GUESS WHO CAUGHT COVID! Yeah it’s me. I caught it over the weekend. Thankfully the symptoms have been light, so I’ve been expecting I can still do stream tomorrow, but my throat has taken a turn for the worse, and my anxiety has gone up with it, so we’ll have to see. Worse comes to worse, I will let ya’all know tomorrow morning if I have to postpone it.

How many WIPs do you have? I have 83 active WIPs on the computer, another 12-15 in notebooks, and two recipe box containers filled with ideas on index cards. And about 40 index cards scattered about my room and office with yet more ideas.

As I told a friend today: I'm fortunately the sort of mind that can work on multiple stories at once, including being able to set one down for over a year and then pick it up like nothing stopped.

They all eventually get written. It's getting the ideas to stop coming that's hard.

goes full nurse on you

when he hears that your not feeling well, he immediately ushers you off to bed. you don't need to worry about any of your obligations, as he'll make sure to take care of them to the best of his ability

if you're sick with the flu, then he's making sure that your keeping food and fluids down

if you got a simple head cold, then he's not nearly as worried which is saying a lot

he really loves you and doesn't like the fact that theres only so much he can do to help you feel better

he gets really scared if your unable to keep stuff in your stomach

i feel like you'd be pretty good friends with ayato and ayaka, so they'd be more than willing to contact some of the best doctors on your behalf for some of the best medicine they can afford

ngl, he's super worried about you

if he notices your uncomfortable, tired, or really anything other than rested and comfortable, he'll try his best to help you out

do you need more pillows or blankets? are you hungry or thirsty? are you bored, perhaps??

makes you the best meal when your finally feeling better

probably takes you out for an evening walk as well, since you haven't really been moving while sick

definitely hovers around you a lot more for about a week or 2 after you've recovered before he eases up

he knows that getting sick is just part of life, and that it happens to everyone, but that doesn't mean he won't still worry about you

Kamisato Ayato

ngl, i feel like his attention is already split between all his responsibilities that he doesn't notice you feeling unwell at first

once he does notice, however, than he's ushering you off to rest for the time being

he doesn't want to see you trying to do any work until your feeling well

you two have been living together as a way to make it easier for him to protect you from any attempts at people trying to kidnap you for ransom

has the staff bring you anything you may need on days where he's particularly busy

he's not the best cook, either, so he has his staff cook the best foods for someone whos feeling under the weather

spends any of his spare time in your room with you

some times he'll even bring his paperwork in with him so that he can spend time with you but also get some stuff done hint: hes too worried about you to work on his stuff

your condition worsens into the flu before you start getting better

by the time your feeling better, you've pretty much got a mountain of blankets and pillows on your bed

he asks you what you want to eat a day or so after confirming with a doctor that you are officially recovered

Arataki Itto

you were taking a couple days off from taking commissions from the adventurers guild, deciding to spend it with your boyfriend arataki itto

the two of you were running around the whole of inazuma, collecting lavender melons and catching onikabuto beetles

you and itto had gotten caught in a downpour, having to book it across the beach to some makeshift and rather run down huts

why the two of you chose to come to koseki village, you'll never know

but, after the downpour passes, you two head back to your waverider and then back to inazuma city

wet clothes forgotten about due to the rest of the arataki gang having gotten into a little trouble with the guards, you proceed to talk to them while kuki shinobu chews out everyone

eventually, like. close to sundown, your able to make your way to your home to change out of your still damp clothes

you catch a cold the day after, having full body shivers

with practically no word from you for a few days has the whole gang worried for your wellbeing, and they practically break into your home

when you wake up, all bleary eyed from sleep, your met with the group surrounding your bed

after explaining you just have the chills, and are fine for the most part, the most of them leave to go do what they do most days

however, itto sticks around, keeping you company

he does also apologize for the fact that you got caught in the rain a few days ago

you immediately tell him that he has nothing to be sorry about, unless he can control the weather and intentionally made it downpour on the two of you

you then get out of bed, giving him a hug, and then meander off to your kitchen, asking him to help you make some soup

Wanderer

whenever you start being sucked down by depression, you tend to push yourself to work harder

and, often times, this leads you to neglecting your own needs

he may not be the best boyfriend, what with having to sort through his past and his feelings, but he does try his best

he's also hella observant. while he may not comment on everything, hardly anything is able to get past him

so, he makes a mental note every time you add another commission onto your growing list of commissions

he starts to grow annoyed with you when, instead of stopping to take a break for lunch that, you decide to just eat lunch on the way to your next commission

you don't really know what you did to upset him, but kuni seems to start making what your brain interprets as snide comments towards you sometimes

it isn't until your body decides to rebel against you and you fall sick when you realize that he wasn't really making snide comments towards you, thats just how your tired brain interpreted it

he was trying to warn you about pushing yourself to do more than what your body could handle

kuni doesn't really let you do anything until your recovered from being sick

he puts you back on a proper schedule, making sure you get 3 meals a day, all easy on your stomach as to not make you feel worse than you likely already are

he also puts you on a proper sleep schedule, making sure you get between 8-10 hours of sleep a night

kuni's surprisingly nice while your sick. he knows how much more sensitive you are to his usual comments during times like these so he saves the lectures for when your back to feeling 100% better

its ok, tho. he's back to being mean, and more than makes up for it by basically dragging you all over sumeru and inazuma for ascension materials

Why did Oden called Buggy second son? And does that mean he also confirms them as brothers like marines did? First son, second son, sound brotherly to me but I am not fluent in English and know nothing on Japanese names. And is buggy younger? By month me he is, If so why he angry at that?

oden gives a number of characters nicknames of a sort, where he combines their name with a syllable or two of a typical japanese personal name. white-kichi, buggy-jiro, red-taro… the strawhats do something similar to blend in while they’re hiding out in wano, but as far as i can tell the endings they pick are fairly random, while i think oden assigns his with intention.

吉, kichi, means good luck or fortune—and i think that first meeting with whitebeard is something oden looks back on as being very fortunate. it changed his life, in several very big, very meaningful ways!

太郎 and 次郎, tarou and jirou, taken literally mean eldest son and next son. surrounded by grown men, two boys, and his own family, is it any wonder oden gives these kids nicknames that emphasize their youth and position them in roles similar to those of his own children? i don’t think it means anything more than that, though.

we don’t get confirmation of who is older or younger of shanks and buggy in the text… we’re told in extracanonical places like data books and sbs answers that shanks and buggy are the same age, and they were given birthdays by goroawase rules, which puts shanks’ birthday in march and buggy’s in august. so i guess buggy is younger by five months or so?

and i can’t say for sure why buggy is mad about being assigned second son when he is, in fact, the younger of the two of them—though you have to remember, buggy’s temper is rarely a logical beast—but i do have my pet theory.

i may have mentioned it before, idk, but i think buggy was a pretty competitive kid. if you’ve spent much time around that kind of kid, you’ll know they can turn anything and everything into a competition, even stuff they have no control over. who’s fastest? who’s tallest? who’s oldest? who got the biggest piece of meat at dinner? who got the biggest piece of cake for dessert? any way they can make themselves out to be the winner, the best, they’ll take it. and any way they appear to come in last, or even in second, will make them miserable.

now, i’m not here to get into the psychological underpinnings of why such kids are so competitive… but i’m given to understand there’s usually a bit of an inferiority complex involved, which certainly feels appropriate for buggy.

The Iceberg of Online Manga - A Reading List and Print Wishlist

We get a lot of manga in English, but that's only the tip of the iceberg. We get a hell of a lot of fan translated manga, but even that doesn't cover the whole thing. Separated by language and culture, the "untapped" potential of manga is foreign to a lot of readers, myself included really. But it's because of that deficiency that I decided to start taking a look at interesting fan translated titles to find series to recommend to publishers (and potentially read), so this is a sneak peek into my ever-growing list.

It's also an open request for people to share their favorites from the online manga sphere! As a single person it's impossible to find all the hidden gems, so being able to share titles between one another can really help widen horizons.

Sui and Neri of the Twilight Planet / Tasogare-Boshi No Sui To Neri

In a way, it reminds me of Girls Last Tour, a sunsetting planet that explores the oddity of a du in their life. Not quite as bittersweet or contemplative through what I've seen so far, but still very pretty and detailed. Lots and lots of hand drawn background art, and some really good layouts and paneling.

Poison Poison Forest Forest /Doku Doku Mori Mori

Mushroom on Mushroom violence, with a healthy side of grim visuals. It's got all the punch you could expect, and has a pretty novel approach to what you could consider a revenge story. Still early on so not a mountain of stuff to go off of, but at the very least what there is is good.

Captain Momo's Secret Base / Momo Kanchou No Himitsu Kichi

Tsuruta Kenji, the mastermind behind the art of Emanon (and other series), need I really say more? Regardless, with Tsuruta's art behind a lighthearted and curious series of a woman travelling through space alone with a cat, it's an undeniably enjoyable ride. Though do be warned, there is quite a bit of nudity featured as Momo prefers going commando to wearing clothes.

Every Every Night / Yona Yona Yona

An incredibly strikingly designed robin hood-esque story, Yona and her crew go on nightly missions to try and steal back art that was originally stolen by a corrupt police force. Creative, expressive, fun, and impressively detailed and unique, it's got quite a bit of potential!

The Feared Witch of Tasihou / Taishou Kitan Majo

Mixing the Western practices of Witchcraft with a Taishou-era Japan setting? A cultural combination that I'm truthfully surprised we haven't really seen yet. Add onto that the incredibly unique and sketch-like art style (and the wonderful color pages) and it's just a super easy pickup.

Welcome to Hotel Metsäpeura / Hotel Metsäpeura e Youkoso

A little hard to explain succinctly, but this is the story of a trio, two men and a teenager who they find standing outside their hotel in the Finnish wilderness in the middle of Winter. Characters with... interesting pasts, it's a story about providing not just a house, but a home to this young boy on his own.

The Ends of A Dream / Yume no Hashibashi

This is one that I'm really quite desperate to get in print. It's an emotional story of a pair as they retrace their forbidden romance through the years that have evaded them as they reach the end of their lives. A painfully beautiful concept that I really hope to see licensed someday.

Will You Clean This For Me? / Kirei Ni Shitemoraemasuka

Alright, something a little more light and fun! A story of a laundry (though it's really sorta general cleaning) shop as they go about their daily life, even offering a few tips and tricks to better cleaning things. Simple idea that has some pretty clear care put into it, and is just the right thing to relax with.

Amber Days and Golden Nights / Kohaku no Yume de Yoimashou

Let's keep the good vibes rolling! Another specific interest series, this time about craft beer. Kenzaki Nana's a burnt out employee at a Kyoto advertising firm, but happens to stumble across the Shirokuma bar. With just one night she ends up pulled into the world of craft beer, and our story begins! Very fun and light, and a really cool area to see explored by manga.

The Dragon, The Hero, and The Courier / Ryuu to Yuusha to Haitatsunin

Nothing like some good old comedy at the expense of someone else. Yoshida, a half elf, is a mail carrier for the Imperial City of Idazig that will deliver mail to anyone, anywhere. With the breadth of fantasy and middle-ages history expressed early on, there's a lot of creative potential for humor alongside the really wonderfully scratchy and sharp art.

Deep Sea Aquarium Magmell / Magmell Shinkai Suizokukan

My friend Phantom would kill me if this wasn't on the list. Anyways, it's a series about a deep sea aquarium employee in Tokyo. Very cool, very informal, and incredibly beautiful. I love how much they work with blacks and darkness in the art.

A Coffee Shop in the Unwaking Town / Samenai Machi no Kissaten

I love stories that are incredibly odd and quiet, and this is no exception. Suzume one day finds herself unable to wake up, stuck in the unwaking town Lutetia. It's in this town that she works at the coffee shop known as 'Quatre'. From the moment I laid eyes on it I knew I'd enjoy it, a unique concept paired with standout art, it has such a comfortable feeling to its experience (as well as offering a few recipes).

Living In an Antiquarian Bookstore of The Karakida Family / Karakida-ke no Kosho Gurashi

A simple story about three girls inheriting their grandfather's shop in the heart of the largest collection of used bookstores, Kanda-Jinbouchou. A very calm and borderline mundane story that is supplemented with some truly beautiful art.

And that's all this list has in it for now! Of course I've got more I can chat about, but I thought these to be the most promising in my perusing of the internet. Best of all though? All of these are available (to some degree) on MangaDex! If you want to give them a shot they're there. And really, do feel free to add to this list with your own online finds, I'd love to find all sorts of unique and creative manga that we don't get to hear about in the English sphere!

Where have I been?

Good question right? Well, last life post I talked about how I had gotten very busy then sick. Well...the truth, to put it bluntly, is that I was basically sick for 3 months straight.

The tl;dr on this is that ultimately, I had to leave Japan for health reasons, and come back to America in hopes I would get better. I have now returned, and within a week I am feeling almost completely better, so I'm gonna be getting back to streaming while I work on finding a new job. But for those who want more details, feel free to go through the read more.

That problem with my lungs didn't go away. They ran multiple tests on me, and found no allergies, or any other kind of sign of what was causing the inflammation in my lungs. It got a little better for a while, then gradually got worse again. For a few weeks, I was able to ride my bike to get places here and there. But, not long after I made that last update, my bike actually ended up getting stolen, and I never got it back, or any compensation for it, despite the place I left it having security cameras for this exact reason.

Not that it mattered much. The following week, I found myself barely able to climb stairs. I had an upcoming trip to Tokyo, for which I'd already paid, so I decided to go. Surprisingly, on the trip, I found my lungs feeling way better, and my legs and feet ached from all the walking and running I did, though I did still have some lung issues. By the last of the 4 days in Tokyo, I was tired, but my lungs felt pretty good. Then I came back to my city I lived in, and before even getting to my apartment, I was feeling worse.

On another trip to the doctor, I talked about this and basically got told "Well we can either do some intensive testing which could take months, or you could move away." At this point, with a doctor recommendation, and my chest almost always exhausted from just the effort of breathing, I looked into returning to America.

So that should give me more free time, right? Not really, sadly. I was still working for another two weeks while starting my preparations to leave. Despite repeated requests for help, neither my school nor any sort of management really helped me out, so it was mostly me and whatever help I could get from friends, none of whom had familiarity with the departure process.

During this time, my wife came to visit, and was a huge help, but after seeing me in person, was increasingly worried for my health. She was having to slow down her walking speed to that I could keep up without running out of breath, whereas normally it's very much the opposite for us. We had a good time while she was around, and she really helped lighten my load in moving back. She returned about a week and a half before I was scheduled to, and it was only after that that I started getting help from much of anyone locally. My last 3 days there really ran me ragged, especially since I had sold my car and had to get places by walking and busses.

So, I finally came home, with a desperate hope I would feel better, and as said, within a week, I'm able to exercise again! I can run, I can play beat saber, and work up a sweat without running out of breath too bad. So, the bad news is "so much for my job and life in Japan" but the good news is I am healthy again!

That said, from months of not playing Beat Saber, my stamina and capability have taken a hit, so I'll probably be streaming a lot of that for a while, so look forward to the Beat Saber Recovery Arc! Anyways, that's all from me for now, I'll hopefully see ya'all soon!

I kinda wanna ask, what are your thoughts on Sal saying that he didn't kill Sakemichi cuz of Wadonohara intervention. Cuz what if she didn't intervene would he kill his twin?

And makes me curious of a scenario where someone mauled/eaten Samekichi *cough*orca*cough*, would Sal celebrate or just go the genocide route?

Even though I like to claim I understand Sal better than everyone else I honestly have no idea lmao I feel the answer is very hard to know, because Samekichi is the only one that can make him break his little smug act

I feel like he may have killed him but with no actual spirit, like when you force yourself to study and you wanna study because you wanna get a grood grade but studying sucks so you don't actually wanna?

He thinks he does want him to die, but it's not true. Being good at lying to himself that ends up sounding true though

My take on it is always has and always will be that just like Samekichi, Sal loves what his brother used to be. But unlike Samekichi, who sees Shiranami in Sal, Sal doesn't see Aonami in Samekichi

And thinking about it, he could have pretended Samekichi is truly a random guy he doesn't know at all, but... he doesn't. He knows he's still Aonami by definition, so he can't bring himself to ignore that fact because of how much Aonami weighs on his mind

Samekichi being dead is "one problem less" but the thing is that he didn't have to be a problem, he chose to be one by stop being the Aonami he knew

As for the second question, I doubt he'd be happy with Samekichi having an anticlimatic death, and again his death isn't what would fix his life. I actually have this idea in my head about the aftermath of Bad End 1 (where Orca eats Wadda and Kichi) in which Sal finds about their deaths and when he sees Samekichi's corpse he notices his eyes are tearing up out of nowhere. My brain is goofy like that

As the camera flickers to life, you're greeted by the sight of sixteen young individuals each wearing high school uniforms, despite looking at least slightly older than high school aged. One girl with blonde hair clears her throat.

"Ahem. Hello, everyone! My name is Kaede Akamatsu... and I'm the former Ultimate Pianist. Former, seeing as we had to... escape our earth before we could be killed. We're here with our former teacher, Miss Wato. The plan is to find a suitable planet similar to earth and... start over there, I suppose."

That seems to flush the faces of several of the cast, shy but not necessarily uncomfortable at the thought. Some do some uncomfortable, some don't.

She puffs out her chest with a prideful smirk, which everyone respectfully looks away from because none of them are half as perverted as she seems to be.

She said this with malice lacing her voice, radiating deadly intent as her blood-colored eyes fixed on the purple-haired man.

This next young man attempted to rectify the situation by moving on from the topic.

What is the Shadowed Cafe? It's a Cafe in the Distortion world! A nice Giratina helps us get to those who need a nice place to relax while they're here, Shadows also come here and order food here and there~

Since this ties in with an art ask that I have on my list to draw, and in that ask it’s more of a friendship dynamic, Imma presume this one is for that too.

Honestly, I love when unlikely characters are paired up simply because they remind people of themselves—it leads to such fascinating duos haha. I can’t help imagining Kokichi and Komaru going to school together with Kokichi being like a year older and infamously known “That One Guy Whose Perpetually Suspended”. But honestly, Komaru would probably get along fairly well with Kichi given how well she adapts to Toko/Jack and evidently is just pretty chill with unhinged people lol. I can see Kokichi taking her on as a sort of underling to try to get this plain jane keeps-to-herself average girl to have a more interesting and “fulfilling” time at school. After all, aint your teens years the years meant to do wild (and borderline criminal) stuff? Komaru would like to disagree but Kokichi would like to counter that she should, in fact, live a little. But for all they buttheads, these two are pretty much a coming of age Disney movie waiting to happen. Just two polar opposite people who become friends through certain circumstances, have conflicting ways of life, and yet learn to appreciate and grow from each other for the better probably. There will be a lot of collateral damage along the way as well, of course.

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ Kichiboushi hadn't expected to be able to travel this far or eat food this delicious, but then again, anything was better than staying in one place and eating the same thing all your life. He was just happy that the traveler had helped them out that day and even introduced him to so many new friends like Gorou and Kokomi, even if they couldn't visit as often as he'd like.

But when Gorou had come and invited him to travel with him all the way to Fontaine to visit the traveler and Paimon, Kichi couldn't pass on the opportunity! Their first order of business: food.

It had been a long trip and Gorou knew how much Kichiboushi liked trying new things even if he technically didn't need to eat.

"Slow down, Kichiboushi! The food isn't going anywhere and I'm pretty sure there's plenty more where that came from."
