However, this past year i had the honor of watching Isabella grow up to be the most loving little girl in the world, and i am so proud to be in her life. Blood-related or not.

@.lewishamilton I landed in Montreal and went straight to a retro game shop. Got myself a Sega Genesis and of course, Ayrton Senna’s Super Monaco GP II. I loved this game as a kid and still do now. Still holds up! Naturally I got super competitive with myself. My personal best right now is a 49 second lap, pretty sure I can beat that tho. That was only after a few tries. I’ll let you all know when I beat it.

hi al! question from a newer fan of the sport. i hear a lot of drivers talking about how mentally/physically demanding the singapore gp is.
my question is a two parter
i) is it really that much more demanding than the (already super demanding) other races?
ii) is such a demanding race good for the drivers?
again this is more coming from the fact that almost all the drivers talk about how difficult this is and i havent really heard this level of talk about the other races.
Unrelated - but thank you so much for making f1 accessible to new fans of the sport! reading your blog helped me feel less clueless about everything in general
sorry about the long ask and much love <3
Hi,
So the thing with Singapore is that it’s both incredibly physically challenging and also mentally challenging.
The physical challenge comes from the heat and humidity, it’s usually about 60+ Celcius in the cockpit in Singapore and the bumps and the corners puts quite a strain on the drivers core.
The mental challenge comes from the fact that it’s such a tight street circuit, so the drivers have to stay very switched on and incredibly alert, similar to how they have to be in Monaco.
Very few tracks combine such a physical challenge with a mental challenge and require such a skill.
From the sounds of it, the drivers relish in the challenge of Singapore, and a lot of drivers like challenging races as it allows them to really push their limits and show their skill. If you look at the races that drivers don’t like they tend to be quite ‘easy’ tracks with lots of runoff - which Singapore isn’t.

I just had an itch to play old games says Hamilton after retro console video sends internet wild
Lewis Hamilton’s Instagram went into overdrive ahead of the 2022 Canadian Grand Prix, as he posted a video of him playing a retro racing video game, with Hamilton revealing in Montreal that he’d felt the need to scratch an 80s console itch. Over 1.1 million Instagram users liked the video of Hamilton tackling Ayrton Senna’s Super Monaco GP II on a Sega Genesis console he purchased upon arrival in Montreal, with Hamilton posting on Instagram: “I loved this game as a kid and still do now. Still holds up! Naturally I got super competitive with myself. My personal best right now is a 49 second lap, pretty sure I can beat that tho. That was only after a few tries. I’ll let you all know when I beat it.” WATCH: Take a virtual reality ride around the Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve with F1 22 And speaking in Friday morning’s press conference, Hamilton revealed why he’d been moved to make his impulse buy in Montreal. “I just had this itch to play old games!” said Hamilton. “I've just recently bought an old Nintendo 64 – actually no, I didn't buy it, I found it in my storage and then I went and got GoldenEye. Then when I landed, I went to get Mario Kart but they didn't have the Nintendo 64, so I bought... a Sega Genesis. And then they had the Senna game there, so I was like, oh, that's perfect. So I've been spending the last couple of nights driving the Senna game. But I'm not that quick on it.” Asked cheekily by Max Verstappen, sat next to him in the press conference, whether he’d suffered any porpoising issues on the game, Hamilton laughed: “No, no porpoising!” READ MORE: FIA to introduce measures to control porpoising in the interest of safety Looking ahead to this weekend’s action, meanwhile, Hamilton revealed what it meant to him to return for a race in Montreal for the first time since 2019 – with Hamilton having secured his first win and pole here back in 2007, while he’s gone on to take six poles and seven victories here overall. “It’s very special coming back to Montreal,” said Hamilton. “It's great to see the people, the city, great to see the energy throughout the city as you're going through. I remember my first time here, and my first Grand Prix win here, my first pole in 2007, so it's always special when I come back here. My Dad called me and we reminisce about these sorts of things. So it’s great to be back. I can’t wait to drive this track, because the track is awesome, I just hope our car’s better this weekend.” via Formula 1 News https://www.formula1.com

TecToy’s newest authentic looking Mega Drive clone is out...but there’s more!
The new adventures of TecToy’s brand spanking, old looking Mega Drive. News has generally been pretty good for Sega recently — not only did they announce that their earnings are on the rise, but they’ve also announced that cult classic VANQUISH is heading to PC’s later this month following the success of Bayonetta’s arrival on Steam. That’s all well and good, but there’s something else on the…

30 years old: Check out some of the best Mega Drive games
Tumblr media
In two weeks’ time, the long-awaited Mega Drive miniature is hitting stores, and with the original video game’s 30th anniversary just recently celebrated, there’s nothing better than celebrating it with a list of the best Mega Drive games.
Impressive roster of Mega Drive Mini games
8BitDo M30 control – overview
Tumblr media
But before we list the games, it’s worth briefly telling the story of one of the best and most important consoles of all time. As SEGA’s third video game and a direct successor to Master System, Mega Drive was released in Japan on October 29, 1988, arrived in the United States on August 14 the following year, and in Brazil on September 1, 1990. https://wbup.org/
Developed from SEGA’s arcade board and known as System 16, it had the legendary Motorola 68000 chip as a processor and attracted the attention of the people of that time, as it was able to reproduce with great fidelity several titles that were successful in slots. .
After encountering a lot of resistance in Japan due to stiff competition from the Super Famicom (Japanese SNES) and the PC engine (known here as TurboGrafx-16), the Mega Drive was much more fortunate on this side of the planet, with many successes in Europe, Brazil and United States. An important detail is that in Uncle Sam’s land, the device’s name was changed to Genesis, and it is speculated that it was due to a trademark dispute.
Another striking feature of the Mega Drive were the add-ons made for it, the most important of which are the Mega CD (or SEGA CD in the US) and the 32X. An interesting fact is that even with the console’s power improvement significantly, sales were not good and several games were released for use with these extensions.
It’s also worth mentioning the many versions the video game has received over the years. From the portable Mega Drive known as the Nomad to the one that paired the console with the Mega CD, the Genesis CDX (or Multi-Mega in Europe), models from several manufacturers such as JVC, Aiwa and Pioneer Corporation have also emerged, not to mention the clones that appeared later.
According to estimates, about 35 million Mega Drives have been sold in the last three decades, with Tec Toy alone accounting for almost 10% of this number. However, this shouldn’t be the final install base, as apart from the Brazilian company Majesco and AtGames, there are others still producing this fantastic video game to this day – and they don’t give any hints that they’ll stop anytime soon.
After this short breakdown of video game history, it was time to pick the top 10 Mega drive games and as always there were a lot of good things to be missed in these situations. These are fantastic games like The Revenge of Shinobi, Mortal Kombat (and his trick to make it as brutal as arcades), Road Rash and others that have marked my life like Flashback: The Quest for Identity or Ayrton Senna Super Monaco GP II.
Since this is a video game that has received so many classics, every person who made a list like this will eventually add some things and delete others, so there is no good or bad in this story. For my part, the only criterion was that the title became better known on Mega Drive or on other SEGA devices such as Game Gear or Master System. So let’s move on to the chosen ones:
Comic book zone
Considered one of the most visually stunning games of its time, Comix Zone told the story of Sketch Turner, an artist who made comics and found himself embroiled in his own work. What made him stand out was the fact that the whole adventure took place as if we were actually in a comic book, with each screen being a comic book and even lines formed by balloons.
With a very good gameplay and a difficulty level worthy of wanting us to play the controller on the wall, I had the impression then that the game was not as successful as it deserved, maybe because the next generation had already arrived, but it was gradually moved to cult status classic and to this day I dream of getting a Comix Zone sequel.
Castle of Illusions with Mickey Mouse in the lead role
Showing that SEGA was also able to deliver platform games as fun as Nintendo, Castle of Illusion was part of the second wave of Mega Drive gaming and alongside Sonic was one of those responsible for consolidating the video game to a younger US audience. Countries.
With beautiful graphics, accessible gameplay and one of the most loved characters in the world, this was the first game I finished and that’s why I have a special affection for him. Also highlight its sequel, the excellent World of Illusion with Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck, and the remake he received in 2013, with versions for PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.
Sonic the Hedgehog 2
If you lived through the 1980s and 1990s and liked video games, it was probably a shock to see Sonic the Hedgehog on the run for the first time. Colors, speed, amazing soundtrack, crazy gameplay … Everything about this title was impressive, being a beautiful example of how the creativity of contemporary professionals made a difference.
Then came the long-awaited sequel, and the impossible happened: Sonic the Hedgehog 2 managed to surpass its predecessor in all respects, and if you are going to be talking about the best Mega Drive games, you will definitely have to quote this masterpiece. A classic that remains fun even after all these years.
Shining Strength II
To show that Mega Drive is not just about games for kids, SEGA teamed up with Climax Entertainment in 1991 to launch Shining in the Darkness. Being a dungeon crawler, we had to explore three-dimensional labyrinths, facing enemies in turn-based battles.
The following year, Mega Drive received a sequel, the one titled Shining Force, with a different gameplay acting as a real-time strategy game. However, I think it was with Shining Force II that the series reached its apogee, with a much larger campaign, a more extensive storyline, and an open world, allowing you to return to previously visited parts at any time.
Gunstar heroes
The debut game Treasure, featuring mechanics similar to other gears and weapons such as Contra, Sunset Riders and Metal Slug, gave us a good idea of what this studio created by former Konami employees can give us.
In fact, the development of Gunstar Heroes began while these people were still working at the Castlevania house, but due to a conflict of interest, they decided to leave and, having agreed with SEGA, managed to create not only one of the best Mega Drive games, but all of the 16-bit generation. Beautiful graphics, polished gameplay and the level of difficulty to measure can only give you a classic.
Landstalker: The Treasures of King Nole
While I don’t love as much as the other games on this list, I will always have a special fondness for Landstalker: The Treasures of King Nole. With its isometric view and some really fun gameplay, I loved exploring the dungeons of this game and remember spending many afternoons glued to the TV trying to get to the end of it.
Despite the viewing angle that made some of the platform sequences irritatingly difficult, the game sparkled, allowing us to find a few items that would be essential for development and still had an interesting storyline. I think it’s a shame that the remake that was supposed to hit the PSP was never released.
QuackShot starring Donald Duck
If Mickey and his Castle of Illusion were responsible for winning customers for SEGA, Donald Duck was awarded one of the most sensational Mega Drive games. Dressing up the character as an explorer in the best Indiana Jones style, he simply provided an unforgettable adventure.
Apart from the beautiful graphics, the biggest attraction of QuackShot was the gameplay, because despite the fact that it is a typical platform game, the stages could only be completed when we had the right items. Figuring out what weapons to use in a certain area introduced a really cool element of strategy to the genre and set it apart from everything else at the time.
Fantasy Star IV
While Super Nintendo has always been touted as one of the best consoles when it comes to RPGs, Mega Drive has also received its gems, with arguably the fourth chapter of the Phantasy Star franchise being the main one. As the main series ending, fans should be excited to see the end of the Algol saga today.
Keeping most of the elements known from previous games, such as turn-based battles or aerial exploration, when we left the dungeons, only regretting that Phantasy Star IV was never translated into Portuguese by Tectoy, which happened to the predecessors.
run away
Developed by master Yu Suzuki, which hit the arcades in 1986, Out Run was simply a spectacular racing game. Thanks to the simple but challenging gameplay, our goal was to avoid traffic and try to get to the end of the stages before time ran out. But believe me, how much fun it was!
After going through the Master System, Out Run finally made it to Mega Drive in 1991, and how nice it was to have a version so similar to the arcades available from the comfort of our home. This is without a doubt one of the legends of games …
