how do you draw so quickly :00

That’s a good question! My most recently Pixlriffs painting was 2 hours start to finish and the reason for this is that I have ADHD so if a painting takes longer than 3 hours I get so bored with it that I put it aside and it never gets finished 😅

My solution to this problem is to learn to create the painting in 2 hours so that it can be called Finished before I lose focus. I save time by not doing line art or even cleaning up the thumbnail and just jumping right into colour instead! Also I use a slightly textured brush so that a very simple collection of strokes has the illusion of detail. If I’m being honest, all it takes to make a painting look finished is to nail the lighting, so once I had the torch light in, the piece was basically finished as-is. (This does require you to know exactly what the piece is going to look like when it’s done, though, and all of the steps that’ll take you there, but I’ve had practice doing that. So. It works for me. In my case involves taking a lot of detailed notes.)

If I’m doing a bigger, legitimately detailed project like my beach episode painting, the solution there is to divide it up into 2-3 hour chunks and then do one chunk everyday. I know how much I can do in that time and gave myself a hard deadline with the S1 anniversary day and it worked out great! Plus I usually have multiple paintings happening concurrently so that I can bounce between them whenever I start to get bored with one.

Before I got long Covid I worked full time as an illustrator in a pipeline and it took some convincing to get everyone to adapt to my preferences (let me do colour without lineart, give me three projects at a time or I won’t do any of them) but we worked it out and it ended up being great! I had to be fast to meet deadlines there and that really helped me speed up as well. I’ve had other illustration jobs where the turnaround was same-day, so. Gotta go fast!

TLDR; Detail and brushwork are secondary to light and colour. If you’ve got those two down, any amount of detail is optional! However, since the light won’t look right if your anatomy is off, and the colour won’t save it if your composition doesn’t work, it takes a lot of practice. But after ten years of painting 20-100 hours a week while accommodating my ADHD, I can do a painting really quick! And I use this power to draw lil block guys, because I can 😌

ummmmmm i haven't been g8ming a lot recently but here's a (non-exhaustive) bunch of games that i think are neat <3

completed:

our life: beginnings and always (a slice of life visual novel, focusing on the relationship between the player character and a boy named cove holden. available on pc, mac, and android <3. although cove is advertised as a love interest you can be friends with him or just. not care about him throughout your life hfgjdkfghdkjfgh <3 also the amount of customisation is absolutely. Insane <3 there are a bunch of dlcs you can buy but it's not really necessary i feel. personally. depends on what you think obviously <3)

morgan and alex's dark home dinner (an in-browser text horror game about a contaminated home and a contaminated relationship. god this one is good. hand in unlovable hand et cetera <3. content warnings are in the game and also i recommend downloading the maps available since it'll help with getting through the game <3)

all of rusty lake's games. except for the paid ones i haven't played those <3 (rusty lake makes horror surrealist escape room games which are very fun i think <3 content warnings for a bunch of their games here i can't remember any more sorry orz <= me kneeling down in shame. there's probably Lore but i'm not very smart so i just solve the puzzles yayyy puzzles <3. all of the games should have walkthroughs on their pages <3 also side note i went on the rusty lake website for the first time in a while and saw an nft post and nearly had a heart attack. it was a joak fortunately <3)

demo available:

spirit swap: lofi beats to match-3 to (a combination visual novel and match-3 game about samar, a young witch working the spirit-swapping night shift in the eastern outskirts of demashq. the demo currently only has the match-3 part (Um. last time i checked. it's been a While <3) but it's fun i think <3 i'm easily distracted by shiny things can you tell <3)

in progress:

the eight years revolution (currently up to part of chapter 2, a fantasy story about a monarch fleeing from their home-country due to. The Eight Years Revolution that follows. <3. it's very cool so far and i'm excited for what comes next <3 also ajmal mansoor my beloved <3. also also there's a kitty in chapter 2 if you chose to learn guile in chapter 1 i think it's neat <3)

zorlok (currently goes up to the end of the prologue, a dark comedy urban fantasy twine where you play as an amnesiac demon bound to a nerdy teenager. tommy is my son boy :] also the customisation options in this are really cool and it's so cool how the characters react to how you look <3. you can have a capybara in this <3)
