Me yesterday: Aww, Evelyn is such a shy bean! And her sisters are all of different colors and their names are references to different times of day, how clever!

Me today: The Battle Chatelaines are a family torn apart by the death of their parents and the subsequent failure of the Battle Maison as people stop coming by and its seriously weighing on all of them, Morgan is trying so hard to make it an enjoyable experience for their guests by not going all out and instructing her sisters to do the same but in doing so not only is she putting more stress on her sisters but it might actually be making the Battle Maison less popular because it isn't a challenge to those who want one and Morgan doesn't even realize that, Dana seems to know that Morgan is wrong but she feels she can't say so because Morgan terrifies her and as a result she holds herself back so much that she has two Pokémon on her team that aren't fully evolved or holding an Eviolite even though evolving them should be relatively simple, Evelyn has cracked under the pressure and is a complete nervous wreck with no self-esteem and she practically has a panic attack if she wins because it's been drilled into her head so much that she has to lose or people will stop coming by, Nita is the only one who enjoys herself and is confident and she's much more willing to go all out as evidenced by her being the only sister to have both her multi battles be in the super multi battle course but she is constantly chided by her sisters and especially Morgan for the attitude which could very well be the only reason the Maison is seeing any visitors at all anymore, WHY ISN'T ANYBODY TALKING ABOUT THESE CHARACTERS?!

After getting into the Submas community, I decided to take a look at the other Battle Faculty bosses in different games. The Battle Chateleines have really won me over.

I managed to get Evelyn and Nita in Pokemas too, need to focus on building them properly :3

Me scrolling through the doublebattleshipping tag (Emmet x Evelyn): I could make a PLA AU out of this.

Me: ...Goddamnit.

So yeah, new AU. In this, there's some interaction between the Emmet and Evelyn before Ingo gets eeby deebied. They obviously get along very well (once Evely gets over her anxiety), but of course the tension between the Chatelaines does hamper this relationship, especially since Evelyn actually feels pretty jealous of Emmet because the Battle Subway is so much more successful than the Battle Maison and Ingo and Emmet get along so well (and of course she feels supremely guilty for feeling so jealous). Not to mention that Morgan keeps subtly suggesting that Emmet join the Battle Maison which is Not Gonna Happen.

When Ingo goes missing, Evelyn does keep in contact for a bit, but she eventually convinces herself that she's just making things harder for Emmet, so she backs off. (She wasn’t making things harder, but Emmet knows her well enough to know that's probably why she broke off communication. That doesn’t help his mental state.)

Then, two months after Ingo disappears, Nita goes missing in the exact same way. Hence the title of the AU: the Nightfall AU.

The Battle Maison is immediately thrown into chaos. Not only was the Single Battle course the most popular, but Nita was the favorite of the Battle Chatelaines since she never held back as much and was much more of a challenge. So the Battle Maison loses about 35-40% of its visitors which drives Morgan up the wall. Even when she takes over the Single Course, there's still a noticeable difference in the number of people coming by since Morgan just doesn't challenge them.

This, of course, causes Morgan to get even more stressed. At first Dana and Evelyn put up with it, but Dana is getting more frustrated with Morgan. It all comes to a head when Morgan suggests that Nita ran away out of laziness, at which point Dana just. Snaps. She slaps Morgan and gets into a gigantic shouting match with her, while Evelyn hides in her room. She hopes this is a one-off thing, but it isn't, and Dana and Morgan start arguing more and more.

Eventually Evelyn just decides to leave. In part to get away from Dana and Morgan's arguing, but moreso to find whatever happened to Nita. So she gets in contact with Elesa, who agrees to let her stay, leaves her sisters a note, and travels to Unova. From there, Emmet and Evelyn work together along with Elesa to try and find where Ingo and Nita are, while Dana and Morgan are forced to get their act together at the Maison.

Okay so reading the other Chatelaine sisters quotes, the accent is still a thing, which just confused me ever more. They're from Hoenn. Were their parents from Galar, then moved to Hoenn, then to Kalos? I'm confused. What is this lore.

I drew myself as a pokemon trainer. Since there are no non player characters with unique sprites who use the inverse battle format, I decided that I would fill that role.

The concept is that this character can be encountered in the Battle Maison, but since the Inverse Battle format is not available in the Battle Maison, she is encountered randomly. And by that I mean she breaks in and causes problems...

I tried to make her silhouette contrast that of the Battle Chatelaines by making the shape of the skirt into a parasol, having the tall cuffed gloves instead be cuffed boots, and in trying to mirror the pumps I added weird little messed up half gloves with ✨The Oval✨ on the hands.

I also made the weird little design on the Battle Chatelaines' torso into a chatelaine (as in the weird belt thing)

I also used the belt from the gen 6 psychic trainer because of Psychic Inver. The top hat is also an hour glass if you're into that sort of thing.

I drew It on a 3DS because I do not own a drawing tablet or a good phone stylus, and my entire being is inexorably linked to a copy of Comic Workshop 2 for the Nintendo 3DS Family of Systems.
