Susato enjoys sitting outside with you and drinking tea. It's nice to talk about your days and have a relaxing time.

Sometimes, she likes to bring a book along with her. Even though it can be qualified as a date, it's a nice comfort of going out to eat and enjoying each other's presence while reading.

I can see her also liking to go somewhere to pick up some street food before finding a bench and sitting down and watching the sunset together. It's nothing too fancy, but she appreciates it all the same.

The way I understand it, Herlock raised Iris as his daughter, and when trying to tell her he wasn’t her biological father accidentally made it so that she didn’t call him PaPa anymore, hence why he cried when she did again at the end of the second game. I also find it hilarious he decided to tell her that Mikotaba was her father, but left out his name so she could figure it out for herself like a true detective. I mean obviously she got it wrong, but it was a nice principle to let her try to figure that out. Or maybe It was so she wouldn’t contact him and Mikotaba’s family would get the wrong idea, as Susato did initially. I can honestly see a “The Great Ace Attorney Investigations: Herlock Sholmes” spin-off being a real possibility. I mean Shu Takumi’s ideas for the character did come from an initial idea of a stand-alone game. There is plenty of story space there, from Mikotaba and Sholmes meeting, to him and Iris in the present. I would expect that is how it would go.

Yeah Iris and Herlock's whole relationship is so sweet and unnecessarily complicated. I just love that when we first meet them Iris is specifically like "this is herlock he is NOT my dad!!" and then by the end of the second game you're like oh, because the reason she's so insistent is so much more heartbreaking than you thought.

Please correct me if this is addressed more in canon - but I do wonder when Mikotoba decided that he wouldn't raise Iris. I've only played through the game once, but I believe he has a line about how he held onto Iris longer than he wanted to admit after she was born. Did he leave Iris with Herlock with the intention of coming back for her? Did he leave her as the daughter he never had or as a child he had a moral obligation to take care of?

I guess my real question is why didn't Herlock just raise Iris as his own daughter. She clearly saw him that way - we know from the fact that she literally tried to call him dad and how quickly she accepted him at the end. The sticking point was always Herlock.

Wasn't there something about an investigations game on Capcom's survey? I'd love one, either way. I prefer continuations to flashbacks, and I think Iris especially has a lot of scope to be a protagonist of a 10 years later kind of game. Or even Gina? Before playing I was pretty confident that I just wanted more of the modern gang, but wow did TGAA make me fall in love with these characters. AND the game mechanics are genuinely my favourite from the whole series.

(ngl I love the sequel trilogy crew but wow does this prove how poorly the whole "we can't spoil the previous game in this game!" thing ruined my ability to connect with the characters. i was pretty unspoiled for tgaa, and i was super invested in the mysteries and the characters because they were interlocked. i....literally paused spirit of justice to play tgaa and i'm meh about going back to it.)
