Howdy Pillar
Based off of a Cuckoo Wasp
He wanted to be a butterfly, or even a moth, but Home had other plans. He is listed as one of the high priests, preaching sermons in Home's absence. If you stay out past night, then move quietly. He can't see, but he sure as hell can hear. And whatever you do, dont follow that voice...
Howdy is done! Hes based off of a cuckoo wasp! Its this green wasp that can mimic insects, so I made Howdy this sort of mimic that can lure Using voices. Next part is sallv!!!

Secretkeeper Drabble
Word count: 881
There’s probably a lot of mistakes in this wa…
——————————————————————————
Secretkeeper had her doubts when she saw the egg, silver and glittery under the moonlight.
Maybe it was just an odd large stone, or maybe it was a rainwing egg that had rolled its way out of its nest. By all accounts she's never actually seen a rainwing egg before, but they had to be bright, right? She had scrounged around the area where she remembered leaving her egg in, no dark, sad gray egg to be found. All paths lead to this shiny silver thing being hers unless a predator snatched the real egg up or some dumb rainwing mistook hers for its own.
And her own instincts have been rather sure that it was hers, or it had just decided that any remotely egg shaped thing was something worth looking after. She had thoughts of this being a mistake, sure she wanted her child to stay away from all the brainwashing back at the island and stay even farther away from the constant looming threat of the volcano. But even so at least Secretkeeper would have the insurance of other nightwings, how at the very least the hatchling in some way would be safe from the outside world. There were at least no predators, or any tribes lingering around at the island.
And the child would have other nightwings there to look after them, they could have friends there. They wouldn’t be lonely.
Secretkeeper pondered and pondered as she held the ‘egg’ in her talons, staring down at it as she was weighing her options. Whether or not she should just keep it here or fly back to the volcano with it, tell everyone the truth and admit to all the lies she had told them. Admit that all the times she went to scavenge around the rainforest she’s actually been checking up on her egg.
But today was the day it would hatch. It wouldn’t be safe to fly around with an egg about to burst open at any second. But it also wouldn’t be safe to leave a little hatchling to be out on their own in a dangerous forest with beasts and other tribe dragons. Especially those little scavengers wrangling about. But they also would be fed all the time with all the little animals and fruit just lying around. They wouldn’t have to constantly worry about a volcano exploding at any second, they wouldn’t have to breathe in smoke for their entire lives. And if they hid well enough they wouldn’t have to worry about any animals snatching them.
The rainforest was far colder and likely more dangerous than the volcano but at least there were ways to work around the danger, there was lava everywhere at the island, and the threat of eruption was constant.
Secretkeeper’s thoughts had been interrupted as she felt the egg move in her talons, cracks forming as slowly but surely the shell split apart. She stared at it, wide eyed and filled with wonder. She’s been to hatchings before, but this one. This was hers.
As it continued to shake and break apart, chirps came out from it. Quiet, small little noises. As the shell continued to crack all around, the little hatchling inside fighting their way out. Secretkeeper continued to stare as the egg hatched in her talons, the cracks continuing to form around the side of the egg.
Until eventually, a little hatchling made its- her way out.
Secretkeeper has seen hatchlings before. They were always the color of rock or smoke, sometimes even lava. Various shades of gray with some red here and there. But out of all those hatchlings, out of all the dragonets of the tribe. She can't think of one that’s had even a single star on them.
Her little hatchling, dark scaled and round, tiny little wings that would flap in earnest as she squeaked up at Secretkeeper. Even with how dark her scales were they had swirls of color in them, most noticeably hues of greens and blues, not unlike a galaxy. Actually, as Secretkeeper glances up at the sky and back down at her hatchling, they looked quite alike. It was as if a piece of the night sky had fallen down.
And the stars, she harbored so many of them. Little specks of silver all across her body. With as much as she’s seen and known, stars were only present on nightwings who’ve ventured outside of the volcano frequently like the ones tasked with surveying the rainforest. But even then, none of them ever had this many. The stars they had were always sparse, few to the point where they would be easy to count in quick succession.
But her little one had so many, a freshly hatched dragonet with so many stars, it was almost mesmerizing to look at. A little galaxy in her talons.
Her little Moon.

Wings of fire au where the nightwings get the rainforest and completely ignore the war
In this au the nightwings wouldn’t have made the prophecy and they would’ve taken the rainforest a few years after the war was declared while everyone was distracted
So it would be from Moonwatcher’s point of view Morrowseer and Secretkeeper raised her
Morrowseer is a girl dad
Let’s just say it took the nightwings a while to get settled in and move everything so the eggs and hatchery were still on the nightwing island
The few eggs that were hatched in the rainforest were unlucky and didn’t hatch on a full moon
But Moonwatcher did
Moonwatcher would describe everyone through their thoughts first she barely brushes over appearances
Some rainwings surrendered and live as servants for the nightwings
Grandeur, Glory, Jambu, and Kinkajou live together wandering around the continent
So when they were camping near the border of the rainforest and mud kingdom Kinkajou decided to explore
Moonwatcher ran into her and Kinkajou would be the first dragon Moonwatcher every described their appearance in detail
Kinkajou stalls or convinces her family to move around the border so she could keep seeing Moonwatcher
After a few meet ups Moonwatcher is convinced to leave the rainforest and see what the world is like
So the thoughts
Moonwatcher describes Morrowseer as having really dark and upsetting thoughts unless he’s around her when he is with Moon he has a lot kinder thoughts since he knows she can read them
Kinkajou’s mind shocks Moon because it’s unlike the rainwing servants she’s seen Kinkajou is bright and happy even after everything that happens
Qibli’s mind reminds Moon of her dad Qibli is suspicious of everyone and has a few dark thoughts and only has nicer thoughts with Sunny, Thorn, and later Winter
Since Moon was raised to not trust Icewings she isn’t suprised by Winter’s thoughts of how much he dislikes her and she wonders why Qibli likes hanging out with him
Moonwatcher can’t read Turtle’s thoughts and she is relived and worried at the same time she knows how Turtle looks at Kinkajou because it’s the same way Moon looks at her
Peril’s thoughts amuse Moon since she is used to the nightwings having rude or violent thoughts but never as loud or dramatic as Peril’s
Now some side characters
Since there wasn’t a prophecy Peril and Sky were raised with Kestrel
I’d like to imagine a friendship or maybe a relationship with Glory and Sky
Glory, Tsunami, and Peril are violence buddies Glory is the only voice of reason
Anemone is sweeter since she had Tsunami there to take the pressure off of her
And Kinkajou at some point bites part of Morrowseer’s ear off don’t ask me how she did it or how she survived but she did
She claims it was just a joke but really it was revenge for him insulting her when Moon and Kinkajou revealed their relationship

I honestly wish that the fandom talked more about the fact that Moonwatcher was PHYSICALLY NEGLECTED throughout her childhood.
Her mother, Secretkeeper, didn’t and/or wasn’t able to provide Moon with the proper amount of supervision and maybe even food Moon, while her daughter was living a potentially dangerous environment.
Secretkeeper left her daughter in alone in the rainforest for DAYS on end at a time since the night Moon HATCHED, with the only time she was able to be with Moon was for a few HOURS on the days she was able to be with her. That means that Moon, since the day she was literally BORN, was left for literal DAYS on end without the physical supervision of her own mother.
She was left alone for so long, in fact, that she literally had to LEARN how to HUNT for her own food HERSELF as a young dragonet, to the point that she became very good at it. Moonwatcher is 4 when she mentions this to Qibli, so there’s a good possible chance that due to her living situation, she had to hunt her own food when she was around ONE-THREE years old, around the same age that Anemone, or even MINK and DUSKY are right now!!!
And what really bothers me about this is the fact that Moonwatcher had to hunt for food and was left alone for the majority of her within the Rainforest - which is a potentially DANGEROUS environment to live in.
Like…think about it. The rainforest that the Rainwings live in is filled with POISONOUS frogs, that can make dragon unconscious, have hallucinations, and possibly even KILL you. There’s that also lots of hungry predators that could harm or even kill Moon, like Jaguars and Anacondas. And the rainforest also has dangerous parts within its environment, like quicksands, which are portrayed to be VERY dangerous in movie and/or book media, so I wouldn’t be surprised if they’re dangerous in wings of fire too, at least for a young dragonet who isn’t even a teenager yet. The rainforest has so very hazards, in fact, that there’s canonically a literal SCROLL written about the dangers of the rainforest within this series.
So imagine, a young 1-3 year old dragonet, being in risk of DYING from touching a poisonous frog or being eaten be a Anaconda while hunting for an animal or gathering fruit within the trees. Or Moon attempting to hunt her prey on the ground, in risk of her getting SCARRED or even EATEN by a Jaguar.
Moon has been left within the rainforest for so long to point that she had to search for food in a risky or even dangerous environment when she was the age of a literal CHILD.
So the fact that people don’t talk about, mention, or even possibly know about how bad Moon’s childhood probably was within the rainforest it is…quite sad and even a bit upsetting, honestly.
Of course, I do know that Secretkeeper didn’t have much of a choice of doing this to Moon, or at least knew it would be MUCH better if Moon lived in the rainforest alone, than living within the literal volcano instead.
Especially since leaving Moon to live within the rainforest is a much, MUCH better option than her living in a literal VOLCANO, an insufferable place where dragons gained severe asthma from, being forced to only eat only ONCE per week, with the only available food to eat being ROTTING prey that was alone for DAYS on end, and within the environment that is much more negative and controlling that living alone in the rainforest.
There’s also a good percentage of her that Secretkeeper did NOT even know about the dangers of the rainforest, due to the fact the Nightwing volcano is probably the ONLY place she ever lived or even knew about.
I’m also aware that Secretkeeper also didn’t visit Moon as much as she should within the rainforest because if she did so, there’s a good chance that Moon would be found and be FORCED to live within the volcano, and suffer living within the volcano along with the rest of the Nightwings.
HOWEVER, while this is true, it does NOT stop the fact that while Moon’s living situation within the rainforest is much better than what all the Nightwings had, it does NOT make her living situation - being physically NEGLECTED in a DANGEROUS environment - be ANY LESS bad as it is for Moon to go through.
It does NOT stop the fact that living within the rainforest ALONE for her ENTIRE LIFE until book 6 NEGATIVELY AFFECTED Moon, and that she was, indeed, was PHYSICALLY NEGLECTED since the day she was literally BORN, regardless of the context or reason to why this neglect happened and/or occurred. AND that fact that child neglect is a literally known to be a form of CHILD ABUSE, regardless if Moon’s mother wasn’t able to properly be there for Moon, or even possibly not having a choice on whether or not to NOT neglect Moon in this way.
And the saddest thing about this, is that there’s a possible chance that Tui did NOT fully realize that Moon, her very own character, living situation was as bad it was, since she didn’t explore Moon’s childhood trauma of living alone in the rainforest and how it currently affected her as much as other character’s - like Winter, Peril, Qibli, etc.,
Or at least not as much as how Secretkeeper telling and/or even possibly pressuring Moon to hide her powers or else other dragons would hate her for them, and Secretkeeper caring more about what dragons think about Moon without even considering or thinking about what Moon thinks about the other dragons she’s around.
I’m sorry that this confession is very, VERY long. I’m also very sorry if I had overreacted, overanalyzed, or overthought about any information within this confession.
I pretty much made this because I feel like people don’t at least mention that Moon’s childhood within the rainforest isn’t as great as some people might think, and/or not at least mentioned that Moon was unfortunately physically neglected - and maybe even mention that she was neglected within a potentially dangerous environment - regardless on whether or not Secretkeeper had a choice on doing so, or even if it possibly doesn’t count on whether or not Secretkeeper is actually a good mother to Moon or not, so I decided to make a this rant.
Thank you for everyone who went out of their day or night to read this confession and/or rant, and I hope you have a good day today :)
Anon asked me to include some images. They also noted that they have not read A Guide to the Dragon World yet.
