I need Steve Harrington angst in season five more than life itself. Joe Keery would put his ALL into a breakdown and I know it, the duffers just need to give it to him

the reason the duffers keep joyce and steve from interacting is because if joyce knew about what happened to steve / what he went through / how he saved jonathan and nancy / how he was beaten and tortured yet continued to protect the kids every time and no one took care of him or asked if he was okay she would end up lecturing everyone while comforting steve
(also thinking abt this inspired me to make these)

watch the duffle bags delete the shower scene because they know it was fruity as hell 🙃
on top of probably deleting every single scene that implies billy suffered abuse
i hate it here, get me out of here

no because i wanna talk about nancy and how she’s literally such an interesting character but the duffer brothers are fucking it up so much by repeatedly giving her romantic arcs with jonathan and steve.
like if you watch the first three seasons, almost all of nancy’s storylines are at least partially dependent or centered around steve and/or jonathan and her relationship with them. none of them are just about nancy, you know? the duffer brothers never really let her be her own character outside of her relationships with them.
and what gets me about that is like. nancy was raised in a family that was the pinnacle of the american dream white picket fence type of family. she even says that to jonathan in season one. and it wasn’t until all of the upside down stuff happened that she ever started to be someone outside of that reality. she was following the same path as her parents up until that point.
but she never actually got the proper chance to learn about herself and what she actually wants for her future because she kept being in relationships where she (albeit unintentionally) conformed to what the other person was looking for. which isn’t the fault of either person, that’s always been something that teenagers—especially teenagers with identity issues of some kind—have experienced in their relationships. there’s actually a lot of parallels to steve there—which absolutely contributed to how dysfunctional their relationship was—however the duffer brothers actually gave steve storylines where he was able to develop as an individual, unlike they did with nancy.
season four was really the only season that gave us storylines centered around nancy. ignoring the handful of times her relationships with steve and jonathan were brought up, nancy’s storylines in season four were actually about nancy—what she’s capable of, how she acts, literally who she is as an individual character. in previous seasons we didn’t really get to see a whole lot of nancy’s interactions with people without steve or jonathan as a buffer of some kind. that’s one of the things i loved so much about her scenes with robin—they weren’t really familiar with each other beforehand and we were able to see both of them outside of previously established relationship dynamics (a similar concept to eddie and steve’s relationship but that’s a whole other can of worms for so many reasons). nancy and robin didn’t have any history and we got to see them build that friendship throughout the season without any real influence by other characters. it was just robin and nancy at the core of their characters—which gave us nancy more unmasked and unfiltered than she is with jonathan or steve.
the relationships between nancy and steve and nancy and jonathan were rooted in who nancy was when she had the least direction in her life, the least self-awareness and was the least cognizant about her wants and desires—especially in her relationship with steve. neither pairing was able to truly move past that foundation and they almost clung to those initial versions of nancy from seasons one and two, keeping nancy from fully being able to separate herself from that version of her that doesn’t really exist anymore.
those relationships are actively keeping nancy from becoming her own person. she isn’t able to delve into who she is as an individual because she’s still chained to those relationships—and that’s fully the fault of the duffer brothers. they haven’t let her truly exist as an individual, she’s always been shackled by other people and until the duffer brothers give her the chance to be free from that and look inwardly and introspect on herself as a person, her character will never reach her full potential in the series or have a fitting end to her character arc.

One of the most upsetting things about Eddie's death is that we never got to see him interact with Wayne.

I have not watched (and i probably won't watch) stranger things.
Well yeah, i watched s1 and like two episodes of s2, but watching the rest? I couldn't care less.
I very much prefer sticking to my fanfics, because the authors actually research stuff and build the characters very well.
Y'all want an example? Steve's head trauma
I know for a fact that in the show it wasn't addressed, but you want to know who actually addresses it? The fandom authors! They make him have, at least, really bad migraines, plus i saw people who portrayed the symptoms really well and when i read them i was so happy (LOOK AT THIS)
And that would be enough for me in the show! Something that actually shows that the duffers care and remember about his head trauma over the seasons
Oh and let's not forget their trauma as a whole
The only people (for what I've seen) that they actually cared about enough to show a little bit of their trauma were will and el (and maybe max, but like, just a tiny bit), and it wasn't even addressed well?? Where are the panic attacks, tears, flashbacks, PTSD..??? HM??
Aside from vecna's visions, this wasn't in the fuCKING SHOW
Plus, they could have built Eddie's character way better, maybe introduce him a little earlier, give him more scenes where we see him living normally, like we do (not a lot, but we still do) with the other characters
You want me to describe his character from what i got? His WHOLE character, was :
Metal, drugs, dnd, being a coward and then not running away (end of his arc)
That's his character
And maybe you'll say "but he has been there just for a season!! They didn't have much time to introduce him and blah blah blah" alright then let's talk about Steve
Steve, who has been there for years
Steve who, apparently, doesn't have interests outside of his hair, girls and..
And? Can you add anything? NO YOU CAN'T! That's what I'm talking about! They made Steve that one dumb guy they needed to make the viewer laugh, when he could have been a wonderfully built character with an even more fantastic redemption arc from King Steve
I'll just end this here, because if i continue I'm afraid i won't stop rambling (because i have a lot to talk about ((coughs BILLY HARGROVE AND HIS ROLE IN THE PLOT)))

Why are these the top tags when you write ‘the duffers’!?
Don’t get me wrong it makes so much sense, but it just says more about st than like the actual show

since people agree with me on my last post; Reasons Steve Harrington needs to have a breakdown in season 5 and why the duffers deserve to give Joe Keery the scene(s) he would SERVE: a small but crucial thread
- mr man got drugged and heavily beat up by fucking RUSSIANS and you just expected him to never talk about it again? Or have literally not ONE single person ask if he was okay?? My boy was on the floor unconscious while Robin pleaded for them to do something cause she thought her new friend was dead and you expect the two of them to pretend that wasn’t traumatic asf?? - there was definitely trauma behind his “king Steve” days and why he became king Steve but I won’t get into that right now - everyone knows the codes in his parental trauma, c’mon duffers let’s bring it to light. I need to see Steve just finally break over not having a family to go home to. Like - after star court when he’s watching all his friends hug their family and he’s just standing there with a sad smile?? Yeah no, we should’ve seen him go home alone and break down in his empty and quiet living room. Or even let him talk about it. Someone needs to ask something and he finally just spills what everyone already knew and THEN some. Childhood trauma he’s repressed that one day finally comes to life. His dad was a, and I quote, “grade a asshole” and he was more scared of his FATHER finding out about the whole barb situation than the police and that’s not a red flag to anyone as to who his father is and why he’s scared?? I could go on and on about Steve Harrington’s bad parents and how it’s affected him and the headcanons I have that go along with it - We all already know Stevie boy is fruity as they come, let’s see a scene where he has a bi panic/breakdown. (Not to diminish Robin’s scene in the slightest), but we need a bathroom scene but vice verca roles now. We know the duffers would never outright talk about Steve’s sexuality because they’re cowards and like to make people suffer, but the least they could do is hint at it and give the people what they want and the real ones will understand. He needs to have a bathroom scene and I said what I said (again though, not to forget about Robin’s scene or outshine her scene in anyway). - Let’s talk about how he’s only 19 (was only 17-18 when the whole upside down shit started) and he’s the only one who doesn’t get to show the tole it’s taking on him because he’s the “oldest” of the group? No thanks. He needs to be at his LIMIT. I need to see him BREAK over exhaustion and fear. I need him to break down in front of EVERYONE (well, the people who matter) and I need the others to see the emotional and physical tole this has taken on him that they’ve just completely missed. I need him on the floor SOBBING and blubbering and heaving out how “I have trauma too!” And how “he’s alone!” - Now, let’s talk about how Steve was supposed to die in season one but they liked Joe Keery’s Performance so much they decided to keep his character and play around with it. It just goes to show how great Joe is and why he would put his entire ass into giving us the best and saddest Steve Harrington breakdown of all time because I just know Joe is also asking him, was my character born without tear ducts cause what is this?? First statement being said, I have a strong suspicion he’ll die in the next season and if he does, all I have to say is, that was NOT the breakdown we wanted duffers

Ok listen I certainly don’t HATE the short look on Mike. I think it’ll look nice on him, show his age more. But gosh I wish they let him grow out his hair like this for s5.

Thinking about him exploring the upside down with a bandana over his nose and mouth and a ponytail holding his long hair up is so good
