We are baaaack!! Honestly, I like spreading out my rewatch because I binged all 10 in one sitting. Spreading out my rewatch makes the excitement last longer. Not that I'm running out of excitement. I will never get over this season and it's not even done AGH. ANYWAY. On to the episode!

They really decided that this was the episode to upload clips from.

I love this moment because it addresses that Lloyd is doubting himself, it acknowledges that Lloyd and Nya have been through way too much stuff, and it shows us that Lloyd does not want to put Arin and Sora through something horrific. He doesn't want them to experience "the horrors" too young like he did.

Kai being mad that Wyldfyre stowed away but not in like an angry way but in a "I don't want you getting hurt" way is just sooooo.

Sora is so right to be concerned. I would be too if I were her.

I get what Sora was trying to do with the grappling hooks, but I also feel like this isn't going to bode well for Arin. She made his thing something "cooler" because their elemental powers are involved.

I feel like we just need to remember all of their fears because it's absolutely going to be important to all of them later.

GRRR THIS EPISODE IS AMAZING.

I think we didn't see Kai's vision because they're going to bring it back later. I know some people are saying that it was of a corrupted version of himself, and honestly, I'd say that's a very likely assumption, given his history. He used to have a lust for power, and maybe he still does, it's just more subdued. If anything were to happen to him (pretend we haven't seen ep10 yet), he could likely succumb to that temptation for power.

ALSO I'm such a Lloyd "life" truther, so learning that it was the LIFE DRAGON who claimed him?!??!? Yes. I'm so excited to expand more on that.

i had an itching for comfort media so i went back to watch some s1 voyager episodes and s1 is soooo much better than i remembered. the later seasons appeal to my tastes a bit more but all the characters in s1 are so earnest and hopeful even when they butt heads and disagree and i'm just sitting here like "oh god they don't know what the next 7 years have in store..." i doubt it was that purposeful on the writers' part but it's so compelling how all of the characters have pretty open insecurities and are clearly people with lives and dreams beyond Voyager and bit by bit that's chipped away in later seasons. yes everyone becomes more confident and competent but is that really who they are or are they just losing themselves along the journey? (unfortunately the Doyalist explanation is just that the writers stopped putting focus on like. half of the main cast but shh i'm here for Watsonian analysis.)

like it's particularly noticeable with Janeway. she's definitely always been written as a strong leader but i forgot how much in early seasons we get to see her insecurities and vulnerabilities, how different she acts from when she's acting as captain to when she's alone, how often she questions her morality and whether she has the right to make decisions for her crew (and how often others questioned that right). then in the later seasons (around s3 and definitely by s4), she almost never questions her moral decisions, she rarely shows doubt, she plans heists on Borg cubes without a second thought, she dispenses her justice to the Equinox crew without really considering their position, she regulates others' autonomy (especially with Seven and the Doctor) without seeming to realize how easily that can go wrong. and don't get me wrong i love this development and think it's incredibly realistic for Janeway to deeply internalize her role and authority as a Captain and for it to permanently change her sense of self. Endgame is the perfect closure for Janeway's character because her future self exerts that same authority that she's been practicing over herself (also Janeway gets to live out her martyr complex one last time). i just wish the show was a little bit more self-aware that it was writing Janeway (and other characters) like this because there could be so many more interesting character conflicts.

anyways rewatching early ds9 made me say "aww these characters don't know that one day they'll all grow together and basically become family" and rewatching early voyager has me saying "uhohhhh these characters don't know the unhealthy relationships and neuroses they're going to uncover and develop". toxic found family for the win.

#forever obsessing over characters who change for the worst because of their duty and aren't even aware of how Changed they are #i started writing a fic about Janeway reuniting with her family post-Voyager and them being disturbed at how different she is and hmm #might need to get back to that one #anyways i maintain that sisko is the best written captain in star trek but i think janeway might be my favorite #alas it was inevitable... #also surprise surprise voyager is yet another show i'm enjoying so much more on rewatch #the first time through s1 to s3 took me like a year to watch through. now i've watched half of s1 in two days #voyager #kathryn janeway #my posts

i started playing season 6, and i've got shit to say for the half of dozen people that are still following me in this cobweb infested blog (i apologize, i'll be explaining what's happening on a different post)

i'm only on day 2 of the season, right when it's announced that roberto is coming (which is so disappointing to me that he isn't brazilian but portuguese, like... WHEN ARE WE GETTING A GOOD BRAZILIAN CHARACTER????)

anyway, here are my thoughts:

WRITING:

i actually didn't see much of a problem with it so far. it feels on par with similar conversations we had in the past, except this time we're getting to know them a little deeper than, say, season 3.

knowing bella's family situation or roberto's is kind of refreshing because we barely learned bobby had a sister on a throwaway scene on s2, so... yeah, it's ok.

i like how they express themselves because as an litg player, i'm used to some eloquence, but as someone who sometimes watches the show i HAVE to suspend my disbelief since i know islanders from the show are just... NOT GOOD AT EXPRESSING THEMSELVES, to say the least.

i like the conversations we had so far, it felt fluid and fun, but then again i've only coupled up with jamal, because obviousoly i did, who would i go for, fucking ryan? WAKE UP.

the challenges piled up but because of how many dialogues we had in this little time i think it worked pretty well.

CHARACTERS:

grace - girl, it's been a day and ozzy is not even that hot. HAVE YOU SEEN YOURSELF? he's punching, not you. chill. (and i hate they're giving the intensity they gave hope here, feels bitterly familiar and they better fucking knock it off).

bella - FINALLY a girl i like who's available and slutty (affectionate) since the beginning. i absolutely think bella might be right there with talia when it comes to arc as an LI, but we'll see. if anyone dares stealing her or if fusebox even make the slight suggestion of a slowburn i'm burning their HQ idc

ivy - alright i see you bootleg marisol, but i don't give a shit, you're annoying, die in a hole.

amelia - i think she's putting a front and deflecting the negative attention to ivy but that's just me. also, the twist of the public choosing who she should couple up with before she could tell us is extremely dumb and unnecessary, but also a reason for her to say a different name later, maintaining her image of good sister. i don't trust her, i WILL step on her head to the finale, die in a pit you're also annoying.

jamal - i like the attention but everything with moderation gives me way more tingles than a crybaby that can't stop talking about how he wants to be with me again. we were coupled up for a few hours and only had one conversation, chill bitch. it's giving ted mosby and every himym fan knows how bad that is. i'm not sure if every guy that the public chooses to be with amelia on night 1 acts the same, but i'm slightly turned off. it's too much boy, calm down, i'm here to be a slut, calm down.

ryan - get a haircut or let it grow because looking twelve and the coolest lesbian at the same time is not the look for you. its giving hipster with a chemistry kit at the local café.. also, either you're the douchey musician or a bad poet, you can't be both, PICK A STRUGGLE.

lewie - the impersonation of being stuck in traffic. i don't care for you, die in the same hole as ivy and amelia.

ozzy - fucking pulling the noah, man. i've seen this before and i'm not interested. stop being such a coward and tell grace how you feel. i know for a fact you're gonna be drama and it's because you refuse to be honest. it's so embarrassing, bestie.

roberto - HOT. i only saw the preview but i'm excited.

PACING

it's great. i think it was kind of weird how fast and furious it was with some previous seasons (remember the last season i played was 3 and half of 4 {it was soooo tedious i gave up half way through}) but i think so far it's ok. it definitely has better cliffhangers than other times when they thought they tried their darnedest.

OBSERVATIONS WITH SCREENSHOTS:

there's no fucking way they thought these were worth diamonds. and 22 diamonds for that frufru purple shit??? it looks like something who doesn't sew would put together with a hot glue gun, stop.

ivy i might kill you like they kill one of those vampires at the end of the twilight saga, by opening your mouth so wide it cracks off your skull. SHUT - UP.

and amelia... you're irrelevant, get out.

BUDDY, YOU'RE THE MOUTHPIECE OF THE GROUP NOW, HOLY SHIT. grace has me on my knees, i can't.-

bitch, we did! i kissed you in the challenge. EXCUSE YOUR BEAUTIFUL SELF! (also, for the breasts appreciators, i feel you, boobs are great, really! but like, those... two... lines... coming out of the bikini???? yeah, that is actually what gets me. you didn't need to know but i told you anyway, because i'm happy bella is hot and cool and i don't know how to shut up when i'm love, leave me alone!) whoever designed her knew EXACTLY what they were doing.

i'll give ryan some cool points because 1, he burned ivy in front of everyone, and 2, he admitted and owned up to it. good for you, bestie, good luck when you take a trip to the hair salon and get rid of that... hair. also, STOP SKIPPING LEG DAY BUDDY. from the waist up it's giving "abs, hot, i go to the gym", from the waist down is giving "i'm twelve and there's a reason i go to the beach in pants".

bella and grace looking naked and glamorous but feeling threatened by this ugly ass dress is the funniest joke in the writing so far. truly. i've had mermaid costumes at 4 years of age less embarrassing than this atrocity. stop lying, bella and grace, YOU'RE BOTH NAKED AND PERFECT.

and that's what i have to say so far. i'll continue playing this season until they inevitably fuck up. i'm not being pessimistic, i'm just... well, i guess i am. but i have no reason to believe otherwise.

also, i keep forgetting ozzy is here even though it's been a day. idk why.

anyways, i'll come back with more litg brain rot in a bit.

Currently Reading: A lot of books and I'm not close to finishing any of them. Here's the list: Daisy Jones & The Six, NeuroTribes, American Gods (audiobook), and The Kiss Quotient. I had to start Daisy Jones today because there are soooo many holds on it at my local library.

Currently Craving: I developed a new craving for almonds, dried fruits, and cheeses as a snack. I didn't think I was this person but apparently, I am. (What person exactly...shrugs)

Last Thing I Searched (for writing): The taste of champagne for a general search. I also get in the habit of googling words that I already know the meaning of but I want to make sure I know their meaning during drafting. Today's words of the day are "surly," "proclivity," and "overcautious."

thinking abt when they’re established but not public (private but not secret 🫶) and oscar and lando are the only ones that really know the full extent of it. charles and pierre and alex just think they’re hooking up but landoscar have the threat of their careers being ended if they ever let it slip - not that max would ever actually throw his precious protégée under the bus like that.

it’s valentine’s day and they have a fucking busy service naturally and suddenly alex is sticking his head into the kitchen from front of house and going ‘shit, russell’s here - mate, you might not want to take that break i know it’s scheduled but-’ oscar and charles’ heads snap up and oscar knows better than to let charles say anything as max just nods and goes to take his chef’s whites’ top off and trade it for a white shirt. he passes back through the kitchen and everyone’s like wtf. wtf? wtf. we’re reallllly letting service drop after the article george published last week??

max throws an ‘it of course will be fine everyone, the service has been run really very well - charlie, take over and oscar sous please,’ before he’s going and sitting down with george for their valentine’s dinner <3 alex has been given their table bc he’s the best server and they thought it was just george dining to critique so he ends up serving max with a half smirk half outraged face. ‘mhmm mr russell of course, and for you, chef? well, i’ll have pierre over with some wine options for you immediately…’ and that’s how everyone finds out that they’re not JUST having hate sex

(charles debriefs with pierre after they’ve closed on just how outrageous it is that max didn’t tell them that he was SEEING not just fucking russell) (george writes an article critiquing some tiny aspect of the dish but in reality rests his hand on max’s thigh under the table and tells him that it was really rather good sweetheart and that you’re lucky your sous is so well trained princess)

i’m also so enamoured by the idea of max naming things on his menu as little inside comments that only him george or his team know. ‘tulle’ is a dessert they run in winter for a princess’ dress and ‘champs elysees’ for george’s flat or an elevation of the dish that george had ordered the first night they fucked.

i also love george begrudgingly keeping up with oscar’s career bc max has basically kitchen adopted him… doing one of his only ever complimentary pieces on mark webber and max verstappen’s protégée already working in a projected michelin resteraunt. the party when they earn their next star is insane (george is invited and serenaded with a wall of clippings of his best quotes from his critiques and has to pay for lando and oscar to get a cab home bc they’re both so drunk and giddy) (max cries when they get back to george’s flat bc this is the first star where it’s truly felt like his own and george has nothing but lovely things to say)

the hush of the restaurant and the conversations dying as THE max verstappen slides into the chair opposite george and they’re both like. hi. hi. and they talk to each other, perfectly aware that the entire restaurant is watching them link their fingers together as they peruse the wine list and murmur low to each other about grape acidity and seasonality. then pierre, who is the maître d, kicks the room back into motion with a smooth joke on a nearby table and suddenly everything is moving again, the world cranks back up and george and max get to be just two people in it existing, not the reputations and personas they’ve built up in the last ten years, not feeling a need to keep up appearances but actually just two diners connecting over great service and great food.

and later, the team cleans up and packs up. they all say their goodbyes. maybe george pulls up in his vintage lil car near the back and oscar’s smoking in the back alley with alex and they both wave at max on the way out.

“happy valentine’s day,” they say, a little teasingly to max. “practice safe sex!” oscar shouts, over the embers of his cig.

“shut the fuck up or i’ll put you both on tile scrub duty!” max yells back. the laughter follows max as he yanks open the car door and climbs in.

george rolls his eyes. but then the door closes, and the world goes silent. and he’s looking right at max.

“must you always be so incredibly filthy mouthed.”

“yeah?” max says, eyes flicking down to george’s mouth, which is already starting to part with surprise, at how hungry max is all the time for him, how strange but good they are together because of and not in spite of their differences. how obvious max’s need always is. not like george, always feeling a need to conceal, be unflappable. max who paints with every colour, in the strongest shade.

“but you like that so much about me.” max adds.

“and that’s our dilemma, isn’t it, choux?”

ted going full self-deprecating in the face of nate’s insults is so perfect too. like yes, he still compliments nate, never says a bad word about him, refuses to stoop to his level. but it endears him to the public-- and, crucially, it also IS kind of a way to backhandedly get at nate. it’s a way for ted to come off looking more clever and quick-witted and smart, at the end of the day. it’s a way for him to win this battle without ever putting up a fight.

interesting too how it calls back to the advice he gives rebecca in s1 at the gala-- “just a trick of the trade, make fun of yourself, right off the bat. folks will love that.” here he’s employing his own advice. making fun of himself to endear himself to the public.

“i’ve had more psychotic episodes than twin peaks” SO interesting to me that he’s able to so freely talk about the panic attacks and make fun of himself for it here… very very interesting. not sure how i feel about that

It's been soooo long and idk if you're in the loop (I'm not particularly ahdhgh) but choose violence asks for Endeavour: 1, 8, 12, 21. Or another fandom if you'd prefer :D

I'm also only partly in the loop on Endeavour but it's still near and dear to me, and often on my mind so I'll go for it 😅

1. the character everyone gets wrong

not nearly as much of an issue now as in the Old Days before the audience shifted a bit and the shows portrayal of Morse got comparatively darker, i think, but I mean. It is still Morse himself lol. Morse definitely gets the woobie baby treatment, and I do it and love it too in whumpee situation fics tbh! but especially in the earlier seasons there was a lot of fic where I kept feeling like Morse's temper and his tendency to fight back/nit-pick/keep hounding you with your opinion until you were sick of him were kind of half dropped for this dreamy passivity. And again, I do and did it too, tbh, and there's a contemplative dreaminess to the tone/aesthetic of Endeavour that invites it! (plus the wishfulfillment of him letting people look after him lmao) but uhhh. He's still very much the stubbornest man in the whole of Oxfordshire so it's never quite that easy.

8. common fandom opinion that everyone is wrong about

hmm. I'm not sure it's prevalent anymore but it did drive me crazy when the popular opinion was that the whole of Morseverse was literally contiguous, when IMO, each of the segments are their own thing with their own characterization and are therefore slightly AU from one another. I would say Classic Inspector Morse and Inspector Lewis canons are the most directly related and the original Novels and Endeavour are the least directly related.

12. the unpopular character that you actually like and why more people should like them

I suppose it would be Sam Thursday, because even though he ended up as such a destructive force in the relationship between Morse and Thursday, I find his character fascinating and I've always wanted to know more about his perspective on both his father and on Morse. And on Joan and her wanderings for that matter. He's a key player who's mainly only 'seen' from the outside in the narrative and that makes me want to dig in.

Also Dorothea! Not that people don't all adore here, she's just not often the focus that I've seen. I really want to do Dorothea fic at some point!

21. part of canon you think is overhyped

I do think the sort of 'downfall of morse' and the framing of Morse's drinking in the last few seasons is simultaneously deftly drawn, over-praised and somewhat misguided. It's another case of revisionism, at least from the perspective of someone who hasn't ever gotten into the books but watched all of original Morse multiple times. It's a very modern framing of Morse's addiction issues and melancholy and for me it ended up feeling too literal compared with the slow creep of it in IM Morse. And also like Russ Lewis ended up going too hard in trying to 'explain' Morse by the end of s9, because between Joan and Fred and the Drinking you'd end up thinking he'd be a lot worse off than he actually appears to be in 1986 when Robbie appears on the screen and the original show begins

The Targ Talk (a review series): House of the Dragon episode 10 (Season finale)

Note: I've decided to write another post about MY overall thoughts about the first season of this show.

-That mother and son moment between Rhaenyra and Luke 😭 I love the queen as a mother, she is never hard towards any of her children. She always makes sure to be there every step of the way. On top all that, my heart aches because I know of the fate of Lucerys, it was a bittersweet moment between them and I will never be able to move on.

-The look on Daemon and Rhaenyra's face when they found out about Viserys' death was EVERYTHING!!! The queen's disbelief and the anger on the prince was *chef's kiss*

-Jacaerys standing up for his mother when Daemon was ignoring his wife, pretty much what Ser Harwin would have done if he was alive.

-Watching Rhaenyra give birth to Visenya while refusing the midwives' help, her pulling the baby out only to find out she was dead, cradling her little dead body, and finally wrapping her corpse while crying was so heart-wrenching! And she did all that on her own. Then the moment Daemon crowned her (with the same crown Viserys I donned), the grieving mother in her was put aside and she became a queen, and it all happened on the SAME FUCKING DAY!

Fun fact: After finding out about Viserys' death and Aegon's coronation, Rhaenyra went into labor. There she shrieked curses, calling down the wrath of the gods upon her half-brothers and stepmother, detailing the torments she would inflict upon them before they let them die. According to Mushroom, she cursed the child inside her, clawing at her belly as Maester Gerardys and her midwife were trying to restrain her and shouting, "Monster, monster, get out, get out, GET OUT!" -Speaking of the birthing scene, I love that part that when Rhaenyra was screaming in pain and Syrax was feeling it too 🥺

-I think the difference between the coronations of Aegon and Rhaenyra were night and day. Aegon was crowned in the Dragonpit, in the eyes of the commonfolk who had no idea who he really is and what kind of king he will be. Whilst his sister's coronation, although wasn't done traditionally, was witnessed by her family and the people who were loyal to her WHO, by the way knows what kind of a person she truly is.

-Daemon and Otto meeting at Dragonstone and Rhaenyra appearing with Syrax, and our queen once again preventing a bloody battle, I would love to see Daemon cut off Otto's head though.

Fun fact: It was Grand Maester Orwyle who went to Dragonstone and laid out Aegon's terms and conditions. Rhaenyra heard these terms in stony silence then asked Orwyle if he remembered her father to which he replied, "yes." Then the queen reminded him of who her father named as heir and questioned why Orwyle was serving Aegon. Some accounts say that Orwyle cited the Great Council of 101 as his reasons, then another source said that the dude peed himself while answering to Rhaenyra. Either way, Rhaenyra wasn't satisfied with his answer and stripped him off his chains and gave it to Maester Gerardys. (Source: Fire and Blood by George RR Martin)

-Hi Vermithor! Also, I love that High Valyrian song Daemon was singing.

-Aemond and Vhagar chasing Luke and Arrax was so intense! You can tell Lucerys was scared the shit out of his wits and Arrax sensed that Vhagar was a threat, soooo poor baby spit on granny's face and Vhagar has zero patience for younglings and there you have it. Anyhoo, this scene didn't fall any short of excitement. Oh, and I love Aemond's sapphire eye.

Fun fact: During the battle between Aemond and Lucerys, watchers on the castle walls saw distant blasts and heard a shriek cut the thunder. Then the two beasts were locked together, lighting crackling around them, since Vhagar was five times Arrax's size, so the battle could not have lasted long. Arrax fell, broken and swallowed by the waters of the bay. Then Lucerys' corpse washed up as well and Aemond plucked out his eyes and presented them to Lady Maris on a bed of seaweed. Some say that Vhagar swallowed Lucerys whole, and some claim that Luke survived the ordeal, swam to safety, but lost all his memories and lived out the rest of his days as a simpleminded fisherman. -Rhaenyra at the end. I had freaking goosebumps! The anguish, the anger, her eyes telling the audience: There is going to be blood. Her throwing away everything she promised to Viserys to keep the realm as one, and become the vengeful queen who wants nothing but to kill every living Hightower and their allies was AMAZING!

Fun fact: Rhaenyra collapsed when she heard of Luke's death. Joffrey swore vengeance against Aemond and Borros, only the intervention of Corlys and Rhaenys kept the boy from mounting his dragon at once. As the black council sat to consider how to strike back, a raven from Harrenhal arrived, "An eye for an eye, a son for a son," Prince Daemon wrote, "Lucerys shall be avenged." -Emma D'Arcy's performance from Rhae's first scene as an adult up to the last was top notch. Emma was able to pull-off Rhaenyra as a woman, a queen, a wife and mother. They are a living example that a talented actor is someone who can portray ANY character, be it a cis-man, woman or a member of the lgbtqia+ community. Y'all are hyping up Rhaenyra so much and I love her too, but let's also give credit to the person who worked so hard to deliver her character.

-That table lighting up was the coolest thing I've seen in this episode, it was so beautiful and it was like watching the opening of HotD. Whoever did that deserves a raise!

[Meh]

-Rhaenyra holding Lucerys' hand for the last time, I was like NOOOOOO MY QUEEN! It's a bad idea, let ravens do their thing. But alas, this boy's ending is tragic just like the rest of his family.

-So prior to episode 10's premiere, I've read a spoiler on twitter about the birthing scene when Rhaenyra was asking for Daemon to be beside her and this motherfucker chose to do something else other than be with his wife. Maybe it had to do with his trauma on Laena's difficult labor and eventual death, he has already seen his first wife and older brother in so much pain…perhaps he couldn't bear to witness such a horrifying incident as this. But like the rest of y'all, I fucking hate that he wasn't beside this wife when she needed him the most, and I curse whoever wrote and assassinated his character. Though, I am glad that they didn't cut the part when Daemon saw Rhaenyra cradling their dead babe, and then he went out and grieved on his own. HBO did him so dirty when they omitted the scene of him comforting his daughters.

-This is connected with what I've said earlier, despite everything that happened she tried her best to prevent bloodshed. But either way, neither the greens nor the blacks would yield to one another, and even if Luke didn't die, war was never out of the question. Like I said in my previous post, Aegon has already won the hearts of the commonfolk, her ascending the iron throne will never not be questioned or challenged. It was a painful reality Rhaenyra failed to acknowledge at first due to her desire to reign in peace (I have nothing against it though, but you get the point).

[WTF]

-THE CHOKING SCENE WAS SO OUT OF PLACE! Daemon Targaryen is a murderer, a crazy bastard, and a ruthless warrior, but it's so fucking out of character of him to suddenly have an outburst simply because Rhaenyra didn't agree with what HE wanted, didn't know about the song of ice and fire, didn't take bullshits from prophecies, and Rhaenyra considering Aegon's terms and conditions (take note: she never said she would yield, but perhaps think of her own ways to negotiate with her brother). Most likely, Daemon would have acted on his own just like what he fucking did at the Stepstones (remember him refusing Viserys' help and did a one-man army stint instead?). I would have understood the banter between husband and wife, but again, there was no part in that conversation where him suddenly grabbing Rhaenyra's neck out of the blue was necessary. He would kill and harm anyone, but NEVER his family and NEVER RHAENYRA! I fucking hate the fact that they wrote Daemon in such a way that all of his redeeming qualities were diminished in a single fucking scene!

-I also hate that they did not include a scene from the book wherein Daemon vowed to avenge Lucerys for Rhaenyra. This character assassination is unforgiveable!

Fun fact: When Rhaenyra had her council meeting with the Blacks, Daemon AGREED with Rhaenyra to NOT be so rash about going into war (considering the number of dragon riders they had, and also considering the fact that one of their enemies' dragon is Vhagar). Daemon instead laid out his plans and strategies, he planned for the coronation of his wife (and he crowned her himself too), and called the lords of the Seven Kingdoms to declare allegiance to their true queen. Daemon himself said to "fight this war with words before we go to battle." (Source: Fire & Blood by George RR Martin)

Again HE NEVER CHOKED RHAENYRA! Whoever the fuck butchered his character deserves to be dracarys-ed!

-So…y'all are telling me, that being dumb runs in Alicent's family? That Aemond was just messing with Luke, and his death was an accident? The war started because of an accident…that is about the biggest bullshit I have ever seen all throughout this show so far.

Fun fact: When Lucerys Velaryon was escorted out of Borros Baratheon's palace, the second daughter of Lord Borros (Maris) who was angry with Aemond for preferring her sisters than her asked Aemond, "Was it one of the eyes he took? Or one of your balls?" her tone as sweet as honey, "I am so glad you chose my sister. I want a husband with all his parts." And that's when Aemond lost his shit and went after his nephew. How would you rank all the season one episodes?

i've put this off for couple of days, because damn, anon, this is really hard...

episode 9 'the green council' - i'm aware i'm in the minority here but i love this episode, it's focused on greens, i got alicole, i got aemond&alicent family moment, i got aegon being crowned, i got aegon&aemond spit fight, i got criston&aemond father-son time, viserys FINALLY gone, otto being cunt, murder, tyland being cunt, more murder and i like rhaenys. i have problems with this episode writing wise but i'm not gonna lie i have watched it couple of times unlike the others

episode 7 ‘driftmark’ - deserves to be in a second place if for nothing else than for the interogation/eye scene alone, but there is so many other great tidbits, and it’s also so stupidly dark

episode 8 ‘the lord of the tides’ - alicent queening, vaemond my dude i’m so sorry, and that damn iconic dinner scene, paddy considine is coming for his emmy for this episode alone

episode 6 ‘the princess and the queen’ - the first time we got emma and olivia as rhaenyra and alicent and i was charmed. criston calling rhaenyra a cunt and proceeding bully harwin is one of my favorite things in a show. sorry harwin, i had you for 5 minutes but you were great.

episode 5 ‘we light the way’ - for alicent being iconic in her green dress, for criston’s first murder and for that last scene

episode 10 ‘the black queen’ - for aemond wanting luce’s eye for alicent, i can’t help but stan

episode 1 ‘the heirs of the dragon’ - it was a good set up episode, alicent and rhaenyra were so adorable and alicole looked at each other.

episode 3 ‘the second of his name’ - i liked this episode, the hunt setting was interesting, baby aegon, queen alicent...

episode 2 ‘the rogue prince’ - it was okay, some memorable moments for sure

episode 4 ‘king of the narrow sea’ - ngl i fast forwarded half of this episode, way too much daemon, i was bored, i was annoyed

it’s no secret i prefer the second half of the show, i didn’t care for the crabfeeder one bit, i didn’t care for daemon drama at all and while i love emily carey’s alicent, i adore olivia’s version. also alicole, that’s a big thing for me and aemond (both versions) just elevated the show so much. soooo, yeah, that’s my list

"wait, it has 18 seasons!?" i look at the article on her phone.

"How do you think I feel, Wukong is everywhere. I can't go anywhere without Monkey King this, Monkey King that" Albino rat complains.

"wanna watch it and see how bad it is?" I offer, holding up the remote.

"How can I refuse that" Albino rat gets up from the chair. She sits down to the bed, she lifts me up and put me down on her lap, wrapping her arms around me.

I turn the Tv on and select Zetflix. I scroll through the options and after a bit I found it. I click on it and it begins playing.

The screen turns black and the narrator begins talking about Monkey King's origin.

a stone appears, it begin to slowly crack before it Burst opens revealing an animated monkey.

"Hey Albino, did you know Monkey King's origin story?" I ask my mentor.

"Well one, that info wasn't really public back then and two, do you think im interested in how that flee eater came into this world" Albino rat scoffs.

"oh right..."

A knock at the window catches both of our attention.

"who would be here at 12 PM?" Albino rat removes her arms from me so I could check.

"no idea, maybe it's Mei" I open the window to see no one. I look down to see a yellow rose.

I grab it and retreat back into my apartment.

"A yellow rose?" Albino rat grabs the flower from my hand and inspects it.

"Do you think someone left it there?" I grab a vase and fill it with water.

"ooorr you have a secret admirer" Albino rat jokes.

I put the vase down on the table. I grab the rose from albino and put it into the vase.

"I don't think it's an admirer, yellow roses symbolizes friendship. And secret admirers usually tries to win the affection from a distance but not friendship"

"You don't even know this person and you are in the friendzone" Albino rat chuckles.

I roll my eyes and sit back onto Albino rat's lap.

"I'll just buy some flower food tommorow"

I look up to see a young girl, seeming the age of 12. She was holding her hand out for me.

With a bit hestitation, I grab it and pull myself up. A snatch my back from the ground.

"thanks" I turns around, ignoring my gut feeling that something was wrong.

I stop when I notice a missing poster of the girl, I turn back to see the girl gone.

I sigh "I need to get more sleep"

I walk out of the grocery store with a bag full with products.

some flies onto my face, blinding me. I grab and inspect it.

He had dissapeared before I woke up and he apparently stole my favorite hoodie. Jerk

I fold the poster and put it in the bag. I walk home, trying ignoring the intens alarms going off in my head.

I pull out my keys and open the front door.

"Albino, I'm home" I put down the bag.

I look around the corner to see Mei and Albino rat talking.

"What!?" I yell out.

i feel like i've finally organised myself a good tv schedule each week! 2020 ruined more than global health it also stripped me of all my favourite shows lol so this year i decided i need to find myself a new collecton of shows to keep me company. i need more in my life than streaming shows that drop like 6 episodes one day a year and only run for 2 or 3 seasons. the current tv landscape is my hell!!!!! i want to spend at least half the year with characters watching them go on both important and unimportant adventures, how else am i supposed to get to KNOW them! anyways i feel like i have succedded and am super happy with the shows i get to spend time with every week:

The Rookie: wanted to check it out because Nathan Fillion is always a good time and he's still a good time! It's fun, i like all the characters a lot, and it feels like a show that's still in its prime at season 5 so i'm hoping its around for a few more years :)

The Winchesters: good god its SOOOO good. I didn't know what to expect of it, i was pretty confident/excited since i knew Jensen was behind it, and he brought on one of Supernatural's best writers to showrun it, but you still just never truly know what to expect, but from episode 1 it was the highlight of my week i LOVE it omg. Jensen said it was picked up for 13 episodes and he's hoping they'll order a longer season 1, and so do i because i want to consume this show.

Walker: my weekly fix of Jared Padalecki plays a dad :') The thing i like about Walker is how relaxed i am watching it rofl, i'm not overly emotionally invested, i just get to tune in, see what the family's up to, watch Jared parent some kids, and relax at the end of the week. Desperately needed a show like that!

Walker Independence: the new spin off set in the old West which i wasn't sure what to make of but is SO good! I'm enjoying it so much, it took me by surprise lol. also it's v fun to have a period piece to watch, there's still a gap that Reign left behind but even though this is as different a period as you can get, it's kind of doing it for me!

Big Sky: Had literally never heard of this until it was announced Jensen would be on it, i decided not to catch up on the earlier seasons but just jump in with him, and it seems like the kind of show you can do that with. Tbh i wouldn't keep watching it if Jensen wasn't on it, it's not super engaging, but i have a very good time whenever he's on screen so this is a fun little interlude to add to my roster for the next month or two!

shows like the flash (about to finish 😭), a million little things (a new venture i found as they announced the next will be their last season 😭😭) and superman & lois (also a recent venture that is NOT ending and i'm going to stick with!) aren't coming back til the new year. my life feels so much more like it's on track when i have a clear schedule of tv during the week, i feel more like myself than i have for a year 😂

Currently Reading - The Master and the Margarita by Mikhail Bulgakov. I joined a Pedra Pascal book club this year; this is the only book I could find at Half Priced Books. Very surreal. Feels like reading a Salvidor Dali painting. But if I'm being honest I'm almost entirely reading Stranger Things fics

Last Song - Candy Says by Velvet Underground because of an Eddie Munson fic I loved and now because my brain is a sieve can't remember who wrote it. Otherwise my go-to recently is Never Too Much by Luther Vandross it's too good. It might be my vecna song. Last Series - Finally finished Stranger Things S4 two days ago. I had the ending ruined for me by someone on July 1st and out of protest didn't watch it for a while and finally found the strength to finish. But I'm almost done with season one of Hacks on HBO and am surprised how much I've enjoyed it so far.

Last Movie - unfortunate it was that last Doctor Strange movie. The multiverse of madness or whatever the fuck it's called. I have a lot of thoughts about how bad this was and its lazy ass writing and storytelling but I won't bore anyone with those opinions now....as if anyone will read this lol

Sweet/Spicy/Savory - I'm definitely a spicy/savory person. I do love a dessert don't get me wrong, but I have no problem saying no to one if offered and it's something gross like those supermarket sugar cookies. Oddly enough, as a chef, I prefer to bake when I'm upset or stressed. Love the precision of baking over the unpredictability of general cooking.

Currently Working On - Not a writer, my ADHD will just not allow me to sit still long enough to do it and I'm always bouncing from one idea to another. I do sometimes dream of helping some of the wonderful and endlessly talented writers on here or AO3 either as a beta (imma be honest I think I know what this means, but I'm probably wrong lol) or just a sounding board for ideas.

My two favorite halloween/horror movies are Scream (1996) and The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning (2006). Scream is a classic, I don't have to talk about that one. But Billy and Stu are sexy and I love that the film subverts expectations by giving us 2 killers instead of 1.

TCM (2006) is a prequel to The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (2003) and you could watch them in either order to be honest. They're both great. I just prefer 2006 because Thomas (Leatherface) wears a half-mask in that one so we get to see his eyes and his glorious hair. Sexy chainsaw man go brr. And naturally I love The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (1974) because I love Bubba and Nubbins. And the door slam scene and the chainsaw swinging scene and the 70s fashion and the grab/hook scene. Ugh. Amazing. That being said, the ableism in the beginning it rough to watch if you're sensitive to it. Texas Chainsaw Massacre (2022) is kind of.. not great. It's watchable, but you'll probably not like any of the main characters and they made Bubba a Michael Myers clone which ruins his character. I'd say you probably won't like this one if you like the other TCM movies. If you like Halloween you might like it though? Watch this one first if you want to like it.. lmao.

I also suggest Hocus Pocus for a halloween movie because it's a classic and I love the witches.

A Nightmare on Elm Street (1984) fucking sucks; don't waste your time unless you're really dedicated to seeing Johnny Depp in a crop top for like 3 minutes.

The original Halloween is also bad in my opinion, I'd recommend the Rob Zombie remake instead.

Saw 1 and 2 are really good but don't watch them if you hate being stressed out or if you don't like gore. A lot of people say those movies are torture porn and I wouldn't necessarily say that for the first two, but there's still a lot of gore in them. Not as much as in the other ones but... you know. Needle Pit. The Mask. Reverse Bear Trap.

The Babadook is really good and scary. It's very psychological. Midsommar is good too but I wouldn't say it's scary? Like, outright? Us (2019) is super freaky, definitely watch that. Jennifer's Body isn't scary (to me), but it's sexy so for sure watch that one. Orphan (2009) is really good and a prequel just came out that is ALSO insanely good and I beg you to watch both. The Orphanage (2007) is freaky and I recommend that too.

Pan's Labyrinth isn't technically a horror movie but it can get creepy as fuck and is really good. The Dark Crystal isn't horror but it can also get creepy so that and The Neverending Story could be good to watch. If you watch those two, throw in Labyrinth (1986) as well. Add in The Last Unicorn too because it has a similar vibe as the rest of them.

Oh! Black Swan is fucking awesome too so watch that! It starts pretty normal and then slowly gets freakier and freakier. Same with Oculus, though people have mixed feelings with that one. The Ward is a movie that scared the ever-living shit out of 14 year old me. I don't know if it still holds up, but you can give it a go.

Train to Busan is pretty okay if you like zombie stuff. Warm Bodies isn't horror but it's also a zombie movie and one of my all-time faves. Fido I don't think is "horror" but I like that one too.

Okay, this is WAY too long so I'm stopping here, but if anyone else wants mun's opinions on horror movies, please ask.

GoodMorning! Looks like it might be in the high 60’s by this afternoon. I think it’s gonna be a good day! In fact, it is “Good Friday”! And that brings me joy because “Sunday is a comin’!”

I’ve been thinking about joy all week. That’s one reason I write this blog: to keep me focused on finding joy instead of getting bogged down in whatever the world sends me. Basketball, baseball, new recipe, prom, a day trip with a friend, finishing a great book, and now it’s Easter weekend. It’s just been a fun week.

Here’s a joyful basketball story for you, and it’s not even really about basketball! Yale’s basketball team made it to the first round of the NCAA tournament in Spokane, Washington, but their band couldn’t make the trip. The University of Idaho heard that and decided to do something about it. Their band all bought Yale t-shirts, they learned the Yale fight song, and they took a bus to the game to play for the Yale team. How awesome is that? Yale won that game, and Connecticut declared a special day to honor the Idaho band.

If you are getting tired of basketball, you can now turn to baseball! Yesterday was opening day for the White Sox. Jan came home early to watch the game. They did not win, but Ozzie says the pitching looked good, and we didn’t get clobbered. Could be a long season, but there was some joy in the ballpark and here in our house about what might come this season.

Besides baseball season, it is prom season. The grandson went to his first prom with a group of friends. He looked so good in his tux! Did you go to your prom? It sure has changed in 55 years! I still have my elbow length white gloves that I wore with my prom dress. Jan did not rent a tux. The guys just wore nice, maybe even new suits. Then we had after-prom in the high school. We might have gone a few places that we weren’t supposed to be during the evening. Maybe not…maybe…not admitting anything.

The proms I chaperoned in the 90’s added a fancy meal, wine glass, key chain, and picture frame favors, much fancier dresses and tuxes for the boys. I do remember some boys wearing the tuxedo jacket, shirt, and tie with a pair of shorts, but most looked a little fancier! And after-prom was maybe a trip to 6 flags or something at the YMCA or college planned by the parents. I could tell you lots of stories, some good, some joyful, some maybe not so good, but it is certainly a rite of passage that still takes place.

About the new recipe? Yes, I tried baking again. I was cold on a cloudy day. That meant the oven needed to be on. Texas Sheet Cake cookies. Google it. They are soooo easy, made from a cake mix, eggs and oil, then easy frosting. I accomplished it! JOY!!! We ate about a dozen in two days, way too much sugar, but so good. After eating three I was definitely on a sugar high. I put half in the freezer to keep us from eating them. Want to know how long the cookies lasted in the freezer? Like four days. Definitely going to make these again.

Oh my friends, I wish you joy this Easter weekend and every weekend. I believe that Jesus died for you and me, then rose again on the third day (Sunday!). I could probably sing Easter songs all day Sunday and not repeat. Favorite old hymns, I serve a risen Saviour…Up from the grave He arose… Gaither Trio, Because He lives… Contemporary praise, Come out of that Grave…Raise a Hallelujah…” What’s your favorite? I can’t choose. I love them all, maybe more than Christmas carols, well, at least as much. Joy to you all as we celebrate Jesus. Joy to the fishes in the deep blue sea. Joy to you and me.

life update!!!

Soooo it's the second week of uni. So far, so good. I definitely feel like the general workload of this semester has eased up SO MUCH. I'm actually so surprised bc so many engineering guys have scared me saying it only gets worse, that I will hate 2nd year, that electrical is the hardest, and tbh, my workload is already eased up so much compared to last semester. I not only have ZERO prelecs (last sem I had 2 classes with weekly prelecs), but I also have like around half the amount of lectures than last semester. On top of that, only three of my four classes have weekly quizzes (last semester 4 of my 5 classes had weekly quizzes AND THERE WAS ONE WEEKLY QUIZ THAT TOOK A WHOLE DAY TO DO I HATED IT).

Anyways, so I'm off to a good start.

I will say digital logic, circuit analysis, and physics has been pretty good. Not too difficult yet. However, algorithms has been a lot already. I am forseeing that I will probably spend a lot more time on algorithms than anything else. I have also been warned about the circuit analysis class, so I suspect it will get much harder later in the semester. Physics has been my favourite class so far, which is good bc I will have to do 2 more physics classes for my degree.

My research internship ends this week. I already have my final presentation mostly done, just need to tweak some aspects of it, but other than that I am fully ready to present. In the next two days I am planning to finalise my report (which I already have mostly done anyways), so I will probably have to spend most of my time on that until friday. Ngl I spent last week procrastinating A LOT, so I will have to make up for that mistake this week. I have also applied to two societies: a rocketry one and a motorsports one. These two I have been planning to apply to for ages, as they're basically work experience that I can put on my resume and they supply a HUGE amount of work hours (I need like 700 or smth to graduate), so hopefully I get in. I am a bit scared in applying though, because I've heard it is quite intensive and I am already working a part-time job already. We'll see. I'm sure I can leave anytime if it ever gets too much.

Because of my procrastination, theres already a lot to do:

watch + write notes for physics lectures

go over physics tutorial sheets

prepare for the physics labs

complete the physics weekly quiz

complete the algorithms weekly quiz

go over digital logic content and labs

go over circuit analysis tutorial (and prepare for lab)

complete motorsports activities

go over algorithms content

finish research report

anyways, in terms of more personal updates:

Finished netflix's ATLA!!! Tbh it wasn't incredible in a way I was hoping for, but it also wasn't dogshit, and I think everyone can agree it was better than the movie. I'd give it a solid 7/10. If they made a second season, I would definitely watch it.

I've also been going out a LOT more. I spent last weekend doing escape rooms and mini-golf and fun little activities. It feels really good to actually go out again, and I definitely want to do it more, especially before the sem gets hectic.

And finally, there's really a lot to look forward to. The first two episodes of Shogun has come out, and I am really looking forward to watching them. I've read approximately the first 100 pages of the book, so I am curious to how they'll adapt it. Also, FF7 Rebirth is coming out tomorrow!!! How exciting!! I probably won't be able to play it, but I might be able to watch someone else gameplay. I have played FF7 Crisis Core and a little bit of FF7 the remake and the original, so I should probably try and finish FF7 itself before the sequel hehe.
