Stephen has never liked witches and their craft, but something he has always envied them was the ability to create a magical bond with animals. He was about to give up on finding a familiar, when he came across an injured, green-eyed barn owl with a strong magical trace. While taking care of it, Stephen discovered that, while the creature was truly a little shit, the compatibility between their magic was extraordinary! Therefore the sorcerer decided to take the owl as familiar, unaware that the animal was actually the witch Loki, trapped in that body because of a little mistake...

Donny:

Disney Princess. The obvious one. Rooting from the time when Sam used to bully him and mean it in a bad one but has long since turned into a term of endearment because Donny is a kick-ass Disney princess.

Dark Sea. Because legacy of Hades and Poseidon. Given to him by Sander

Sam:

Principe di Guerra (Italian: War Prince), given by Donny as a compliment to the Disney Princess that Donny got from Sam

Sweetheart, originally given to him by Derek for the soft, sweet heart he hides behind the snark, but adapted by the boyfriends too

Sander:

mio eroe (Italian: my hero), given by Donny of course and also as a compliment to Donny’s princess nickname

imbroglione | cleasaí (Italian | Irish; Trickster), the obvious one considering he’s a legacy of Hermes. Given by Donny and Sam respectively

Sandy. Trend-only nickname that Sander kind of hates, but only allows Trend to call him

Trend:

Khan. Because Trend is hung like a horse. Khan is the horse from Trend’s favorite Disney movie Mulan

barbagianni (Italian: barn owl), given by Donny due to Trend being a son of Athena, so owl theme

Ciao Liz, this is a difficult question to answer because what makes a word funny? It’s not like there’s something you find in a dictionary and BAM, now you get the giggles and that’s the rest of your day over and done for. On the other hand, we’ve got plenty of words which are funny or satisfying to taste inside our mouths - that’s something Italian is good at. Off the top of my head, I like gongolare (it means to be happy about something, but often has a vibe of Schadenfreude as well - and, Gongolo is the Italian name of Disney dwarf Happy), carognaggine (a peculiar brand of dickishness), tubare (the cooing of pigeons and doves), infognarsi (from fogna, ‘sewer’ - literally ‘to insewer oneself’, ie to paint onself into a corner), barbagianni (’barn owl’ - this sounds like ‘beard John’ but actually used to mean ‘uncle John’, and who even knows), intrufolarsi (’to squeeze into a narrow space’ - from old verb grufolare or trufolare, no longer in use, which used to mean ‘look around like pigs do’, ie for food, pushing stuff around without care) and probably ciaspole should make the list, because it sounds like it should be a breakfast food and instead it means ‘snowshoes’.

Oh, and a personal favourite is the Disney translation of Lewis Carroll’s Caterpillar: Brucaliffo (from bruco - caterpillar and califfo - caliph; it’s likely they were trying to evoke a kind of Sindbad flavour with that one, and they got it in one).

you know what? this is so hard. like, sometime I hear words in my language that are just so weird and they make me laugh but if you ask me on the spot I can’t come up with a single one. so, I asked my friends for help and these are some of the funniest/weirdest words we managed to come up with:

barbagianni: (in English > barn owl) is the combination of two Italian words > barba (beard) and Gianni which is a common old Italian name. what makes this word funny is probably the weird combination of words lol

capezzolo: (in English > nipple) my friend couldn’t explain why this word was so funny to her, it just is

culatello: is the name of one of the most prized italian salumi and it’s a funny word because it reminds uf of the word “culo” which means “butt”

cuculo: (in English > cuckoo) it’s funny for the same reasons stated above lol

giuggiole: (in English: jujube) I don’t really know what’s so funny about this, I can’t explain it lmao
