it is in reference to the fact that i recently found out my state has a program that provides free naloxone to anybody who wants to carry it, no prescription necessary.

if you aren’t familiar, naloxone (brand name Narcan) is a medication that can be used to reverse an opioid overdose almost instantaneously in an emergency. in my state it is provided in the form of a nasal spray, but similar programs in other areas might offer auto-injectors, or other subcutaneous delivery methods.

BUT what i want to get across is that there are A LOT of these programs out there! if you’re curious, just google “free naloxone [your location]” and you might be able to get your hands on free or extremely reduced cost doses of naloxone to carry with you. most programs will train you how to administer the medication, and how to recognize signs of overdose.

harm reduction for drug users is important to me, regardless of who is using them, or for what purpose. and you can be part of that effort in your community SO easily by adding this to your first aid repertoire. it’s a bit like getting cpr certified! only literally so fast and cheap and easy like in my case i was in and out of the pharmacy in 15 minutes!!! you can literally save somebodys life with this, it is so so worth it.

i just wanna say, i really love all the low-key Elder Punk asks ive gotten over the years with this comic, here and on instagram too (especially when directed at Johnny its sooooo cute and i love it even though 'elder' makes me go ahhh a bit i suppose to a degree thats true!) its really fun for me to relive that part of my life a bit and divulge some of the things we did in the 90's, at least in my neck of the woods. i am not by any means any kind of an authority, nor was i the punkest punk who ever punked, and theres a hundred dif ways to do punk things, but i do remember being scared to ask folks how they did something, so i just wanna put it out there that you are always free to ask me, and ofc johnny, if you have q's on how-to's or diys, or things you see me put in my art and are curious about. unforch i have to have anon off For Reasons, but yea this is a safe, none-gatekeeping place for you!

It's so sad seeing people getting into the metal scene for the first time because of Stranger Things, and them being ashamed of that fact, as if it makes them "fake fans" or whatever. (Not to mention the established fans who go after them and hate them for it)

And i've seen so many people on here say they want to make a battle jacket, but they're scared to because they don't feel worthy of it since they've never seen the bands live. As if battle jackets have rules and requirements you need to follow. (Some people claim they do and they can go fuck themselves honestly) They absolutely do not! i've seen a battle jacket with a back patch made from a faded old barbie t-shirt.

Growing up in the metal scene and later branching out into the punk scene on my own. I can tell you that punks and metalheads are some of the coolest, kindest and most laid back people out there. I started going to concerts at 12 years old and I got high fives and fistbumps from grown men on the streets in the city when they clocked my merch. That's how it's supposed to be!!

All fans start somewhere and deserve to be welcomed and brought into the community no matter where they came from. There are no "fake fans." There are no rules to joining, that defeats the whole fucking purpouse of counter culture. Any punk or metalhead who thinks otherwise has forgotten what it's all about and don't deserve your time.

I don’t think Americans are ready for any form of revolution, or another way of life.

I’m 100% serious when I say that I don’t think people, more specifically the American people, are ready for a life that would benefit them more. I think collectively we’ve gotten used to the corruption to the point to where we don’t really care. We care enough to say “let’s have a conversation about..” and “XXX is an issue, and here is a solution. Let’s contact the people that represent us but don’t really care about our voices..” and that’s it. We are not ready for long term meaningful change.

Now, as far as I can tell? French people *are* ready for change. They want change and are absolutely demanding it. They are out in the streets and messing shit up. I’m not saying that there aren’t Americans out there that aren’t doing shit for long term meaningful change but I AM saying that as a collective we CAN do better.

Personally I think this current system can’t be saved. I think that the corruption of shareholders, CEOs, mega corps, politicians, etc are so bad that we really need to just take time and effort to step the fuck away from it. Enough is enough. We need to take our time and effort and put it into something that’s beneficial for EVERYONE taking part in it. We need to completely scrap most of our old ways of thinking because if we don’t we are literally DOOMED to keep doing things that keep us suffering. Hunger, poverty, inequality.

We have power. WE CAN CHANGE THINGS FOR US, FOR THE BETTER. we know what we need for our souls to feel satisfied. It’s possible to do things and we don’t need fucking permission.

Revolution can be as big or as small as we want it to be. Imagine if we achieved the most basic of things… we could have better public transport. We could have better and safer sidewalks, or sidewalks in general. We could make sure people are more prepared for emergencies or for life in general. We could make sure community members know how to get creative in how to repair items for short and long term.

Big or small it’s possible, but I really don’t think that Americans are able to do it.
