UGH.

#went on my first real work trip in FOUR YEARS yesterday. had one meeting. #woke up this morning and was getting ready for a day of stuff with another one tomorrow #only to find out that one of the only five other people in the wednesday meeting just tested positive for covid #and another had found out she'd been separately exposed as well #so today turned into doing all my meetings on zoom and rearranging travel plans #and now instead of a professional thing i'd been really looking forward to and then a fun weekend add-on with the fam #i'm flying home late tonight to isolate in our third-floor guest room while boyfriend parents etc. #at least we got credit for his and bébé's last-minute flight cancellations #and we decided to leave the dog with the sitter that had already been arranged to just have one less thing on the collective plate for now #but UGH #and what's extra infuriating is that i am probably fine. i got boosted just a few weeks ago and wasn't like hugging anyone or whatever. #but you just don't know and when there's an actual case it's reason to be actually careful #and i'm just so exhausted and bummed about a lot of things already and had so been looking forward to this whole trip #best laid plans #as they say #anyway cross your fingers for me and the battery of rapid tests i'll be taking this weekend #and in addition to staying negative i'm also very concerned about whether anyone will be comfortable will me at thanksgiving #so that's a whole other thing #UGHHHHHHH #fucking #coronavirus

Today was my last Friday off for the foreseeable future from my job before I go back to having Wednesdays off to accommodate our severe understaffing issue on the Friday/Saturdays we’re open and I did absolutely nothing with my day today, but I do hope having a day off in the middle of the week from here on out will hopefully improve my motivation and help get me to start making appointments for stuff and the likes of that.

Something that's become very apparent to me since moving to Los Angeles from a different part of California is how much a lot of people — especially people from LA — just assume that Los Angeles and California are synonymous. It has happened several times now, where I've told people that I am planning on leaving the LA area when I finish my degree, and they then assume I mean I will be leaving California entirely. Basically every stereotype that exists about California is just a stereotype about LA — they are entirely nonsensical when applied to the rest of the state. I tell people I grew up in California and they make some comment on how it "must be nice to go to school close to home" when my hometown is over 400 miles away. It Pisses Me The Fuck Off. This is the third largest state by land area in the union and you think the entire state is accurately represented by just one urban center? Spend some time in the northern Sierra and get a fucking grip, man.

#I suppose LA *is* famously self-centered.... #I don't fault people who aren't from here As Much because it's harder to get an impression of a place when you don't live here #But as someone who has spent quite a lot of time in literally every corner of the state: #I can certify that LA is not a representative sample of the state as a whole and is in fact my least favorite part of it. #Frankly. Shockingly few people I've talked to here have even spent a large amount of time outside the LA basin #Most people either grew up here or moved to LA from another state #and the most people have done is like a weekend trip up to San Francisco #or like... maybe fucked around in Joshua Tree or Yosemite if they're outdoorsy. #It drives me up a fucking wall.

I've got two family events coming up during term time and I'm trying to decide if the trips are worth the cost by asking if my family is actually going to be attending them and my mum's response was 'I might be able to convince your dad if we know you're going :)' girl I'm not spending nearly £60 just to come down for the weekend only to then find out I'm going by myself

#+Extra #travel tag #one of my cousins has a babyshower coming up in may on a Sunday when i have class on Monday #i already know my mum isnt intending to go to that one and my aunt that lives in between me and them also isnt going so i cant go with them #its the most inconvenient of the two and i have to be home a week after so ive declined that one #but another cousin recently announced an engagement/housing warming party weekend at the end of april #and when my mum told me about it i asked if she was going so i knew whether or not to look into tickets #and she hit me with the 'might go if you do :)' girl im not risking £60 on a maybe especially cus getting there will be a nightmare #its not all the way down south with the rest of my family so its technically closer but if im travelling there i need to know #whether to come early and go all the way home so i can arrive with my family on the day or travel down the day of & get there a little late #in the day in the city where its happening and figure out how to get to the event by myself and sort out getting ready and everything #or like to not bother what so ever and theres no guarantee which day theyll go cus its both Saturday and/or Sunday #ideally id only go Saturday cus i got class first thing monday but i also dont wanna be there by myself #im not close with my cousins and my dad doesnt get along with my mums side of the family so its highly likely id be there by myself #which i absolutely do not want especially if im getting there late cus of relying on public transport #edit: itll cost between £50-£120 to travel o.o depending on how i travel #if i get the train the whole way cus its quicker and times are more convenient itll cost £120 for a return for a 3 hour trip #or i could spend £40ish to get there by train then £10 on an overnight coach back #which is cheaper than the £60ish it would cost to get coaches both ways and the travel times for coaches were ridiculous #but jesus christ 🤦‍♀️

Hi, anon! I honestly don't know. Perhaps he and his team thought that the m&g with the select fans was enough, since that was far more intimate than other m&gs. Perhaps the venue also wasn't ideal for an impromptu m&g, considering that it was smack in the middle of a business district with a very small parking lot, versus Melbourne's outdoor venue. There's the security of the fans, the general public, and Louis to consider.

While I am a bit disappointed to not meet Louis, I'm going to try not to fixate on it since comparing experiences will taint the ones I have. I'm sure he had a great time with us during the show, even if there was no post-show m&g. Besides, who knows, there's always next time!

has anyone done some sort of meta post about the world state in tw? i think we see a couple maps (a few town maps and one of where bh actually is in 6x6 but idk if the surrounding towns are real?) but the one that’s so strange to me is in 6x16 that shows the location of the other nemetons.

it’s weird bc it’s a normal map w all the countries (up to date at the time too bc it has south sudan) but then the oceans and lakes are just wild. i don’t have a screenshot but most of n+s america looks normal aside from a few extra lakes in the western us/sw canada. but then if you look at west asia, north+west+east africa, and central+east europe it’s like……there’s just lakes. so many fucking lakes and bays and rising sea levels but not bc most low lying areas are normal (netherlands, florida, etc). places that’re already hit hard by climate change like bangladesh seem fine but then mountainous areas like central turkey are just under wanter. and the lakes? i need someone to explain the lakes or at least make something up bc i can’t stop trying to figure out how they stuck this thing to the wall and no one thought it looked a little funky? idk man i gotta go to sleep

my mom isn’t letting my dad go back to his office bc him being out of the house stresses her out and makes her have a flare up and it’s like kind of insane. like i understand why the idea of him doing that would make her panicky and angry as someone who also struggles w separation anxiety and abandonment shit / has physical symptoms from that kind of stress (though not to the same degree ofc) but also he is a grown man. he should be allowed to go to his office and not have to shape his entire life around her needs. and she keeps guilt tripping him out of it and it’s impacting his quality of life a lot and the whole thing is kind of… hm
