I Got Some New Plants
Tumblr media
They're a Peacocki Echeveria (the green one), a Perle Von Nurnberg Echeveria (the pink one) and some Adolphi Sedum "Firestorms". Also, my Kalanchoe has finally resprouted so it might be okay. I told you proper Echeverias are very beautiful plants, I just don't like how the PVN has lost most of its leaves, but it kinda got banged around. Hope it's gonna be okay.

Sedum nussbaumerianum (which may or may not be a different species to S. adolphi, which is often spelled adolphii).  April 2021.

This arrangement has come a long way since Christmas. Some things have died and been pulled out, others have been added. The String-of-Pearls, Echeveria 'Lola', Schlumbergera, and Crassula mesembryanthemoides are all original residents, though the Crassula did rot originally and needed to be cut and rerooted. But it's doing fine now! There were Sedum rubrotinctum in there but they also sadly rotted, though there's a tiny pup from a leaf nestled next to the Lola that's doing okay. The Sedum adolphi also rotted and was pulled out, there's still a hole in the back next to the Schlumbergera that I haven't filled in.
The other Echeveria 'Ramillete' and it's crested form are new so we shall see how they fair.
I tend to water this when the Schlumbergera calls for it which has worked for the other plants so far! The ones that rotted was probably due to a combination of repotting with the soil moist and past treatment at the store we bought them from (Home Depot, and it had rained on them).

More more and more plants. I’m being more of a plant mom by every passing day! I really need tips because I don’t have the greenest thumb, if you have any about propagation, succulents or anything I’d love to hear them :) (my succulent is a sedum adolphi)

This summer my collection grew and new species were introduced to the tabletop, and some were lost. It was a rough summer with unexpected week long heat waves, unforeseen drops in tempatures, and severely smokey air from the wildfires.
I lost plants. My sedum adolphi, split rock (was very upset at this loss), one adromischus, one Tillandsia, and my ghost succulent (luckily I have a single sprouted prop from the mother plants leaf).
Luckily I gained new friends that have adjusted well. Two Chinese Money Plant plantlets, string of pearls, a spider plant, a Saguaro cactus terrarium, African violet plantlet, purple passion, and a touch me not plant.
It is the circle of time when it comes to plants. They live, bring joy, and then pass. There is nothing that can be done to stop this cycle. I will miss the plants that made up the unique pieces of my collection, but here’s to hoping I come across them again.

I forgot to mention this before but I got some cute little succulents down at the shops the other day!
Tumblr media
I’m planning on using these little guys for an art project, but I’ve honestly gotten really attached to them over the last few days. I can see why people love to have collections of them and oh no I’m turning into a little old succulent lady now aren’t I
anyway if you want to read more about these little guys I put some more info under the cut here because I am a hopeless nerd
Tumblr media
This first one is a Golden Sedum (Sedum adolphi). I love its yellow colors with the greens and reds mixed in, so Ibet it’s going to be really fun to try and draw
Tumblr media
This next one is a ‘Salsa’ Sedum according to its label on the pot here, specifically a Sedum pachyphyllum hybrid.
Tumblr media
This last one is a Haworthia species. I like this one because its leaves are really translucent and significantly change depending on how you hold it up to the light. For example, its spots look like a dark green in this photo below
But then when you hold it up to the light, you can see how the light shines through its leaves. Something about that just really tickled my fancy
Tumblr media
So yes! There are my plant babies! I want to go back to the shop where I got them tomorrow to see if they’ve got any small pots that I could put them in, and maybe the smallest bag of soil they’ve got. These little guys are tiny, their current plastic pots are only 2.5 inches across, but I think some slightly bigger pots with good drainage will probably do them some good.
