You’re Hired
I love The Apprentice. I look forward to it every single year. It’s the one reality series that too-smart-for-you TV snobs won’t look down on you for watching, despite the fact that The Apprentice is really just Big Brother in suits. Think about it: larger-than-life contestants, living together in a big house, completing tasks where they will always be destined to fail (because it makes for much better conflict), all while being watched closely by an omnipotent figure, who calls all the shots.
In fact, Alan Sugar is a much scarier man-in-charge than the titular Big Brother. For one thing, he looks the contestants in the eyes when he’s destroying them emotionally - Big Brother hides away in a little recording booth somewhere, where he’s safe from any angry housemates, who’ve snapped after the pointlessness of what they’re doing has finally dawned on them. What a coward. Also, Alan Sugar is really bloody rich. Alan Sugar is so rich that he could probably buy you, and sell you back to yourself at a much higher price, and that’s pretty scary, if you ask me.
But, I digress. The thing that’s so great about The Apprentice is that it’s so low-stakes. Not to the contestants, of course, but to the viewer. See, it’s the only reality show where I never care who stays or who goes, and that’s because the contestants are usually, without exception, cocks - and this year hasn’t been much different.
Obviously, the stand-out recipient of the ‘Jesus Christ, You Really Are Absolutely Awful’ award this year has to be librarian and general irritant Lottie Lion, whose name alone makes her sound like the archetypal spoiled brat character from a Roald Dahl novel. It suits her so well, it’s almost as though her parents just sensed from birth that she was going to turn out that way. Or maybe she came out of the womb riding side-saddle on a horse and waxing lyrical about how much better she is than everyone else. I can’t know for sure, but I wouldn’t be surprised.
When she wasn’t shooting a piece-to-camera to repeat her mantra “I’m not here to make friends, I’m here to win”, she was busy coming up with increasingly ridiculous reasons why she was the ideal candidate for the top job in each task. She started out strong in Week 1 by announcing she was the best choice for sub-team leader in a tourism task, because “I know that the population of South Africa is 51 million”, and yet, amazingly, still managed to out-BS herself week after week. Perhaps the finest example was Week 9, in which she described having viola lessons when she was four as having been “in the music industry for 15 years”. By that logic, I’ve been in dentistry for 23 years, because I can navigate my own mouth with a toothbrush without taking out six of my teeth in the process.
Oh, and let’s not forget the remark she allegedly made in a contestants’ group chat, in which she told Pakistani candidate Lubna to “shut up, Ghandi”, before allegedly threatening “I’ll fucking knock you out at our press training”. Obviously, this is horrendously racist and absolutely out of order, and with any luck, Lubna might knock her out first, since, as a person born with arms, she has technically been in the boxing industry for 33 years.
On a much lighter note, this series might have introduced us to one of the most genuinely likeable contestants The Apprentice has ever seen in the form of Thomas Skinner, a self-described “full-time geezer”. Obviously, that’s not his day job - geezering does not pay very well, especially in this difficult economic climate. He’s a salesman, and a bloody good one - he’s so ridiculously charismatic that he could sell me the very concept of breathing itself and I’d probably pay over the odds for it.
Unfortunately, he wasn’t very good at much else, and was fired by a reluctant Alan Sugar after losing eight out of the nine tasks he’d been involved in. I got thinking, though… couldn’t Alan Sugar just take him on anyway? Considering the lack of success that previous winners have experienced, he honestly might as well. I’m not sure exactly what he would hire him to do, but if anyone can help Thomas realise his dream of actually making a living as a full-time geezer, then I’m sure it’s him.
Personally, I think he deserves all of the money and maybe a knighthood, purely on the basis he’s the first candidate in a long time that hasn’t once described himself as ‘cutthroat’ or ‘brutal’, or made some ridiculous statement about how money is so important to him that he’d probably murder his entire family for a fiver. You know, like they usually do.
This year’s final saw headhunter Scarlett Allen-Horton and artisan bakery owner Carina Lepore go head-to-head for the opportunity to work alongside The Ultimate Sugar Daddy, with the final task being to create a hypothetical launch for their respective businesses.
Step one was to pick a new brand name. Carina and co. decided on Lepore’s, because - as Thomas put it - “people will go for the bread, but they’ll go for you, too”. It’s a nice enough point, but if she’s opening a chain of bakeries, she won’t always be in there, will she? I can’t tell you how many times I’ve been disappointed to go into a Blackpool branch of Gregg’s, only to be told that, once again, I’m unable to speak to King Gregg himself. He’s probably hiding in one of his fancy London stores, the big elitist. Scarlett had slightly more trouble with rebranding her recruitment company, which aims to place more women and minorities into top level engineering positions. Marianne helpfully suggested naming it after “those animals that build their own homes”. Beavers. She means beavers. Beaver Recruitment? Really? Not exactly suited to a top level headhunting agency, but on the bright side, she may have just stumbled on a great new way for men to describe going out on the pull.
Next on the agenda was to come up with a billboard and a TV advert. The billboards were both surprisingly good, at least in comparison to anything else filmed against a cheap green screen in this year’s series (the now infamous soundbite “who took my unicorn, Sparkle Stars??” from Toy Week immediately springs to mind). The TV advert task was a different story for Scarlett, who was surprised to find that her ‘vision’ of Lewis, Lottie and Marianne driving an imagery car in an empty warehouse wasn’t absolute advertising golddust. “It’s cheesier than I imagined”, she said, upon seeing it for the first time. How? I genuinely can’t understand how she came up with that and thought it was ever going to look like anything other than part of a hastily-planned GCSE Drama performance. But then I would say that, because as someone who has seen a TV advert before, I’ve technically been in marketing since 1996. On Carina’s team, their prison-themed advert for her artisan bread (no, I’m not sure how they arrived at this idea, either) was far more impressive - prefect from a 1960s comic book Ryan-Mark even managed to put in a convincing performance as a hungry jailbird, which wasn’t something any of us were expecting to see this year.
After this, and the all important pitches - which I’m not going to go into, since it’s consistently the least entertaining part of the finale, where I imagine most people, including me, take a toilet break - it was time for the final boardroom. In all seriousness, the tension in the final boardroom is mad. I can only imagine it’s like you and another person are staring down the barrel of a madman’s gun, except the madman is Alan Sugar, and you want to be shot because, instead of bullets, it’s money. Actually, it’s not like that at all, is it? But it must be absolute squeaky bum time for the candidates, is what I’m trying to say.
After a few minutes of back and forth, and a couple more minutes of Carina and Scarlett turning on each other at the last second - which I’m absolutely, one hundred-percent, completely sure the producers definitely didn’t encourage in any way - The Sugarman arrived at a conclusion, and crowned Carina the winner, with a statement that I’m sure we can all agree with: “I do like the idea of more bread.” Well, don’t we all?
Anyway, deserving winner found - as well as plenty of memorable moments and ridiculous characters along the way - that’s it for another year. The only thing I’m left wondering is why it’s called The Apprentice, since the prize is a £250,000 investment, and since most real life apprentice jobs pay about £3.90 an hour. But then I wonder that every year, and to be honest, I’m all fired out.

VirginRiver Reveiw (kinda)
don’t get me wrong I really love this show and I am so grateful it exists (please don’t cancel it Netflix) but I feel like if the writing was just a littttle bit better it could be so freaking good. Like the characters have these big emotional scenes but there’s no real payoff for them? They kind of just keep going the next day as if nothing has happened. Also some of the characters could just be a little better but they make them really petty and superficial. Like Charmaine could be so interesting if she wasn’t pining over Jack the ENTIRE time.
I haven’t read the books but I feel like the writers and producers and trying to minimise this really good underlying story of into a typical, predictable television show. Like TV has evolved past that we don’t need the standard wishy washy storyline’s give us something a little more intelligent pleaseeeee. Does Mel even have a single ‘Bechdel test’ passing female friendship (besides hope/patients)? They could have made the new girl that came in her drinking buddy or something.
Does anyone else have any thoughts? Book readers? - are they doing it a little justice or just completely straying from the OG story?

Archive Project - March 12, 2014 - Mr. Peobody and Sherman Review
For the past couple of Animated Features i've seen in theaters there has been a trailer for this "thing" called Box Trolls. This movie is apparently being made by the production house behind Coraline and ParaNorman. That fact alone, more than the trailer itself, makes me want to go see this movie. Whoever these "Laika" people are they are insanely talented with stop-motion animated. The insane level of detail that goes into their movies is terrifying to comprehend. So with that in mind, the philosophy for trying to sell this movie to audiences was to apparently show the movie's production… instead of the plot or characters. They just released a second trailer for this too… and this one also doesn't tell us anything about the box or characters. It works almost as a before and after shot. All the cool things they bragged about in the last trailer are shown in full force and it LOOKS good. It strikes me that there is a lack of confidence that people would be interested in the story they have to tell given how odd it looks. This assumption wouldn't be too out there as ParaNorman didn't actually do well when it was released, sadly. Maybe i'm wrong, heck I want to go see the movie cause I know it's full of a lot of talent. Who knows… ONTO THE REVEIW!!! ————————————————————————————————————————— ————————————————————————————————————————— Mr. Peabody and Sherman, 2014. Rob Minkoff 92 Minutes Watch the trailer here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aMl2tTVwsZA ————————————————————————————————————————— ————————————————————————————————————————— Famed animator Jay Ward is a critical figure in the history of cartoon animation. His work in the 60s brought forth a lot of major television cartoons and helped bring animation, which had previously largely been reserved to theaters due to it's high production costs, into the homes of everyday people. His work during this time comprises a list of some of animation's deepest roots: Rocky and Bullwinkle, Dudley Do Right, Fractured Fairytales and of course Peabody's Improbable History. In the latter of the list: Mr. Peabody is the world's most intelligent dog. He adopts a human boy in a witty role reversal of the common "Boy and His Dog" trope and then uses his intellect to build a time machine known as the WABAC machine to give as a gift to his boy, Sherman. Peabody's Improbable History was usually incorporated into Jay Ward's Rocky and His Friends, a half hour collection of animations from his catalog that ran into the mid-1960s which was later renamed The Bullwinkle Show. Peabody's Improbable History died with Rocky and Bullwinkle and was never successfully revived. Flash forward to the 2010s. Director Rob Minkoff, famed for his masterpiece The Lion King, decides he wants to do a passion project for one of his inspirational childhood cartoons. He manages to get the rights, the funding and does it. The result is an updated version of Peabody's Improbable History, titled Mr. Peabody and Sherman. I will give this movie credit where it was due. I went into the movie expecting it to be bad. The trailers didn't impress me at all and I wasn't excited to see one of the cartoons I loved as a child repurposed into disposable children's entertainment. Upon seeing it I can now say this: Mr. Peabody and Sherman was not as bad as I was assuming it was going to be. It however isn't a great, lasting or even very memorable film though. Its just really dull and inconsistent. One of my biggest fears going into the film was that the characters were going to get butchered and made stupid. Mr. Peabody sounded ultimately dumb as a character in the way he was described and Sherman looked like an idiot, hyper active kid with ADHD and voiced by a terrible child actor. Surprisingly  most of those things never FULLY came into fruition. I mean you can definitely tell Sherman is played by a kid who has never voice acted before but the things that would have bothered me weren't sharp enough to bother me. The opening scenes of the film play out as a… oddly morbid and dark, but clear homage to the original episode of Peabody's Improbable History with a lot of the same story beats being reenacted into horrible 3rd dimensional animation (i'll get back to that..). Even some of the cinematography is meant to evoke the original show which is facisnating to behold. This strikes me as a reassuring pat on the back to fans that the people behind this did their homework and care enough to try to make this for fans, by fans. Which I would appreciate, if I considered this film to be anything special Something that really bothers me though is the way the story plays out. There are a lot of plot threads that pop up that don't make any sense in the context of the movie. For example, it's implied throughout the movie that Peabody and Sherman as going through effectively, daddy issues given that Peabody can't admit he loves his Sherman and such. But that defeats the entire purpose of why Peabody adopted Sherman in the first place; he did it so that he could give Sherman the love and support he never got as a child. From the way they interact in the first scenes and throughout the movie, its clear that they have a healthy relationship with each other. Peabody takes care of Sherman, provides him with everything he can and teaches him everything he can. What is the point of sticking daddy issues into the mix? Especially when another story plot deals with Peabody having to prove to the government that he is a good father figure, which by rights he already appears to be. The ONLY evidence that Peabody might be a bad father is that Sherman bits a kid a school for picking on him which is implied to be somewhat justified…? It just feels like outside of the main story involving time travel, all of the treads are messy and inconsistent. Also they try to evoke parallels Doctor Who by making the WABAC perform and evoke visual similarities to a TARDIS… Who wants to be original with time travel when they could just invoke pop culture imagery more for less effort? Also the logic behind the time travel doesn't make any sense.. It didn't in the original show either but that was part of the joke.   I must also complain about he sound design in this. It was horrible… Theres a scene early on in which Peabody and Sherman are riding on top of a wave down a sewer and the sound effects, other than being much quieter than they should have been, sounded like they were panning wave sounds up and down. It sounded cheap and didn't evoke what should have been the appropriate sounds for this scene. Overall, three works really strike me about this movie. Those words are: "Missing The Point". Peabody's Improbable History was a fun show, not because it was well animated or slick, but because it was well written. The people who made this show had limited time and money to make these cartoons and couldn't afford the same animation houses that made classics like Tom and Jerry or Looney Tunes. They had to compensate for that by making the writing pick up the slack for everything else. It had to be fun and witty and it succeeded in doing so. Peabody's Improbable History was intelligent and was meant to teach kids about history in silly ways. Mr. Peabody and Sherman doesn't teach kids very much, other than a historically inaccurate retelling to the French Revolution. This movie has it way too easy. With the ease of computers nowadays entire animated movies can be made quickly and cheaply. Thats why so many 3D animated movies are awful nowadays. 2D animations and shop motion ones take a lot more work and have a different feel to them. It feels like with those that there are people working on them. When you get a modern 3D animated movie in the hands of people who aren't creative or innovative enough to make something interesting with it like Pixar, Dreamworks or Disney are then the end result is garbage like Ice Age 4 and The Nut Job… I would have at least preferred this movie if the people behind it made it 2D to be more respectful to the source material. Heck, Rob Minkoff made the best 2D animated movie of all time! He could have made something great! Thankfully, Peabody's Improbable History isn't some great thing that needed to be preserved creatively. It wasn't something great like RoboCop or Total Recall that didn't need a reboot. I'd be all for it if Cartoon Network or Nick managed to secure the rights to reboot the Rocky and Bullwinkle show in a new format if the right people were behind it. This movie didn't ruin anything by being dull. Considering some of the other horrible movies based on the Rock and Bullwinkle show that have been released like Rock and Bullwinkle… Dudley Do Right.. and Boris and Natasha… I think I can forgive this film for a lot!   My Recommendation: The original episodes are Peabody's Improbable History are still floating around Youtube nowadays. The original 5 minute episode tells the exact same story as the movie. No I don't support internet Piracy, so I wouldn't recommend that you check out the original 5 Minute episode on youtube which can be found in the link below. I would not recommend you click that link and watch it instead of paying to see the movie in theaters. Do so at your own risk! :P http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=owB6zFSZbng ————————————————————————————————————————— ————————————————————————————————————————— Mr. Peabody and Sherman is now in theaters. Thank you for reading! Live long and prosper!

“VICE” Cheney film critique
Tumblr media
(National Review vs.  Variety)
Topic and discussion on today’s politicians and politics is probably at its highest peak ever in the last 10 years. Although, these discussions run amuck in local coffee shops, office cubicles, family gatherings, they are also flooding these ever -growing avenues of social media via TV programs, magazines, newspapers, flyers, blogs, groups chats, news feeds and so much more.  Political purging ranges from constant ridicule, disgust, loyal support, diversity, racial profiling, lies, cheating, immoral acts, constant scrutinizing, infidelities, incompetence’s and so muchmore.
One particular avenue of social media is television, this is probably one of the most powerful avenues that is accessed. There are multiple talk shows and News channels that are relentless in attempting to provide the most accurate political forefront yet their differences are the most obvious. Although television talk shows and News channels have had the platform to rally up and try to persuade the parties of America there is also movies and Comedy shows that have tapped into the political pool creating enhanced criticism on each political party. In particular, the well-known comedy show “Saturday Night Live” began their political comic skits starting as far back as George W. Bush and once they the covered Sarah Palin (VP) campaign the popularity with this show went wild creating a new edge of political social avenue. Movies now are taking the same dare and are creating comedies and/or factual film as a continued persuasive move on American politics and politicians. This brings me to the movie “VICE” that portrays the character and political life and private life of Dick Cheney former vice president.
According to the social media “Variety” written by Owen Gleiberman the movie Vice portrays Cheney to be the “ultimate stealth power player”. This particular article focuses on how Cheney has outplayed the powerful right -wing Republicans like in Nixon, Reagan and Trump. The writer and director of the film Adam McKay treats the movie as a slightly cracked burlesque. “He turns history into a rollicking circus for liberals inviting us to revel in Dick Cheney’s greatest hits of infamy”.  According to a Gleiberman, the movie portrays much of Dick Cheney’s dark-side from his college day binge drinking and driving to behind-the-scenes recklessness such as grabbing control and command of the military decision-making process, lining up favors with his cronies in the oil industry and the infamous hunting scene that according to the film Cheney never apologizes for. The movie goes as far as elaborating on his poor health choices leading to several heart attacks. The most powerful message the film is able to get out there is that Vice succeeds both as a “brash try anything entertainment full of outrage, sorrow, and a sense of absurdity and as a guide to how we fell into our current predicament. “Cheney is portrayed as a career politician addicted to secrecy, pushed America toward autocracy when he was Vice President. Now our President is a career scam artist, addicted to publicity, and the power he craves is at hand.”
Stuart Klawans from “The Nation” has a whole different response to the movie “Vice”. “Adam McKay plays for laughs in Vice like Scheherazade playing for time. Lives are at stake- the lives of people everywhere subject to American power.” This particular critique on the film is not so much focused on the movie and its content but more on the writer and director Adam McKay. Here the writer lashes out at the writer Adam McKay and also his other films that he’s done and pokes at his character more so than did Dick Cheney. However, the article and its critique alludes you to believe that they feel the film was wrongly made and portrayed false qualities and characteristics of former VP Dick Cheney.” McKay has chosen suggestions he might harbor a less sympathetic attitude. You catch a whiff of resentment from professional funny man who has to jolly the audience into paying attention, a hint about why McKay bypassed the Cheney specific title Vice Pres. And went for the cultural wide allegation of Vice.

If you or a loved one were administered Actemra for rheumatoid arthritis and suffered complications, including heart attacks, heart failure, life-threatening lung complication or pancreatitis, contact Attorney Group for more information about your options.
We can answer your questions in a free and confidential consultation. If you wish to pursue a claim, we can connect you with an affiliated attorney who can file a Actemra Lawsuit on your behalf.
News reports claim to have found “clear evidence” that the risks of heart attacks, strokes, heart failure, and other conditions were as high or higher for Actemra patients than for patients taking some competing drugs, but that these risks were not warned about on the drug’s label.

An Actemra lawsuit may be an option for patients who took the medication and suffered severe side-effects. New reports suggest that drug makers failed to adequately warn patients in the U.S. of risks of heart failure, life-threatening lung complication or pancreatitis allegedly associated with the medication, which is used for treatment of rheumatoid arthritis and other medical conditions. Affected patients and their families may be able to file a lawsuit and recover compensation for their injuries with the help of a bad drug attorney.

The purpose of this article is to provide you with additional information so that you have a better understanding of your options.
What is Actemra?
Actemra is the trade name for tocilizumab, a biologic drug developed to reduce the effects of a substance in the body that can cause inflammation leading to rheumatoid arthritis. As a biologic drug, it is man-made through genetic engineering, and it is closely related to a protein that occurs naturally in the body. Biologic drugs are used to suppress the immune system in autoimmune diseases.
One such autoimmune disease is rheumatoid arthritis. As an autoimmune disease, rheumatoid arthritis causes the body’s immune system – which normally protects its health by attacking foreign substances like bacteria and viruses – to mistakenly attack the joints. The resulting inflammation causes joint tissue to thicken and results in pain and swelling. Left unchecked, the inflammation can damage cartilage and the bones themselves.
In 2010, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved Actemra for the treatment of adult patients with moderate to severe rheumatoid arthritis. Since its initial approval, Actemra has been approved for the treatment for other arthritic conditions in both adults and children. Additionally, it is reportedly prescribed “off-label” by doctors for a number of other conditions.

  How Does Actemra Work?
Actemra was developed to inhibit the biological activity of a cytokine protein called Interleukin-6 (IL-6). IL-6 is produced in the body wherever there is inflammation, either acute or chronic. This includes inflammation caused by trauma, burns, cancers and infection. The connection between IL-6 and rheumatoid arthritis is not clear, but IL-6, in addition to other cytokines, are found in high concentrations in the joints of people with the disease. As with other autoimmune diseases, in rheumatoid arthritis the normal immune response to the presence of unhealthy factors in the body is somehow directed toward healthy tissue.
Actemra is designed to block the interleukin IL-6 receptor to stop the production of inflammation in the body. It is administered through an injection administered once every 1-2 weeks, or through an IV infusion administered monthly. It may given alone or with other medicines used to treat rheumatoid arthritis
Actemra Side Effects
As with other biologic therapies, a potentially serious side-effect of Actemra is an increased risk of bacterial infection.
Common side-effects of Actemra include:
Runny or stuffy nose,
Sinus pain,
Sore throat,
Headache,
Dizziness,
Itching,
Mild stomach cramps, or
Urinary tract infection (UTI).
In some cases, monitoring by a doctor may be required for persons to whom Actemra is administered.
Actemra Warnings
The Actemra label includes a warning for a risk of serious infections, including tuberculosis, bacterial, invasive fungal, viral and other opportunistic infections.
Other Actemra Risks
In a troubling article filed in June 2017, Stat News wrote about Actemra under the headline:
Failure to Warn: Hundreds Died While Taking an Arthritis Drug, But Nobody Alerted Patients
In the explosive article, the first of a two-part series focused on problems associated with monitoring the safety of new drugs, STAT claimed to have:
[A]nalyzed more than 500,000 side-effect reports on rheumatoid arthritis drugs, and found clear evidence that the risks of heart attacks, strokes, heart failure, and other conditions were as high or higher for Actemra patients than for patients taking some competing drugs.
Moreover, the article claims that while most of those medications warn about these risks on their labels, Actemra does not.
In addition to the side effects listed in the lede for the story, the article reports on patients who took the drug experiencing:
Pancreatitis
Heart palpitations
“Brain Fog”
Small strokes
Hair loss
Tremors
While the company denies any wrongdoing in connection with the drug, and one company representative is quoted as citing a study he characterizes as “definitive proof” that Actemra does not increase cardiovascular risk, “experts consulted by STAT disputed that claim.”
Moreover, the article noted that
In a review of millions of reports to the FDA involving more than 100 drugs approved since 2010, Actemra stood out. It showed that Actemra patients had experienced an unusually large number of serious side effects that didn’t appear on the drug’s warning label.
STAT also noted that 26 deaths from pancreatitis were reported in patients who took Actemra, out of 132 patients overall who developed the condition.
The article concedes that other risk factors can contribute to the serious conditions experienced by some patients who took Actemra, including those leading to heart problems and pancreatitis, but it questions the decision by the manufacturer to not list those risks on the drug’s label, providing warnings to doctors and patients, as the manufacturers of similar drugs have done.
Finally, the report notes that a condition of the approval of Actemra was that the manufacturer sponsor multiyear studies to monitor for “unseen problems” and cardiovascular events. However, the article points out that “one of the recurring criticisms of our drug safety system is that we rely upon the very companies that are so financially invested in a product’s success to conduct the studies that explore safety concerns.

Actemra Lawsuit Claims
If news reports on the dangers of the drug are accurate, is anticipated that an Actemra lawsuit will be filed against the manufacturer of the drug alleging that known, severe side-effects and complications associated with the drug were withheld from patients, and that the company failed to properly warn about the dangers of the drug. In other, similar types of cases, the manufacturer is often sued for designing and manufacturing a dangerous and defective drug, for failing to warn of the dangers of associated with the drug, for negligence in the sale and manufacture of the drug, and for consumer fraud related to its sale and promotion.
Has There Been an Actemra Recall?
Although there has not been an Actemra recall, news reports claim that the drug makers failed to disclose known side effects of the drug and that patients suffered damages as a result. Failure to warn of side effects of a drug can be a basis of drug company liability, regardless of whether the drug has been recalled.
Is There an Actemra Class Action?
There is no Actemra class action pending as of July 2017. Actemra lawsuit attorneys are doubtful that a class action will be certified for patients who are adversely affected by the drug. Instead, if multiple Actemra lawsuits are filed against the drug makers alleging injuries and other damages caused by Actemra, it is anticipated that these lawsuits will be consolidated for discovery and other pretrial proceedings.
When cases are consolidated in this way in federal court it is called multidistrict litigation (MDL), and on a state level it is known as a state court consolidated proceeding. MDLs are distinct from class actions, and it is generally agreed that consolidating cases instead of proceeding in a class action is a more efficient and effective way of handling claims arising from injuries caused by pharmaceutical products.
