My partner finally started work on his battle jacket. He knew he wanted a big back patch dedicated to his favourite band but he couldn’t find anything that he really liked. I asked what he would ideally like and after a lot of talking, and planning, I got to work and painted this!
I had a lot of fun and I kinda want to do more, so if anyone wants to commission me then send me a message 🦅

Friday, February 10: Judas Priest, “Bloodstone”
R.I.P. Dave Holland (1948-2018)
Screaming for Vengeance was positioned as Judas Priest violently reasserting their metal cred, but although it frequently lived up to that claim the whole truth about the record was a bit more complicated.  There were ragers, but there were also ballads, and then there was “Bloodstone”, which sounded like a more straightforwardly metallic take on Deep Purple.  Dave Holland’s drumming was more urgent, but the steadiness of his rhythm immediately recalled Ian Paice, and the riffing and even parts of the solo sounded like the descendants of Ritchie Blackmore.  Of course, Rob Halford was his own man, and his singing did plenty to push the track forward.  And on its own “Bloodstone” was still plenty metallic: there was a distinct magic to the way Glenn Tipton and K.K. Downing synced their guitars, and that married to Halford’s wailing gave the tune a charge that was specific to Judas Priest and made it a dark horse gem from the band’s glorious ‘80s run.
