everybody is jewish. pike's tefillin look so fucking hot on him. also he's a cantor. ortegas has a kippah for each parsha, but still uses a tallit provided by the shul and has a ladino accent when she speaks hebrew bc she grew up speaking it with her family (she also knows judeo-arabic and can trace her ancestry back to al-andalus). instead of the standard traditional tichel ties, uhura uses kenyan ties and patterns. una uses one of those lace thingies and bobby pins it to her hair. la'an doesn't cover her hair (though she plans to start if she ever gets married) but does have her hair up nice. chapel usually uses a nice headband. m'benga wears thawbs and prefers a sudra over a kippah. spock wears a tallis katan under his uniform and prefers to keep tznius, both for comfort reasons and also for tradition

so i'm writing a human spirk au fic and i'm wondering

should i keep spock's full name as s'chn t'gai spock? or should i use spock cha'sarek instead?

either name doesn't sound too "human" but unfortunately, there's no alternative (unless i want to call him harold grayson in which lol yes BUT i feel people would be confused and/or forget what they're reading if i call him harold)

i feel like spock cha'sarek looks and sounds better between the two but i dunno loud fart noises

(i have another human au i'm writing where spock is a nickname given to him, similar to bones for mccoy, but that doesn't work for this au. but speaking of that au i need to get my ass in gear and work on it because you'll pry mixed ashkenazim/japanese spock from my cold dead hands)

i think i'm just overthinking it because it's a dumb video game au but alas

i do truly think a lot of the hatred felt towards the final frontier is rooted in people not knowing shatner is jewish. it's not a christian story about star trek characters finding jesus. it's a jewish story about star trek characters meeting gd gdself and still not being satisfied, still asking questions, still challenging, and then coming to a conclusion that actually it doesn't matter one way or the other if there definitively is or isn't a gd, bc their community and their relationships with each other are way more important than that

i'm still emotional about all of spock's life trajectory basically being that of a pendulum wildly seeking equilibrium in a confusing world

he swings back and forth from emulating extreme logic to poorly hide his emotional instability as a kid to embracing emotion and even cracking jokes and laughing to once again valuing logic (but this time he lets himself still fuck with people and maybe his eyes show a fuck ton a glimpse of emotion if you know how to look for it) and then finally in the movies learning that emotion and logic are not conflicting forces and he embodies both and coaches others to do the same and just AUGH

i feel like in tos it's spirk -> mcspirk and in aos it's mckirk -> mcspirk. in tos spirk don't really get together until after tmp, and bones only comes along for the ride after sfs. meanwhile in aos mckirk get together during the academy and spock probably joins sometime after stid and that's only bc bones finally learned that spock was trustworthy while jim was in the hospital. am i making sense

pike showing up to captain discovery and replace lorca, who betrayed and traumatized them, and he shows them love and helps them learn to trust others again but more importantly to trust themselves 🤝 pike being spock's captain and becoming like a father to him, replacing sarek and showing him that logic is not the only answer and showing him how to love himself and others

homie i've been cultivating my pleas for the fandom to stop fucking goywashing these characters to make them as palatable as possible to the goyische eye for literal years, and they continue to be ignored and pushed to the side. i'm TIRED. i'm tired of people ignoring the very jewish origins of these characters and their actors. i'm tired of it being a microcosm of the goywashing that i experience in my everyday life personally every fucking day. it doesn't matter if it's intentionally antisemitic or not, it's still fucking antisemitic either way
