This mural by Shark Toof was created for the 2015 edition of the SHINE Mural Festival in St. Pete, Florida.
About the mural from the St. Petersburg Arts Alliance website–
The artist hails from Los Angeles and is known around the world for his iconic shark illustrations. Although the shark’s reputation is fearsome, Shark Toof uses the image of a shark to give strength, optimism and possibility to the viewer. He sees the shark as a voice of rebellion, and a conduit for the unheard. At the artist’s request, the wall was painted red before he got to St. Pete. Even so, the mural took four days and almost one hundred cans of aerosol paint – and it was a challenge because of wires and the architectural details of the wall. When the painting was done, the artist stepped into the doorway on the bottom right, closed the iron grate and said, “See? Now I’m in a shark cage!”

Tumblr media
Marcus is a self-proclaimed "lover not a fighter". He's known to be very friendly and approachable, with a significant portion of the Formula 2 grid mentioning that he was the driver they got on with best in the paddock during his time there. His results in F2 were mixed, moving teams in 3 successive years, as he sometimes had difficulty getting to grips with the F2 car and tyres, however it’s generally agreed that his midfield championship positions during his F2 tenure aren’t an accurate reflection of his genuine ability and talent. Multiple Ganassi team members (including the boss) have commented on how impressed they are by his raw speed, work ethic, and attitude since his arrival in IndyCar. Marcus himself has already talked about how much more enjoyable the Indy car is to drive and how much fun he’s having now after several years of struggling with the notoriously difficult F2 car. He also appears to be getting on well with his CGR teammates and in particular has talked about how much he likes Marcus Ericsson.
He moved to London in early 2022 after spending several years living near Ferrari’s HQ in Maranello, Italy, and is known to enjoy city nightlife, being a big fan of wine. He’s a major foodie who likes taking photos of good food almost as much as he enjoys complaining about bad food. He is known to be determined to the point of stubbornness, causing himself permanent damage to his knee during a half-marathon due to refusing to stop when he was in pain. He had a low attendance record at school due to focusing on his racing career and moving to Europe at the age of 14, and as such, although he’s not unintelligent he’s known to be somewhat lacking in general knowledge (such as thinking Shakespeare’s first name was Michael). However, he has the characteristically Kiwi dry, sarcastic sense of humor and very much enjoys mutual teasing and banter with his close friends, something that’s often on display in the Screaming Meals podcasts.
Tumblr media
Fanfic Lore
Usually paired with Callum Ilott, or F2 driver Clement Novalak due to their extremely close and physically affectionate friendship - was Clem’s teammate during their karting days, and has said that they talk every day while he’s in the US Likes to tease Callum and wind him up to his face, but often calls him his best mate and praises him when he’s not around. However Callum rarely (if ever) reciprocates the latter, probably due to his intense Britishness Good friends with multiple drivers from various series, including Juan Manuel Correa, Jüri Vips, Guanyu Zhou, Nick Cassidy, Max Fewtrell and Felipe Drugovich Also has a tendency to “adopt” younger drivers and refer to them as “little bro”, including Jak Crawford and Dino Beganovic Has said on several occasions that he doesn’t wear underwear, and also shaves his legs (and possibly elsewhere, having claimed that he is “hairless from the eyebrows down”) Claims he can’t tell the difference between someone being nice to him and someone flirting with him

The detail is in the missing arm and missing face. Are you getting dressed up for Halloween this year? Tonight, tomorrow, or Monday? I'm all focused on a fun time tomorrow with a dark art pop-up show in our Historic Kenwood neighborhood tent on the massive 22-block Halloween block party on Central Avenue in St. Pete... and then the roaming and after party with friends. Pop-up show will be in front of VFW at 26th Street. This photo will be one of several larger prints I'll have on display tomorrow. It's one of my favorites from my old stomping ground Green-Wood Cemetery in Brooklyn. I wonder if St. Pete has cemeteries worth exploring... #greenwoodcemetery #angel #cemeteryshots #brooklyn #homesick #historickenwood #aehkstpete #halloween #happyhalloween #halloweenoncentral #stpetefl (at Green-Wood Cemetery) https://www.instagram.com/p/CkUCyDBP9wi/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Did you know that living in Fort Wayne, IN is not the desolate, bleak hellscape that every coastal resident would have you believe?
we have things such as:
- reasonable cost of living
- low mortgage payments/rates
- seasons!
- queer communities
- queer pride gatherings!
- vast expanses of nature to explore like grasslands, wetlands, forests, dunes and lakes
- unique food culture!
- fair/well paying jobs!
- maker spaces for things like welding, blacksmithing, ceramics, sewing and more!
- great spots for live shows/music!
I have lived in Indiana since early 2018 and I'm coming up on my fifth year of living here. I love it here. It feels like home to me. I have a very comfortable life, a great job, and I'm only about 3.5- hours in any direction to chicago, indianapolis, bloomington, toledo, detroit and more. Roach and I own a home, a goal that I never in my wildest dreams thought that I'd be able to attain at any age. We bought it for $75,000.00 and since buying it in February of 2021, it has appreciated in value to nearly $100,000.00. It's a comfortable three bed one bath with a huge basement, great natural light, wonderfully convenient location, great neighbors, and beautiful streets.
I just!!! All I want is for coastal folks to give the midwest a shot. You do not have to pay $2500 every month to live in a shoebox. Our house is 1500 sq ft and we pay $600 a month for it. You do not have to live coastally in order to succeed in the art industry. @ironcircuscomics is located in Chicago, IN THE MIDWEST, and is one of (if not the most) biggest indie comics publishers in the entire US. I work with Spike! It's possible! CAKE is in Chicago, and Fort Wayne has it's own Comic Con for pete's sake.
We have a lovely group of 10+ queer and LGBT positive friends who live within slingshot distance, we get together regularly for birthdays, holidays and other social gatherings (COVID willing), and my partner @roach-works has a great job as a welder that pretty much provides us with everything we need, if not more. We are so happy here. We have stability, equity, social/friend security, comfort, and peace.
If you need to be convinced further, please look at what kind of housing is available in our area and at what price:

This house is literally under $700 a month for FIVE BEDROOMS AND TWO BATHROOMS. It is VERY possible to make this happen. If you have ok credit and a couple of well-trusted friends who are down to pitch in and sign a mortgage for a home like this, you could easily create an artist commune in a very vibrant midwestern city. You could have quail in your back yard and you could have a good sized garden if you wanted to try your hand at urban sustainable living! There really aren't any food deserts here either.
IDK. I want to show more people what is possible if you live/move out here. It isn't desolate, I promise. It is beautiful and vibrant and alive. You could be comfortable here.
Consider this an open offer: IF THIS SOUNDS APPEALING TO YOU, please talk to me! I have a realtor I can put you in touch with. I can explain what our homebuying process looked like. I can give you insight/help. We could host you if you wanted to tour the city. I DEEPLY love this place and I hope I can get more people to love it, too.
