Danny Williams: Pineapples, I hate you (I love you).
Well, I wasn't that wrong when I once called Steve a pineapple 🤭 Oh and yes, of course, Danny likes pineapples because of Steve. He likes everything in Hawaii because of (thanks to? 😁) Steve. It's Stevie's fault, all is Stevie's fault 😉

Ohmygod is a possible to hel find a fic? It's an au where danny came to the islands as a teen and joined steves group (he was "the kahuna" the group was him, Mary, changed to be a year younger, kawika, chin, kono, kamekona, Catherine and danny) well steve and danny got together and lots happened but main point is steve was forced to leave and he had no contact for what 16 or so years if I remember correctly. It was very VERY spiritual. Oh steve had a dog named Shirley and a horse named moonlight.
It sounds familiar, but I'd need to go searching. If I find it, I'll update here.

Meri, would you like to play that Tumblr game? If no - ok! 🙂 If yes, then: Mary 🙂
Sexuality Headcanon: High libido pansexual. This has a lot to do with the McGarrett family dynamic that happens. Mary is the baby and she was young when Doris "died". John being a product of that time really wasn't the best dad in a lot of ways but at least with Steve...he was a man. With Mary? Her puberty probably scared him the most and any talks if there were any probably had the opposite effect he wanted. The McGarretts are...emotionally guarded...even among themselves. They wanted to be strong for each other but that built walls even within the home. When Mary needed attention, as any child would and does, she didn't get any...unless she was acting out. How would she then get her dads and her big brother's attention? Wrong crowds and stuff and add it with the typical teenage hormones...I feel she explored that. With a variety of colorful characters. She was lonely and even if the relationships weren't strong enough to last before being sent away she searched for them because she wasn't getting the attention she wanted at home. Gender Headcanon: She/They. She grew up in a masculine dominated house hold. I think she was a tomboy that kept up with Steve and his friends well enough...and as she got older she also embraced her femininity but sometimes struggled with feeling womanly enough. In those moments they/them fits and carries her.
A ship I have with said character: Through talks and chats with @cowandcalf I see her with Kawika. It's really just based on the talks we've had. A BROTP I have with said character: Obviously I adore episodes with her and Steve. Getting an insight to their dynamic and how they rebonded after the gap and despite always being siblings becoming friends again. I do think she and Eric would have a fun friendship and they just hang out and get wasted sharing McGarrett and Williams family secrets.
A NOTP I have with said character: I really don't have one but that's really just because of how limited time we see her. A random headcanon: She sent Steve care packages while he was deployed. Maybe they didn't talk as much and he mostly went to see her physically when he needed to bail her out but I feel like they were trauma bonded enough that even if it's just a jar of Steve's favorite peanut butter or snack he'd share with her on those stressful nights as kids when their dad was out for a case and should have been home but wasn't and they were both silently worried about being orphans and he tried to cheer her up by sharing with her his favorite snack he'd been waiting to eat. Was their relationship strained? Sure, but I hate thinking of them as strangers so I like to believe he sent her post cards from every place he was deployed and she sent him care packages that reminded him he wasn't alone. General Opinion over said character: I think she's really fun. I wish we'd had more of her. Even if she couldn't be on screen, Steve mentioning any updates Mary would send him about Joanie and herself would have been so great...she did have the 'little sister' vibe amped up to 11 so as an older sibling myself could see the 'annoying' part but it's for the plot so...I wish we had a lot more of her. One of my favorite bit of McDanno fanart is Mary leaving a copy of the gay Kamasutra as a present to Steve because she's tired of him fussing about and not being with Danny already.

@sassandsnapshots Closed starter for Andy
The move to Hawai’i had been a hellish one. For a variety of reasons. It wasn’t just that he had to uproot his whole life, basically restart his career, and leave behind everyone that he’s ever known. That was bad, yes, but it was...different for him. Worse. He was a born werewolf from a long line of wolves. As far as his parents tell him, their ancestor that was bitten came from France, but moved to Italy to escape hunters. Where better to begin a wolf pack of your own then the very birth place of Romolus and Remus, after all?
Like many, wars influenced their family’s migration. He still had pack in Italy. Those too stubborn to move from what they considered their rightful territory. Once an Alpha heir was born and properly trained, he brought a handful of brothers, sisters, and cousins with him to America and settled in New Jersey.
Currently, his father held title of Alpha in Jersey. First born son, he was to be Alpha heir. To train and help and eventually take over when the time was right. But...falling in love, to a human, and having a child...that changes things.
Leaving his pack, his territory...it was painful. But nothing as painful as the thought of being separated from his only pup.
Hawai’i’s heat for a werewolf was horrible. Made him far grumpier than usual. Finding a territory where he could “claim” and have to run around while it was the full moon hadn’t been fun. His first clash with Kawika because of the case had helped even less when he had to approach him for supernatural ground to use later that wouldn’t piss off any spirits or other supernatural beings on the island.
It was through things like that, that he met Allen.
There were relatives of his, who married and mated with humans, who had children who didn’t get the werewolf genes. Grace went so long without any signs, at first he was disheartened, but after the divorce, he saw it as a blessing. When she was away from him, he didn’t have to worry about her as much...about that. Being so far away from proper pack. His Ohana helped in ways he can’t begin to be thankful for, but it was different.
But as she was getting older. Tween years were coming...and she was finally showing signs. Too many. Claws, fangs, temper, super strength. Rachel pulled her out of school after a small incident. The full moon was fast approaching, and decisions were made even faster.
He approached Allen for help. He wanted someone else with experience close by as they helped Grace through her first possible transformation. While also keeping Steve off of their trail. Being a retired SEAL, he assumed Allen had more precautions on his territory than Danny did for these kinds of things. He’ll have to have a talk, more so when Steve looks into things and realizes part of what’s going on.
It was the day before the full moon, he wasn’t exactly expecting new comers but when Andy arrived he wasn’t surprised. They’ve met when Andy helped 5-0 with a few cases they had with the Navy. This was the first time meeting in a supernatural case.
He was helping out with chores, Allen out helping Grace mentally prepare from the point of view of a bitten wolf.
“Careful if you see her. She’s...” Danny paused for for the right word, but there wasn’t really a good enough word. “It’s her first full moon. And she’s...upset. To put it lightly. Rachel...her mother, gave me full custody and,” Looking at the clock on the wall, “Should be settling in her new Vegas home with Stan by now.”

The series final is still an open wound for so many. The final episode still feels like liquid acid poured on raw flesh. I get that. I respect every opinion, meaning I just leave it be. Everyone deals with what happened in their own way to get by. There’s just one thing I don’t get over, that pokes me every time I read a new comment about the final and what they say about Steve. Yes, it has to do with Steve. And only Steve. This one is not a McDanno related emotion. It’s entirely Steve related.
Through years Steve waded through hellfire, crossed oceans that were filled with the most terrifying emotions one can endure, got stabbed in the heart countless times by so called family members and relived the hurtful experiences to realize both his parents used him, abused him and never really gave him the truth, never really loved him freely just because he was their son. Steve is demaged by fighting war, Steve is a man who tries to walk tall although his inner land is burnt.
This Steve has finally gathered the courage to take care after himself, to find enough strength to believe that he’s allowed to take the time off to travel, to leave, to go away, to heal - he has enough trust that his ohana is going to love him enough when he‘ll return home. This Steve has earned the peace he hopes to find. He has earned the right to leave without any strings attached.
And there are only so few who really understand this side of Steve. In earlier seasons, so many shouted to be heard that the show runners should take care of Steve’s PTSD. And in the end, Steve’s PTSD is an issue. The show grants Steve this time-out he deserves, finally, Steve trusts enough to know his friends won‘t hurt him, that he’s safe.
And it makes me kind of sad and angry when I realize how few get that. Instead I read how wrong Steve acts how he dares to betray his friends and his ohana. How wrong of him to leave. It kills me knowing that after years of pretending to understand Steve, all there is, is the demand that Steve should fix again something for others instead of finally getting the chance to just look after himself. Ten years is a long time, everyone changes in this time and Steve grew strong and confident. He knows he’s loved and that’s a huge step for him.
My heart hurts because I realize how few really see Steve the way I do. And even if I‘m the only one who sees him that way...I’m so happy for Steve. He has to courage to leave Hawaii to travel the world, to hope that he finds peace. A peace he truly needs and he has earned with all he’s got - Aloha, Steve. I know he returns to Hawaii. He always does.

Snippet Sunday
Writing a bit on the plane. Here’s a snippet.
Tumblr media
From: Family, Familia, ‘Ohana, Chapter 7: You Can’t Believe Everything You Hear and See, Buck POV
Fandom: 911, H50, SWAT
Pairings: Buddie, McDanno, Hondo/Deacon, other canon pairings
Warnings/tags: first draft. Buck’s attempts at understanding Hawaiian terms/language.
Tumblr media
Wake up dude, Buck thought silently at Noshimuri.
The team was tearing up the island looking for Kono but she’d vanished with only Noshimuri’s blood staining the floor of her living room.  Buck had been all over Oahu from the North Shore and Haleiwa to Kaneohe, Diamond Head and Pearl City. Danny had cracked a joke that he was getting a tour of the less desirable side of Hawaii and that was true to a certain extent.
Buck had been introduced to everyone from CIs to low level gangsters as well as the Kapu.  Kawika was an intimidating Hawaiian man and he’d taken one look at him and immediately given Steve grief for collecting another haole to which Steve had rolled his eyes and then pointedly gotten back to grilling him about Kono’s whereabouts and how he could help.
Haole.  That word that Danny hadn’t wanted to define for him. Chin had taken pity upon him and explained what it meant.  A non-native Hawaiian and usually meant in a derogatory sense. Buck had tried to protest that A) he wasn’t Hawaiian so calling him that was unfair/inaccurate and neither was Danny and B) was there any other term for a foreigner other than the equally derogatory mainlander?
He hadn’t meant to but he’d made Chin laugh so it’d been worth it.  Chin’s response was that maybe Buck should talk to Danny about reclaiming the term.  He’d also explained the name kama’aina which meant someone not of Hawaiian heritage that lived in Hawaii as well as the term kanaka which was a description for a native Hawaiian of Hawaiian heritage.
In Buck’s limited experience, Hawaiian had too many k’s, h’s the occasional w thrown in for variety and so many vowels. He was trying to keep all the new terms straight but it was a bit of a juggling act. He’d also met too many men with K names to keep track of them all at this point other than Kawika and Kamekona.
At least the big Hawaiian had been keeping them well fed.  Buck might be addicted to the man’s shrimp plate at this point.

Be Your Very Best In The Darkest Time
by CowandCalf
"Steve! Fuck, where's the damn blood coming from?" His brother searches frantically for the wound and pats down his shoulders, making him tilt his head to the side. "It's not your neck. Damn it, Steve, you're bleeding like a stuck pig. Stay with me." The urgency of the moment is a silent waver in Freddie's voice.

When Tani woke up that day, it all seemed to be just as normal. She was up first, Koa soon followed, and their dad usually never slept for too long past that either. Except, that morning he did, so Tani decided to just let him sleep in while she fixed them breakfast.
As she went to wake him up, however, nothing could prepare her for what she and Koa would go through next. She shook their dad once, gently, knowing that he was a light sleeper, but he didn’t wake. She tried again, a bit harder, again without a reaction. By that point nervous, because she knew this wasn’t normal for Kawika, Tani called out to him, again and again, fearing the worst, and the worst happened. She checked his pulse: he had none. In panic, she called for Koa, telling him to call 911 immediately while she started reanimating him, shaking all the time as tears threatened to show. She didn’t stop, didn’t want to all until the ambulance arrived and the paramedics had to pry her away from him to get to him. Tani clung to Koa as the paramedics did everything they could, asking her questions in the process which in the end had them pronounce Kawika dead.
Tani shook against Koa as they proceeded with everything they had to do, who, as Tani wasn’t even able to utter a word, called Steve and asked him to come to their house. Then he tried to get Tani out of the house, to get some air, which she fought against at first, though in the end just slumped down on the stairs on the front lanai and cried.
