im gonna put some of this under a cut if you’re not caught up on csm manga and theories that are floating around. so spoiler warning if you read ahead.

he’s…off putting.

if you’ve seen any of the theories about him floating around lately—mainly, that he’s the death devil, one of the four horsemen,then that makes him downright terrifying. right?

even if he’s not. there’s just something about yoshida’s gaze.

shark eyes, ya know? a little empty. hungry.

(i think the horsemen have this gaze anyways but.)

i think he is patient in an eerie sort of way.

i guess im imagining yoshida in college or just young adulthood and he’s…patient with you in an unnerving way.

he’d wait out every horrid boyfriend girlfriend almost partner fling you ever had. let’s you learn all your lessons and come crying to him, where he keeps himself incredibly reserved while comforting you. coos at you with a hand on your back, or perhaps pets your hair. (it is a little patronizing, if you think about it, but it is comfort, nonetheless).

or perhaps some of your lovers just disappear.

or tell you they never want to see you again.

you start thinking you have bad luck or maybe it’s all—well, it’s gotta be you, right? since they’re all running for the hills? since you can’t get anyone to just stay?

except yoshida.

been here the whole time.

doesn’t really push you or—you don’t really think he’s interested in you like that.

until you tell him you’re going out on one more date, one more try, one of these times its gotta work out—

and he laughs kinda coldly. and he asks, are you serious.

but its not really a question.

and you go, what do you mean? of course, yeah, i’m—

“you’re not going.” he says casually, easily, that pleasant, simple smile on his face once more.

has it always looked this hollow? this—dangerous?

you laugh nervously. “oh, you’re in charge now?”

he gazes at you from under long, dark lashes. pretty, pretty boy that he is. disarming. slippery.

“you know, you’ve really made me chase.”

i think he’s horrendously, terrifyingly patient, until he really isn’t anymore.

deft fingers tip your chin up and your mouth is hanging open in shock.

i think he torments you, since you made him wait so long.

makes you squirm and embarrasses you. is almost mean but pretends he is only being mischievous. i think he wants to eat you alive. i think he wants to make you suffer with barely a touch.

his voice is coaxing, a tendril of persuasion until you’re bare and you’re not even being touched and somehow it’s so much worse that he’s not touching you. that he’s fully clothed and he’s just—

messing with you a little. lurking in your shadows, guiding you. making you suffer. making you beg.

he likes to play with his food, you remember. circle it a little, wait for the best moment to—

and he keeps that same smile on his face, the easy, pretty one. the hollow one, with the shark eyes.

but you catch flashes of it sometimes, the thing that lurks beneath his skin, the desire he barely contains.

you catch it in the slip of his smile that is more a baring of his teeth. the sudden swarm of darkness, of possession, and hunger in his usually aloof appearance.

the moment before he strikes, like a shark’s eyes as they roll back and sink into their teeth into flesh, you catch the horrible bliss of it. the way he savors it.

the way he savors devouring you whole.

The thing I find really interesting about Inilow is we really only see his true opinions on love during his S supports across both Awakening and Fates. Those conversations boil down into one of two things*:

--He's insecure about the proposal (See: Azura, Orochi, Lucina, Severa.)

--He says he'll stop his philandering ways/he's given his heart away to whomever he's proposing

*Should be noted that in some supports both things are addressed! (See: Azura [again], Camilla, Noire)

But there's a line in his S Support with Cynthia:

I want us to get old and gray together.

And yeah, that can be taken as a throwaway line to fit the tone of the support chain, but the thing about Inilow is he hides his true feelings behind the mask of a flirt. Deep down, he does want to love and be loved in return. Sure, he goes about it in a very roundabout way.

The insecurity--in my opinion--not only stems from his own feelings of inadequacy but also from a fear of losing the person he loves. (The terrifying ideal of being known etc etc.) He's protecting himself before he can get hurt, and only calms down once the other person reassures him.

Certainly for Inigo, marriage is a hopeful thing. He and his partner will make it out of the war and live a long, happy life together. For Laslow, I do think it's a little bittersweet, and he's holding on to whatever happiness he can find in Nohr before he has to leave. (And that's an entirely different discussion on what happens after the events of Fates.)

Hmmmm-- honestly no! I think nine times out of ten, I check the rules first if possible and read them. Sometimes when I'm on mobile and the rules aren't accessible because of how tumblr pages work, I'll follow first, and next time I'm on desktop I'll read them, because I don't like mobile web browser version of tumblr much. But I mean-- the person who wrote them did so for a reason so I always try to read them!

Honestly my bigger issue is I've read so many and part of my health issues affects my memory, so I'm more anxious about forgetting something important and doing something wrong. ^^

I would say kinda? Like. I'm more comfy writing with people I know and trust a bit more. And sometimes a thread just grabs you and you are invested. Sometimes I'll have more than one thread with someone and be super excited about one while the other is in a slow period, so my focus might be more fixated on the one that's currently giving me the most interesting concept to work with!

I don't think I favor blogs that much though. I honestly just wanna build friendships with muns and have fun writing stories together! The only way i might show favoritism is like-- if you talk to me and interact with me, i'll probably be even more invested in what we make because of that more personal connection, or if i get to have fun building ideas for future directions for our threads/stories! But either way, I will probably keep threads going until we hit a good enough end or until my partner drops them ^^

i got my isbn today for the book. 8 months to go. my mom and i were talking about what the next steps are. i was eating trail mix, standing on one foot, phone tucked into my ear.

"yeah," i said. "the problem is that tumblr as a market is like, not something that can be studied." there's this weird wave of nostalgia and affection for this place that came up over me: how lovely we avoid consumerism. okay, it sucks as a creator. but also? keep stickin' it to 'em.

my mother made the sound at the back of her throat that i also make, the one that means i've got an idea. "you should figure out some kind of reward for presale amounts. maybe you give out poems or a mug or a signed book or something. would your followers like that?" my mother is sweet, and kind, and i have no idea how to explain on this website you can buy someone crabs.

i put more m&ms down the hatch. i had to speak through peanuts and almonds. "if it passes 25 thousand i will print the book out in its entirety and eat it live on camera."

"oh god. no, you don't have to do that." she was anguished. "just tell them that you'd love them to read it, and that they've inspired you to write. you got started on that site, and they helped you keep going. raquel, you love these people. the community? you talk all the time about the other writers and artists and whatever else. tell them that you're hoping for their support, they'll come through."

"no," i assured her. i discovered i had dropped an m&m, but an ant had already found it, so it belonged to him now. i will let his little life have a surprise blue treasure in it, too. "i'm gonna fuckin' eat the book."

Who wakes up first? Please, they are both early birds, no doubts.

Who is grumpiest in the morning? Since both of them are so used to wake up very early, I don't see them being grumpy in the morning.

Who cooks breakfast? Either. Depends on the day. If Audrie has some important meeting, or a trial, he'd make sure to wake up earlier than her to cook breakfast, so she doesn't waste any time. And the other way around, Audrie would also do the same for him :)

Who serves the other breakfast in bed? Either as well! They like surprising the other with a breakfast in bed on the weekends.

Who suggests the skip work and stay home? Please. Like that would ever happen.

Who falls asleep on top of the other? Audrie 100% would.

Who always has to be touching the other? Both! Just small touches here and there. Like if they are reading together on the couch, he'd pat her thigh and she'd grab his hand, etc.

Who stays up until 2 reading? They are very diligent with their sleeping schedules, but I have the feeling perhaps Audrie would. Once in a blue moon though. He'd go to sleep, and she'd stay up reading. Then he'd eventually wake in the middle of the night from the light still on on her bedside table and would go like 'Love.....' with the sleepiest yet sweet smile while sighing.

Who kisses their partner while they’re sleeping? It would go either way.

Who is most adventurous? Audrie is. Andrew is the total opposite in that sense lmao.

Who is most protective? Andrew is very protective of Audrie. To him, she's the most important person in his life and her well-being is top priority for him. But then again, Audrie also is <3

Who cares too much? Same as above. They deeply care about the other.

Who is most competitive? I would say Audrie because of the field she is in.

Who sings in the shower? Audrie sings beautifully, and he loves listening to it every time he walks past the bathroom.

Who is more likely to get naughty in inappropriate places? They are a very proper couple. They would never.

he must not speak oceansong, because the icy waves have gone slate-dark, like the deeper parts of the sea, and the sound they make against the shore sings danger, danger, danger.

you watch him pick his way across the rocks, just out of reach of the ocean spray. he's quick. nimble. he moves like a current, like an endless flow of water, and despite yourself, you swim closer to shore.

you've only gone a few yards when he pauses. he looks out to the sea, his auburn hair caught in the breeze, and you go still.

he's looking right at you.

you've never seen a human with eyes like his. they're flat, shark-like, and he stares out into the sea like he's scented blood.

you can't bring yourself to duck below the surface. he's too haunting, his lean body coiled tight, like his skin is too small for him.

besides, he shouldn't be able to see you; you're still too far from shore. but something about the way he gazes out into the sea, his lips curling into a little taunt of a smile, makes you wonder.

he stares for a few minutes more. and then he makes a little noise—a hum, you think, almost lost beneath the ocean waves—and continues on his way.

you follow.

he's picked up several starconches when he turns back to the sea. it's grown wild now, the promise of a storm, and he whistles as he jumps back from a grasping wave. he looks out towards you once more, and his grin is razor-sharp, like the honed edge of a shell.

"hi there," he says, and his tone is playful, but you know what a predator sounds like. you flinch back, stirring the sea around you, and those cerulean eyes of his sharpen into something hungry.

you dive. let the sea welcome you home, cover you in her protective grasp.

you should know better.

but you return to the same stretch of shore the next day.

Sobbing uncontrollably reading through a dissertation about the college experience of students with ADHD. It is like reading a report about my life that just says over and over "My experiences are real. My hardships are real. I am not lazy, I am not dumb. My struggles were not my fault, and they were not a moral failing. The failure was with the system, not with me."

Here's a line that got me in particular:

"Hotez et al.(2022) compared the health, academic, and non-academic capacities of a nationally representative sample of U.S. first-year college students with ADHD and without ADHD. Students with ADHD self-reported lower academic aspirations and more feelings of depression and overwhelm, ranking themselves lower in their general emotional health. The fact that students with ADHD scored in the highest 10th percentile for many non-academic traits, such as artistic ability, computer skills, creativity, public speaking, social confidence, self-understanding and understanding of others, compassion, and risk-tasking, suggests that this population has strengths that are frequently underappreciated in academia."

(the paper is a thesis called "Understanding the Collegiate Experience for Students With ADHD" by Gia Long, 2022)
