Summer Swap Fic Masterpost

For those who aren’t subscribed to myself or @athenrys/ @trashaddendum11 on AO3, I wanted to make a l’il promo post for the unconventional Divergent OT3 series that we have (accidentally? Purposely?) crafted! I say “we” as though I wrote anything other than the final short oneshot but shhh.

It started I think vaguely because I mentioned off-hand how much I love Lauren as a side character and as an underappreciated female role model she could have been for Tris. And then quickly spiraled into Symbiotic and I making 👀👀👀 faces at one another and going “what if mentor/mentee but girls?” to create Lauren/Tris as a rarepair. During this, Symbiotic made Lauren and Eric a dark horse brOTP to which I then hounded her with “but actuallys” until we decided, while yes, Lauren and Eric had massive mutual respect they would also be hella fucking ride or die romantically for one another once they fucking figured it out. Lastly, somewhere in the middle there was Eric/Tris tossed in because, well, of course 😂 You can’t put Symbiotic and myself together and NOT get Eris out of the mix.

So, please do consider checking out the works from this progression of idiots in love (who don’t always realize it themselves).

Ooo okay yes yes! I am actively reading Scars of Light by Kallypso aka @kallypsowrites which is an amazing Darklina AU. Not sure that i'd call it a fix-it per se since it's got a very dark premise with the AU, but boy does it fix MY sad feelings about all the Darkling x Alina potential.

then from my current Leverage obsessing I've got The Assortment by symbioticdeath aka @athenrys which is just a love letter of shortfics for my favorite thief and side character pairing.

and back to my star wars bullshit I've got A Wash of Broken Bits by misszeldasayre (I can't recall if they have a tumblr...). It's such a good Reylo bounty hunter AU :3333

14. Do you have a personal word minimum that you hold yourself too? Why or why not?

Not on personal projects, no, but for events my thought process is to try and do at least 500 to 1k more than the minimum. That's usually how my pacing works out.

16. Do you research for your fics? If so, how deep of a rabbit hole have you gone down by accident when researching?

Uhhh it really depends on the fic 😅 I'll do a bit of canon review as needed especially when I'm fresh into a fandom (so much frantic Wookiepedia searching when I started in SW...). But for other research I tend to just do just the fine details. "Am I using the right term for this item?" "What kind of field medicine would be used in the tail end of the golden age of piracy?" "X character age". Stuff like that. I trust my gut most of the time and lean into what the story wants or needs rather than getting bogged down in accidental anachronisms or slightly fantastical levels of human strength.

17. How obsessively do you sit and stare at your fic after you’ve just posted and wait for feedback?

Wait, you guys stop staring at your AO3 pages at some point? 😂😂 honestly I'll wait for the first comment or handful of comments (if it's like a "popular" WIP of mine) and then I'll have convinced myself that it wasn't total crap. Then I open up another google doc and start the whole process all over again.

Every WIP that I inevitably don’t get to finish by 31 Dec 2021 -- nah just kidding. I mean that’s technically true but I’ll get more specific about the ones that I’m very 🥰 about finishing

Where Hoofbeats and Hearts Thunder - Statistically speaking, I am already behind on the intended update schedule for this and am getting slammed with end of year workload, so I will have to finish this in Jan. 

I am not a martyr; I’m a problem - the self-indulgent fix-it/bodyguard AU with my faves will of COURSE need as many chapters as possible and thus will be continued into 2022. 

Prove It - yes the still-beating heart of this multichap is throbbing under my floorboards and MUST be dealt with so that I can be free of my guilt

Safe House - an oldie but a goodie. I would love to take 2022 and finish up this Buckynat accidental roommates hiding from the law fic. 

25 - A fic you read this year you would recommend everyone read

Uhm so I already went on a bit of a fangirl kick on the Angel series (which, no, is not about the show Angel) by anomalation that is all of the Hell’s Kitchen disasters but in particular focuses on Karen, Jessica, and Billy in a way that just makes me possum scream in absolute joy and how did you do it no really how did you DO it??? But. If you missed that. You should, uh, read it. 

Gonna get on my soapbox for a second and rec not one but TWO of symbioticdeath’s works because a) she deserves it and b) if more people read these then maybe there will be more updatez pls? (said with love don’t kill me darling)

First off continuing in the Netflix MCU there’s A Heart of Wreak in Thee, That Wilt Revenge. Which. Is so unfairly good that I am foaming at the mouth and just trying to keep up with the caliber with the bodyguard AU.

And then there’s a totally different fandom with her Deadlier Than series which is a Divergent f/f and then poly series that has me going uwu every damn time. So. Everyone should read, clearly~
