making Spike a misogynist was such a cringe fail move. it doesnt even make sense considering he fought Perry back in season 2. him respecting women could've been a neat little character trait! not wanting to fight people weaker than him (which he already seems hesitant to do--prior to Spike vs Spikette, the only people we had seen him fight were Adam & Perry, both of whom could definitely handle it) would've given him DEPTH. MORALS. LORE. him being chivalrous & traditional could've been soooo funny. he'll rip a man's spine out but he's waiting until marriage. he helps old ladies cross the street & if you say anything about it he'll turn your insides into outsides. but noooo let's just make him a misogynist 🙄

I love that Chase hadn't grasped that Douglas was alluding to him having to turn into Spike when talking about him having to get really aggressive and physical in order to take down Spikette. He was fully psyching himself up by growling, clenching his teeth, and hitting the table before being informed Douglas was actually talking about Spike

i definitely read this somewhere a year ago and im regurgitating it but 

i absolutely HATE the way that spike slowly becomes a chill dude, albeit slightly unhinged, but stands up for his friends and is chill around women to a raging misogynistic asshole by the fourth season. we get four spike appearances and they literally just show the decline in his alter ego throughout the whole show. first season, spike literally puts together a football team (and counts bree in as an equal which he would NEVER do by the fourth season since women are so delicate omg). and they work as a team! he’s not trying to impress anyone and is just kinda vibing. season two things go downhill slightly but not by much. he really only fights perry and tries to make a few unsuspecting students eat it. again, he’s regarding perry as his equal (even though the show may say she doesn’t count because she’s not what most people would consider a women). third season really ruins the whole character and gimmick. like it’s already devastating enough that chase is stressed out enough on his date with sabrina for spike to pop out and then spike’s actions just make it ten times worse. like he’s never shown any inclination of needing to “woo” the lady or stupid gender norms in general. like it’s actually so disgusting watching him “flirt” with over the top pet names and trying to impress her by beating up adam. his motivation is to take care of the threat which is infringing on him (in this case, adam) NOT complete the side mission of ogling women. fourth season is the absolute worst spike episode, and not just because i literally stopped watching the show for 5 years solely because of it LMAO. here, spike is a full blown misogynist and there’s no beating around the bush anymore. like after being set on kate or spikette to turn her back, he merely starts flirting with her and then proclaims that he doesn’t fight girls. AND THEN when spikette and bree or now spikerella are ready to duel, he’s like “this should be good. everyone knows girls can’t fight.” and it’s meant to be this offhand remark that eventually gets shot down at the end, but the way they went through with it pisses me off so much. AND EVEN CHASE AT THE END IS LIKE “I guess girls can fight, who knew?” LIKE DOES HE STILL HAVE A TRACE OF SPIKE IN HIM OR????? he would literally never say that???? so yeah, that is how the evolution of spike has gone from chaotic to pure sexism throughout the span of lab rats.

Janelle & Gus: Ah, odd. Janelle would probably react like how Jordan reacts to Gus, but in a less angry or violent way. Janelle doesnt have the same hatred for Gus as Jordan does. Shes probably like. a little miffed around him, but she can tolerate him for a little while.

Kate & Tasha: Hm. Kate is def a little nervous around her at first (pre-spikette episode), but after that, whenever Tasha is around the island, Kate sometimes seeks her out to talk and hang out. Kate thinks shes really cool and nice (and like the mother she does not know or even can conceptualize)

Hapax & The Crusher: hmmmmm kinda similar to how i see solar n hapax, but he kinda just roasts crushers wife. hapax is everyones grandpa and it freaks them all out becuase. he is literally just Alan

Logan & Daniel: HJFHJ omg . two golden retriever boys. logan gets really excited to formally meet daniel and daniel is very excited to meet logan because hes so cheery. daniel and logan make flower crowns together (real)

Solar-Flare & Gamma Girl: WOOOOO my favourite fanon wives . warm hands and even warmer hands couple. solar eats the burger toppings gamma girl doesnt like. solar picks up cats and shows them to gamma who claps happily in response.

Jordan & Bree: jordan meets bree for the first time and goes “fuck theres another connie” que bree being confused as hell. bree doesnt really like g&g and jordan than gets irrationally upset even though she wouldve hated bree playing anyway

Megahertz & Spike: ooooooo oh this would be hilarious. megahertz is yelling loud as shit and spike yells back louder, to  assert dominance. spike attempts to pick up megahertz and throw him and megahertz shocks him

Giselle & Perry: i Cannot think of something for them, all i know is that it would be funny.

Alan & Spin: i think spin would just. run around alan and make him trip over himself to be funny. alan tries to trip him over but fails . cringefail losers

Kate & Adam: i think?? theyve spoken in her episode. but its been a while since i watched it. but i think post-spikette, adam does his lifting or whatever and kate joins him for funsies. she doesnt lift as much as adam but they trade tips and exercises

Logan & Skylar: aww hold on. wait i like this. i think, due to both of their limited knowledge of the Human World, logan and skylar bond over their lack of knowledge about social norms and do Human Stuff together :]]

Notes & Ramblings:

This is a neighbors to lovers get together fic, with a really enjoyable progression from curious neighbors to friends to lovers; each stage of their relationship feels quite unique and captivating.

Isak and Eva as friends and roommates is so much fun, with silly shenanigans and lots of snarky comments that are obviously full of love.

Eva and Vilde’s relationship seen from Isak’s perspective is sweet, warm and realistic, even filtered through the lens of his fond exasperation.

I really liked the development of Isak’s friendship with Vilde; the dynamic and progression felt fitting and realistic for these two.

The banter between Isak and Even is brilliant, very quirky and incredibly realistic-feeling. There’s even smut banter, which fits their relationship so well and give the sex a light, fun feeling. There are so many wonderful, funny lines that had me actually laughing out loud.

Isak’s characterization is so nicely done, complete with crushing, pining, awkwardness and attention to small details.

This story has an older Isak who has a better relationship with mental illness and it was really heartwarming to see him interact with Even about his MI in a very calm and accepting way.

Isak’s friendships are given plenty of importance in this story, even as the focus is on his relationship with Even, which gives a well-rounded supporting cast.

Favorite Lines:

“You really like him, don’t you?” she asks. “You want to go on dates and call him your boyfriend and-” she gasps, clutching a hand to her heart, “you want to have pet names.”

“Could you please leave me the fuck alone?”

“As a married woman-”

“You aren’t married.”

“As a mostly married woman, I want you to know that I support your partnership, and wish you many lazy, half-assed blowjobs during Netflix marathons.”
