I think there's a lot of misconceptions about Danzō which is entirely understandable because holy shit dude maybe like... take a breath and stop what you're doing.

But I find him an IMMENSELY fascinating character because he genuinely thinks what he's doing is best. He doesn't believe himself to be a villain, or power-hungry, or manipulative. His first priority truly is the village, and he believes everything he's doing is in the service of a justifiable end.

Of course this doesn't improve anything he's doing and he's still an absolutely horribly man, but I find it incredibly interesting. I just think people can't really conceptualize of someone being that misguided, which is understandable lol

where does the belief that shimura is a clan even come from? danzou is the only shimura we know, there's no other one mentioned and not even in the data books is it listed as a clan, so...

there's this trend in the founders fandom where writers make the shimura clan as a generally unpleasant, bigoted clan, and it feels almost like everyone is trying to find an excuse why danzou is the way he is

i promise you guys, danzou doesn't need his parents to be misogynistic for him to turn out the way he did. he can be a fucko all on his own with no clan behind him encouraging that behavior, actually

edit: nvm, turns out hashirama does mention them actually. but i still don't like it and it doesn't add up so i'm gonna continue pretending that single off-hand mention never happened

(and my point still stands. even if the shimura are a clan, they don't all have to be power-hungry bigots, danzou can be like that all of his own)
