hi, vyra
it's 6am, kinda, and I just woke up from a dream I had - the details are escaping me as I write, but there were a few key things that stayed with me.
in short, I dreamt you wrote a soul crushingly, evisceratingly beautiful play about something (I'm not sure what), clearly influenced by HnK (and, surprisingly, Pinocchio?) - one thing I remember is the costumes clearly taking from your style, and the second half of the play dabbling more and more into horror - but in its own way it was also beautiful. after the premiere, I couldn't stay and celebrate, I could only stare into nothingness as my mind digested what I've just experienced. i had to leave because of how noisy the celebration was getting.
i know most of this means nothing (and I am not good with words, so trying to accurately describe something so fleeting as even a part of a dream is futile) but it gripped my heart like nothing else. Even though I'll forget it in time, as it tends to be with dreams, I wanted to tell you about it.
you probably don't remember me, but i was so surprised when i woke up that i rushed to your ask box immediately!
so, uh...thank you? hope you have a good day ahead.

I read killing stalking and I am screaming its so fucked (in a good way?), I'm generally uncomfortable with the CONSTANT explicit and obviously fetishised rape scenes, its just gross, HOWEVER literally every other part of the comic portrayed this horrifically abusive relationship in such an interesting way, I almost fell for sangwoos bullshit later on when he was acting all vanilla and normal with Bum, BUT THAT WAS JUST YET ANOTHER layer of manipulation, maybe even subconsciously.
from all the talk about this comic a few years ago I thought it was just glorifying an abusive relationship but like no, you're not meant to want these two together, you're meant to root for Bum to get out, though again, the rape scenes are so much and so unnecessary and totally damped an actually interesting story
I gotta be honest 😅 I’ve kinda moved on from KS cuz I read it like a year ago, so I don’t really have the memory or energy to give this a proper thought out reply. But I will say I didn’t take any of the scenes from KS to be anywhere near fetishizing tbh. I’ll probably never experience a situation like the one in KS, and the only way I would ever know how scary and terrifying that would be is through a piece of literature like KS. Do some people take the content from KS and do…nefarious things with it? Yes. Does that mean Koogi was fetishizing SA/abuse? I…um…Based on my readings of Koogi interviews, absolutely no fetishizing was being done by the author.
And, I don’t mean for this to be rude, but no you’re not meant to root for Bum to get out. You’re meant for him to get help. In every aspect of his life, not just help away from Sangwoo. He’s not a perfect character and he’s not meant to be. He did hurt people and do bad things—even before he met Sangwoo, he’s a deeply flawed and broken character. Bum wasn’t the ‘good guy’ of the comic. Nor was he the bad guy. No one really was. That’s one of biggest points of the whole comic.
Sangwoo is the biggest example of this imo. What do you think would’ve changed about him if his mother hadn’t been his abuser?

hi! i just wanted to let you know that following you has rekindled my interest in cinema. i used to be very passionate about it — at one point i even contemplated going to film school after graduating to learn scriptwriting — but somewhere along the way i got discouraged and little by little i even lost interest in watching movies / going to the cinema. since i've been following you, though, i've been reminded of why cinema / movies were so appealing to me in the first place. i love expanding my to-watch list thanks to all the movies you mention / reblog posts about and i really enjoy reading your thoughts and your tags. thank you for that ❤️
there are lots of things i feel like i should say im response to this, but honestly all i’ve got right now is: this is genuinely one of the loveliest things that anyone has ever told me, and thank you for taking the time to let me know ❤️ i’m truly, deeply honoured

I have 2 days to decide whether or not to spay my accidental new cat before she has her babies. She's like, t-minus 7ish days until birth so I have no idea what I should do. Like they might be viable at this point so it feels more like euthanizing an entire litter than just terminating a pregnancy. Like you can feel them moving and kicking if you touch her belly. I've been dying the past 3 days over this decision but I'm almost out of time.
Also if anyone thinks to berate me for allowing her to get pregnant, you can go kick rocks, because I brought her in from outside over a month ago since she was a stray and it was almost winter. She came like that so it's not my fault, and they couldn't get me in for a spay any sooner because of the high demand for the low cost clinic. It was originally scheduled for December 1st but I wasn't sure if she'd still be pregnant at that point, so they were able to get me on the cancelation list. But not as soon as I wanted and now I'm in a pickle.
I dont regret bringing her inside at all, but I do wish I'd been able to just fork over the couple hundred extra it would have cost to have her spayed at my actual vet rather than waiting for the clinic to have a spot. But now if I decide to back out and let her raise the kittens, itll cost that much anyways to have them all fixed and chipped and vaxxed and whatnot. So it didn't matter much in the end, ig? Unless I can live with myself if I make the decision to have the babies aborted. Which in humans like, your body your choice. But this cat can't make any choices so it's on ME to decide FOR her and she would probs be fine either way since she's an animal. But I'm having a problem with it so UGH what do I DO now.

Edit: wow this blew up. i dont have anything to promote but i made a response to the most common replies ive gotten to this as well as my thoughts on the direction the web has been heading. you can read it here if you like <3
[Image ID: A screenshot of the youtube popup that appears if you use an ad blocker. It consists of a title, then three bullet points, then two buttons. It has been modified to read:
Going to pee during the ad break violates YouTube's Terms of Service
it looks like you selfishly left the room while our ads were playing. Don't you know that by watching youtube you entered into a contract?
We killed the competition by operating at a loss for a decade. we paid good money to be the only game in town.
now that there are no other options, we can start to make that money back however we like. So turn your webcam on so our advertisers know you're paying attention
The two buttons read "let us program your brain" and "foot the bill directly" /.End ID]
