Bianca Maria: would not become a goddess; joins the hunt before godly powers manifest (I headcanon that gods... find... their realms as like teens. Since Hades and the others got their realms after literally rolling the dice on them so it’s not something you’re inherently born with)

Hi sorry to bug you but I’m searching for one of your fics and can’t remember the name for the life of me. It had Percy and Nico as single fathers pining after each other but both thinking the other had a wife. Percy had Sam, Trend, and Derek, while Nico had Bianca Maria and Donny. It was from a pretty long time ago tho, thanks for taking the time to read this and write all your awesome fanfics!

Only fic I can think of that fits that would be Fated Family, but I have no recollection of them thinking the other is married. ^^

What would be the fatal flaws of some of your pjo next gen?? I kinda forgot that those fatal flaws were a thing but now im reminded my first reaction is to wonder about your next gen haha

Urgh. Don’t remind me that those are a thing. One of Riordan’s big missteps, in my opinion. It is so limiting in the characters’ individual personality and cuts into their agency with the “Well this isn’t something of yours, it’s a thing all kids of your godly parent do”. Cookie-cutter cheat-sheet for character design.

Not to mention it... doesn’t make a lot of sense. Poseidons’ kids’ fatal flaw is loyalty? Sure. Suuure, that’s why Ariadne is now married to Dionysus, because those Poseidon-kids are so loyal and would never abandon their lovers. Yep.

Sooo, yeah no. No fatal flaw. They individually have their weaknesses, but a weakness is a little different than something as overly dramatic as a fatal flaw.

For Derek, it’s his arrogance. For Donny, it’s his lack of self-esteem, even though he spents the whole story overcoming it slowly. For Sander, it’s that he thinks he has to be able to do everything.

Rereading “Written in the Stars”, because I actually figured a proper timeline out for it and gotta align the stuff I’ve written to fit it, makes me realize just how much I seem to be channeling my Nicercy Next Gen into them...

Mike Maguire is so much like Sander Rodriguez. The loyal, trustworthy, heroic, honest puppy, who loves so very fiercely and deeply. Even their dynamic to to their respective older sister is rather similar.

I gave Matt di Girasole a rather distinctively Donny di Angelo vibe. The slightly mischievous but kind-hearted, hard-working, head-strong but composed boy.

And with Jamie St. John, I kinda did it on purpose to let some Sam Raser bleed into it. The fierce, strong murder-kitten who is Very Soft on the inside though and is trying to deal with a trauma of the past. Also, Irish.

I mean, I’m only eight chapters into this story and I know that once the story grows and the characters grow more, they’ll distinct themselves more and more from the basis structure I took when first building them up. The same had happened with my next gen too, after all. At the beginning of "Chasing Fireflies”, they were vastly different characters than who they had come into after the plot thickened and they got to evolve and I got to explore their respective dynamics more. (Seriously, Sam did such a 180° in CF, it really did give me whiplash...)

But yeah... it kinda reads like Sander/Donny/Sam a bit lot... *frowns at self*

Sander Rodriguez: Steve Rogers. Yeeeah, definitely. Definitely not MCU. More like AA. You know, the real Cap. That’s the kinda person Sander is too.

Sam Raser: Bucky Barnes. Sander’s trusted best friend, military training, gone through some trauma that really changed him.

Trend Austin: Stephen Strange. Character-wise. Not so much the powers, though… genius doctor? Yeah. That also applies.

Derek Rhys: LOKI LOKI LOKI. Definitely Loki. So much Loki all up in that Derek.

Marshall Mikaelson: Bruce Banner? Maybe? The calm, quiet voice of reason, brilliant mind, but still mostly asked for to be the muscles…

Sara Mers: I find her hard. She’s a bit a combination of Darcy Lewis and Pepper Potts, maybe. The unassuming redhead who really hands a villain his ass when prompted but is otherwise in nature more a Darcy.

Nico Zhang: The child of Clint Barton and Tony Stark. Genius tinkerer who talks too much, mischievous archer who also talks too much.

Herc Grace: Now, he’d be Thor. Not just because of the lightning-powers, but also this… son of the greatest Roman hero of their time, carrying the burden of trying to live up to that vs being the son of King Odin. Generally gentle and friendly in nature and a big softy at heart though!

Thea Chase: Jane Foster. She’s more for the genius part than the actual fighting, but when push comes to shove, she can go all out Lady Thor on your ass too.

Donny di Angelo: HE IS THE HARDEST. I think maybe Vision? “Created” with the best of them all - you know, having both Nico’s and Percy’s powers but also the blessing of Persephone. Not very good at the whole social stuff. Super powerful, but also inherently good. Honestly. It’s a far reach, but I can’t find another Marvel character who’d fit Donny…

Bianca Maria di Angelo: Natasha Romanova, yeah. This one came easy.

Cally Rodriguez: Carol Danvers, definitely. Also an easy call, really.

Found this old sketch (...two years or so? Maybe three?) and figured that since interest in my next gen is here, some of you might enjoy the sketch.

Upper left corner is Jack di Angelo together with his bunny Poker.

Next to him, Sam Raser with a rose he most likely got from Derek.

Lower low starts off with Eli Raser in his prom dress.

In the right corner, Donny di Angelo on a flower swing because why the heck not.

Aaand in the middle... Hazel Pandora di Angelo. About half an hour before her death. Yeah, those sketches were made when I was outlining the story of her death. She has really wild dark curls and the scars over her eye make her heterochromia... uh... pop even more...? *winces* And no, I never actually figured out a good angle about details of how her story ends, hence the me never having actually written it down. I know what’s gonna happen, roughly. But I’ve never really been happy with the details. Scrapped and rewrote it about half a dozen times.

Sonny + mortals?-

*frowns* That’s a peculiar one.

They are mortal, in the sense that they can die - never really understood why PJatO terminology calls the muggle/mundie people mortals considering demigods are just as mortal - but Donny in particular is very aware of that mortality. After all, he has regular contact with his immortal grandparents.

Sander, he sometimes envies the regular mortals. The ones without sight. He wonders what it’d be like to live a normal life without the constant danger of dying. A life where their sisters wouldn’t have joined an immortal hunting party.

Mainly though, Sander loves being a hero and protecting the innocent.

Chocolate or flowers? Oh, both. Nico loves to romance his Percy. Blue roses everywhere. I mean, it is the anniversary of their engagement.

Who does the grand gestures, who prefers subtle affection? They both like grand gestures. They kinda try to best each other and see it as a competition. All the flowers, all the chocolates, a trip somewhere, expensive food, kinky sex. One always has a surprise up their sleeve.

Do they go out, or stay in for a cozy date? Both. First cozy morning together, then going out for a date and dinner and then returning home for the, ah, climax of the day.

Most memorable Valentine’s Day? Their engagement, definitely. Visiting a literal fairy tale castle and then proposing.

Valentine’s Day married/as a family? It’s a mess. I mean, they literally have seven children. It becomes harder sneaking out because little Jackson loves giving them the puppy-eyes that guilt-trip them into family days. But that’s just life at the di Angelos. Family cuddles in the morning, Theseus making pancakes for the whole family and then, mostly, the older kids have mercy on their parents and distract Jackie so Percy and Nico can get some alone-time

I really miss the nicercy next gen stuff, everyone just kinda stopped asking about it during ask games it seems which sucks because i love it SO MUCH!!!

Mh, me too. But then again, I do get fewer asks during the ask games in general so it figures that the next gen stuff would go back too. Di Angelo Family Fun! 💙 🖤

Percy and Nico with their children! Because after I drew Sander Rodriguez yesterday, I felt like drawing Donny di Angelo. And Donny insisted that his family had to also be in the picture.

“...You put our son into a kitten costume, Percy?”, asked Nico skeptically.

Percy smiled while lifting Donny up into the air. The little boy giggled and spread his arms wide, looking absolutely adorable in the kitten costume Percy had bought him.

“Yes. I did. Look at him. He’s adorable”, defended Percy. “Besides, you put a tiara on our daughter, so we’re even.”

Bianca Maria on Nico’s back chose that moment to tug on her papà’s curls, making Nico wince. “So are we playing puss in boots then? We have a beautiful little princess and... a kitten?”

Percy just smiled brightly at Nico, in that way that still made his heart beat faster and made Nico marvel at the fact that he had married this beautiful man. After all the wars and pain, he had gotten this happy, beautiful family.

Piper: *rolling her eyes* Honestly, I appreciate that Luke realized the ways of the Aphrodite Cabin were wrong and that true love conquers it all.

Annabeth: *smiles and kisses her wife’s cheek* Beautifully said.

Matt: *wiggles his nose* I dunno. But if Luke marries Jack’s big brother, then Jack and I are alike… related, or something right?

Jack: *enthusiastically* YES! And Thess will be a pretty pride!

Silly: It’s bride, not pride.

Jack: *super confused* …But he’ll be super proud, so pride, right?

Jimmy: Also, Thess is a boy, so he’ll be the groom.

Jack: *thoughtfully* He’s always super well-groomed. That’s right. *nods*

Percy Junior: It’s weird. But… they’re… happy. I just… I want Thess happy. That’s the important part. And he is. And if Luke does anything to break my twin’s heart, I’ll help dad bury the body.

Nico: My pride and joy and favorite daughter.

Bianca Maria & Silly: Hey.

Nico: …All my favorite daughters. *hugging his daughters*

Jack: *quivering lower lip*

Nico: …All my favorite children *tries to hug all his kids*

Fred: *not even looking up from his book* I don’t really care. My brother’s dating. Big deal.

Thea: *slapping her baby brother’s arm* It is a big deal.

Fred: *rolling his eyes* I’ve been dating Carry for like months before Luke started super awkwardly courting Thess. And I’m the legacy of Athena, he’s the legacy of Aphrodite. It’s kinda embarrassing, really.
