You can tell the author is a part of the phantom just by the sheer amount of pain Danny has to go through in a short amount of time. Major respect. They’re also so good at dialogue, the convos are funny and the characters play off one another well. It’s in character. I liked it a lot :)

Unfortunately the author posted this anonymously so I don’t have any info on them for yall, but this piece was inspired by some art. The very next post on this blog will be that reblogged, so stay tuned I guess!

Hurrah! I admittedly didn’t spend a ton of time pulling this one together, so I’d like to present another Sapphireswimming fic;

A fascinating fic with engaging characterization, humor, just the best concepts, plus an ending that will light up your neural receptors like a Christmas tree. (That is to say, is interesting. Y’know, cuz neural receptors are a measure of brain activity and brain activity is increased when- You know what I mean. It’s good!) Shout out to Vlad for being a total frootloop, and major props to the world building (world mixing?) done in this. Details really do make a story so much more enjoyable! 

Another lovely fic by everyone’s fav, Sapphireswimming. Between delightful plotbunnies and even more delightful writing is there anything they can’t do?? Honestly, I think not.

Hello!! Quick sidebar before I start, but to those of you in the eastern US, keep an eye out for brood x! It’ll be another 17 years until we get to see these amazing creatures again, so do yourself a favor and take a closer look, they’re absolutely fascinating insects. There’s a ton of really awesome info online too, and all sorts of tracking websites so you can help Entomologists monitor the brood. Just! Cicadas! Love ‘em. And y’know what else I love? Something Wicked by @linzerj

Linzerj takes a look into Vlad’s perspective in a way I haven’t seen before in this fandom. Reading Something Wicked captures the sense of foreboding that Vlad exudes. He plays his cards in such a way that you can’t help but feel out of the loop. Sure everything looks fine, but he’s /planning something/ and you just can’t prove it. Pretty much my favorite kind of interpretation of Vlad’s character! I can’t really go into detail without spoilers, but major Bitter Reunions vibes from this one. 

Linzerj has written over 60 other stories on ffn, and another six over on their ao3 from an extensive list of fandoms. Marvel, Pokemon, TMNT, Twilight, Gravity falls, Voltron, if you’re in another fandom, I think you should take a scroll through their ffn to see if they’ve written for it, because they’ve got a lot! You can also follow the author on here, as tagged above. Seriously, worth the clicks, y’all, I’ve read a few of their other dp ones and very much enjoyed them!!

This one is so freakin great, interpersonal drama?? Excellent. Basically, Sam (& Sam), Dean, and Tucker are the only people who know Danny’s secret- and Jazz but shes waiting for him to come out.. come out. Is that the right term? Close enough. And while Jazz, Sam, and Tucker aren’t really in it, I implore you to keep them in mind while reading. Just- ! It’s an incredible take on the characters and the situation as a whole, seriously, you’ll love it. 

Sapphireswimming is a total gift, every time I visit their page I find something new and amazing. Given that you’re into this crossover (as I’m assuming you are), you’ve probably heard of them, a huge chunk of content in the fandom was created, or inspired by them, so you should go follow them if you aren’t already.

Superphantom by The Cinderninja

Giving both perspectives of what can only be called a hilarious first encounter, Cinderninja and Sapphireswimming create two equally entertaining stories that, while they can be read alone, are much better together. The Winchesters give the Fentons a visit, expecting an easy task, but when Tucker and co. answer the door it becomes... more complicated. Seriously, y’all, it’s so good, and excellently in character! 

Y’all probably know Sapphireswimming, they’re one of the most proficient writers in this crossover- and in all their fandoms in general. You’ve undoubtedly read one of their fics before, whether you knew it at the time or not, a total must-follow. Cinderninja is new to me, but they’ve been around for a hot minute, and based on this fic, a necessary read. They’ve got fic for DP, Fullmetal Alchemist, Lord of the Rings, and probably a few others that I didn’t catch. You’ll find them on ffn and ao3, both of which they’re active on today!! I know they’ve got a poll up on their ffn if that’s something you’re interested in too, go visit!!

Hunters and Halfas by @wolfeyedwitch 

on ao3. This is an absolutely enthralling series with three installments (1, 2, 3) to date. Now, this is where I want to start literally GUSHING about this series, because for me it checks so. many. boxes! In the interest of no spoilers, though, I’ll be as hype (but vague) as possible.  

Excellent big sister Jazz, the phandom classic, dissection, clever mixing of lore, Bobby, and spot-on characterization to boot! It cleverly takes so many good tropes, twists em into a bow and gives em a dash of lemon juice. Seriously, I cannot get enough! Plus, it’s a recent and ongoing series, we get to see this created in real time. Go ahead and follow the author so you can keep up with this, and all the other things she’s up to, she’s got a pretty well-curated blog.

As always remember to review!! Whether it’s an emoji or a personal essay, there is nothing better you can do for your fav writers than give feedback. Fandom is an ecosystem of sorts, writers put out content, we show them support, and they feel inspired to do more things, as well as the countless readers who will look up to said writer and start their own projects. Good afternoon and happy Derby Day everyone! For those who don’t care about horse racing happy Saturday I guess. Kidding, kidding, seriously, I’m happy to have yall here, because today I have the honor of presenting:

It’s an au in which Danny, as the title suggests, is half angel instead of half ghost, which I think is honestly a genius way to translate halfas into the spn universe. This fic is funny above all else, just so much fun to read, but still has twists and a few heartbreaking moments. Make sure to mind the tags, is what I’m saying. It’s written like a friend telling a story, very much Danny’s thoughts and the syntax is very much how he’d put things, so I thought that was really neat. I know first person POV can scare people off, but at least read the first chapter, if it hasn’t hooked you by then I don’t know what will.  

Go ahead and go follow the author on tumblr, ao3, and ffn. Dunno how active they are on the fandom scene anymore, but she’s got a bunch of fics published for DP, and some for tma, spn, wtnv, and hannibal that you should check out! Or just follow her tumblr, I scrolled through it some this morning and it’s a pretty solid blog, lotta good posts.

“Ghost of Adam” by @mabel-but-slytherin

I’ve got to admit, I didn’t have a ton of opinions on Eve until reading this story. Really, considering all the buildup the show discarded her rather quick, but (Mabel? Slytherin? Mabelin? Mab-Sly... yeah that works) Mab-Sly really capitalizes on the inherent creepiness of her actions, and her ghost-like obsession. Eve really becomes a formidable villain through Mab-Sly’s keyboard. I found myself all eyes-wide the entire time, as I slowly pieced together Eve’s plan first from Vlad’s POV, and then watching it all fall together in her POV. Seriously, bone-chilling stuff people, the kind of read that makes you have to stare at the screen and blink a few times to process. Plus!! It has a sequel!!!

“Descendant of Cain”

(on ffn as second chapter)

Featuring Crowley, and some other characters who I’m not going to explain right now because they totally surprised me in the end and that was a pretty awesome experience. Just... Wow. Watch as highly powerful beings attempt to manipulate one another and feel horror at the implications of their actions! I really don’t know how else to say it, just go check it out, it’s a good read.

And go follow the author! Mab-Sly (I really hope you don’t mind that I’m calling you that) is in a ton of fandoms, clearly spn, dp, gf, and hp, but they’re also into Merlin, Soul Eater, and a ton more! Go ahead and check out their list of works when you finish reading Ghost of Adam, I’m sure you’ll find lots to enjoy on their page. It’s 1k words, a short but oh so entertaining read, Danny really shines in this one, with his trademark sass. The way the lore combines in this one is amazing too, the author did a great job of setting up how dp ghosts interact with the spn ghost rules. Tons of great, in-character interactions to really brighten your day.

You might recognize this one because I’ve already reblogged the tumblr version, but oh boy I just had to make a dedicated post to it. It has the take on Danny and Jazz’s relationship that I find to be completely under-explored, and while it’s only 2k words, it adds so much world building to the universe. 

It’s a oneshot, and will not be continued by the author, but they’ve given permission for it to be continued, if you’re feeling inspired by the ending. If you do, please lmk so I can add onto this post and link your continuation in the replies.

It’s finally Saturday!! Good afternoon everyone, hope your day is going well, this week I’ve got:

“Phantom Encounters” by Wan0 on ffn. 

I’ve been itching to share this one for a while, it’s a perfectly paced, exquisitely descriptive, and all around awesome story that pulls you in from the very beginning. If you’ve ever spent time on this blog you know that I’m obsessed with the guys all teaming up, and this story absolutely delivers on that. Tucker and Sam (Manson), while never having actual direct lines are one of my favorite parts of this story. Everyone is so in character, from the way they talk to their body language, to their writing (I love how you can tell Jack from Maddie’s entries on the website! Absolute joy). I’d better stop describing before I give the entire thing away lol, but please, do yourself a favor and go read it. 

Do please note that this story is unfinished, and it doesn’t appear that Wan0 has been active since 2017, so it’s likely it’ll be staying that way, however, it’s still worth a read. I’ve re-read it a few times since I found it, and while the lack of ending can be disappointing, the great writing in the text that is there more than makes up for it.

Afternoon everyone! How do yall feel about horror? Considering what fandoms you’re in, I’m gonna assume it’s a solid yes, which is why I’ve got;

“Amphisbaena” by @durinswizardwheezes

This one has. SO much. Lore especially, angst, horror, fear, and an ending that you might see coming but still leaves you shook. Excellent concept, like nothing I’ve seen before, with such clever and unsettling narration. Mind the tags, ofc, but holy crap you’ve gotta read this one. 

Go ahead and follow the author as well, they’ve got a bunch of Harry Potter, Gundam 00, a bunch of other animes, and a few other DP and SPN fics you should check out! Their blog is pretty active too (via queue? I’m actually not sure how queues work haha.), and though I’m not in any other fandoms with them, there’s a ton of awesome stuff to look at there. I’d recommend going to their ao3 page and check out what fandoms they’ve written for. 

And, as always, leave a review! Show your authors some love, feedback makes a ton of difference in fandom. Let creators know you like their work and keep creativity going. It really can mean the world to someone.

Good morning everyone! Today I’m coming back with a series of oneshots,

“Inspired” by @vitaliciouscreations

Every single one of these, while being short, captures the reader. Vita has a way of thinking up so many interesting and compelling scenarios that really go to highlight each character. I’ve got a soft spot for the Tucker ones especially. They’re all incredibly well crafted and beautifully in character. This one makes for a good read if you don’t have the time to sit down for a continuous story, but, I will say once I read one I didn’t stop until the end. 

The author no longer writes for Superphantom, but from what I can tell they’re still relatively active on tumblr, notably for Miraculous Ladybug, if you like Inspired, go ahead and give them a follow!!  

Please remember to leave a review! While the author might not be continuing their series or writing for this fandom anymore, leaving feedback is the most important thing you can do for a writer. Just a few quick words can really brighten someone’s day.

Superphantom Saturdays #12

Evening y’all! Welcome back to Superphantom Saturdays!! If my math is correct (crossing my fingers here) we’re at three months now??? Wild! This week please check out;

“The Family Business” by @shinobicyrus 

It’s a clever retelling of the DP story in the SPN universe, centering Jazz. It mirrors SPN s1, and just has /incredible/ writing and such great concepts and ideas, and- I have theories okay, seriously, I love this one!! 

Now, this one isn’t finished and it won’t be, BUT I think unfinished stories are just as valuable as finished or ongoing ones (though I promise I’ll post some finished/ongoing stories on this series if that’s something y’all’d prefer)!! I mean, what is an unfinished story but an unintentional oneshot? I think after rephrasing my thinking as such I’ve been able to enjoy many more stories that I otherwise never would’ve given a chance, and yeah it’s a little sad when its over, but it inspires imagination! There’s more to think about, y’know? 

Anyways, tangent over, go follow the author!! They’re currently posting a ton of awesome looking Disney stuff, Gravity Falls, Paranorman, and much more!! I absolutely adore their writing style, so I’m absolutely going to be keeping up to date on their ao3 account ^^. As always, remember to leave a review! Just because the story is over doesn’t mean the writer won’t appreciate hearing from you!! Don’t underestimate how valuable your thoughts, as a reader, are.
