i wanna know your interpretation of tashi saying “what else could i want” to patrick when he asked her if him losing to art is really what she wanted, in the car after having sex and cuddling with him 🥸

I took it fairly straightforward: Patrick was trying to see if she had any feelings for him and/or if that was the “real”/another reason she sought him out.

Tashi’s cheated on Art twice, and each time, with Patrick. I know the fandom has mostly taken that to mean that she never loved Art, only loves him for tennis, loves Patrick etc but I simply don’t believe that from what we’ve seen. I firmly believe fucking Patrick in Atlanta was spurned on from seeing that racist bitch Mueller make it to Wimbledon with “no competition” when that should’ve been here, completely unrelated to any feelings or lack thereof she has about Art. Again, anyone who argues differently makes me question if they’ve ever hooked up with someone they shouldn’t have because they feel bad lmao.

Tashi fucking Patrick before the match, to me from her perspective, is straightforward. She’s attracted to Patrick. She wants Art to win. She literally said “if that’s what it takes” when Patrick asked why she’s fucking him. I don’t think Tashi was consciously thinking she’s pimping herself out for Art— that would be a gross misunderstanding of the sentiment— but I don’t think it was forgotten love, attention or anything related to Patrick because of the way she gave an “ultimatum” to Art if he won, only to plead with Patrick to lose.

I think Patrick however might assume, as much as the fandom does, that she still holds a torch for him. That she likes him/loves him, more than Art and/or doesn’t love Art at all except for the tennis she’s “molded” for him. For Patrick to ask if that’s what she really wants, I can easily imagine him wanting to know if she has feelings for him and if she does/doesn’t, to just be honest about whatever it is that she’s feeling (in his mind).

To Tashi’s credit, I don’t think she even knew or if she did— it’s multiple things at once. I will stand ten toes down that she loves Art. Full stop. But she also likes Patrick. She’s also frustrated with Art. She wants the career she should’ve had. She’s built something else in its stead. I reject the notion that it has to be one way or the other because she’s too complex for that.

feral!omega!Eddie + broken! Alpha Steve

steve gets so many concussions that his brain is no longer able to smell scents. it doesn’t bother him, but it feds into the idea that he’s an asshole, that he’s stubborn, that he is emotionally dumb. so steve tries harder to make connections.

he’s an alpha surrounded by pups and beta, so it doesn’t really make much difference.

eddie is an omega who doesn’t ever mention it. steve can’t tell and he doesn’t follow rumours, or he tries not to because it doesnt affect him.

then chrissy, and vecna and eddie is on the run, an omega, alone, fearing for his life.

when dustin and the rest find eddie, he’s feral. broken bottle to an alpha’s throat, protecting himself from a threat he cannot see.

dustin thinks fast, tries to talk him down. he’s embarrassed, but he trills, a little sound that eddie zeroes in on, and calls steve his alpha.

steve tries not to have a a meltdown when dustin says that. robin has to keep steve from freaking out, since steve’s scent works fine, and is actually pretty strong since he cant tell if it is too strong. it makes him seem like a confident alpha, but in reality, it takes a a lot of self control.

dustin and max try to get eddie to focus on them , while saying how strong steve is how steve would protect them all, so eddie doesn’t have to worry. dustin approaches eddie, and goes in close so eddie can scent him.

eddie eventually releases steve. but he’s still feral. they try to get through to him, but the only way for a feral omega would be able to get back to normal is if an alpha can calm them down. and the only alpha around is steve.

stan culture is a disease that I will never understand. I cannot reconcile the cognitive dissonance of reading that your favorite star actively avoids going out because of the stalker, creepy photos and videos that people are taking and somehow accept this as okay because “that’s the price of being famous” no. no it isn’t. a celebrity acknowledging that their fandom is fucking deranged and has entire accounts dedicated to stalking your every move does not magically give everyone a pass to keep doing it. it’s not PR. it’s not fun. the normalization of the actual stalking of celebrities and bending over backwards to defend what you all do is absolutely fucking bizarre.

one of the weirdest things about pjo show criticism to me is how much of it is just based on people being Wrong about a series they claim to love. “The lotus scene was super exciting and meaningful” no it wasn’t. That’s from the movie. “Annabeth is too mean and too much of a know it all” yeah, that’s pretty much who she was for most of the original series. “They forgot how to SHOW not tell” bold words coming from people who love a book where 90% is Percy’s internal monologue telling readers what to think and the other 10% is Annabeth or Grover telling Percy what’s happening. “The pacing is bad!” Skill issue idk what to tell you.

Tashi— who liked Patrick and liked the game, not between the boys but the game itself, who wanted a partner that had that drive and passion and energy for the same thing that brought them together.

Tashi— who lost everything in an instant, everything that she had spent her entire life working towards for what was a horrible and unfortunate accident.

Tashi— who casually joked years later with Art that “she wasn’t going to kill herself or anything” with the sardonic tone of someone who very clearly fucking considered it, brushing it off and pushing forward because Tashi Duncan might not have been able to recover her tennis but she could still be in it.

Tashi— who was no less determined but more focused, who saw the potential of Art not just as a player but as a person, who had told Patrick years before that his game had improved despite how much Patrick had dismissed it.

Tashi— a fiancée, a moment not of weakness but of a choice, maybe to recapture the intensity of her own feelings or maybe a low point at the reminder of Mueller who had no other competition because that competitor should’ve been her.

Tashi— a wife and a mother who tells Patrick to throw the game, for Art and for her love for him, who replies in complete seriousness when Patrick asks if she’ll fuck him for his acceptance “if that’s what it takes.”

Tashi— who is the actual fucking heart of this movie— and as this article put so perfectly, is the thesis of everything, the one person we see right at the end.

Tashi Duncan, the (messy, complex, enigmatic) woman that you are.
