Garashir, DS9, 17,929 w, rated teen
summary:
He was no one’s choice of nurse, Garak reflected, even if Bashir seemed to tolerate him more than anyone else on the station did. Garak had been trained to inflict pain, not to ease it; to terrify, not to comfort. Bashir had shown Garak more tenderness and care than anyone had in many, many years, and the idea of trying to play that same role for the good doctor now was, frankly, a little intimidating. Not trying at all, however, simply was not an option.

Is Buck on the floor bleeding out while his son watches- “He and Christopher were on the pier.” There’s one dizzying moment where Eddie’s vision completely whites out and he loses all control of his limbs but then a strong hand is gripping his arm and he manages to pull himself together enough to focus on Bobby’s face. “Maddie, how do you know that?” Bobby asks and he sounds calm but Eddie can hear the tension hidden in his voice. This can’t be happening. She slides her left hand all the way around his side until she’s hugging him from behind. She presses her cheek to the denim covering his back and closes her eyes. “It’s okay, dingus. You can let it out,” she murmurs. She rubs her face against his back and slides her hand down the bare skin of his arm. “It’s just me. You don’t have to pretend you’re okay.” Or: Steve has a tell for when he’s trying not to cry and Robin seems to be the only one who notices it.

Every now and then something appears on oldschoolfic-ds9 that makes me go "What the shit??" so I recommed you follow for a mix of older fic that is Actually Good, some stuff that's enjoyable but A Bit Dated, and the occasional Why Would Someone Do This? work.

Free fic idea: Post-“Broken Link” Garashir fic where they get into a fake relationship just so Julian can help get Garak some temporary breaks from being in a holding cell in the form of conjugal visits. He does this bc he sees the toll being confined to the small space is taking on Garak and he can at least get him into a slightly bigger room for a little while (or maybe a holosuite? I’ve seen that concept in at least one fic*, Garashir conjugal visits in a holosuite or maybe it’s supposedly for exercise or health check ups or something? regardless, it amounts to a conjugal visit lol). At first they just talk, argue about books, gossip about station events, but at some point the tension breaks and they do use the time for its intended purpose and the relationship is not so fake anymore <3
*EDIT: The fic I was thinking of with Garak getting exercise time in a holosuite, and him and Julian using it for a conjugal visit instead, is: Had we but world enough, and time, by @philosopherking1887

Hi, @lady-sci-fi I wrote you a fic for your request of Garashir + stranded in a desert + hurt/comfort, for the @startrekwintergiftexchange! Hope you like it! ^_^
Here's the start of the fic! (The whole thing can be found at the ao3 link OR you can expand this post to read the rest of it.)
Red lights flashed and consoles blared angry warnings. The whole runabout shook violently. The planet was getting closer, much too quickly.
“What happened?” Garak asked frantically, coming up behind Julian’s seat and holding tightly to the back of it as the turbulence tried its best to throw him to the floor.
“Solar flare. We’ve lost propulsion, we’re—Shit!—we’re going to crash, I’m sorry, I—” Garak set a hand on Julian’s shoulder for just a moment. Julian took a breath and exhaled. He needed to focus. “I’ll beam us down, I just need to set the coordinates.”
“I’ll grab what supplies I can.”
Julian didn’t have time or presence of mind to acknowledge this, too engrossed in trying desperately to feed in all the parameters the computer would need to transport them somewhere safe. Somewhere on the surface not in midair or underground, somewhere on dry land, somewhere without any other obstacles or topographical features nearby since it wouldn’t do to beam into a rock or a tree or the ledge on the side of a cliff…
The computer finished its calculations and the transporter pad lit up. Julian ran to the back of the runabout, grabbing Garak’s hand on the way and pulling him along with him.
Julian squeezed his hand and they stepped into the transporter beam simultaneously. He wasn’t sure where they would end up. But at least wherever they went, they would go together.
~
The Defiant would rescue them soon, Garak knew.
Garak’s most recent decoding efforts had narrowed down the location of the new base to three possible planets, and when he’d learned that Julian was up next for a shift of runabout piloting, he’d offered to accompany him on the recon mission himself.
Their first stop, Eolia III, had turned out to have an atmosphere that was a bit thin and a climate that was a bit extreme, but the scans showed that it was Jem’Hadar-free. Perfectly harmless, they’d determined.
But the star of the system seemed to object to that categorization, releasing a massive solar flare just as they were attempting to leave orbit, and knocking out propulsion and guidance systems.
And now they were trapped on this world until someone on the Defiant or Starbase 375 noticed that they were late for their rendez-vous. It shouldn’t be long. Starfleet required regular comms and check-ins for missions like these, and they knew exactly which planet they were on. It would be a day or two at most. Sooner, if the distress beacon they’d activated was working.
Knowing all of this did nothing to ameliorate Garak’s sense that this would be the end for both of them.
They were in the middle of a sandy desert, no water or shade cover in sight. They’d painstakingly climbed to the crest of the tallest dune they could see, the loose sand underfoot making them slip back one step for every two steps forward, only to find that the undulating waves of periwinkle sand stretched to the horizon on all sides. With a view like that, it was hard to dismiss the glum—and irrational, he hoped—thought that their bodies would soon get swallowed up by this sea of sand, never to be found.
Garak was sure that he would have very quickly given up and succumbed to the elements without the calming effect of Julian’s incongruously optimistic disposition in light of their problems.
“Oh, Garak, we’re in a right mess, aren’t we,” Julian said with a chuckle and a shake of his head. “When I told the transporter to set us down in a nice, safe, soft, flat spot, I must have searched for a safe landing ellipse of kilometers not meters. Well, there’s no point in wandering far away from the distress beacon. Nothing for it but to wait. Come on, there’s a little shade on this side.”
Then he turned so he was facing parallel to the crest of the dune and planted his feet at different heights on the steeper leeward slope, and let himself slide down the slope, using the arm closer to the dune to slow his descent and keep his balance.
When he looked up at Garak, triumphant, dusted in sand, his smile somehow outshone the sun that was beating down on them.
Garak followed him down, more slowly and cautiously. He was sure it was taking much more energy to control his descent compared to Julian’s method, but it would be worth it to keep himself a little less dusty. Besides, he was sure that he would immediately fall on his ass if he tried it, and he didn’t fancy making a fool of himself in front of Julian.
As it was, he still almost fell a few times, despite his less reckless approach. Julian watched him closely, starting to move toward him each time he wobbled, then stopping when Garak kept his balance. He offered his hand to help Garak on the final stretch to the base of the dune.
It was a relief when he reached the bottom. After the exertion of setting up the distress beacon and climbing up and then the sisyphean slopes of the dune, the sun’s heat seemed to throb in Garak’s head.
“Thank you, my dear,” Garak said, nearly out of breath, letting go of Julian’s hand.
He’d meant to add “Doctor,” but it was too late now.
“Any time.”
They set down their packs—two bug-out bags of emergency survival gear and Julian’s medkit—and sat in the slight shade that the steeper slope of the dune provided. Julian slathered himself with sunscreen and insisted that Garak do the same, despite any protests over the sliminess of it.
The light blueish-purple color of the sand, while beautiful in theory, was irritating in practice. The way it reflected light provided no relief from the intensity of the sun. Garak kept his eyes closed as much as possible, but the brightness of this planet seemed to pierce his eyelids, and he complained about it incessantly for a while until his mouth started to feel dry. He gave up on keeping his clothes pristine and leaned back against the sandy slope with one arm thrown over his face to create more shade.
Julian never stopped talking, except to take precious sips of water from their limited supplies. He told Garak everything he knew about the morphology of sand dunes, the rare diseases that can be transported by dust storms, the various places on Earth and Mars that they could visit to see impressive rock formations made from ancient sand dunes (and tentative plans to visit them together, once there was time), the strange plants and animals that inhabit various deserts on Earth… anything that came to that delightful mind of his.
Garak, for the most part, was content to take in the pleasant sound of his voice, only occasionally throwing in his own commentary and comparisons to Cardassian deserts. It was striking how animated Julian seemed now, and Garak found himself grinning, susceptible to the infectiousness of Julian’s good mood.
And what a difference from this entire past month! They’d all been shuffling mindlessly between the Defiant and Starbase 375, from battle to battle, but Julian in particular had seemed more affected than most. His once eager eyes were now haunted, his once rosy outlook darkened. So it made Garak glad to see that Julian’s spark of joy hadn’t been lost completely to the horrors of war. It had just been a little bit buried. Garak wondered what about being stuck on this desolate planet could have possibly unearthed it again.
Thirst began to gnaw at Garak’s throat more insistently as the day wore on. Unlike Julian, and in defiance of the rational part of his mind, he still didn’t completely trust that they would be rescued quickly, so didn’t want to use up all of their supplies right away. It was uncomfortable but he could handle it. He liked heat—well, it was better than cold, anyway. And this sun was no harsher than Cardassia’s. His scales should be well suited to the climate.
But soon, the sun was nearly overhead and all of their shade was gone, and he wasn’t so sure anymore. His clothes were dark and drank up the heat of the sun, and, despite his usual complaints about the unacceptable chill of Federation stations and starships, he was now much, much hotter than he would have liked. Julian was sweating too; he could see the glisten of it on his skin—
“Garak, could you give me a hand setting this up?”
He blinked. Julian seemed to be wrestling with the tent poles and tarps from their packs. Garak dutifully stood up, then immediately staggered. His head was spinning.
Julian ran over, and put an arm around him to steady him. “Hey, careful now.” He helped him gently back down to the ground and knelt beside him. “What are you feeling?”
“Dizzy.” He licked his dry lips. “Hot.”
Julian looked him over. He placed his fingers on the pulse point on his wrist and then after a little while brushed the back of his hand across Garak’s forehead. “I think it’s heat exhaustion. That’s not good, but at least there’s no obvious fever, so it’s probably not heat stroke. Not yet anyway. But I’ll need to monitor you with the tricorder to make sure it doesn’t get any worse, is that okay?”
Garak hesitated, then nodded.
“All right,” Julian said, seeming a little relieved that Garak was going to let him scan his vitals without the usual fight about it. “You’ll need to drink more water. Slowly, though. I’ll see if I can find a packet of electrolytes to add to it, too, that might help a bit. And then I’ll finish the tent and we can get you out of the sun.”
Garak nodded weakly, as Julian pressed the water bottle into his hand. He took little sips, as instructed, while Julian bustled about setting up camp and fussing over Garak at intervals. Garak felt foolish for thinking he could handle the elements. He’d either grown unforgivably weak in his years on the station or he’d simply forgotten what it was like in an environment like this and had overestimated his ability.
After what felt like a long time of doing nothing but diligently following doctor’s orders, the worst of it did begin to ebb. He even managed to force down a ration bar, at Julian’s behest, while Julian was putting the finishing touches on the tent.
When it was all set up, Julian ushered him into the tent, then followed him in. Garak was a little surprised by that. He’d expected Julian to start setting up the second tent next.
It barely felt any cooler inside. They left the flaps open in hopes of a breeze to make it less of an oven. Still, the reprieve from the direct sunlight was undeniably welcome.
Julian took another scan of Garak with the medical tricorder and studied the results.
“You’re doing great, Garak! You seem well on your way to recovery, and as the sun goes down it should start cooling off to a more comfortable temperature soon…” His brow furrowed. “Hmm, the temperature may then get uncomfortable in the other direction at night. But I suppose we’ll deal with that later. I think for now you should try to get a bit of rest.”
As he spoke, Julian was already pulling a sleeping bag out of one of the packs and spreading it out for him.
“You’ll get no argument from me.” Garak, still feeling utterly drained, curled up on top of the sleeping bag once it was ready. Garak laid on his side looking up at Julian, whose long legs splayed out across the floor of the tent.
“Mmm, and that’s one way I can tell you’re out of sorts. Lack of argumentativeness is a symptom not to be taken lightly for you, Garak,” he teased. “But some rest should get you back into fine arguing form.”
“Good. I’d hate to deprive you of such a thing for long.”
Julian grinned. “I don’t know how I’d survive,” he said sarcastically and yet so fondly that Garak’s heart began pounding in his throat.
Garak’s lingering delirium and the beauty of Julian’s smile conspired to make him blurt out, “It’s good to see you smile again.”
“Oh?”
“I’ve been worried about you lately, but this trip… I have no idea what could have possibly lifted your spirits in this horrid wasteland, but whatever it is, I’m glad.”
Julian grew a little bit somber then.
“I suppose a big part of it is that it’s nice to have an excuse not to think about the war, for just a little while. When we’re in the midst of things, I feel like I’m carrying the weight of the entire war on my back. Always trying to figure out how we could win against impossible odds, or at least make it out alive. Always thinking about the people I couldn’t save—or worse, the ones who I maybe could have saved if I’d just done something differently. But right now…” He shrugged. “There’s absolutely nothing we can do except try to survive ourselves. And that’s freeing, I suppose, in a way.”
“I see. Nothing like a smaller crisis to distract from the much broader, vaguer one.”
“Exactly,” he said emphatically, like he was relieved that Garak had understood him.
Then a slight smile crept back onto his face. “And besides, I’m here with you.”
“Ah yes. ‘Misery loves company.’” Garak recited the human expression, recalling their recent time in the Dominion prison together. “I’m glad that you didn’t get stranded here alone.”
“Well, yes, but…” Julian bit his lip. “It would be a bit more accurate to say that misery loves this company in particular.”
Garak’s eyes widened.
“Oh, don’t look at me like that, I know you made sure that we got assigned to this mission together. I know you missed me, too.”
“Of course I did. Hardly anyone on Starbase 375 has read The Never-Ending Sacrifice.”
“Am I really the only one willing to indulge you?”
“That’s right. You spoil me.”
Julian laughed and then sighed. “I wish that it hadn’t taken a shuttle crash for us to get to spend time together. But these days I’ll have to take what I can get.”
After a moment of consideration, Garak felt he ought to get back on even ground with him. He  pushed himself back up to a seated position. Once certain he wasn’t having another spell of dizziness from the change in position, he reached out for Julian’s hand.
Their fingers slipped together so familiarly.
“What else might you take,” Garak asked, “if you could get it?” He rubbed his thumb delicately over the back of Julian’s hand.
“Anything.”
Julian lifted their joined hands and pressed his lips to Garak’s knuckles, lingering long enough that Garak’s breath caught in his throat.
“Everything,” Julian breathed, looking at him from under long lashes.
The heat burning in Garak now had nothing to do with the weather. Their lips met and then their bodies met, and soon enough hands were slipping across sweaty skin to explore the last of each other’s secrets.
~
They were sound asleep, tangled in each other’s arms, when the Defiant arrived to rescue them the next morning.

So my brain is mostly Garashir and has been for a week.
And it only just now dropped a bodyswap plot in my lap (probably because it's one of my other favourite tropes). I'm almost sure the only bodyswap Trek episode was the one from TOS, and if there's a fic revolving around Garashir with this premise I would like a link thanks.
But how my brain imagines this roughly going is:
Sometime during canon, probably post Julian being replaced by the Changeling and subsequently retrieved (but please understand this is meant to be a light-hearted incident), there's an incident and Garak and Julian end up in each others' bodies.
And decide they will have to pretend to be each other until they can work out how to fix this, because everyone else on the station has enough to deal with, and they both have excellent memories and have been watching each other do their thing for years, it'll be fine!
Except:
Garak can get most of the mannerisms and accent down, but can't be as casual as Julian is to save his life. Also he's not a doctor.
Julian is trying his best, but his impression of Garak is painfully OTT.
Odo's suss on them immediately. Miles freaks out and thinks Julian's been Changelinged again, or something. Possibly culminating in Julian's body getting decked. Julian-in-Garak hears about this, panics, and goes to find Miles and explain.
He finds Dax first, who believes him immediately because it tracks with everything she's been hearing today. They do find Miles but he doesn't believe Julian's story, at least at first.
Garak also breaks character because concussion/the stress of being human/ill-equipped for the situation and not wanting to admit it, and the minute they're in proximity, which Dax helps arrange, the two of them start arguing. Their back-and-forth is unmistakable and Miles finally accepts the story.
Dax gets Kira and Sisko, despite both Julian and Garak's protests. Nerys finds the situation hilarious for some reason. Ben is on three hours of sleep and just looks at them, sighs, and goes, "Explain."
They explain the situation to the best of their abilities and the situation does get resolved, and does end with Garashir sex.
Optionally, the whole thing is orchestrated by the Prophets because they are sick and tired of them not admitting they're into each other. Seriously, the sexual tension is so potent they can feel it on their plane, and time is not linear. (Look I know they don't do that much interference in canon but this is a fanfic and a comedic one at that!) In this version, the plot is resolved by them doing said confession, at which point they snap back into their own bodies.
I don't have details and unless I get them, I'm not writing this, but I had to get it out of my brain 'cause I'm sleepy and didn't want to lose any bits before it was recorded.

Quodo in Every Episode kick-off
In addition to the summer event I will be running, I am also starting a new Quodo watch-through and fanwork discussion event (based on this Garashir challenge): Quodo in Every Episode is a collective challenge to find or write a Quodo fic for every episode of DS9. In particular, each week we'll be discussing a random DS9 episode and trying to round up any existing Quodo fics based around that episode, and throwing around fic ideas if none exist. If you're interested in joining the discussions, check it out!
Our first episode discussion is up -- we're talking about episode 2x11 "Rivals" this week!
This event will be run on Dreamwidth and Discord (sorry, no Tumblr because Tumblr is not great for the discussion/chat/link round-up type activity needed for this challenge). The Dreamwidth posts allow guest/anonymous commenting, though, so you don't need to have an account in order to chime in. Hope you join us!
(And yes, I know I'm running a lot of Quodo events lately, but this one should be pretty chill and easy -- mainly just a very slow group rewatch to provide an excuse to chatter about DS9 and Quodo.)

Picking up on my Garashir New Wave series afer more than a year, I take Depeche Mode's "Walking In My Shoes" as the inspiration of another short fic. Not quite a drabble, but with fairly minimal plot. They talk a lot.
Setting & Time: DS9, following episode "Broken Link." Garak is in the brig.
Summary: After attempting genocide of the Founders, Garak finds himself in DS9's brig. He has no idea how he's going to manage six months of boredom without going mad. Until one day he has a somewhat unexpected visitor. Would the doctor berate him or, as he sometimes did unknowingly, flirt?
Excerpt: After the rage he'd felt in the face of the female Changeling's threat – wiping out the Cardassian race – he couldn't miss the opportunity for preemptive revenge. So, when he'd seen the weapons arrays were unattended and Odo, Sisko, and the doctor were on the surface, he'd seized the moment and attempted to rid the universe of as many of the loathsome shapeshifters as possible. Alas Worf had to show up at just the wrong moment and thwart his plans. Damn that Klingon.
And of course I have to share the video!

Wisteria-lodge and I have posted the second chapter of our Garashir fic  First, Do No Harm. Here’s the tumblr post with the link to it if that seems like something you’d be interested in.  It’s set after the episode The Quickening.  We have the entire thing written and are posting as we edit.

so i’ve had this fic idea swirl around in my head for the past few days and i don’t think i’m actually gonna write it but here’s the cliff notes version…oh and it’s a garashir fic btw…
it’s kinda going off this head cannon that i have where garak and bashir dated off and on for 3ish years and broke up for good a few months before they had to abandon the station to dominion control
i think we can kinda see that in early season 6, there’s still slight flirty banter but the vibe is off/different and then as they all come back to retake the station there’s a definite coldness coming from julian as he talks to garak
(i also think it’s funny that it takes julian a full year to even be interested in someone again)
but anyway…season 7 happens, sisko goes to live in the wormhole, miles and kieko go back to earth, kira is taking over command of the station, odo leaves to join the great link and suddenly its just julian and ezri and in a weird way julian feels left behind
but the thing that feels like more of a gut punch then any of his other friends leaving (i mean they are starfleet, julian knows crews can serve together for years and then be reassigned or people leave, that’s normal) is garak leaving the station to help rebuild cardassia
everything in him wants to follow garak onto that transport instead of waving lamely as he gets left behind
julian then becomes distant, going through the motions of his life without purpose
and finally he decides to burn his whole goddamn life to the ground because he just can’t take it anymore
he breaks up with ezri, leaves starfleet, and finds passage to cardassia. everyone thinks he’s gone crazy but this is the most rational julian has felt since accepting his original ds9 posting
then late one night garak hears a knock at his door
and who’s standing there in civilian clothing with two bags, one over each shoulder? yep! it’s julian!
garak is surprised but hides it well (obviously) and julian doesn’t even wait to be invited in, he just walks in and puts his bags down
garak can barely get out, it’s nice to see you doctor, before julian launches into a prepared speech about he’s waited long enough and he wants to be with garak and nothing else in the universe matters to him and he’s here to help in anyway he can to rebuild cardassia
garak’s only reaction is to quirk a little smug smile and ask where julian plans on staying
julian looks around garak’s home and says i think there’s enough room here for the both of us
garak smiles wider and says i think there probably is
and they live happily ever after…get married…have kids…miles even comes to cardassia to visit
fin
or something like that

Fic authors self-rec! ✨ When you get this, reply with your favorite five fics that you’ve written, then pass on to at least five other writers (if you would like to)!
Thanks for the ask! It's taken me 3 days to answer because I've had job stuff to do, and it's also hard to pick my 5 favorite fics when I've been in several different fandoms in the past few years... In one sense, all my favorites right now are the ones in my current fandom -- they're the only ones I'm still emotionally invested in -- but I'll also pick out what I think are my best ones from my previous fandoms. In order from earliest to latest:
1. The Third Time. Fandom: MCU (Loki & Thor, Gen), rating: T, warning: Major Character Death. Summary: "It appears that, as they say on Midgard, the third time is a charm, eh, brother?" After the battle of Ragnarok, as Loki is dying -- for the third and final time -- he and Thor have a last conversation. The phrase "cats all the way down" is uttered, oddly enough.
This is the first fic I posted on AO3 back in 2015, and I still think it's one of my best-written. People also keep finding it and leaving nice comments, which is validating.
2. The Tree of Knowledge. Fandom: MCU (Thor/Loki), rating: E. Summary: "Loki kissed me. What in Hel was that about? was the first thought that entered Thor’s mind when he woke up. And I kissed him back." The day after Loki and Thor got stoned together and Loki kissed Thor -- purportedly just to prove a philosophical point -- Thor looks for an explanation from his evasive brother, and comes to realize that his own feelings for Loki are not what he had thought they were.
The second installment and "getting together" fic in the first of my long-running ship fic series (I guess I do this for my ship in every fandom?), Whatever is done from love. Gratuitous Nietzsche quotes are also part of my pattern.
3. The Hypothetico-Deductive Method. Fandom: Avatar: The Last Airbender (Aang/Katara/Zuko), rating: T. Summary: Uncle Zuko is visiting Air Temple Island, and 15-year-old Kya begins to suspect that Something is Going On between him and her parents, Aang and Katara. Tenzin is skeptical; Bumi is amused; and Kya decides to investigate and gather conclusive evidence that her suspicions are correct. Awkwardness, uncomfortable conversations, and amateur spy shenanigans ensue.
I think this is the best one from my relatively brief but strangely productive stint in Avatar: The Last Airbender fandom, which mostly happened while I was brain-foggy post-Covid in 2020. (I couldn't focus on reading or writing philosophy, I could barely even watch TV without having to rewind a lot because my attention kept wandering, but I was writing fic really fast.) As usual, it's part of my big interconnected series, The Three-Body Problem, but it can be read on its own.
4. Had we but world enough, and time. Fandom: Star Trek: Deep Space Nine (Garak/Bashir), rating: E. Summary: After attempting to destroy the Founders' homeworld in "Broken Link," Garak has been sentenced to six months in a holding cell on Deep Space 9. Julian continues visiting for their weekly lunch, and they are allowed a picnic in a holosuite during the hour that Garak is allotted for daily exercise. They get some (unauthorized) exercise, and Julian says something he's been meaning to say.
Not the first fic I wrote in my current ship series, The Spy Who Came In from the Cold, but the first big one, and still, I think, the best-written.
5. Stepping into the Rubicon. Fandom: DS9 (Garashir), rating: T. Summary: On the way back from the Gamma Quadrant following Enabran Tain's disastrous attempt to destroy the Founders' homeworld, Garak comes to Doctor Bashir's quarters complaining of a headache and ends up spending the night.
Another "getting together" fic as an early installment in an extended series. No Nietzsche quotes in this particular fic, but there is poetry.

more garashir cuddles for you on this fine Fic Feature Friday
and your arms were warm, and that's all i remember by edosian is a soft hurt/comfort pre-relationship Garashir oneshot set between the episodes In Purgatory's Shadow and By Inferno's Light featuring that classic trope of There Was Only One Bed (At Least, Only One That Was Not Very Recently Your Shitty Father's Deathbed). Garak and Julian share a cot and try not to think about how good it feels to be pressed against each other and meanwhile attempt to talk about their daddy issues. <3
(Btw, anyone can do Fic Feature Friday! The only rule is that the fic you link to must be over a year old.)

Made up fic title ask game: "If I had a nickel..."
Oh this is difficult!
It has to be focused on something that happens over and over again (or has already happened over and over again before the start of the fic). Like, Garashir replimat lunches, arguments over books… Oh, maybe Garak quoting from Earth literature to aliens who don’t know what he’s talking about? Because he does that twice in canon, he quotes Shakespeare in The Die is Cast (and name drops that he knows that from Julian) and he quotes Keats in Broken Link. So either focus on those two instances from Tain and Odo POV respectively, or make up a few other instances of Garak referencing Earth books he’s read with Julian to people not in the know who then have to say “huh?” to which Garak will smugly reply “oh it’s just something I read with my dear Doctor, Julian Bashir 🥰💖💕” And maybe it ends with Julian getting wind of all this and confronting Garak about it in order to have the conversation about what they are to each other <3

10. Top three favourite fic tropes.
30. Describe a fic that almost happened, but then it didn't.
36. How do you come up with fic titles? What's the one you're most proud of?
10. ouhhh okay so it heavily depends on the fandom that I read for, because there is one Harry Potter fic that does kid fic incredibly well, but I never read it anywhere else. For Supernatural there's so much good fix-it fic. Sometimes a good AU. With my Sci Fi shows like Star Trek or Stargate I never read AUs bc I love the world already, so some of the more classical tags come into play.
Generally I love "there was only one bed", especially for characters with a prickly exterior that are then forced to be confronted with vulnerability. When written well, the tension in "enemies to lovers" can unravel me into fabric weave. But I also do like me a "fuck or die" fic for some plain smut purposes ^^
30. Haha that's such an interesting question because I am grand at getting fic ideas and then not finishing them. I don't stop working on them though, it only takes me... years.
I think one fic idea that's waaaaaaaaaaay on the back burner for now (because McDex and Garashir have taken over my brainworms) is a very niche thing: Winnetou and Old Shatterhand, where Old Shatterhand needs to come home to Germany for plot reasons (uncle dies) and Winnetou joins him.
He's then confronted a) with the racism of his family towards the man he loves calls brother, b) with the loss of his faith as he sees Christianity being misused (love thy neighbor except if they're not cis het white or male presenting etc. especially seeing as this is set in the time it was written -> 1875 Germany under Bismark, Culture Fight between Church and State) and c) with the detachment he feels from what he used to call home. Germany feels cold and grey and dead after having lived with the Apaches for so long, the people are so detached from humanity and the joy of living. He realizes who his home is and that what he has been living the past two years with Winnetou was the best life he's ever lived; being loved and cherished and part of the tribe.
And after they kiss and confess their sweet sticky feelings for each other, he has to now balance that. And then live with it after returning to the Apaches ^^
36. Oh god the horror of fic titles. Back when I was way more active in publishing (admittedly horribly cliche and bad) fanfic, I did a mix of Title That Sounds like A Lot Of Feels ™ (think: "it's always been you" that kinda thing), Song Lyrics or tangents to the fandom I was writing for (which were mostly anime fandom back then).
So the one I'm most proud of... oh god. I think it might probably be "Dreams in the rain" for the anime movie Garden of Words by Makoto Shinkai. Again, it's horribly cliché but it links to the main character's hope and it rains so much in this movie.
