Day 4: Caranthir of @feanorianweek
Lordship
Yellow roses = Greed | Alliance
Caranthir has the oath of Feanor tattooed on his arm. I don´t know why he just has. Probably happened a drunk night while he was more filled of spite than usual. He leans more toward the Edain and dwarfish clothes and culture early on, in some situations, and his lack of social filter makes him more likable and trustworthy, to said people, making alliance and trade deals easier between them and himself than most Elvers would find it, not to mention him being good at math and handling, and adding, his wealth. I do think he had at least one wine yard, if that was in his own land or someone else's where he just rented doesn't matter as his wine was sought out and highly priced for its popularity and quality.
Maedhros | Maglor | Celegorm | Curufin | Ambarussa | Nerdanel and Feanor

Been a fan of your fics for YEARS. I was just telling my friend how despite how much I read fics I never actually love them, with some of your fics (especially TMA) as the exception. Felt the need to reread some of them and saw you reblogged some ISAT fanart. So. Any thoughts on ISAT you'd like to share?
Hope you have a wonderful day!! So happy I found your fics again!!
I avoided answering this for a while because I was trying to think of a way to cohesively and coherently vocalize my thoughts on In Stars and Time. I have given up because I don't want to hold everybody here all day and I have accepted that my thoughts are just pterodactyl screeching.
I love it so much. I have so much to say on it. It drove me bonkers for like a week straight. I have AUs. It's absolute Megbait. They're just a little Snufkin and they're having the worst experience of anybody's life. Ludonarratives my fucking beloved.
I am going to talk about the prologue.
The prologue is such a fascinating experience. You crack open the game and immediately begin checking off all of the little genre boxes: mage, warrior, researcher, you're the rogue...some little kid who's there for some reason...alright, you know the score. You're in yet another indie Earthbound RPG, these are your generic characters, let's get the ball rolling.
Except then you realize that these characters are people. You feel instantly how you've entered the game at its last dungeon, at the end of the adventure. They have their own in-jokes, histories, backgrounds, adventures. They get along well and they're obviously close, but not in a twee or unrealistic way. They have so much chemistry and spirit and life. I fell in love with them so quickly.
But Sif doesn't. Sif kind of hates them, because they will not stop saying the same damn thing. They walk the same paths, do the same things, make the same jokes, expect Sif to say the same lines. They keep referencing a Sif we do not see, with jokes we never see him make and heroic personality he never shows - they reference a Sif who is dead - and Sif can't handle that, so he kills them too.
They become only an exercise in tedious frustration. Sif button mashes through their dialogue, Sif mindlessly clicks the same dialogue options, Sif skips through the tutorial, Sif blows through the puzzles. Sif turns their world into a video game. Sif is playing a generic RPG. Sif forgets their names. They are no longer people with in-jokes, histories, backgrounds, adventures. They're the mage, the warrior, the researcher, and...some random kid.
I did not understand the Kid's presence at first. I had no idea what they contributed to the game. They didn't do anything. As a party member in a video game, they're a bit useless. Why is the Kid there?
Because Sif's life isn't a video game. Because the kid isn't 'the kid'. They're Bonnie. Bonnie, who the party loves. Why is Bonnie there? Because they love them. There is no room for Bonnie in the boring RPG that Sif is playing. And then you realize that Sif is wrong, and that they've lost something extremely important, and that they'll never escape without it.
Watching the prologue before watching ISAT gave ISAT the most unique air of dread and horror, because you crack open ISAT and you see the person Sif used to be. You realize that Sif used to be a person. Sif used to be the person who made jokes, who gave real smiles, who interacted with the world as if they are a part of it. And you know you are sitting down to watch Sif lose everything that made them a person, to lose everything that made them a member of this world, and turn them into a character in a video game who doesn't understand the point of Bonnie at all.
At the climax of the game, when the others realize that something is deeply wrong and that Sif physically cannot tell them, they realize that there is nothing they can do. So Bonnie declares snacktime. And for the first time they have snacktime.
What is snacktime? Classic JRPGs don't have snacktime. There's literally no point to a snacktime - not in a video game, and not in Sif's terrible life. It's not fixing this, because nothing can fix this. But Bonnie gives Sif a cookie and Sif eats it.
It's meaningless. It's a cutscene. It didn't save Sif and it didn't change a thing. It will make no difference in the end.
But it did make the difference. It made all of the difference in the world. Bonnie is a character who you really don't understand the point of before you realize that Bonnie was the entire point.
ISAT is about comfort media. Why do we play the same video games over and over again? Why do we avoid watching the finale of our favorite shows? What is truly comforting: a story with no conflict, or a story where you always know what is about to happen? Do you want to live in a scary, uncontrollable world, or do you want to play Stardew Valley? Do you want a person or a character?
When I beat Earthbound for the first time (and if you don't know, the prologue/ISAT battle system is just Mother) and watched the ending cutscene where the characters part ways and say goodbye...I felt a little bit sad. I wanted them to be together forever. But that's something only characters could ever be.

bro your pepperman and peppino comic hasn’t left my brain since i saw it. i just love the dynamic of a ginormous freak and peppino being both intimidated and flustered.. bro i wish there was more of those two
I should draw them some more bc i really like the dynamic ive written for them 😊 For u anon, i will share some minor (silly) thoughts ive had about them
-Pepperman absolutely has a little baby crush on this man. TEENY TINY. The kind of crush that means nothing- hes a little 💅🏾 and hes an artist like ur gonna be a little gay w all of the friends you make; thats just the way it goes 😭 Like Peppino is sooooo handsome and soooo strong and he can cook and hes smart and he doesnt stand down when confronted (he LOVES this the most). So people in Peppermans Rich Friend circle notice the complete 180 his personality does when Peppino is invited to outings. Its not that Pepperman is being weird and shallow or fake, its that Peppino is probably his First Friend that wasnt rich and snobbish in anyway. Some part of him really REALLY wants to impress Peppino and it makes him act a little ‘foolish’ heehee 😊
-Following up on this, Pepperman visits the pizzeria out of the blue like MONTHS after he first invites Peppino out for the art sessions and like okay maybe they are friends MAYBE…but like he is still kind of anxious bc the last time he came here he almost got his skinned so part of him is like ‘maybe hes only amicable bc feels obligated to cooperate within the walls of my studio…’ BUT he shuffles awkwardly into the shop and Peppino not only waves but SMILES at him while hes attending to a customer and Pepperman is like ‘HEEEHEEUHEEHOOO………….’
-Peppermans art is worth a fortune; he is very well respected in the art world and any pieces hes made (including self portraits) are absolutely stunning. His abstract art is as beautiful as his realism; auctioning them off and doing occasional commission work is how hes acquired most of his wealth. Because of this, it is a MASSIVE show of good faith and comradery that Pepperman will often gift art to Peppino. Unfortunately, Peppino will not accept statues or huge marble sculptures BUT Pepperman is delighted to see Peppino accept paintings and mini sculptures, even if he LOOKS a bit confused about it 😭
-SO… when Pepperman comes by the shop some weeks later, he is overwhelmingly excited to see one of his pieces hung up on the walls. The feeling of having his art fawned over in an art exhibit does not even BEGIN to compare to the excitement of seeing his art being displayed in this common mans shop. Its a portrait of Peppino, stylized, w some funky lookin colors. Nothing fancy or particularly evocative. Just. Peppino! Looking a bit wistful with colors winding around him.
Even Peppino is like (snrk) “Dont you have your fancy arts in a museum or something? Dont see the big deal ‘bout ‘a this.” But its HUGE its like…suddenly it is not just his muse entertaining his artistic vision…his muse VALUES his artistic vision………..it makes him SO happy. He thinks about it for days. Its like; he had no idea that this is what it felt like to have…inspiration and motivation from an Outside source. His art, while breathtaking, felt like it lacked something…Rich. Years and years of self reflection and introspection and Never expanding his horizons, never realizing he was Capable of expanding his horizons until now…he is just a lucky little pepper 🫑🌶✨

I dont have energy to draw but I'll just put this analysis? Speculation? here as my contribution to emmelyn. This was originally posted on twt but i decided to compile it here for better collection
I've been thinking what would happen if emmet and evelyn pursue this relationship and get married. Will evelyn be working at gear station then? Iirc the battle chatelaines are already struggling to maintain the battle maison after their parents' death. I feel they won't appreciate eve leaving. Just look at this backstory (Morgan's line when battling with Nita)
At this point i must bring up that the Battle Subway and Battle Maison seem to be quite different, the latter seem to be struggling, judging from how desperate Morgan sounds since she's always telling them to do things in order to attract patrons to the Maison. They're even afraid of her (seriously check their quotes). Also besides pokemas, xy and oras are the only games they appear.
This contrasts heavily with the Battle Subway which seem to be quite popular and doing well. Their popularity is even mentioned in other games they don't appear in. The twins don't even mind changing careers (source: pokemas, but that depends if you consider pokemas canon). Maybe the fact that they also run a transportation service contributes to their success as opposed to the Maison, which focuses on entertainment, but this is speculation.
With these info, it seems submas have slightly better social (and maybe financial?) status than the chatelaines (This might also explain why eve felt bad for 'copying' emmet, as she said in pokemas). This difference might present some challenges in emmet and evelyn's relationship. After all, you cannot overcome these with love alone. How would evelyn deal with emmet being more successful, when she's already lacking self esteem? Can emmet accept evelyn and her sisters, knowing well they're struggling?
Which also brings us to another question, will emmet get along well with evelyn's family? Emmet has a good relationship with his twin brother ingo, but the battle chatelaines seem to be afraid of their eldest sister Morgan (seriously check their quotes). Will he be able to accept this or will there be some tension between him and her? Will Emmet's honest and blunt personality cause a problem?
Besides that, Emmet battles to have fun, not to earn income or maintain his station like the chatelaines. Will he be shocked or will his enjoyment decrease, knowing evelyn and her sisters battle for different reason? Will he clash with Morgan, who try so hard to earn profit? She's already a bit desperate and try to recruit any strong challengers they got, look at her line here
I have a feeling that evelyn ending up with emmet will make Morgan scream with joy, for multiple reasons 😅
I don't want to make emmet like some sort of money making machine, but from chatelaines' perspective emmet might just be what they needed since he could potentially attract many new challengers from different demographic. Will Morgan try to coax him to join them? Battle chatelaine emmet? 😬
I swear I'm not trying to demonize Morgan, this is how shes written in game, it could be that she feel pressured to reign them in, to preserve the Maison, causing her to be a bit harsh to them? What if the reverse is true, with Emmet around, there's more challengers and she can finally relax and not be as harsh on her sisters?
Or will emmet and evelyn's unity not affect the chatelaines at all? Or is there some sort of unique way where it makes everyone happy? Much to think about. I don't think there's any correct answer to this question, but these are ways it could be interesting to explore. What do you think?

some people really are trying SO hard to misinterpret my post oh my god i never said we should be happy these guys died???? "this specific post is cruel is getting that point across" because i called "stupid" some people who had the money to create a state of the art submarine but instead decided to fire an engineer for raising safety concerns and ignored warnings from a lot of experts??? the mourning part wasnt even about tumblr users bc i did see a lot of posts raising awareness about asylum seekers in the mediterranean it was SPECIFICALLY about news coverages and politicians having insane double standards when it comes to people dying at sea.
