Sometimes you do gotta do that thing that is detrimental to your health. Self care is sometimes harmful, and yes it’s confusing, but needed.
It’s helped me to think of juggling balls, only some are rubber and some are glass. I can let the rubber ones fall — I’d prefer not to, because they bounce everywhere and make a mess, but they’re harmless, but they can fall. The glass ones can’t — they’ll shatter and break, and that’ll hurt me a lot more than rubber.
Remember: you can let the rubber ball fall. You can go one day without brushing your teeth. You can go one night with a bad sleep schedule. You can do something that means you “dropped the ball.”
Especially if it means preventing a glass ball from falling.

something i feel is important to share.
i used to be vehemently anti-endo until very recently. *earlier today*, actually.
i realized that holding all this hate in my heart over people who are just trying to exist is illogical.
they still exist despite the hate. they're still plural.
now, i understand both anti- and pro- endogenic perspectives. i was an anti-endogenic syscourser for three years. i found that my distaste wasn't the endogenic plurals themselves, it was their community. often i'd see words like "sysmed" "ableist" being flung about by endogenic people towards anti-endos. and that furthered my hatred. i'd see people selling alters or claiming syshopping was real (less often, but it still occured occasionally) and that furthered my hatred. i'd see people say that DID systems deserve the trauma if they were anti-endo. all disgusting behavior that pushed me further & further into being anti-endo.
please, let's not spread hate around. i know it's tough seeing people not understand your identity. but you can't fight fire with gasoline. you need to be understanding, and warm. i know it's difficult, but calling people sysmeds and traumascum isn't helpful.
EDIT : I AM ENDOGENIC MYSELF!!!! I am not trying to police our community, just better it . You can't get anti endos to be on our side if you throw insults at them left right and center, and same goes for the anti endo community towards us

Alr imma start some drama rq
Idgaf if PluralKit and SimplyPlural were made by endogenics. These are two really fucking useful things that can be used by all plurals.
From what I know, SimplyPlural and PluralKit are NOT endo exclusive, but correct me if I’m wrong.
I get if you’re anti-endo and don’t wanna use endo resources, but Jesus Christ it is not that deep unless these resources are endo-exclusive. Also they’re really really useful. Just because you’re anti something, that doesn’t mean that everything that something makes is horrible and useless.
Again, correct me if I’m wrong, but I don’t believe SimplyPlural or PluralKit were made to be endo exclusive.
It’s the same as PluralPedia. It supports endos, but it’s not stupid when it comes to spreading real and accurate information. Just because someone supports endos doesn’t mean they’re uneducated.

survey time!
we are curious about the overall opinions of anti-endos vs pro-endos, so we’ve put together a pair of surveys to gauge people’s thoughts.
link to pro-endo survey (for pro-endos to fill out)
link to anti-endo survey (for anti-endos to fill out)
please only fill out the survey that matches your syscourse alignment. if you are syscourse neutral/unaligned, please select the survey that most closely reflects your views, or complete them both if you don’t lean one way or the other.
the surveys were both created with google forms. if you have any difficulties filling out the survey, or have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us!
at this point we are not sure how long our surveys will remain open. feel free to snag the links and share them around to any system who might be interested. thanks so much everyone!

Understanding the difference between systemic oppression and social stigma: Why endogenic systems aren't oppressed for being plural, and why that doesn't mean that their struggles are unimportant
Time for the newest syscourse topic, one that I’ve actually been thinking about quite a bit lately. I had a conversation with my very pro-endo friend about it a while back, and it caused me to realize that the entire issue is really that we don’t understand the distinction between oppression and social stigma, and why exactly endogenic plurals are stigmatized, but not oppressed. And why this doesn’t mean that struggles that they do face are “invalid” (boy, do I hate that whole concept. I hate the whole valid thing. It doesn’t do anything any justice.)
To start off with, it's important to clarify each of these terms. Oppression refers to the systematic mistreatment, subjugation, and denial of rights by those in power against a specific group. On the other hand, social stigma involves societal disapproval or mistreatment directed at individuals who possess certain characteristics or identities. While the two concepts may intersect, they are not synonymous.
Endogenic plurals, despite facing challenges in the form of social stigma, do not experience systemic oppression in the same way as historically marginalized groups. The comparison I drew in my conversation with the previously mentioned friend was to communities like furries and therians, who similarly encounter varying degrees of societal rejection. While they may be subjected to ridicule, bullying, or social ostracization, these experiences are not the same as being actively oppressed by institutions and systemic structures.
I would also like to highlight that the challenges endogenic plurals face are largely only present within the Western context. Outside of that, they not only ‘would be’ but are very easily accepted, sometimes for religious/spiritual reasons. I had someone from the Middle East (not going to specify which country because I don’t know if anyone knows who this is and would prefer to not dox them lol) describe to me that they once thought that they were endogenic – they were open to their family and community about this, and were very widely accepted for it. It was seen as creative, and a beautiful thing! But once they discovered that they had formed their system through trauma, and that they had DID, it became different. Suddenly it was something to be shunned – this is largely because it isn’t the system that’s the issue. It isn’t the concept of plurality that is an issue, by and large, it’s the trauma. It’s the fact that this is a disabling condition. It’s the fact that when you have DID, you have a rare mental illness. It’s the fact that you are experiencing trauma responses that are unpalatable to those who don’t understand them.
That’s far from the only story I’ve heard of that type, and I’ve particularly seen a LOT of Asian systems speaking about acceptance of endogenic plurality vs. rejection of DID in their cultures. This is a very West-centric argument, and also goes to show how narrow of a perspective many of the current larger syscoursers pushing endo oppression as a concept have on the subject of oppression.
You may say, “But, there’s a potential for systemic oppression and violence against endogenic plurals! We just don’t have enough data, because they’re not “out” yet.” My friend said this! I appreciated the point, because it allowed me to highlight my above argument about endogenic plurality outside of the west and also the fact that historical patterns of systemic oppression and the reasoning for such and the examination of parallels with other marginalized groups and their histories with oppression reveal that such concerns are really just… Not warranted. Genuinely, the struggles that endogenic plurals face are much closer to that of the furry community, or that of the therian community. These groups also have to deal with with societal misunderstandings and negative perceptions. Just as with endogenic plurals, the issues they face stem from a lack of understanding rather than a deliberate effort to oppress. If either of those groups were to be open about their identities, they’d face similar struggles – and they do. It’s not exactly the wisest thing to talk to your boss about being a furry or a therian, and it’s liable to get you some hate/bullying/mistreatment directed towards you at some point. It’s stigma.
While endogenic plurals may experience interpersonal mistreatment and possibly even limited job opportunities due to being open about their identities, these challenges are primarily driven by social stigma and negative perceptions. It's worth noting that any systemic violence or marginalization they encounter often stems from an intersection with already marginalized groups, such as the queer or neurodiverse communities. Sure, many endogenic plurals are queer or otherwise neurodiverse, but that intersection and further the violence directed towards it can’t exist without the existence of those other identities. A cishet, white, NT and otherwise non-marginalized endogenic plural isn’t oppressed. A trans, ND, POC who is an endogenic plural is, but not because of their plurality, though it does create a different (and notable) intersection with a few of these aspects.
It's really important to recognize that conflating social stigma with systemic oppression oversimplifies the experiences of truly systemically oppressed groups, while at the same time not even doing any justice to the issues endogenic plurals themselves DO face. If we can just… Understand that these are two very separate issues, the distinct challenges that endogenic plurals DO face can be more accurately and effectively addressed and advocated for. If we can just ACKNOWLEDGE this, that’s already contributing to a broader, more informed discourse that fosters so much more inclusivity and empathy than what we’ve got right now.

I am so tired of minors in syscourse spaces, I'm not going to lie.
If you are a minor and you are syscoursing, please focus on just surviving. Please. This is absolutely a traumatizing space. If your method of survival is harassing people on the internet, find a new goddamn hobby. I promise you, gardening is far more enjoyable and actually results in pretty results. I hear knitting is fun. I play video games and write.
If you exist as yourself online and that pisses someone off, and they start doing shit, please simply block and move on. They literally cannot do anything to you. If you want, try to find a way to report them if the behavior is reportable.
And if you are a grown adult getting mixed up with this shit, please be kind. There are minors who will be in these spaces, regardless of what is actually best for their health and wellbeing, and regardless, people should be nice to each other. Genuinely do not know how so many of you forget that.

anti-endos, we need to talk.
you have got to stop fakeclaiming endos. yes, even if you don't give a rat's ass about endos and think they're all fakers anyway. even if you hate their guts.
because I promise you, every time you do this you are hurting traumagenic systems, too. every time you say a thing can't happen* and therefore someone is fake, a traumagenic system reads that post and says to themselves, "but I experience that, does that mean I am faking?" and they spiral.
doubt and denial are a core part of this condition. we all fakeclaim ourselves enough as it is. stop making it worse.
*this obviously doesn't apply to claims of things that are scientifically impossible, like system hopping. it's about claims that alters can't have a certain appearance in the innerworld, or can't do x thing, or claims about how systems or switches work that can't and haven't been proven.

Fusion is so epic. I love healing. I also love integration. I love being able to process my trauma and emotions in a healthy way. I love not needing dissociative barriers and parts to hold the pain. I love taking small steps for the better
Fuck yeah!!! I’m so glad for your journey and recovery 💜💜💜

You never need to respond to that person. In fact, you owe it to yourself not to.
It’s easy to feel like you need to defend yourself; that you “owe it” to people, somehow, because of their demands. It’s a common trauma response as well — fawning to people who are often absolute strangers due to that fear of an unsafe situation, even when you’re perfectly safe.
You owe these people nothing!
You’re a user on a tumblr blog. You are not an idol or a martyr or up on a pedestal; you’re just you. Don’t force others to make you something else.
If someone is demanding a response from you, remember: you do not owe them anything.

No, IDing as traumagenic or disordered doesn't give your abuser credit for your existence
And I can't believe I'm saying this. Here's some banger touhou music to listen to while reading this.
To frame it in a way that makes sense, when someone who has a physical disability tells you they are disabled, are they giving the metaphorical accident that caused it (that, if it were an accident at all and not congenital) credit for their existence as a disabled person? Is it a direct "YOU DID THIS TO ME" every time they express their existence? A youtube copyright claim over their presentation as a disabled person?
Acknowledging you exist because of circumstances doesn't give your abuser royalties or shoutouts or ad space between your selves, just like developing long covid doesn't put the @ of a fucking virus on your Tumblr, and the fact people are purposefully avoiding identifying as traumagenic or disordered because they don't wanna credit their abusers is driving me up the wall. It's weirdly ableist in the sense that it assumes all traumagenic systems who are open about being a system give credit to their abusers for abusing them– which guess what, is not at all part of what the word represents. It's not abusergenic, guys, trauma can be due to things unintentional, uncontrollable, unavoidable, and that's the thing! Centering the trauma lets YOU control the narrative, it doesn't mean your abuser now has airtime in your story as a system, because it doesn't even imply there ever was an abuser at all!
If you're uncomfortable with the word, just fucking say you're uncomfortable with the word and examine what that means for you all instead of making these wild and hurtful assumptions about literal strangers oh my GOD

Many pro-endo systems have begun saying that anti-endos should be considered a hate group. I am curious syscoursers thoughts on this.

I need to vent to yall rq
BIG TW
Tumblr media
(Cropping the user. Don’t go hunting for this person and don’t send them harassment, I’m just using this screenshot as an example. many people have said this)
Maybe, think about this, people have this thing called a backstory. And not every anti-endo is gonna be like “erm actually they hurt my feewings🥺”
I have trauma caused by endos. I’m not even anti-endo but I LOVE anti-endo spaces because they make me feel fucking SAFE. If I vent to an endo about the trauma endos have caused me, the most I’ll get is an ‘erm not all of us are like that…’
Tumblr media
Or I’ll get some shit like this. “Where are these systems” maybe I don’t wanna fucking know!! Also trust me endos exist outside of tumblr and discord, not all drama happens online. I’ve met endos irl which I never wanna meet again.
I have friends who have trauma caused by endos. They’ve told me stories of how they got sent gore, rape, etc. Anti-endo spaces make them feel safe.
Also when I interact with anti-endo-safe-spaces, it’s not even about endos. It’s just about life and I don’t have to worry about what endos did to me happening again in that space.
I don’t hate endos. I’m cautious of them.

ID: A userbox with a black-and-white scale-patterned background. There is a black-and-white image on the left, which is a kaleidoscope-style pattern resembling a Rorschach ink blot. On the right, there is purple text stating: “This user doesn’t care about discourse around the validity of endogenics and would rather address misinformation about DID and issues within the DID community.” End ID
Made a userbox for myself and anyone else who feels like it fits. :) Please reblog and credit @dissociativediscourse if you use!
