Feel free to join in: here are the 6 heists to get to know me, Yadoking. In no particular order:

Shacklethorne Auction I enjoy this one, and I enjoy completing it in stealth specifically. I think the setting is really cool, and the piano music drifting up to the top floor as you hunt for the blow torch/security boxes? It really creates a spooky ambience. The idea of heisting from an auction itself is also extremely cool and the tuxes/outfits for this heist are nothing to sniff at, either.

Framing Frame. Is this because I like the heist? No, I fucking hate it. Is this because I am good at this heist? No, I am fucking shit at this heist. No joke, in my career playthrough it took me HOURS to complete this heist in stealth. In fairness, this was due to my lack of a dedicated stealth build rather than a lack of skill - but it deserves a dishonourable mention on this list all the same.

Stealing Xmas A crazy Vlad heist! I really like this one. The objectives are fun and varied and essentially force you into exploring the map. And Vlad wanting to steal the fucking Christmas tree? IT'S SO COOL. I love it when Payday leans into the camp side of things. Is it absolutely ridiculous to blow the ceiling off the roof of the mall to extract the tree? Yes, yes it is. Do I care? I do not. Also, Vlad makes a pen!$ joke, which as an eight-year-old boy I find really funny.

No Mercy A crossover with one of my other most-played game series on Steam? Sign me the fuck up. Yeah, the heist was retconned a bit in Payday 2, but honestly? The thought of a bunch of greedy clowns releasing a zombie virus into the world is really funny. The stealth portion is a cool touch, though obviously not sustainable throughout the heist's duration. The claustrophobic corridors can get real busy though... with the corpses of all the cops you kill.

Birth of Sky Okay, I know not everyone will agree with me on this. But I think this heist is pretty funny as a concept. Locke's commentary is great because he is still in his 'maybe I'll be a villain teehee' era, and he's such a great contrast to Bain. Yes the snipers and that finale in the sewers is absolutely brutal (on harder difficulties), but I've had so much fun on this map.

Hoxton Breakout Call me basic if you want but again - it's FUN. Breaking your mate out of prison and rushing through the city streets to get him to safety? Fun. Driving directly into the FBI offices? Fun. Raiding the FBI offices of evidence, servers and witness testimonies? FUN! I think day 2 of this one offers great replayability as the map is decently-sized and offers really different objectives. I know some people dislike day 2 because it feels like a lot of waiting for drills/hacks/scans - but I think holding down a section of the FBI HQ as you hunt desperately for the information that will help the gang out as a whole is so much fun. I would love to know everyone else's 6 heists to get to know them! This is just a bit of fun - we all enjoy this series for different reasons, and I am sure no two lists will be exactly the same.

What is steam world you need to enlighten me

HELLO. So sorry its been a HOT SECOND. this has been my fixation for around... 3 years? So, here's an infodump under the cut

Steamworld is a game series that has been running for over 10 years! Starting with Steamworld Tower Defense in 2010, the game series has been going strong. I'll give a little explanation on the games, then each of them individually:

Steamworld: Robot game series of many different genres, I believe there Is something for everyone! Most recent game came out last year, in December of 2023. There are more games scheduled to come out! The series (chronologically, not by release) goes as the following: Steamworld Tower Defense - Steamworld Dig - Steamworld Dig 2 / Steamworld Build (happening at the same time) - Steamworld Heist - Steamworld Quest: Hand of Gilgamech [Quest is Strange. its not in the timeline really]

Now, onto the games!

Steamworld Tower Defense: (gonna be real i have it but never played it), super old tower defense game and idek if it has lore connected to it. Might be considered lost media now? It was on the DS before the shop closed.

Steamworld Dig: a mining + metroidvania game - Follow Rusty, a mining bot who arrives to Tumbleton, a very small mining town. Pick up after your Uncle Joe, explore the mines, and uncover an ancient secret.

Steamworld Dig 2: A digging + metroidvania game - Play as Dorothy McCrank, or Dot, as she explores and searches, making new friends, finding old history, and learning things as she explores the mines of El Machino.

Steamworld Build: A citybuilder game - Build a bustling town as the Earth slowly crumbles apart. Watch as Jack Clutchsprocket and his daughter Astrid work to build a rocket before time runs out. Explore the mines, build a city, and keep everybody happy.

Steamworld Heist: A turn based RPG strategy shooter game - Play as Piper Faraday and her crew of rag-tag bots as they not only explore space, but do a bit of pirate work. Get your hands dirty, explore, and make sure to collect that loot. (recommend playing with the outsider. Adds a new character who is fantastic)

Steamworld Quest: A deckbuilding RPG game - Start out with two, but grow your party of heroes as you explore the world, starting in your small quaint town. Meet others, uncover deep secrets, and be told a wonderful story with characters you will grow attached to.

"The 2022 High Noon skins"

(remember: shorts are opinionated hot takes delivered quickly, not vehicles for nuance)

Part 1: A new crop of High Noon skins just dropped, and beyond being yet another reminder how desperately the old High Noon skins need visual updates, what do they have to offer?

Well it's all structured as a big train heist, with a group of champions trying to rob Mordekaiser's infernal Sulfur Rail train, which ferries his victims and the riches he steals and swindles out of people through the gates of hell.

So far we have Mordekaiser, Varus, Talon, Katarina and Leona for revealed skins, with Leona's voice lines revealing that Twitch, Sion, Viktor, Tahm Kench and Samira will be getting a second round of skins as well.

Underneath the train heist, there's an old prophecy about five legendary "Harbingers" - who as far as I can tell are Leona, Varus, Tahm Kench, Katarina and Viktor - who will strike down Mordekaiser and in so doing will possibly, although not for certain, end the world. So the stakes are high on the train heist, and you know what, if you're gonna have a demon infested heaven-and-hell old west, dripping in southern gothic, western myths and delicious edgelord nonsense, a train heist that heralds the End of Days is exactly the kind of tone you should strike with it.

But what about the skins themselves? Well, subscribe for part two.

Starting off, we have Varus as a dead angel who was nearly content to let Mordekaiser's Sulfur Rail take him to hell, but who is spurred by... something to take up his bow again and join the train heist. As a skin, he's got sort of a Lone Ranger thing going on visually with the mask, but I just don't feel like there's that much THERE beyond "cowboy with a bow," and I feel like the angels are badly underexplored in the High Noon universe.

In the splash we see him battling Talon who... well, Talon's model being Talon's model he doesn't look great in game, but he did get a KILLER short story setting up his narrative called The Stranger On The Road which you should read (or subscribe to my main channel where I will be doing a read-through of it). He's a Devil who has been infected with Angel blood and as a result has grown a conscience that pains him terribly. It's classic half-angel, half-devil edgelord nonsense, which High Noon has maybe a bit too much of already, and again I feel like the design really doesn't do anything interesting with the cowboy aesthetic, he's more or less dressed like Varus, and, like, people did dress more than one way in the old west, y'know, Riot.

And here's Katarina, with her daggers which are also guns. Or at least they have gun chambers on them, which... okay, I mean, High Noon has sillier concepts.

She's out for revenge - her people were swindled, Mordekaiser took the spoils, and she means to collect the bounty on his head to even the score. In this regard she's similar to Leona, although it's not clear what if any dynamic the two of them are going to have with each other in the story.

Her design is pretty good - her incredible hairstyle is the showstopper here, which is probably why the rest of the outfit is relatively underplayed in brown and black, and I do like the look of that choker on her.

Which leaves us with Mordekaiser, the Mechanical Devil, the villain of our piece. He runs the train which ferries damned souls and stolen goods to Hell, and while his visual effects are amazing I don't know about the design if I'm honest. He's supposed to be the demon spirit of a ghost train and I'm really missing the presence of steam funnels, pistons, gears, wheels, y'know, all the mechanical stuff that should define him. It all seems to have been loaded on to his mace, which leaves the man himself looking to me far too much like his medieval suit of armor base form, I dunno, I'm a little let down by it.

Part 4:

Watch parts 1 through 3 if you haven't, but we left the best for last with High Noon Leona, the legendary of the bunch.

And a fair criticism of the skin is that outside of the big shield, it is hard to recognize Leona here. That's part of the general problem of League of Legends women especially having indistinct faces, which this short isn't about, and isn't really this specific skin's fault.

Looking past that, holee SHIT, I dunno about y'all but I think this one is a banger. A the thing that bugs me about High Noon is the human character designs are pretty conservative about fully exploring Old West fashion and aesthetics - it's cowboy hats and leather chaps all the way down, but Leona brings the full gothic southern belle ensemble to the party: Deadly sharp hoop petticoats, frills, laces, ribbons, embroidery, the whole nine yards, and it so much fun just to look at.

She's a woman scorned, her family was robbed by Mordekaiser, and she's leading the heist on his train to get it all back, for which purpose she has acquired... seemingly demonic powers, which manifest as the brimstone butterflies that follow her particle effects, and one of which also sits in her hair as a decorative ornament, which fucking rules.

Interestingly, though, and I do love this detail, Leona is not wearing dainty high society shoes, but big sturdy, riding boots. There's a practical nature underneath all that fashion, which isn't afraid to get its hands dirty.

It really shocks me how a lot of people haven’t heard of it before when popular Vtubers such as Filian or Project Melody use VRChat on their videos that are viewed by millions of people. This shows how underrated the game is due to some misconceptions and misunderstanding people have about VRChat.

PAYDAY 3 Review Cons: - Immediately greeted with a signup/sign-in to the Starbreeze system. - The game is having major matchmaking issues. (Has improved somewhat) - You cannot have two players the same in a group. - You are still subject to a long matchmaking time even in friends-only and invite-only lobbies. - No designated offline/solo mode. - Getting disconnected errors when playing solo or when matchmaking. - The mouse cursor stays on the screen even when using the controller. - Went in a few times set to invite only and got matched with random. - The tutorial is fine but still goes on the philosophy that you already know what you are doing. - Always online requirement. - No pause. - The guns don't feel that different. - Have had the AI cops just storming a room and then standing in the corner with their back to me. - It's all aimed at returning players and is not new player-friendly. - There is no way to mute individual players or check the audio settings when in the lobby. - Only eight heists at launch. - A lot of grinding is needed to unlock the better weapons and masks. - It is possible for Rogue random players to troll and ruin games. - Rank doesn't equal skill and instead represents time played. - When you finish a heist it just ends and kicks you back to the menu, no way to stay as a team or give feedback. Alien Isolation Developers teases new IP, Hyenas - Creative Assembly has revealed that they have been working on a new sci-fi FPS for the past four years. Creative Assembly was the team behind the critically acclaimed hit Alien Isolation. Development for the new IP began in 2018. Later in the week, Hyenas were shown off with a one-minute and thirty-second trailer. The game will be a squad-based hero shooter. Activision scrapped plans for Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3 +4 remaster - According to Tony Hawk himself, while on a live stream, admitted that it was always the plan to release Pro Skater 3 + 4, as Vicarious had been working on 3 + 4 even when 1 + 2 was released. This changed when Vicarious was absorbed into Activision Blizzard. He further continued that Activison started looking to other studios to continue development, but they ultimately did not trust any other studio the way they trusted Vicarious. Tony Hawk contained that he doesn't know if the remake would ever come, but stressed that he didn't think they would be remaking 1 + 2 20 years later, so once the dust settles, they will figure it out. Final Fantasy XVI producer speaks about new game mechanics - Naoki Yoshida, the producer for Final Fantasy XVI, has given players further information about the upcoming Final Fantasy XVI game. The protagonist will be named Clive, and you will play the game's story with time skips. You will play stories in Clive's 20s, 30s, and 40s. He further stated that each Eikon vs Eikon battle would be unique, with you controlling the Eikon sometime, but other times it might be like a 3D shooter or a pro wrestling match. Clive will also have AI party members for most of his journey. The game is set to be a complete experience at launch with no planned additional content. The game will not be an open-world game but will feature large game areas. The game is playable from start to finish but will need additional voice-over work to be completed; play testing and fine tuning difficulty are required as well as final touch-ups for the cutscenes. I played a bit of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredders Revenge. A pretty fun game that really is only a few hours long on the main difficulty, although it ramps up significantly if you go to the higher ones.
