storm: I always have multiple wips going on and I'm kinda writing a lot of mcr right now (sorry i still feel like i'm cheating on peterick lmfao) BUUUT here is a peterick wip I just added some words to! I can't believe this ask game is making me just put unedited words out there but here ya go

There was a moment when Patrick wondered if time and distance had made strangers of him and Pete. The truth is more complicated. Reading Pete’s lyrics now, it still feels uncomfortably like looking into his soul. It still resonates in a way that he can only explain through music, but it’s like there’s something missing, almost. And then it hits him: whatever these words are about, Patrick wasn’t there for it. And for some reason, that makes him angry at himself.

sprout: hey i actually just started working on a peterick fic! it is, essentially, a place for me to dump my 2ourdust feelings. here's some new words i just wrote:

Just like that, Patrick’s caught in Pete’s pull again. This whole tour has been an exercise in meeting Pete’s whims—it was his idea, after all, for Patrick to have his own little section of the setlist. It was his idea to stop and talk to one another while the piano gets set up, to take a moment to just crack a dumb joke, or talk about the weather, or, sometimes, check in and reassure each other that they’re still here, after everything. Maybe Pete’s been pulling him, bit by bit, to stand in the light together.

storm: I greatly appreciate all comments, but I admit I extra love comments that go all unhinged capslock scream-y, and also any comments that talk about my writing itself and not just the content of the story (e.g., complimenting my writing style 🥺)

sprout: all comments are wonderful ofc 💗 i'm especially touched when people point out specific lines or moments in the fic, particularly ones that i didn't expect anyone to notice!

Tagged by @kaiasky here to post five songs I actually listen to (which, I agree, is a very funny challenge name). I don't really have anyone I can tag, so I'm happy for (and encourage) anyone to continue the chain :)

MCR - This Is How I Disappear - I love this song; it's dramatic, dark and moody while having extremely addictive instrumentation (I'm still shook every time I hear the tambourine come in). I also find the lyrics really interesting. The whole Black Parade album is about a cancer patient coming to terms with their death and this song particularly focuses on the idea of being forgotten eventually, which is so ouch, but wonderfully cathartic. Alternatively, without that context, it's like the most dramatic breakup song you've ever heard lol.

TK from Ling Tosite Sigure - First Death - So, the best way I can describe this song is it makes me feel a very similar kind of way to 'This Is How I Disappear' haha. Of course, this song is a Chainsaw Man ED and the lyrics are pretty specifically tailored to the preceding events in the anime (which I won't spoil here, but they seem to reflect the inner thinkings of a certain character during a certain event). It's energetic and cathartic, with falsetto tones that remind me of ghosts which is so unique.

Takuto - All Categorise - This is ED for Young Black Jack and previously my alarm for several years. Why? Because I think it's a pretty uplifting and cute song, really gets me energised! The lyrics fit well with Black Jack as a character in the series: he's fairly idealistic, but the world is pretty strongly against him. That said, ultimately, he's pretty dead-set on becoming a doctor to help people. The lyrics of the songs itself, as far as I can tell, seem to be about trying to see the bright side of things and appreciate the beauty in life, even where it's hard to find.

Rie Fu - Life is Like a Boat - AKA my current alarm... I feel like I don't need to elaborate much with Rukia in my pfp here, but I just think this is a beautiful song and so nostalgic for me. It was probably also the first song I heard that combines English and Japanese verses, which I think it super unique. I don't have too much to say about the lyrics, but they certainly tug at the heartstrings... Idk, I just love it, it makes me want to start rhythmically waving my lighter in the air (a terrible idea for someone just waking up lmfao).

Ghost - Square Hammer - My friend really fucking loves Ghost and I absolutely do get it, their songs scratch a specific kind of itch. I kind of feel like this is how people in the 80's must have felt listening to 80's music drop (if that makes any kind of sense :')). Anyway, this is one of their songs that's made its way into my playlists because I just find it so easy to listen to (this is a good thing). I also like how, from an engineering perspective, the lyrics are absolutely asking the correct questions (sorry 😂).

5: A song that needs to be played LOUD mcr's boy division! i absolutely love this song and it is best enjoyed at like 80% volume (i have my max volume on my pc and phone set to where it won't completely obliterate my ears, do not worry)

19: A song that makes you think about life flowers on the grave by the maine. this song has been especially important to me over the past two years. "everything is temporary, even the sorrow that you carry" and "flowers on the grave, of the child that i used to be" are my two favorite lyrics, though the whole song destroys my heart lmfao

20: A song that has many meanings to you good GOD this is hard to pick. i have at least 1200 songs saved to my spotify and like a bunch of cds and each and every song means multiple things to me 😭. so i'll just go with one of my favorite songs: the blower's daughter by damien rice. to me, it's a song about love, its about hate, its about loss, its about grief, its about a broken thing that can't be fixed even though you are desperately trying to fix it. it's very similar in theme to the rest of "o" as an album. i've loved this song since 2015 but naturally after reading gtn it gives me blorbo thoughts too (sorry for the permanent griddlehark brainrot, it won't get better). the entirety of "o" gives me griddlehark brainrot, now that i think about it 😭

the guy has a really good voice for folk punk even though that isn't exactly what genre it is and i like that it's a chill song. the lyrics also caught my ear, would listen again.

sometimes i think i’ll die alone, live and breathe and die alone // cubicles (actually all of cubicles, i love that song with all my heart)

i also love the whole ‘someone get me to a doctor...’ verse from vampires and the last verse from drowning lessons

5. Favorite lyric off Three Cheers For Sweet Revenge?

and in the end we’ll fall apart, just like the leaves change in colour // fashion statement (the only line that really sticks out for me in revenge, altho i love i never told you and hang ‘em high too)

7. Favorite lyric from The Black Parade album?

this is too difficult bc i find it hard to pick my favourite line on some songs let alone the whole album so ur gonna have more than one answer, sorry!

mostly i've been sprawled on these cathedral steps while spitting out the blood and screaming ‘someone save us’ // heaven help us (it counts ok! and honestly looking back through all tbp’s lyrics these stand out to me the most, it’s one hell of an incredible song imo)

also:

don’t you breathe for me, undeserving of your sympathy and three cheers for tyranny, unapologetic apathy and the whole ‘wake up’ part // sleep (probably my overall favourite mcr song)

drop the dagger and lather the blood on your hands, romeo // the sharpest lives

the whole ‘do or die...’ chant from welcome to the black parade, specifically ‘i’m just a man, i’m not a hero’

I've already made a post about this guy but I'm doing it again wassup i love him

there's an artist called nothing,nowhere, and really, his music was an unbelievable help when I was going through the worst of my depression. his entire discography is very much themed around depression and loneliness, and it felt like such a goddamn relief to hear exactly how I was feeling put into song. it was cathartic and validating in a way nothing else was

seriously, arguably his most popular song and the one I heard first is called "i'm sorry, i'm trying". I heard it when I was still really ill and in therapy, and the first few lines punched me right in the soul. another one of my favourites is called "bedhead" and the line "i don't expect you to expect anything of me" always gets me teary

he's very emo-influenced in his vocal style but his music is beautiful imo, all resonant acoustic guitar and deep, clear, well-produced beats, so he's able to convey just how much HURT is in all his lyrics. in the song "neither here, nor there" there's a line that, when written down looks like your regular grade angst, but when he sings "i'm so sick of waking up with a hole in my heart, it's not fair", the crack in his voice, if you've ever had depression, you know precisely what he's talking about lmao

there are only a handful of bands whose music I can listen to repeatedly, months and years after I first discover them. there are even fewer where I love literally every single song they've made, and he's one of them. at high school, when everyone else was going through their mcr phase and I would hear stuff about music saving someone's life I would roll my eyes, but now i think i get it. i wouldn't say n,n saved my life, but he sure as fuck helped

Nujabes - Spiritual State ft. Uyama Hirotoas Sai’s theme (original post) : I like the music a lot, it’s indeed peaceful and relaxing, it’s full of emotions though and I can imagine Sai just painting landscapes with this music, it really suits him as an adult.

Chance The Rapper - Smoke Break as ShikaIno’s theme (original post) : I also enjoy the music a lot, I might listen to it later lmao anyway I can’t really tell if it suits their relationship because the song is rather angsty, it’s not really positive lmao but at least it suits the fanart !

will.i.am - Boys & Girls as Haku’s party theme (original post) : I like the music but I’m sorry honey I don’t think it suits Haku, simply because I don’t see him being the party type of guy ! I don’t why it makes me think about Hidan lmao but it would have suited someone more ‘fun’ maybe !

Iron Maiden - Rainmaker as Pain’s theme (original post) : Alright seriously wasn’t it written especially for him though ???? It suits him too well in my opinion, the rain of amegakure, the pain, the tears, the truth, the angels, 1000000% Pain’s theme song.

Radiohead - Karma Police as Hidan’s theme (original post) : The song has a rather calm and peaceful melody, which really doesn’t suit Hidan but I can imagine him with this theme songs thanks to the lyrics. Like, at the beginning I can imagine him killing people because of pointless thing but he has to do it again and again “I’ve given all I can but we’re still on the payroll” and “This is what you get, when you mess with us” really reminds me of him.

Alphabetics - Late To Work as Kakashi’s theme in the first season (original post) : I also think it suits him a lot as the first thing we know about him is that he’s always late lmao so indeed this song reminds me of that Kakashi, also the fact that he is “late to work” because he is “so depressed” makes sense because indeed he’s late because he goes to his friend’s grave and it reminds him so much bad and sad memories.

Panic! At The Disco - Nine In The Afternoonas Team Seven’s theme (original post) : I totally think it suits Team Seven, “Back to the street where we began,feeling as good as lovers can, you know, yeah we’re feeling so good”, “Back to the street, back to the place, back to the room where it all began” I can see it being their theme song just after the war, when all of them are reunited and everything is over, it makes me emotional though lmao

Metallica - Master of Puppets as Kankuro/Sasori’s battle theme (original post) : Of course this song is their theme song like only the title is dedicated to them lmao though I think it suits Sasori more because Kankuro isn’t as harsh and violent as Sasori, even in battle and Sasori is more sadistic than Kankuro, that’s why I think the song suits him more because it’s really full of violence lmao

Metallica - The Call of Ktulu as Sasuke vs Itachi’s battle theme (original post) : So there aren’t any lyrics so I can’t react to them but the song is indeed interesting as their battle theme song, it starts a bit slow before getting fast, we can also feel the tension at the beginning, exactly like in the scene before the battle

Paul McCartney - No More Lonely Nights as Hinata’s theme for her wedding day (original post) : The “I can’t wait another day” reminds me sooooo much of Hinata because like she’s been ‘in love’ for her whole life ?? as well as the “Day or night I’m always there” and the “No, I’ll never go away“. I totally can see it being her theme song because the whole song is really suiting her character.

Chaos Chaos - Do You Feel It? as Sakura’s theme when she saw Sasuke leaving (original post) : I totally agree with your choice, as she loves Sasuke, seeing him leave was hard for her and I’m sure she would have begged him to stay. The “Somedays I’m build of metal, I can’t be broken but not when I’m with you” really suits her as she is a strong woman but with Sasuke she isn’t as strong as she is. I just want to add that I don’t like SS but your choice is really great with this one and I love the music.

My Chemical Romance - Sleep as Angry kid Sasuke’s theme (original post) : Aaaah ! MCR for a young angry emo kid lmfao jk though it suits him really well as the post-massacre Sasuke. “A drink for the horror that I’m in “, “The hardest part’s the awful things that I’ve seen“, “ Sometimes I see flames. And sometimes I see people that I love dying and…” are a few lyrics that reminds me of him so much.

Anyway, congrats for your playlist ! It’s so great and particulary suiting their characters ! And you made me discover new cool musics, thank you sweetheart ! ♥ I won’t forget to check out your blog from time to time if you make other playlists !
