this site is so unlike anything else in all the best ways and they've tried for years to make it profitable but couldn't because a user-friendly and user-driven experience and profit simply cannot coexist but stagnating/dropping profits aren't an option in today's climate. that being said i highly doubt tumblr is going down it feels too unkillable but if it is im not going to instagram or twitter or mastofort or whatever i will simply walk into a forest and become moss. god bless

The Pokemon HOME app limiting random features and information to either the mobile or console versions is SO clunky and annoying.

My goal: to check which of my favorite Pokemon and shinies stored in HOME don't have the Paldea Champion Ribbon yet, so I can bring those into Scarlet and get it for them. But! You can only view what ribbons a Pokemon has on the mobile version of the software! And you can't move Pokemon to your switch games from mobile!!! So you have to:

quit out of the console app, if you opened it already because you thought this would be a relatively simple task

open the app on mobile

manually document which Pokemon don't have the ribbon- like, on a piece of paper or something

close the mobile app (you can't have both versions of the app open simultaneously)

open the app on console

move them from HOME into Scarlet, referring to aforementioned list

Now you might say "There is a custom tag feature in Pokemon HOME! You could apply a tag to the Pokemon you plan to move instead of making a physical note on a piece of paper!" But unfortunately, the only aspect of the tag you can see on the console version is the color- the name of the tag isn't visible. and I'm already using every color of tag available

(also: you can only make and apply tags on mobile. other mobile exclusive things: wonder trade and gts, viewing 90% of achievements, viewing models, switching between a pokemon's stats for different games it can go in without switching what game you're planning on moving things between)

#pokemon home #pokemon #i need a text post tag #i have more complaints too. i should make a comprehensive list. just for me #like: shinies don't have any symbol marking them as such on the GTS. so for the really subtle shinies? you just have to look REAL careful #whenever you import pokemon from Bank they automatically get tagged with a new tag with the name of the Box that they were imported from #which is maybe useful to somebody but its just super annoying for me to have to keep deleting the 'Kanto 1' tag from all of my Bank imports #the lighting in the model viewer is really fucking bad and makes the pokemon look flat and undefined #overlapping areas that are the same color blend together visually #for that matter; the HOME renders are really fucking ugly. compare them to the sugi art they're posed after sometime. terrakion. its WILD #the lag when moving between pages of boxes on the console version when you have a lot of pokemon stored in HOME is MISERABLE #the mobile app and console app have different sets of achievements that are only viewable on their respective apps???? its weird #can't reorder pokemon's box positions on mobile; you just get a big list that you can sort different ways #this doesn't affect their box placement at all #the tags seem really useful at first but if you're moving pokemon between HOME and games a lot? #you have to reapply the tags to those pokemon every time you put them back in HOME because that data is lost once they leave the app #they never fixed the Spinda problem with BDSP; they just made it so that you can't bring Spinda in or out of those games

I am going to throw a quick "sorry I disappeared" post up here because I was so ready to come home and talk to people after my first day of work last week, then I opened tumblr on my computer and it was the hideous new layout and I just gave up and collapsed into bed... and every day since has proceeded in exactly the same way. 😩

I'm only awake right now because I had to complete a 4hr online training before tomorrow morning sob sob sob sob, but usually I collapse right when I get home. And everyyyy time I open tumblr with aspirations of catching up here with all my fave people, the layout immediately makes me recoil!! Why did they have to do that!!! And then I'm asleep again.

Hopefully I'll be awake for more of the weekend this time around and can figure out whatever hacks you all have come up with to restore the non-hideous-iconless-twitter-knockoff version of the interface, but for now just wanted to let everyone know that I'm not ignoring you, I'm just genuinely going from working to asleep for the time being.

A protest against Wattpad's new Content Guidelines

Recently, Wattpad has changed the Content Guidelines on sexual content, declaring that the age of consent is now 18. "Any sexual content between characters must abide by this age of consent and not be in violation of Canadian Law."

This is embarrassing for Wattpad. This is disrespectful to Wattpad users. This is a capitalist company conforming to conservative politics.

Wattpad is and has always been home to teenage writers. When I first learned of Wattpad at age 13, this orange app was everything to me. Wattpad is home to teenage writers and readers all around the world, with its many languages Wattpad is unique, and that is something to be proud of. Wattpad has given a creative voice to a generation and inspired young people to write and with multi media challenge our perceptions of the written word and literature. That is not nothing.

But the thing is, teenagers write stories about teenagers. Teenagers write sexual content that includes teenagers. Teenagers have sex in real life with other teenagers. To declare any of that illegal only has negative consequences.

Wattpad declares they want to create a safe space. They want to protect the community. If they really wanted to do that, then they wouldn't have these restrictions on WRITTEN, FICTIONAL sexual content.

Things that would make this a safer space and create and protect our community of global writers: - quality sex education - quality sex education in all languages used on Wattpad

NOW we are in a situation where WRITTEN FICTIONAL depiction of sex between fictional characters under 18 is not allowed. "Illegal sex acts" aren't allowed either. Should we thank Wattpad for clarifying that they mean "according to Canadian law"? Or should we wait with the thanking until they change it to local laws, or LGBT+ stories will be illegal as well?

#my advice #but this saying is sooo true #i know some people at uni who study for exam so long and hard but then fail or just barely make it :( #like what are you doing? i don't mean this in a mean way but it doesn't have to be this difficult #i don't understand how some people can study for an exam for 2 weeks or even a month and still fail and i don't think they're stupid #or i don't see myself as particulary smart #but i guess they just waste their time a lot and i realized studying effective is so important #now everyone is a bit different and has to find what works best for them but there are certain techniques which are proven to work well #there is so much information on the internet on this look it up seriously #it made my life sm easier i never struggled in uni like i did in school and i get good grades #and if i ever struggled a bit it was because i started so late it was almost impossible to pass 😂 #which is why to do both is still best 😂 #but i actually always made it and i never failed an exam at uni (which i studied for) #(two i was fooled into to just try without studying bc it's easy lol) #i mean i shouldn't speak too soon but i already made it through some of the most difficult of my studies #ofc it depends on what you study how well this works but i'm speaking for myself #i once passed an exam with a B studying only 2 days as one of the best students while others studied 2 weeks #and got worse grades or failed #still studying only 2 days is stupidity don't do it 😅 #so the techniques i find very helpful are ofc exam questions probably the best one #if there are none make your own #then blurting for which there are different ways but i like to just go over a topic and then write down everything i remember #then fill the gaps #quizlet is also great it's an app which allows you to create cards and then tests you in creative ways #videos can be helpful as well for summaries and using summaries in general is normally enough it saves you sm time #normally you don't actually need to know everything but you should be careful it's not a bad summary leaving out too much 😅 #and i also like mindmaps bc i'm a very visual person #but all those tipps are mostly for remembering information so it doesn't work so well for other fields of study #well i hope this is somewhat helpful idk 🙈 #oh and reading texts over and over again is the most useless in my opinion i don't remember much at all and it takes sm time
