# kanade (宵崎奏) 🎼

she… she is more than concerned about you. with kanade staying indoors most of the time and you being outdoors, she definitely worries about how you’ll manage.

kanade finds the way you struggle with technology… rather endearing, in her own way. she can’t help but smile at how you look at her monitors while she works on a song, answering your questions about how one thing works. she just needs to make sure you don’t touch anything—

she doesn’t get out much, but nothing will stop her from leaving her house and searching for you as soon as she gets an “i’m lost” text message from you. she’ll ask you to describe things around you and stay put until she reaches you, a gentle, relieved smile forming on her face when she finds you <3.

# mafuyu (朝比奈まふゆ) ❄️

she’s more than curious about you. she wonders how one person could be so… scatterbrained, for the lack of a better word. in your own way, you remind mafuyu of one of her peers from school…

she’ll help you with any technology issues you happen to have, wether it be telling you your phone turned off because it’s dead and needs to be charged, or prevent your device from getting a virus due to you accidentally clicking a certain link.

she prevents you from wandering off and getting lost by simply holding your hand. mafuyu will keep you close to her, her hand in yours as you two walk to school. if you do happen to get lost, however, a soft, genuine smile will form onto her face as she begins her search for you.

# ena (東雲恵那) 🎨

if ena had to describe you in a simple term, she’d go with the word “airheaded”. by no means is she ever irritated or annoyed by you, you could never piss her off — in fact, she finds it rather mesmerizing… in her own way.

a conversation you and your girlfriend have had many times is about your phone. “ena?” you call, and the artist turns away from her canvas to face you. “yes?” “my phone turned off randomly. can you see what’s wrong?” cue a loving sigh from her as she puts her paintbrush down and walks over to you, taking your phone from your hands.

ena has considered installing a tracking device onto your phone for whenever you get lost. of course, she’ll always stop what she’s doing to go and get you whenever you lose your way, scoffing slightly at mizuki’s comment to “put money in a jar whenever [name] get’s lost”.

# mizuki (秋山瑞希) 🎀

mizuki thinks your absentmindedness is adorable! you’re already cuter than any person they’ve seen, and your airheaded personality doubles it!

“mizuki,” “hm?” “something is wrong with my phone.” they giggle softly before taking your device into their hands, telling you that you accidentally powered it off by holding the power button for too long.

mizuki is two steps ahead when it comes to you wandering off. they had installed a GPS onto your phone so they can easily find you! whenever they’re with you on a walk, they hold your hand and pull you close to avoid any mishaps <3.

On Mizuki and mirrors:

Reflections have always been a major part of Mizuki as a character! There’s many cards that show them reflected in some way— they’re often also associated with water because of this as well, and the 瑞 in their name is homophonous with 水. Water’s arguably been a theme for Mizuki longer than it has for Mafuyu, considering it dates back to their very first 3*. But I don’t think it’s something worth debating either :) I don’t think there needs to be a competition on it lol.

I feel like I remember there being a fact on this account about how Mizuki covered the mirror in their bedroom with a sheet as well back when they were in middle school? The idea of mirrors, water, and reflection is a long-running theme with Mizuki, and I think it’s interesting that Mizuki and Mafuyu have different meanings behind their associations with water, but are able to have that as a connecting theme— much like how, despite the vast differences in their problems and how they’re approached and can be fixed (to the point where parts of their issues are opposites to each other), they share the commonality of “needing to be saved” by Niigo (a terminology I dislike for it, but one the game uses regularly enough that I feel I can’t use another phrase.)

Speaking of, I think Mafuyu’s association with water comes from her association with winter. Water is basically melted snow/ice… aka what one could call the “true” form of those things. Because Mafuyu is searching for her true self, I think that’s why she’s often shown with water when it comes to themes involving her identity.

"Bug" Appreciation Post

Of all the songs I’ve presented in this series, this one certainly doesn’t need an introduction. Having reached 26 mln views on YouTube, Bug is certainly one of if not the most popular Project Sekai commissioned song. And rightfully so - the song is a bop, being very fast-paced and using a lot of repeated words to enhance the rhythm. Very mesmerizing, because the song is about being mesmerized. And, more or less, about waking up from the trance, coming to the realization that something’s… not exactly right.

Of course, the song was commissioned by Project Sekai, so it’s obviously a character-centered song. If I remember correctly, in my post about Suspended Animation, I said that you can’t really decipher Bug’s meaning without being aware of Mafuyu’s struggles as a character. And this is true to some extent. For me, the song is mostly about being controlled and you don’t really have to know who is controlling who, but this certainly makes some things clear. The one controlled - the system, if you will - is Mafuyu, who’s been constantly manipulated by her mother and has lost her identity as a result. Mafumom is, in this case, the administrator - the owner of the system. She pulls the strings. Some translations suggest that her name should be written as "administraitor", pointing towards her negative influence. And although it’s not up to me to decide whether Mafumom is a good person or not, she clearly made Mafuyu what she is now. The bug in the title is Mafuyu’s friends, the Niigo group. They are making the system glitch - in a way, they introduce changes to Mafuyu. While from a technological standpoint, bugs aren’t a good thing, in this case, Niigo clearly helps Mafuyu, but also makes her doubt. While I believe that these changes will make her feel better as a person, in that moment she experiences very conflicting emotions - the "paranoia" that’s repeated throughout the whole song. With its constant repetition, it slowly merges with Japanese "iiya", meaning "no more", "I can’t". Because, having enough of the pain, Mafuyu begs for mercy.

Mm. Catchy.

What I like the most in this song is the raw pain it manages to convey. In many of my playlists, Bug serves as a "transformation song". And it’s not a cutesy Magical Girl transformation you’d expect from me saying this, it’s raw. You know, these very monstrous transformations you saw in 12+ movies as a kid despite the rating itself kinda contradicting their presence at all? That’s what I’m talking about. It’s true that with any change, there will be pain, but the state of mind Bug presents is so messed-up it makes you shiver. My favorite moment is the drop after the last "iiya". The lyrical eye - Mafuyu - has experienced so much pain that she can’t withstand anything more than that. And after the last yell, full of agony, the music suddenly stops. A brief moment of silence is followed by the same melody from the start, then the whole song cuts completely.

I often imagine that, at that moment, she’s looking you straight in the eyes, the insanity peeking through. Almost as if she’s completely lost her mind.

Now isn’t that a banger.

my catholic school niigo au thoughts from two days ago ... aha. i like how i call it the catholic school au but the fact that they go to catholic school is only so relevant

not mentioned is mafuena's slow blossoming into a romantic relationship...and mizuki is like. Not in the picture in any of this but she gets her arc and her moments and of course she's part of their giant qpr i mean they all love each other. They all love each other...sob

i have SO MANY more thoughts esp on all of their relationships with religion and going to a catholic school in the first place...like kanade goes because she lives a suuuper close walking distance from school and it's good light exercise that she needs bc of her chronic illness (i'm basing her condition on a friend's + what's described in canon), mafuyu goes bc her mother is catholic and wants her to go to a good catholic school, ena goes bc it's erm. in a city big on entertainment in california. (am i doxxing myself by basing this school largely on my own? who knows. lol). and mizuki transferred from her old all-boys' school because she felt alienated there. Are you feeling me....

mafuena focused because I'm Me. mafuyu's arc pertaining to finding and doing what she loves...finding love...finding hope. ena's about emotional regulation (LOL) and etching out a future for herself—one with all the people she loves in it. kanade's about guiding mafuyu, about helping, but also letting herself be helped and taken care of. mizuki's about community and finding a sense of belonging and being true to herself...

i dreamt up a whole story about her junior ring ceremony and feeling like a true part of the community and having her loving seniors at her back... following her and the whole ring debacle. what name do you want engraved inside your ring? do you want me to call you minou when it's time for me to say your name? and all this toil and internal struggle about her place in the community, and herself as a person, all of it climaxes in her responding i'd like the name mizuki akiyama engraved in my ring, please. and you can call me mizuki, not minou. mi-zu-ki. thank you. augh. just. sisterhood and family and belonging. and, of course, having a pretty ring to show she's part of all that.

It All Happened July 16th

The past four weeks have been agonizing for Ena Shinonome, she’s been in and out of the hospital not being treated herself, but to be by her younger brothers side

Akito Shinonome.

Akito had attempted to kill himself a few days prior to today, July 16th was the day Ena’s life was turned upside down.

Ena was on her way to the hospital like normal walking down Vivid street, she’s actually grown to hate this street, having to see it so many times just to see her little brother.

She’s tried, exhausted even, who wouldn’t be? Having to see the same monotone white walls and the feeling of impending doom was just to much for Ena to handle, especially with Niigo making songs and her classes, she couldn’t handle it all

But who else was gonna visit her brother? Definitely not their parents, her father was a terrible one and her mother was an alcoholic. When Ena told her mother the news that her son tried to commit suicide, her mother bat an eye

Like she didn’t even care.

Such a horrible mother, Ena thought

Ena finally made it to the hospital and checked herself in, the receptionist already knowing Ena’s name since she’s been here for the past week

“Welcome back Ena, Akito seems to be in stable condition, he is sadly still unresponsive”

The receptionist said without a tone of remorse in his voice, Ena can’t blame him though, he probably has to give bad news to every single person that walks through the glass doors in front of him

Ena hums and grabs her visitors past, already memorizing the way to Akito’s hospital room, make a left as soon as you enter the hospital

Take the elevator up to the 3rd floor for patients who are unresponsive, once the elevator doors open take a left and when you see a vending machine filled with old chips and soda all you need to do is follow the blue line going across the wall

And there, Ena made it

She’s hesitant to go in though, she’s sick of seeing her brother in this state, it’s heartbreaking.

Ena musters up the courage and turns the door knob, walking in quickly to see Akito’s nurse checking his vitals, without turning around the nurse speaks

“Good afternoon Ena”

It’s like everyone in this hospital knows her name, it’s weird. Ena walks next to the nurse and looks down, the impending doom feeling instantly falling on her

She always tears up when she sees Akito in this state, multiple wires connecting to him and the sound of the machine keeping him alive, making sure his heart is pumping and blood is flowing.

Ena shakes her head and wipes the tears before they can fully form, she’s not gonna cry. At least not in front of the nurse.

“Has anything changed?”

Ena asked not taking her eyes off Akito’s still face, The nurse writes Akito’s vitals on his clipboard before answering Ena

“Nope, he’s still unresponsive, but everything is as it should be”

The nurse said, silently excusing himself as he walks out the room making sure to close the door behind him, leaving the Shinonome siblings alone with only one’s thoughts

Ena suddenly remembers all the things Akito’s friends gave her to give to him, she takes off her backpack and sets it on the edge of the bed, not wanting to disturb Akito in any state

Ena first pulls out a stuffed tiger, from his fellow team members An and Kohane, Ena holds it before clearing her throat

“Look, Akito… Kohane and An got you this orange tiger, said it reminded them of you…”

Ena said while placing the tiger next to Akito’s right hand, making sure it didn’t overlap any important wires or anything

Then she went back into her bag and pulled out a toy robot, from his upperclassmen ‘friends’ Kamishiro and Tenma

“I know you don’t really like Kamishiro and Tenma, but they wanted me to give you this robot made by Kamishiro, he promised it won’t do any stupid shit”

Ena weakly smiled as she placed the robot on the side table, maybe when Akito wakes up he can play with said robot, probably not. Akito hasn’t played with any toy since he was 5.

Ena pulls one final thing out her bag and almost cries when she sees what is last, it’s a two tone teddy bear and a handwritten letter, sent by Akito’s partner, Toya.

“Ahh… Toya won you a teddy bear at the arcade, he also wrote you a note, I’ll leave that for you to read when you wake up though… wouldn’t wanna intrude to what Toya has to say”

Ena softly smiled as she put the two toned bear near Akito’s chest knowing Toya was really important to Akito, so obviously Akito would want Toya’s gift closer to him

Ena placed her bag on the floor and grabbed the chair in the room and dragged it so it would be near Akito’s side

She sat in it, feeling a bit uncomfortable but she couldn’t think about that right now, all she had to think about was her brother and his health, she looked at his seemingly relaxed state and put her hand out to hold his

Feeling a bit weird since she’s never been so… close to her brother, all throughout her life it’s always been Akito and her at each others neck, the play was that they both hated each others guts, but in reality they really did love each other

They just had weird ways of showing it, that’s all, like how Ena would always take Akito to the places with the best pancakes and cheesecake, while Akito always held her shopping bags and took her photos

That all doesn’t really mean anything now, they can’t do any of those things if Akito is here in the hospital.

Ena was suddenly pulled out her trance when she suddenly got pulled out her chair and dragged outside, catching glimpses of multiple doctors by Akito’s side, the doctors yelling out multiple things she couldn’t begin to comprehend.

It’s that a flat line she’s hearing…?

To continue the Tsukasa rants, do you remember the Wonder Halloween event? When Rui held back from giving Tsukasa his idea? Tsukasa got really upset at that and I think that he was upset because he thinks that he a star, wasn’t good enough for the role and so the director had to change his ideas because of him. Even if the event focused on Rui, I still have that stuck in my head because Tsukasa holds memories that reflect his personality. (Saki’s doll event) Those memories make him who he is. I think after that Halloween event, he’s going to hide his negative feelings from everyone else and bottle it up until one day, he just shatters apart.

In short,

He’s a star and what do all stars do?

They burn.

Oh no, angst.

But, well, it's not like I dislike angst, so your idea is very tempting. I kinda can see what you mean by bottling his negative feelings until he shatters apart too. It'll make a very good hurt/comfort route for sure. It may be cathartic to see, but after seeing/reading Subaru's breakdowns so many times I'm sure my heart would ache terribly if I saw my other fav characters like Tsukasa fell apart. Just Subaru is enough please. On the other hand, my sister actually wanted Tsukasa to snap at WxS, so it's kinda funny how much people wanted to see him breaking down in sadness and/or anger.

Fortunately(?), I don't think canon would go that far with Tsukasa's internal conflict. While yes Wonder Halloween event enforced his perfectionist tendency, and yes he's most likely still blaming himself for that incident, I think his tendency to put 'the best shows' next to 'the happiness of his loved ones' help in this instance. If his negative feelings compromise their shows, he would consult the others after being able to look at those feelings objectively. And it's not like he bottled them up in canon too. Dazzling Stage hinted that whenever he has negative feelings he'd play the piano as a coping mechanism. And while he struggled to name those negative emotions in various event stories, he could identify them in the end. His way to deal with them definitely isn't the most ideal, but it's actually not that bad imo (Niigo members are the worst in this regard). And yes hard agree that he needed to talk about them with someone (most likely the VS) before he burned out lol.

Also, the end of a star's life is either a big explosion/supernova that can create new stars or a blackhole, or just slowly dimming and cooling into a dark mass of nothingness. Choose your pick.

17. What songs would you like added to the game? Which units (if any) would you like to cover them?

we would LOVE to see a bocchi song covered by Leo/need, it would literally be so cool and fit so well!!! (link to a post w specific song matchups we made a while ago) aside from that:

- nee nee nee by pinocchiop covered by niigo (esp either mafuena or mizuena!!)

- sick sick sick by pinnochiop covered by saki

- ultimate senpai by pinocchiop covered by either WXS or mmj- I feel like it could apply really well to tsukasa or airi!!

- idol by yoasobi covered by mmj!!! it would be SO cool, as an idol song while being much more... intense? I guess is how I would put it? it would be awesome (+ kohane and an's va's covered it and they sound AMAZING!!!!)

- can't remember what it is in English (something hateful disdain maybe?) but this song would be SO so neat as a ruikasa cover. for real

- ai no uta/love song covered by mmj

- HONEYWORSK MMJ COVWR PLEASEEEE literally any song I can't think of the names right now but any of the idol ones would fit them so well

omg there are so many... we would love to see yukari, IA, Piko, Fukase, SF-A2 Miki, and flower added! even though we know it wouldn't happen, especially with some of the synth's company/rights stuff. I also think teto would be a super cool addition :)

we would super love to see yukari's different designs in different Sekais, she's one of our favorites and think she definitely has the range to fit into each Sekai perfectly <3

ok so we're going to do this as individual cards/not both trained and untrained, just one side, to make it easier to pick <3 also we numbered these but they aren't necessarily in order or anything

1) the resonating with you trained set!! we can't just pick one, they all go together so well and have such a lovely vibe to them!! the change in lighting/progression through the day, their outfits, how much fun they're having together, it's so good 💚

2) ok we're definitely biased because transmasc Mafuyu but this card is so pretty

3) Luka cherry blossoms!!! this is one of our absolute favorites, easily our favorite vocaloid card

4) yes we are doing another full Leo/need set we just love them so much and this set is so beautiful. the implications of moving on and train imagery honestly this whole event was AMAZING

5) WEDDING SHIZU!!!! this is one of our favorite costumes too shizuku is so so pretty

6) these cards are everything to us, probably our favorite mmj set- Minori focuses are always bangers and this one is no exception <3

7) get over it but specifically trained ichisaki + untrained ichi!!! the colors in this set are so good, they scratch our brain, and it just feels so funky and cute. plus we love any cards with multiple Leo/need members <3

8) re:tie friendship trained set!!!! yes another mmj set aksjajjd this is our 1st or 2nd favorite mmj sets, the lighting is gorgeous and it feels so... hopeful and emotional

right now our favorite is shizuku's wedding costume!!! we think it looks good on Ichika + are saving to get it for Mafuyu.....

A young, pink-haired student smiled brightly at the teacher as she walked through the door. They ran forward to embrace her in a hug, laughing as they did so. Behind them stood their two clubmates, watching with amusement.

“Mizuki, how many times do I have to tell you to call me Miss Sakine?” Despite her chiding, the teacher accepted Mizuki’s hug, hugging them back.

“Ah, sorry, Mei-nee!”

Meiko sighed. “You’ll never listen...” She turned her gaze towards where Kanade and Mafuyu were standing as if prompting them to answer her question.

When neither spoke up, Mizuki decided to. “We weren’t bothering the gardening club! Yuki-chan and I actually came up here to help! K-chan was tending to the plants before we got here, but since she doesn’t like sunlight I asked Ka-sama if I could leave to help!”

“Miss Megurine? I’m surprised she let you leave class,” Meiko murmured. “Well, as long as you don’t disrupt the gardening club, I suppose you can stay.”

“Yay! Thanks Mei-nee~!” With that, Mizuki skipped back over to Mafuyu and Kanade. They took Mafuyu’s hand and smiled. “Did you hear that, Yuki-chan?”

“Yup.” Mafuyu nodded.

“Then let’s get to work!”

Our goal as a club is to grow closer to the school by living inside of it!

“Mizuki, can you help me trim these plants?”

“Of course, K-chan!”

We work to be independent and socialise with the various after-school clubs that Kamiyama High offers!

“Ah, Kanade, these tomatoes look ripe. Should we pick them?”

“Yeah.”

“Fufu, fresh tomatoes! Yay!”

We’re here to have fun and learn while we’re doing it!

Suddenly, the door slammed open, and a small dog ran through it.

“Napkin! Get back here!”

There’s two more members I forgot to mention, though...

“Napkin?! How’d he get up here?”

“Did he just open the door?”

“Ah! He’s getting in the plants!”

“I got him!”

Mizuki lunged at the dog, only to miss horribly as he jumped over them.

“Ow...”

“Mizuki, are you okay?”

“Yeah...”

First there’s Napkin, our club dog! He’s an adorable little shiba inu!

“Napkin, here, boy!” Kanade bent down and held her hand out to him.

He turned away. Kanade looked rather disappointed.

“Napkin! Stop causing trouble!”

Then there’s Ena! She’s our newest member!

Napkin looked up at Ena, then also turned away from her and took off running into the plants. Mizuki scrambled up and ran after him, jumping at him again... only to miss.

“Ack! Napkin!” Mizuki complained.

“Napkin...” The dog stopped running as one last figure stood in his way. Mafuyu. She stared at him, seemingly frowning ever so slightly. “Do not trample on the plants.”

Napkin whimpered and backed down. Which allowed Mizuki to jump forward and grab him.

“Ah! Got him!”

“Thank you, Mizuki.” Ena hurried over to take him from them. “Napkin! You caused so much trouble today, did you know that?!”

“Did he open the door...?” Kanade asked. “Or was that you, Ena?”

“It was him,” Ena sighed.

“Whaaaaa?” Mizuki blinked, looking down at the dog. “Napkin, you can open DOORS?”

“He’s a lot smarter than we thought,” Mafuyu said bluntly.

“We should probably keep him on the leash at all times, shouldn’t we...” Kanade sighed. “Ena, can you do that...?”

Ena nodded. “Yeah. I can. Ugh, Napkin...”

“Hey, Nanan!” Mizuki stood up straight to look at Ena. “Once you get Napkin on the leash, you should come back up here and help Yuki-chan, K-chan, and I with the gardening club!”

“My name’s Ena, not...” Ena trailed off, shaking her head. “Ah, I would, but I’ve still got some studying to do. Sorry.”

“Aww!” Mizuki complained. “C’mon, it’s a club activity!”

“No can do,” Ena said. “I should get Napkin back down to the club room. When will you guys be done up here, do you think?”

“Around dinner time, maybe,” Mafuyu said.

“I can start making dinner, too, then.” With that and a wave, Ena was off through the door, holding Napkin tightly in her hands.

“Well, that was certainly... something,” Kanade said softly. “But we should hurry and finish up here. I’m getting tired being outside this long...”

“Ah! Right!”

We have our fair share of accidents around here, but for the most part the School Living Club helps out around the school!

“Mizuki, what are you doing?”

“Fufu~ Water fight, Yuki-chan!”

“Wh- Hey! No!”

We help the other clubs with their activities, and we provide a friendly environment for other students!

“Mizuki! Stop!”

“You’ll have to beat me first!”

“Mizuki, leave Mafuyu alone...”

“Come on, K-chan! It’s just a water fight~!”

And on top of that, school’s just a special place! Who wouldn’t want to stay here all the time?

“Kyaaaaaa!” Mizuki yelled as Mafuyu dumped a bucket of water on them. “Hey! That’s not fair, Yuki-chan!”

“You said water fight. Didn’t say I had to use a hose.”

“Phuu, now I need to go change...” Mizuki pouted. “Rude!”

“It’s what you get for starting a water fight.”

“Go change before you catch a cold, Mizuki,” Kanade chimed in.

“Alright! Er, can you guys finish up here?” Mizuki looked around. “I think I also left my backpack in the classroom... I need to go grab it.”

Mafuyu sighed. “Forgetful as always...”

“Hey!”

“We can finish here, don’t worry,” Kanade said. “Go change and get your backpack.”

“Thanks! I’ll see you guys back at the club room!”

Mizuki made their way down the stairs, running happily through the halls until they got to the club room. Upon opening the door, they found Ena sitting at the table, reading a book. Next to her, Napkin was on a leash, tied up to the table. Ena looked up as they entered.

“Oh, hey, Mizuki,” Ena said before frowning. “...Why are you wet?”

“Water fight with Yuki-chan!” Mizuki said cheerfully, going over to the closet to grab one of their other pairs of clothes. “She poured a bucket of water on me!”

“...You’re getting water all over the floor,” Ena commented.

“Ah! I am...” Mizuki looked at the trail of water. “Hehe... I didn’t mean to.”

Ena rolled her eyes. “Go get changed and dry off before you make more of a mess.”

“Mmm I’ll hurry!” Mizuki grabbed a towel and dashed to the bathroom to dry off.

Through all the ups and downs, I’ll always love this club.

After changing, Mizuki took to running down the hall to their classroom. They opened the door and peeked in. A few of their classmates were sitting around chatting, though the teacher didn’t seem to be there.

This club has given me a wonderful place to call my new home!

“Oh? Is that Akiyama?” One of their classmates looked over, giving them a smile. “What’d you leave in the middle of class for?”

“Oh! K-chan needed help with the gardening club!” Mizuki said, walking over to their desk to grab their backpack. “It took longer than I thought...”

“Is gardening really that time consuming or were you just skipping class?”

I’ve made many new friends thanks to the club too!

“Ah! It wasn’t gardening that took up so much time! Napkin got out!”

“...Napkin?”

“The School Living Club’s dog!”

“...You guys in that club are really spoiled, you know that?”

“Eh?!”

I wouldn’t trade it for the world.

“Having a pet dog in the school, it’s impressive how you got that approved!”

“Oh, Mei-nee fought really hard for it! Said it would be good for us, tehe~!”

“It seems to just be causing trouble...”

“Nah, he’s a good dog!” Mizuki glanced up at the clock. “Ah! I’ve got to get back to the club room! Nanan’s making dinner, and Yuki-chan and K-chan are probably back already!”

“Have fun!” their classmates called after them as they darted out the door.

“Thanks! Get home safe, you all!” Mizuki waved at them and left.

As they were running down the hall, they felt a cold breeze that stopped them dead in their tracks. They looked over to see the window open.

“Did someone forget to close a window?”

Mizuki walked over and grasped the edge of the window, shutting it tightly. They remained there for a moment, looking down into the field. The track team seemed to be working hard, though they looked to be almost the only kids that hadn’t left school yet.

“The school’s been getting really cold lately...” Mizuki mumbled, shivering slightly. “I wonder why. It’s not even close to winter. Huh...” Mizuki shook their head. “Well, back to the club room!”

My life here’s perfect!

Mafuyu leaned on the railing, looking over the school roof. She was completely silent as she looked down below at the field. Below, people seemed to be wandering aimlessly, bumping into each other, and generally seeming out of it.

“Mafuyu?”

“Yeah?”

“Are you alright?”

“...As fine as I can be.”

Kanade walked up to Mafuyu and stood next to her, following Mafuyu’s gaze. Upon seeing where Mafuyu was looking, the silver-haired girl grew silent. The two sat there for what seemed like forever, staring down below as the wind softly blew around them.

“I wonder if anyone’s in the archery field.”

“...Probably. They seem to have some memories of their old lives...”

“Mmm... Not enough...”

“Yeah...”

They fell into silence once more. Mafuyu dully stared at the people below - no, not people, she thought. It was hard for her to admit, but those weren’t people anymore. At one point, perhaps, but now...

...Just a bunch of mindless zombies...

I’m not surprised by the most popular groups (though as a l/n fan it does feel discouraging sometimes asdfghjl). But do you know the most popular characters for each unit and maybe why they are the most popular 🧐

thanks to elongated muskrat I can’t check any of the old stats accounts so this is from memory.

I believe the most popular character in Leo/need is Saki. I think part of it is the gyaru/genki girl personality, like she’s very fun and that usually appeals to a lot of people. Also she’s very popular with people who are disabled/chronically ill for obvious reasons. And like all the Tenma sibs (Incl Toya) are pretty popular, and specifically Tsukasa so I think she gets a bit of a boost from that.

More More Jump I actually am not sure. All I know is they used to consistently show up at the bottom on title stats alongside MEIKO and Honami. I think Shizuku was usually highest (this is for JP). Tbh from observation I’d say she’s probably the most popular MMJ girl in EN fandom as well. I think her looks might play a part in it I can’t lie but her voice and character arc probably help as well.

I think the most popular from VBS is Toya but again stats showed that he, Akito and Kohane are all pretty popular on JP and consistently showed up pretty close to each other (An is the least popular from VBS by a noticeable margin rip An 6ever in our hearts). Again like I said all the Tenma sibs are popular but I think his voice (on top of the fact that I’m fairly certain that itoken is one of the bigger names among the cast) and his “appears cool but is actually very soft” character archetype make him quite popular.

Tsukasa is the most popular character in the game no question on both sides of the fandom. He’s got a lot of appeal so like it’s totally understandable: his arc in the main story is a pretty solid “starts out as a jerk ends up being a nice person” kinda arc, he’s also the onii-chan character and the comic relief character. Seriously I think a large part of it is just because the game is very aware of the fact that he’s their weirdguy and treat him as such (it’s why i post so many facts about him because there’s so much stupid trivia dropped about him compared to everyone else; he runs on rule of funny 50% of the time).

N25 I think is the main one with clear different favourites between EN and JP. Mizuki is the most popular one on EN. Definitely connected to their trans swag bc a lot of fans connect to that (prsk has a largely queer fanbase on EN side). Also they’re pretty energetic and fun but also depressed and have a compelling backstory that again a lot of people can relate to. They’re very popular on JP as well just not the most popular.

For JP the most popular Niigo girl is Kanade. She’s like up there with Tsukasa on JP for most popular character. I think the appeal comes from her kindness and determination to save people despite her own trauma and she’s quite cute in an unconventional way (hikikomori) as well. I think there’s some boost from tomoriru as well being another bigger name for the cast. She voices for Revstar and voiced for Love Live Nijigasaki when the game launched, as well as some anime, and has a good following so that might be a contributing factor in her popularity.
