I love Shrewpaw x Squirrelflight, I love the trope (childhood) friends to lovers, and their dynamic was so cool, I love reading about them, they were so fun together (also because they're close in age). I haven't read TNP in forever but I do remember Squirrelpaw being devastated about Shrewpaw's death. Shrewpaw was a much better choice than any other tom and was not a much older and abusive. (Ashfur, Brambleclaw, Stormfur) (not saying Storm was abusive, it was just uncomfortable to read about a full grown warrior crushing on an apprentice)

Also I recently developed strong feelings for Sunbeam x Shadowsight. One, because I hate Nightheart and we don't need another forbidden love in different clans for the thoundsanth time. Two, Shadowsight and Sunbeam can bond over Lightleap and they can get rid of the stupid "medicine cats can't have a mate and kits" rule. It's a great way to change the code more.

I personally never saw Shrewpaw as much of anything. I mean he never really has a actual character and maybe if he lived but since he never did I don’t think their much. He’s one of those characters a lot of people can make into whatever they want to be which I think is the main appeal. Way better option over any of the listed toms tho I 100% agree there (and yeah the Stormtail being possessive of her was really icky to me even as a kid. Just nasty). I don’t hate on the ship though and it’s cute! Not much more to it.

I more so love Squilf finding love on her own and not with any other Tom. I just want her to divorce Bramble and become leader lol

BUT SUNSHADOW!!!!! I love Shadowsight and Sunbeam having a relationship and finding comfort in each other. The way they are could be so good if they were ever just friends. Like I love them. Fave ASC ship so far is either SunShadow or SunLight. I just think their both really cute. For me Shadow is ace but i am so for him raising kits with Sunbeam, like they found some kittypet kittens and raise them anyway. Very cute super adorable love this one a lot!!!

I just find it funny when people get really angry about a ship having an issue but then do the exact same with another ship. Shadowsight has never expressed any desires for a mate, or has never had a canon crush. So have Mousefur and Longtail, yet everyone goes on about them and chooses to totally ignore the fact that it’s the same with Shadowsight. Hate NightSun? Ship her with Lightleap or Finchlight or even Blazefire! But don’t go on about MouseLong being AroAce erasure (which it is) but then do the exact same thing with SunShadow. It just makes zero sense.

reading wind and i'm genuinely impressed with this arc of warriors. We have some of the usual character butchering with background characters just being given random lines to say, but it feels better than usual? Even in Wind alone, I can name Shadowsight, Jayfeather, Breezepelt and Crowfeather who are more "background" characters now who've all retained their personalities. Squirrelstar I have mixed opinions on but she's mostly going strong, and Ivypool seems pretty consistent as well which is a big achievement for these books

The plot and characters are incredibly good this arc, I want to be anti Sunbeam x Nightheart on principle of finding most canon ships recently a little dull, but they've jumped to be one of my all time favourite canon pairings who work together so much better than most other couples

💋 : is there any ships out there you absolutely hate for genuinely no good reason at all. like its not problematic in the slightest, if anything it's one of the better ones, you just cannot bring yourself to enjoy it

any ship involving jayfeather or shadowsight honestly . . . in my head they will forever be aroace so whenever i see any ship art for either of them im just like . he would NOT be mates with them !! lol

as for specific ships, ive never been a fan of shadowsight and sunbeam or sunbeam and rootspring or leafpool and hawkfrost... to me with the sunbeam x shadow/root ships it just feels like people are shipping her with any tom she interacts with as a way to be like "look! this character would be a much better mate than nightheart!" and arent actually putting any thought into the ship outside of that. leafpool and hawkfrost just doesnt appeal 2 me though. im a mothpool truther <3 hehe

i could write an entire essay on nightheart's character i think. probably 8 whole paragraphs until i start repeating myself haha

the relationship between the three and squirrelflight/leafpool has always been interesting to me and god i wish it was explored more in canon... i feel like we never really get to see hollyleaf's true Road To Redemption and her coming to terms with everything and forgiving leafpool and squirrelflight until she dies. i really wish she wasnt killed off in the last hope btw that still makes me so mad grgargharhgar harghaarhgar hgarragh she could have been so cool and such a good character but rargh. rghrgrrrgh

honestly i love any dynamic between a cat and their parent bc thers so many rocky parent/kit relationships in wc and i love them all to death because i love projecting my own parental issues on to them . this also includes nightheart/sparkpelt and frostpaw/curlfeather and sunbeam/berryheart and the three/leafpool (and squirrelflight)... even rainflower/crookedstar and eventually crookedstar/silverstream, the ending of crookedstar's promise where he struggles to even spend time with silverkit after willowbreeze and minnowkit and willowkit's death is Heartbreaking, when he's still grieving and pushing away his one remaining kit who doesn't even know he's her father... gah. ghhra.a.rghgr hrg ahgr hahrhgh (positive) (i love relationships like this theyre so good)

ill be real ive never actually had friends who like warrior cats. like i knew people in 5th grade who did but we never talked about the characters or discussed anything about the books we just roleplayed it during recess . . .

i do think that i probably turn a lot of Potential Friends away just because i dare to like a character that the majority of the fandom hates...which is unfortunate that the fandom has gotten to that point where liking/disliking a character will get you mass blocked by all the popular wc blogs but. oh well! at least i know im not alone in liking nightheart, there's at least a handful of nightheart fans out there <3
