Spring redressing time! We'll see how much longer everyone can fit on one shelf! Everyone's been redressed and the artificial hair gang had their hair brushed. I swear I brushed it.

And yeah I know the bottom especially is overexposed, but it's hard to get both very dark-skinned dolls and dolls with straight-up white on them properly exposed in the same shot, IME.

I swear Orchid is in the picture, she's lounging on a fireplace I thrifted! But it's behind everyone, oops.

Manga Witches: Part 3

It's time for the third post! This time, it'll focus on the unnamed witches that showed up in Suzune Magica!

All of these witches were done alongside with @honestlyboringperson!

First off is Marigold, the witch of rot! Its nature is wabi-sabi, a witch whose life was drenched in culture, it was taught that death was just as important as life was. Now as a witch, it uses the eel-like appendages on its body to cause anything it touches to rot away, this power is stronger on those still alive. It believes it's not doing any wrong, and is simply speeding up the never ending process of life and death. For ever life it takes, another beautiful rose blossoms on its corroding body.

Pagliacchi, the eye-opening witch with a miserable nature, a witch born to be a shockingly ridiculous show creature, only good for playing the fool. Her familiars make her wear stupid looking outfits and have her do painful tricks for the entertainment of all, while the witch sobs miserably in her box. She can freely leave the barrier, but refuses as she finds it preferable to be the laughing stock than to be ignored and alone. When the witch perishes the laughter of the barrier abruptly stops, with only the dying sobs of the witch remaining. (This next witch features mentions of provoking medical terms, so be wary)

Dyer, the witch of malpractice with a careless nature, this witch begged to have a loved one's life saved after a botched surgery, so they themselves become a doctor to save those unlike the ones who helped their loved one, but they never realized that they went down the path they tried to avoid until it was too late. It uses the large syringe it wields to paralyze their foes and then finishes the foes off with their knife-sharp stilettos.

Suha, the poppet witch with a hateful nature. A witch that was once a girl with nothing discernable about her, something that was constantly said to her face, leading to her eventual demise. The witch now lurks, looking for those who have wronged, and belittled her. This list grows everything, even manipulating themselves to imagine scornful memories involving people she never even met. She has to power to summon needles that it'll drive into itself, the cursed individual whoever is not affected, but the one closest to them, cursed with such bad luck it'll end with their eventual death.

The next part will focus on the unnamed witches that happened to show up in Kazumi Magica! Hope you enjoyed the characterization of these witches!

Like my father, I was born a refugee in the Jabalia camp of the Gaza Strip. When I was 10 months old my family moved to the United States. Since then, we have made frequent trips to Gaza. I remember once reaching the Tel Aviv Airport, thinking I was so close to my home in Gaza only to be sent back to Frankfurt the next morning after being detained for several hours by Israeli authorities. I was 11 years old. This was not the first or last time we were denied entry into our homeland. I remember asking my mother why we never visited Jerusalem. I always wanted to pray in the famous and sacred Masjid Al-Aqsa; I wanted to see up close the Dome of the Rock I was so used to seeing on TV and on postcards despite it being hours away from our home in Gaza. My mother explained this concisely by simply stating: “Because we are Palestinian.” [...] I am Palestinian; I am from Huj, yet I am not allowed to visit Palestine. I am not allowed to leave the 136 square mile open-air prison densely populated by 1.7 million people. On the other hand, my Jewish peers in my American high school would come back every summer boasting about their birthright trips. Most of them were born here, and their parents and grandparents were also born in the United States. Many times they were of European descent. However, none of them were actually born in Israel. Until this day I don’t understand how it is their right to visit a country which they have never been to or have never known to be home, but I, who — like so many generations before me — was born in Palestine, am not even allowed to visit my own home. How is it that other kids are getting free trips to travel across the world, yet when I was in the Jabalia refugee camp, I was not allowed to drive a few miles to visit the place where my father’s history yearns to be affirmed?
