#the warners returning to my brain like
Note
aaron warner + body worshipping the reader
Tumblr media
“you’re just so beautiful, my love.” warner cooed. “my pretty girl.”
his slender fingers where currently stuffed in your plush cunt, sloppy, wet noises filling the room with each curl and thrust of them. you squirmed in his lap whenever he got too cocky and sped up the pace, the delicious slap of his hard palm against your sensitive cunt was enough to drive you mad without his praise and talented fingers— and he was well aware of that.
he noticed every little detail about you, every curve, every whine, every eye roll, every gasp that left your lips; he noticed everything about his perfect girl.
perfect, that’s what you were. so perfect for him, inside and out. especially outside, he thought. your plump body was what occupied majority of his thoughts, every dip of your body haunted him until he returned home to you and greeted his perfect body with a tight hug.
aaron just couldn’t help himself, you were everything to him. since the moment he first laid his eyes on you, you occupied his every crevice of his mind. you and your astonishing body were like a chronic illness that aaron never wanted to be cured of, an illness that shamelessly followed him around in the back of his mind constantly, gnawing at any other area of his brain that wasn’t you until you fully dominated his thoughts all together. he had never craved anything more, no amount of power could ever make him as satisfied as he is when looking at you.
so, when he discovered a nasty diary entry about yourself while snooping around, his heart burned with betrayal. you, the most beautiful woman to exist, felt as if you weren’t worthy of him? absolutely absurd.
“see this tummy?” he gestered to the chubby section of skin and fat by sliding his other hand down from the previous position on your throat to your abdomen, before giving it a soft squish. “it’s my second favorite part of you, and i will not allow you to speak of it as if it’s any shred of unworthy.”
“what’s y-our first favorite part?” you gasped out as his fingertips stroked your left wall.
he smirked a delightful smirk, one of pride and coy intentions. his green eyes flicked to your lips and you watched in anticipation through the mirror your were sat in front of. he leaned in closer, peppermint breath filling the small space between you both, before he brushed his lips against your cheek.
“these lips, love. my pretty girl’s kissable lips.”

tbh it's all speculation and every source says that they HOPE cruise will return. considering cruise just announced he's moving to warner bros i think they're doing damage control and really hope they can do it because he's their cash cow. until cruise himself confirms it i don't believe it.
yeah im with you on this, a lot of people have been saying this which is good.
I actually believe a top gun 3 will never be made because you CANNOT reasonably convince people the f-35 is a bad plane for two movies in a row. So they have to use the f-35, but tom cruise will never agree to make the movie because there are no two-seater f-35s so they'd have to use CGI lol
*I wanna stress I'm not like Anti-topgun3... im just anti- creative bankruptcy for the sake of a profit incentive... which a lot of Hollywood seems to be engaging in these days. endless sequels & prequels to profit off people's nostalgia for inarguably better movies of the past.
I've tried to keep my criticism of TGM to a minimum on this blog bc it really is a good movie &I hate to be Such a Crank All the Time, but its exactly my criticism of TGM too. As a story, it literally just reuses the same themes and motifs of the first movie with a few character tweaks & modern-warfare set dressing. rebellious kid (only rooster goes slow and not fast) who got shut out of the Navy (which for recruiting propaganda purposes is the Most Desirable Place To Be) needs to connect with a father figure to get over the ghosts of his past and reach his full potential. okay. it's the same story. it's literally A New Hope versus The Force Awakens levels of "we've seen this all before."
like im racking my brain trying to figure out how they would possibly write a third movie with the available threads left to pick up... I hope tom cruise says "no thank you" and top gun 3 languishes in development hell because my only answer is "I think the story is gonna suck shit"

“Hard Boot” - Dean x Reader
Part of the “Control Panel” Series
Rating Mature
Dean x Reader (Newly Established Intimate Relationship)
Tags: Dean Angst and Self-Loathing, Inability to Word, Adult Language, Dean POV
Word Count: 2500
After one night of sexual exploration, a case lured you both back into hunting mode. There was hardly time to breathe, let alone figure out how you were collectively supposed to handle this new aspect of your relationship. Is it any wonder Dean had to go and mess it up? That’s his expertise.
Note: You don’t have to read the first part, Factory Reset, to get the gist of this “What the heck are we supposed to do now? Friends to lovers” trope. But if you’re intrigued by these two, please try it.
I'm participating in @jacklesversebingo and this part will fill my "Admit it." square.

The shot glass tinks atop the counter. It’s barely audible. Dean glances up and the bartender appears, summoned by the tell tale call of a drunk.
Not just any drunk. The Fuck It Up Seven Ways To Sunday kind of drunk. Also known as Dean Winchester.
The bar is deserted. It’s 1:00 pm on a Wednesday outside the touristy parts of New Orleans.
The bartender tips the whiskey bottle in her hand. Dean nods. She pours.
“So, what exactly are you tryna drown, cher? Cause it might be easier to head a little north and walk into Lake Pontchartrain.”
Dean snorts. “Trust me, that’s crossed my mind.”
All the wrinkles in the older woman’s face droop along with her frown. “It can’t be that bad. Unless you’re broke… or your heart is.”
Dean shifts atop the stool. “My wallet’s full, thanks. Leave the bottle.”
Dean grunts at his inability to put one foot in front of the other trekking down the hallway to the hotel room. The air is spinning around him in a vortex, forcing his body to lean to the right even though his brain tries to rationally push forward. He’s in an anti-funhouse of his own creation.
He doesn’t remember how he finally gets into the room. Just that he is. He flops on the bed. Breathes in deep and holds it. Staving off the nausea that he deserves.
You should be here. Beside him. Celebrating a win.
He closes his eyes and lets the pain and loss keep him company instead in the late afternoon.
Sleep eludes him. He tosses. Turns. Spends time with his head hanging over the toilet bowl.
He stares at the alarm clock on the nightstand as it ticks over into 10 PM territory. When his eyes peel open again, it’s sometime after 1 AM.
He sniffs the air.
He smells you.
Before he can realize it’s a mistake, he springs to sitting. The hammer nailing together a house in his head takes a back seat to the elation seeing you sat at the foot of the bed.
You look demure in your side saddle position. The patient stare has Dean wondering how long you’ve been watching him sleep.
He wants to ask. But he’s afraid anything he says is going to be wrong. So he just stares back.
Your face is void of any discernible emotion.
And that freaks Dean out more than anything. Because even when he couldn’t read you like a book, he could at least hazard a guess. Even if it was wrong, it was something.
But all he sees now is a shield. A wall that he’s caused.
“I’m gonna head out.” You state in a curt tone that leaves no room for debate.
“You already were out.” The head pounding irritation preoccupies him enough that the sass spills out, uncontrolled. Your lids slit for a second. Well, he got some reaction.
“I-” You straighten up. A sorry attempt at a laugh huffs out. “Forget it.” You’re up off the bed and snagging items dropped around the room. Things are stuffed into your bag with haste.
Dean wants the elation to return to the room. Twenty-four hours prior, you were smiling. Eager to track down the Djinn. It had been a day’s drive from Lebanon to New Orleans, with a 6-hour stop in between at the Cradle Rock Motel.
Dean would have done whatever you wanted in that motel room. All that possibility and you had him flying high on adrenaline. You’d handled him with kid gloves and given him an experience he’d cherish, even if he was still sore. He would have let you strap on Marvin again and fold him like Origami. He wanted that again. He wanted it all with you.
But all you had wanted in the end as you laid in bed was to curl up and sleep in his arms. You wanted to rest before getting back on the road in your separate rides.
And the simple act of being with you. Static. Stationary. Silent. That was wonderful, too.
There was the promise of staying in bed for days after you took care of the monster together. Lingering lips. Suggestive smirks. Greedy gropes.
All of that was a distant memory now.
You throw the duffle over your shoulder. “Bye, Dean.”
He bungees off the bed. Rushes to the door to wedge between you and the exit. “That’s it?” His stomach roils at the exertion but he pushes it down.
Your voice doesn’t waver. “For now. Yeah.”
Dean holds his ground for another second. Two. Three. Four.
“Don’t make it worse.” You plead.
That reminds him the ownness of this whole mess is in fact on him. And he relinquishes.
And watches you walk out the door.

Dean clinks down the iron bunker stairs. Three weeks of hunting non-stop has joints creaking, muscles aching. He plans to beeline it to the showers and let the glorious water pressure ease some of the pain. There’s also an 80-year old bottle of Macallan in his bedroom that will ease everything else.
Sam’s out at Eileen’s. The texts back and forth earlier were short and mainly for informational purposes. Sam gave up trying to find out what was going on with Dean two weeks back. As long as he checked in and provided proof of life, Sam didn’t pester for details.
Dean marches through the war room, into the library, weaves the labyrinth of halls to get to his room.
He keeps his head down when he rounds the final corner. He doesn’t want to glimpse the door marked number 16 at the end of the hallway. It’s your bedroom. Well, whenever you crash at the bunker it’s yours.
There’s a twist in his gut when he realizes you might never sleep in that bed or cross the threshold into the Men of Letters homebase again.
He’s been avoiding returning because of all the reminders of you. The wound is as fresh and festering as it was when you left him in New Orleans. He can distract from the pain during moments occupied with cases and bad guys. This, not so much.
He opens his door, good ole number 11.
When he left this room last, you were here with him.
And goddammit. You’re all he can see no matter where his gaze lands.
The duffle drops onto the mattress. Another musty bed in another room in another hallway might be a better alternative tonight.
He considers it. He’ll decide for sure after his shower.
Dean grumbles when he gets back to the room.
It shouldn’t be possible and his mind must be playing tricks on him, but he thinks he catches the scent of you.
Yeah, he can’t sleep in here tonight.
He runs a hand through his towel dried hair and peels off Tad’s robe. He toes out of the slippers and tugs on a pair of sweats and a well-worn henley. The realization he’s donned the shirt inside out takes a backseat to the more important matter of grabbing the bottle of Macallan.
He shuffles over in bare feet and squats by the cabinet under his desk. His mouth is watering in anticipation of that smooth amber-colored nectar coating his throat.
“What the fuck?” he mumbles in confusion.
The bottle is gone.
“Looking for this?”
Dean stills at the question floating over his shoulder.
The voice isn’t something he expected to hear back at the bunker anytime soon. Maybe ever.
He rises, inhales through his nose. Mentally prepares for when he turns and faces you.
When he does rotate on his heels, he purses his lips into a tight line. He can’t let the impulse to smile win out.
You're wearing one of his flannels. It’s the black, white and gray one he hasn’t worn in ages. And the way the sweatpants hang loose and baggy and obscure your feet; well, he’s pretty sure those are his, too. Leaning against the doorsill, you look as if you’re trying way too hard to appear casual about any of this. The bottle of Macallan in your grip is displayed as a peace offering.
There’s the tiniest grin quirking up your lips. You look at the bottle, then to Dean. “I was keeping an eye on it.”
Dean inspects the liquid level of the scotch as a distraction. If he stares at that mouth of yours a second longer, he’ll forgive you for anything.  “That’s about four fingers lighter than when I left.”
Your brows raise. Mouth opens. Dean knows you're ready to dispute his measurements. But something else clicks in Dean’s head and he doesn’t give you a chance.
“How long have you been staying here?”
You sigh and enter the bedroom. The bottle rests on the tiny corner table. You collapse into the chair beside it. “This’ll be my third night.”
Dean stands there. Blinks. You settling in is hopefully a good sign.
“Sam gave me a heads up that you were coming back some time tonight.”
“Why didn’t you high tail it out of here when you got wind of me?” Dean asks.
Your mouth tilts into a frown. “I came here to wait for your slow ass to return, Winchester.” You thumb at the bottle. “I may have needed some liquid courage during my stay to, you know, stick around.”
Dean crosses his arms, determined not to give an inch. Doesn’t matter how goddamn sexy you look. How your hair’s mussed from laying in bed. How his oversized shirt is unbuttoned enough at the collar to display the lovely expanse of skin from the column of your neck to the round of your shoulder. He prepares for the flailing you must have been wanting to give him so badly that you camped here for days. He tries not to think about how much he’d love to bend over so you can give him a spanking.
You stare up at him from the chair. “Oookaayyy.” Palms run over cloth-covered thighs. “I wanted to explain myself. Back in New Orleans.”
Dean shrugs, his crossed arms lifting up with the movement.
“We were a mess on that hunt.” You start. “All sorts of wrong. Second guessing. Getting in each other’s way. That Djinn got the upperhand on us because we were sloppy.”
Dean scoffs. “It wasn’t that bad.”
“You tackled it while I was about to kill the fucking thing.” You counter.
“You were getting choked out WHILE it was lighting up like an electric smurf.” Dean’s voice rises.
“I had the silver knife to its throat UNTIL you hip checked and then rolled around with Mr. Sandman doing the horizontal mambo.”
“Who was trying to pull it off me only to get a nasty throat punch?”
You raise both hands. “Look, my point is we were off our game. And I’ve never, ever had to worry about you having my back. Until that hunt.”
Dean rolls his shoulders like he’s ready to take flight. “What the hell does that mean?”
“Do you think I’m a good hunter?” you ask.
“What the hell kind of question is that?”
“A simple one.” A tap on the table precedes your rise. You stroll with purpose towards him. “Do you think I’m a good hunter?” you repeat.
“Of course I do. You might even be the third best hunter on the planet.”
You smile and, dammit, Dean melts a little. You clear your throat and the smile fades. “Then why didn’t you let me do my job?”
Dean stills. He watches your frame relax. The bravado seeps from your posture.
“Things are different between us now.” You sigh. “I hoped that what we did would bring us closer. More in sync on a hunt. But it did the exact opposite.” Another step brings you right up into Dean’s space. You latch onto a forearm. “Your head wasn’t in that hunt with me.”
“It was.”
You shake your head. “No. Your heart was. And so was mine.” Your voice breaks a little. “All I could think about was how I needed to protect you.”
“When do we not think about protecting a hunting partner?”
“That’s gotta go hand in hand with the mission, though; not take over.” The warm fingers drop from Dean’s arm. “I told Sam what happened.”
Dean rolls his eyes. “And what did Mr. Know It All have to say?”
Your shoulder lifts and almost touches your ear. “He said ‘welcome to the club.’”
“Huh?”
“Sam said you must care about me an awful lot if you were constantly undermining my ability to actually get the fucking job done. That sacrificing yourself is part of your DNA.” A full-watt smile - the one that makes Dean’s insides warm up - graces your face. “That you’ll die a hundred times over to prevent the recipient of all that care and concern from even getting a splinter in their thumb.” The snark in your tone is sharp and cutting. “Admit it.”
“Well, that’s just a flat out exaggeration.”
Suddenly, all of the playfulness in your expression is gone. You frown. “You don’t care about me like that?”
“What? No. I mean, yes, of course I care about you like that.”
“Good.” The smile returns. “Because I know for a fact that none of that is an exaggeration where Sam is concerned. You’ve figured out how to make it work with Sam. You and I are going to have to make that happen, too.”
Dean’s grinning back. “Any suggestions?”
“You could follow my lead and do what I say at all times.” You offer.
“I’m all about that in almost every scenario. Except when we’re hunting.”
You nod. “We’re not hunting now.” Dainty fingers clasp over his hand. “I’m sorry I ran away.” You whisper, staring into his eyes.
Your small frame belies your strength and formidable capability when it comes to a hunt. And though Dean’s only had one taste of your dominance in bed, you handled him with care and exerted contained control. But now Dean needs you to know how much he intends on proving his worth to you. He’s more than a deft hand wielding a machete. More than reliable backup. More than a decades long friend who can keep up with the tequila shots. He wants to be more than all of that for you.
He wriggles from under the grip to clutch your face with both hands. “I wanna tough it out with you.”
Your head tilts up and down in his hold. “Me too.”
You raise on tiptoes as he dips his head. Your lips meet in a gentle brush of skin. Dean’s skin tingles all over.
It’s only a peck. Dean pulls back so he can witness the bliss on your face. Eyes closed, mouth parted. You release a sigh. “Can we…” you start to ask.
“Anything,” Dean murmurs.
“Can we go to sleep? Start fresh in the morning? I missed you.”
Dean thinks his face will crack at the force of his smile. “Absolutely.”

Season 3 Hulu thumbnails
Hulu has put the season 3 page up for us to stare at for two weeks. I painstakingly manually downloaded the images from the Hulu website, even though I could have just stolen them from other people, because I have INTEGRITY! (And it's harder for me to analyze them when it's just a reblog.) They're in episode order.
Tumblr media
From "Season 3 & WB". It looks like Nora is pointing out to Ralph that the Warners aren't supposed to be out like this. Ralph is wearing two hats.
Tumblr media
From "Royal Flush". Hmm.
Tumblr media
From "D.I.WHY" or "Planet Warner". Love the chaos kids just pumping water into a hole in the ground so they can take a swim.
Tumblr media
From "Über Nachtmare". Similar to the stock image I already showed. Yakko still looks super cute in that outfit.
Tumblr media
From "Groundmouse Day". Hard to say exactly what's going on here.
Tumblr media
From "The Island of Dr. Warneau". This confirms that Scratchansniff is the mad scientist in question. It looks like multiple different sets of Warner clones are getting revenge on the doctor. I'm really looking forward to this one!
Tumblr media
From "All's Fair in Love and Door". This is probably Brain's alternate reality. Does his alternate reality involve being married to Julia or something?
Tumblr media
From "WARnerGAMES". YES!!! I love seeing the Warners in 3D! I think their character designs work really well for it. I've always wanted to see the Warners animated in big budget 3D style, with highly detailed fur and everything. My hopes of that pretty much died after Space Jam, but this is still great!
Tumblr media
From "How the Brain Thieved Christmas". I guess the toy Brain is trying to take over the world with is a robotic Pinky.
Tumblr media
From "Aliens Resurrected", probably. This style looks similar to the one from "A Brief History of History" in season 2. I think the same aliens from that one may return and threaten to destroy the world unless Yakko convinces them otherwise with a song. The Warners look really cute. I love when their facial expressions are basically reduced to :0)

Animaniacs S3 Episodes 1 and 2 Opinions
Spoiler Warning: This review will go into spoilers for the first 2 episodes of season 3. Proceed at your own risk

OMG!! It's finally here! Season 3 is finally here! After waiting one year, three months, and eleven days, we finally get to see the grand return of the Warners and Pinky and The Brain for all new adventures! I watched the first two episodes of this season, and boy, it was a doozy! Anyways, here are my opinions of these two episodes.
Episode 1: Honestly this was a mixed bag overall. The Warner segments were only okay while the Pinky and The Brain segment was great. Honestly, "Season 3 and WB" was kind of slowly paced and boring. The segment from the 2nd season that came before this was also pretty slow and boring. The Warners felt like background characters and the drama felt forced. I'll give them points for giving Nora Rita Norita a bigger personality and there were some clever movie parodies, but it felt slow. There were also some gross-out jokes that were super weird. There weren't many laughs to be found here, also. "How To: Friendship" was a nice follow-up to the previous segment. While I don't think it was as good as the first Pinky's How To, it still managed to be a funny and engaging watch. I feel like that this season is going to focus more on Pinky, since he basically had more screen time than Brain in these first two episodes. Pinky was very funny and I love how much he cares for Brain. His apology song to Brain was hilarious (and Pinky surprisingly has better editing skills than me!) Pinky playing around with Brain using the filters was cute and him moving his hand to pat Brain on the head when he was frustrated was just freaking adorable. I also liked the ending when Brain compliments Pinky for essentially saving him from an explosion. Also, this is the episode where Pinky makes a macaroni photo of him kissing Brain!!! And Brain keeps the picture even after tearing it away!! This was probably the cutest segment from the reboot and I was squealing like a little girl the entire time! There have already been more Brinky moments in these first two episodes than in the entire first season! I can't wait for more!
Episode 2: This was a slight improvement over the first episode but not by too much. "Soda-Pressed" was kind of interesting and Dot did have her shining moments. But all that character growth just goes down the drain at the end. The song in this episode was only okay, and I'm more excited for other songs to come later on. It was very slowly paced and only had a few decent laughs. This was an okay experience. "A Starbox is Born" is probably the best Starbox and Cindy segment but that's not saying much. There were some cute moments and the animation was beautiful but that's about it. I also got a laugh out of this segment so I consider that a win. It still had some slow pacing, but it thankfully didn't run on for too long. "Royal Flush" was a pretty good segment. There was some clever satire, good jokes, and a surprise song that I really enjoyed. I thought that this episode would be focused more on the poker game that Brain was in, but it was more focused on Pinky and his feelings. Pinky looked stunning in that dress and I liked the bond he formed with the Meagan Markle parody. The song they sang was a spoof of "A Whole New World" and it reminded me of the song from "Pinky's Dream House" (An episode of Pinky, Elmyra, and The Brain). This song was really good and I enjoyed it a lot. Also, Pinky is not straight! He literally envisions Brain in the stars during the parody of a romantic song when the Meagan Markle character was singing about her husband-to-be. Pinky is clearly enamored with his friend, and Brain hopefully will recuperate these feelings. I think the writers are hinting at a little something here! Anyways, I really enjoyed this segment, though it went in a different direction than I had thought. (Also, when the horse appears in the stable at the beginning, did anyone get nervous and think Phar Fignewton was back from the bin of dead Animaniacs characters? I sure did!)
Anyways, I think that the Pinky and The Brain segments are very strong, while the Warner segments were just okay. I still have eight episodes to watch, so maybe my opinions will change for the better or for the worse.

Snowflake as Susie Campbell and Billie as Twisted Alice in "Brain and the ink machine"🖤💚🤍
Don’t be surprised that Snowflake and Billie look like twins in these arts, I was just too lazy to change my hairstyle when I drew Billie. :'3
From the story "Brain and the Ink Machine" it is said that Snowflake Campbell was a beautiful woman who had a beautiful voice and voiced the character Julia Angel (Julia Brain as Alice Angel). She was very much in love with Larry Lawrence. One day in the studio, when she found out that Julia Pendle (Julia Brain (in the SCP version) as Allison Connor) would be voicing Julia Angel, she was very offended. Snowflake accidentally fell into the ink machine and after a while became a searcher. The studio employees thought that she had gone missing. After 8 years, Snowflake turned from a seeker into Julia Angel. But when she encountered Ink Brain, his touch caused her to turn into Twisted Billie. Because of this, she decided to become beautiful after meeting the demon in only one way. And this is to kill innocent creatures by taking their organs. But since she couldn't find one, she had to create clones of Pinky and the Warner Gang (Yakko, Wakko and Dot as the Butcher Gang). Twisted Billie, after transforming and trying to become beautiful, began to live on floor called 9. One day, when Steven Stein had not yet returned to the studio, she calmly sang her song "Lonely Angel" on her floor, she heard someone say her name when she was a human. She looked back and saw that it was her lover who was speaking. She recognized his voice, but could not believe that he had changed. She asked him if he was really Larry Lawrence, and he answered yes. She asked him how he became like this. He replied that the reason for his transformation was that he had an unhealthy addiction to ink after an accident in the sheet music closet where he was covered in ink from head to foot and stole bottles of ink and drank them until he became a monster in 2 months. Larry also said that when he heard her singing, he thought that this voice was so divine and familiar and the song too, and that after thoughts he decided to run there. Twisted Billie asked him if they could start a new life, but he politely refused and said that he must find a "sheep" for his Lord, who will help him get rid of the ink "prison". Then, when Steven Stein meets her, Twisted Billie gives him all sorts of tasks, and after that, when she sends him and Pinky home, she suddenly changes her mind and shouts that she needs Pinky and that he is ideal. When the elevator crashes down one of the floors, Pinky tries to wake up Steven, who is unconscious. But Twisted Billie sneaks up to Pinky and grabs him to her. She disfigures Pinky turning him into Brute Pinky (Pinky as Brute Boris). After Steven defeats him, Twisted Billie screams and says why Steven can't just die. She runs towards him and when she tries to kill him, she immediately dies and falls to the floor. And no one sees her anymore. And the cause of her death was Julia Pendle's machete.

do you think the party could defeat IT?
and yes, i did read the whole thing and i love it, i love you and your brainworms /p
- kori -
Kori! You know eventually you're going to regret asking me these things, but thank you for encouraging my brain worms. Let's do this.
Again, I've been thinking about it all day, could the Party defeat It?
I've said this before, but we pretty much know that the Loser's club were the blueprint for the Party. This is especially reflected in season one. For those who didn't know though, the Suffer brothers wanted to direct the It remake and when Warner Brothers said no, they went and created Stranger Things instead. Here's actually a pretty good article on that.
So let's set this in a universe where it's Holly that gets taken/killed by Pennywise. And I say Holly because Bill was blue print for Mike. Again though, Mike did grow into his own character in later seasons. Side note: I have whole another post with the Party and Losers Club comparisons and who was probably based on who.
Secondly let's say in this universe there's no powers and Max and El is already apart of the party. Just a group of regular kids against a monster. Can't give the Party an advantage if we're giving a fair judgement.
So Holly, she's gone. Mike? He wants to find her and kill the monster that took her. The Party obviously is going to help him, but first let's talk about how It would terrorize these poor kids.
It would taunt Mike like how It taunted Bill, with a corpse version of Holly. Also Ted and Karen, like Bill's parent's, become completely despondent to him but I would argue so would Nancy- We're going to get to that.
Lucas and Dustin would be taunted I would like to think with monsters from DnD. It's a shapeshifter after all. (Yes I know that's an oversimplification) But their fears could something else and I am open to suggestions on this.
El, who I would argue has similarities to Beverly, would be taunted with Papa and Max would be taunted with Billy. I would also argue that It would manipulate Billy into doing It's bidding like how It did with Bowers. Like how Billy was flayed, more parallels between St and It And Will, oh poor Will. I think Will is a mixture of Richie and Eddie and like how It tortured Richie, It would tortue Will with 'his secret'.
So now we know how It would terrorize them but what about Joyce, Hopper, and the teenage crew? In Stranger Things they help the Party against the dangers from the Upside Down but they're not helping against It. Especially Hopper and Joyce.
It isn't just a monster, It isn't like Vecna. It can control a whole town. Make the adults not notice the missing kids, make them numb to the evil It extrudes over the town. In Derry the parents of the missing kids eventually forgot about them. And you could argue, oh Joyce would be the exception but she's not. Bill's parents, who we know loved Georgie, forgot him. I love Joyce but she isn't overcoming that.
The teenagers are more of a different story, especially Nancy since it's her sister that got taken, but I think It would have the same affect on them. Especially since the teenage crew is so close to adulthood.
So the kids are their own. They don't get outside help like they do in Stranger Things.
It takes El, Mike finds out, and he would go to Lucas. Mike and Lucas would've gotten into the fight after Neilbolt because Lucas and Mike's friendship is very reminiscent of Bill and Richie's. Especially in season one.
They charge in, yada yada yada, all that shit goes down, they put It into an early hibernation. We know how it goes, here's how the Party deviates from the Losers Club. One them isn't staying behind.
None them are going to stay in their hometown. You could maybe say Dustin but I'm not sure. So how would they even know It came back in 27 years? Remember, It would make them forget when they grew up and left.
But let's say It called them home. They got some funny feeling and returned home, not sure as to why until they run into each other and start remembering. Because one them didn't stay behind, they have no research on how to kill It. They're already at a disadvantage.
Also we've have seen cracks in the Party as they've gotten older. I feel like the love triangle with Bev, Ben, and Bill has a lot similarities with El. Mike, and Will. If they didn't heal those cracks as teenagers I can only imagine what they're like when they return as adults. Yes they love each other, but there are cracks! And I really hate to say this, but after Mike finds out Holly is dead, I don't see him having motivation to fight It again. I don't think the Party would have made a 'blood oath'. This isn't any failing against them, I'm just trying to think of them as them and not the Loser's club.
I believe the if there was a driving force to go fight It a second time it would be Lucas. Maybe El and Will too, but mainly Lucas. Knowing there's a monster out there that no one is doing anything about is very much something Lucas would want to take care of.
I'm realizing this as I am typing this, I don't think the Party could defeat It. I hate to say that. Them not having someone staying behind really hurts them. (Mike H was the reason the Losers Club beat It, he's a badass.)
I'll sum this up: if the Party does decide to fight It as an adult, they die but there's chance they just wouldn't. I'm open to different opinions, because obviously I understand the Losers better then I understand the Party.
The reason the Party fights the monsters from the Upside Down time after time is because they're in direct danger and it's not just them. They have help. They have adults when they're kids. Mike has Nancy. There's Hopper and Joyce.
Against It, they would be by themselves, even as adults. The more I think about it, I just feel the Party wouldn't fight It a second time, they may not even return to their hometown after the 27 years.
There's more I could say but this is way too long, my God. If you read all this, thank you for listening to my brain worms. I know other people probably have different opinions and please share!
Kori, do you regret encouraging me yet? AAAAAAA

A/N: It’s been a hot minute, thank you so much for your patience while I wade through my crazy mind. This was a really challenging chapter for me to write. It's not a scene that is in the movie, but as I kept digging into this story, I realized that I needed to add it to give Liam the kind of relationship with his daughter that he deserves.
A/N 2: Thank you so so much to @txemrn for pre-reading (twice), and for encouraging me and keeping me on track when I needed it.

Two days after returning from New York, Riley and I decided to sit down with Eleanor and lay it all out on the table. As hurt as we were about the way everything happened, this was our daughter’s wedding. We wanted to be happy for her. We needed to get past the heartbreak of her engagement so that we could embrace her excitement.
“Are you ready for this?” Riley asked, taking Liam’s hand as they sat on the sofa in his study, waiting for Eleanor to join them.
Liam sighed. “I suppose. I just want to move past this and be able to be happy for her.”
Riley nodded, gently squeezing Liam’s hand. “I know.”
The moment was interrupted by a knock on the door. Liam called for them to enter, and Eleanor walked through the door.
“Hey, you guys wanted to see me?” Her voice was tentative as she walked into the room. Both of her parents stood to greet her.
“Yes, please take a seat, Princess.” Liam greeted her with a kiss on the cheek. He motioned for her to sit on a nearby chair as he and Riley returned to their spots on the couch.
Eleanor sat, her eyes moving between her parents. “Am I in trouble?”
Riley chuckled. No matter how much she took after Liam, every now and then, she would see a little bit of herself come out in Eleanor. “Should you be in trouble?” She responded the same way her mother would when she used to ask the same thing.
The princess’s eyes went wide as she racked her brain, trying to think of anything she could have done.
Liam shook his head, a small smile coming through. “You’re not in trouble. We just wanted to speak with you about your courtship, to clear the air before we move forward with the wedding planning.”
“Oohh… kay…” She thought they had cleared the air the night she got back from New York. “Did everything go alright with Brian’s parents?”
“They were lovely,” Riley assured her. “And they seem quite taken with you. That’s kind of the thing.”
“I don’t understand, I was perfectly polite and…”
“They were there for your proposal,” Liam interrupted.
“Liam!” Riley swatted his shoulder, they had agreed to ease into the conversation.
“No, Riley. We said we were going to use this as an opportunity to put everything out on the table, so that’s what I’m doing.” Liam’s tone was stern with Riley, but he softened when he turned back to his daughter. “They were there at one of the most important moments of your life. You spent time with them regularly. We didn’t even know Brian existed until you were engaged,” Liam explained.
“Daddy, I’m sorry, but I thought we got past this when I apologized the night I got back,” Eleanor started getting defensive.
Liam looked down, pinching the bridge of his nose, trying to compose himself. He felt Riley link her hand with his free one and squeeze gently. He looked over to her and she nodded, encouraging him to continue.
“Eleanor,” he took a deep breath, looking over to her. “I’ve always thought that we’ve had a good relationship, that we were close.” Eleanor nodded, agreeing with him. “It really hurt to learn that you had essentially become a member of Brian’s family when we didn’t even know you were seeing someone.”
Eleanor’s eyes went wide as she took in her father’s words. “Mom, do you feel that way too?”
“Of course, I do, honey. It hurt both of us to find out you were going through such an exciting time, and hadn’t thought to include us in it.”
“Wow,” Eleanor exhaled. “I mean, yeah, I spent time with his family. They were thirty minutes away. It would have been rude not to take them up on their invitation.”
Liam and Riley watched Eleanor as she composed her thoughts, giving her the time she needed to properly express herself.
“And they weren’t there when he proposed,” she continued, “they were meeting us for drinks, like a goodbye thing, because I was coming home. He asked me before we met up with them.”
Eleanor shifted in her seat, sitting taller. “I didn’t keep you guys in the dark intentionally. I hope you know that. Honestly, things got serious really fast, and it felt like something I needed to tell you in person. That’s why I invited you to come to New York while I was there. I was going to introduce you.”
She was right. She had invited us to join her in the city for a weekend about halfway through her trip. We were ready to go, but the morning we were supposed to leave, we had been called to Valtoria for an unexpected emergency, and we were unable to make the trip before she was scheduled to come home. Perhaps the blame was not as one sided as I had been making it.
“Daddy,” Eleanor’s tone was pleading. He looked up and saw the tears pooling in her eyes. “I’m so sorry. I wanted to tell you, I really did, and I had no idea I was going to come back engaged.” Her gaze dropped, and her breath hitched slightly.
Liam looked over at Riley who nodded to him, encouraging him to talk to Eleanor. “Eleanor, look at me.” His tone was gentle yet commanding.
She looked up, wiping away a tear as she locked eyes with her father.
“Do you stand by your decision to accept Brian’s proposal?”
“Uh-huh,” she answered tentatively, unsure where he was going with this.
Liam stood, and signaled for her to do the same. Eleanor stood in front of her father, and he placed his hands on her shoulders. “Eleanor, you are going to be queen someday. That means making decisions that not everyone will agree with. And some of those decisions are going to upset people. But if you believe in the choices you make, you need to stand tall and own them. Do you understand?”
Eleanor nodded in response, and Liam arched his brow. “Yes daddy. I understand.”
“Good. And it is important to listen to those who disagree with you. But no matter what, you show nothing but confidence in your decisions. If you appear to second guess yourself, they will follow suit.”
“But you guys are my parents, not my subjects. It’s different”
“Not really.” Riley interjected as she stepped up next to Liam. “Do you think your grandparents agreed with every decision I’ve ever made?”
“And your grandfather didn’t always agree with mine.” Liam added. “The only difference is, I made the mistake of going with what he wanted for me, instead of following my own judgment. All that did was hurt people. Your mother and I included.” He took Riley’s hand and brought it to his lips.
“I understand,” Eleanor said. “I’m so sorry that I hurt you guys. I promise I’ll keep you more in the loop about stuff, starting with the wedding planning.”
Liam and Riley both smiled, pulling her into a hug. “I guess that means we should start interviewing wedding planners,” Liam said as they pulled away.
“Actually,” Eleanor started. “I kind of already had someone in mind…”

40 years, 40 movies: My life through film
Tumblr media
On Feb. 16, I’m turning 40. In honor of this milestone birthday, I chose my favorite movie (and a runner-up) for each year of my existence.
Some years were easy, as there was an obvious personal choice. Others, like 1994 or 1999 which are among the greatest years in film history, proved far more difficult.
What I discovered was there’s literally hundreds of movies I love from the past 40 years but my favorites are the ones that made the most impact and I, unequivocally, adore. The results are deeply autobiographical, so join me on a four-part journey exploring the movies that shaped who I am.
Tumblr media
COURTESY OF 20TH CENTURY FOX
1983: “Return of the Jedi”
It was perhaps inevitable that I would become a “Star Wars” fan. I was named after Obi-Wan actor Alec Guinness. As my parents only had a VHS copy of “Return of the Jedi,” it was my first introduction to “Star Wars.” Given the episodic, serialized nature of the movies, I was able to just drop into the next adventure and fall in love with R2-D2, C3PO, Luke, Han and Leia.  (Runner-up: “National Lampoon’s Vacation”)
Tumblr media
COURTESY OF SONY PICTURES
1984: “Ghostbusters”
“Ghostbusters” remains one of the defining franchises for me. Movies, cartoons, comics, toys, clothes, it has been an obsession since I was a little boy. My baby teeth marks were on the box of the VHS tape my parents owned. My first day of kindergarten became less traumatic when I found two boys playing Ghostbusters and they invited me to join them. They already picked Peter (Bill Murray) and Ray (Dan Akyroyd), leaving me with the nerdy Egon (Harold Ramis). I was disappointed. Now I’m totally Team Egon. (Runner-up: “The Neverending Story”)
Tumblr media
COURTESY OF UNIVERSAL PICTURES
1985: “Back to the Future”
This is another seminal film from my childhood and typically my default answer for my favorite movie. The idea of time travel sparked my imagination as a child. I used to run around my backyard as a kid, humming Alan Silvestri’s theme, imagining I was traveling through time with Christopher Lloyd’s Doc Brown. I’ve lost count how many times I’ve watched the film, but the final act still fully engages me every time. (Runner-up: “The Breakfast Club”)
Tumblr media
COURTESY OF PARAMOUNT PICTURES
1986: “Ferris Bueller’s Day Off”
Any child coming of age in the 1980s and 1990s was hugely affected by the teen films of John Hughes, who was able to perfectly capture the angst of growing up. “Ferris Bueller” was the ultimate kid fantasy: Skipping school for a day in the city with your friends. Better yet, Ferris manages to outsmart all the adults, including snooty waiters, parents and the principal. As a kid, Matthew Broderick’s Ferris felt like the embodiment of cool. As an adult, it is undeniable that the anxiety-ridden Cameron (Alan Ruck) is my avatar. (Runner-up: “Labyrinth”)
Tumblr media
COURTESY OF MGM
1987: “Spaceballs”
I had a major Mel Brooks phase in my adolescence. I even held a party dedicated to watching Brooks films. I vividly remember my friend Rebecca Howland telling me “The Producers” was good, but not as good as “2001” (the film it beat for Best Original Screenplay). Only four Brooks films have been released in my lifetime. Of those four, “Spaceballs” is the one I’ve revisited the most because its inspired lunacy is perfectly delivered by its cast, including Bill Pullman, John Candy, Rick Moranis and Brooks, himself, in dual roles. (Runner-up: “The Princess Bride”)
Tumblr media
COURTESY OF TOUCHSTONE PICTURES
1988: “Who Framed Roger Rabbit”
This was a mind-blowing film for a kid. It was the first and only time Disney and Warner Bros. characters interacted together. It remains the definite seamless blend of live-action and animated characters. But the biggest mindfreak to my little brain was that Christopher Lloyd, my beloved Doc Brown from “Back to the Future,” was the evil Judge Doom. Years later, while studying film in college, I would write an essay exploring the film’s take on the film noir genre. (Runner-up: “Beetlejuice”)
Tumblr media
COURTESY OF 20TH CENTURY PICTURES
1989: “Say Anything”
Anyone who knows me, knows that I’m a big Batman fan, so it probably seems insane that my No. 1 choice for 1989 isn’t Tim Burton’s “Batman.” Here’s the thing, I’m also a huge fan of actor John Cusack and writer/director Cameron Crowe. If you need any indication of how much I love this movie, “Say Anything” is tattooed on my right arm. “Say Anything” is the definitive 1980s teen romance with Lloyd Dobler being the ideal model of a boyfriend. (Runner-up: “Batman”)
Tumblr media
COURTESY OF NEW LINE CINEMA
1990: “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles”
There was a time when the ninja turtles were my everything. I had a tape with a couple of episodes of the cartoon that featured a trailer for the live-action film. I loved the cartoon but this was different. It was dark and atmospheric like the comic books that inspired the cartoon and toys, and the Jim Henson-created turtles looked real. The film deepened my love. I had a cassette of the film’s theme song, “Turtle Rhapsody” that I danced to constantly in my room. (Runner-up: “Tremors”)
Tumblr media
COURTESY OF ORION PICTURES
1991: “Bill and Ted’s Bogus Journey”
I vacillated on what my  first choice and runner up would be for 1991. I nearly chose “Addams Family,” but I prefer its 1993 sequel “Addams Family Values.” Alas, a certain dinosaur movie claimed that year. Ultimately, I went with another sequel that actually improves upon its predecessor. Sequels almost always just repeat the formula of the original, but “Bill and Ted’s Bogus Journey” largely throws out the time travel antics of “Bill and Ted’s Excellent Adventure” and goes on a bonkers adventure through heaven and hell featuring evil robots and an alien named Station. (Runner-up: “Addams Family”)
Tumblr media
COURTESY OF PARAMOUNT
1992: “Wayne’s World”
On the surface, Wayne and Garth (Mike Myers and Dana Carvey) are clones of the dim-witted headbangers Bill and Ted, but “Wayne’s World” has more of a satirical edge than the “Bill and Ted” movies, with Wayne providing fourth-wall breaking commentary throughout that mocks filmmaking cliches. I’m a big “Saturday Night Live” fan, and this was my gateway to the show. My friend, Caleb Ring, had a camera and we recreated scenes as “Caleb’s World” and “Alec’s World.” Maybe they still exist in a dusty box somewhere. (Runner-up: “Reservoir Dogs”)
Tumblr media
COURTESY OF UNIVERSAL
1993: “Jurassic Park”
At 10 years old, I remember a mixture of excitement and nervousness about seeing Steven Spielberg’s adaptation of Michael Crichton’s sci-fi novel about a dinosaur theme park gone awry. I wanted to see, but would it be too scary? I vividly remember sitting in a darkened theater watching the T-Rex attack. I was scared but also mesmerized by the groundbreaking dinosaur effects. It was also my introduction to Jeff Goldblum, and he has made my life better ever since.   (Runner-up: “Mrs. Doubtfire”)
Tumblr media
COURTESY OF MIRAMAX
1994: “Clerks”
“Clerks” wasn’t my first introduction to writer/director Kevin Smith (that was 1999’s “Dogma”), but working at both a convenience and video store, the plight of its New Jersey clerks spoke to me. I would even write my own script set in a video store that years later I would convert into a play that was performed in a New York theater festival. Last year, I was lucky enough to interview Smith and tell him that. (Runner-up: “Pulp Fiction”)
Tumblr media
  COURTESY OF DISNEY
1995: “A Goofy Movie”
Goofy has always been my favorite Disney cartoon character. This movie is significant because it is the first movie review I ever wrote. It was an assignment for sixth-grade English. I received an A, which sent me down the path to where I am today. It still remains one of my favorite movies for its strong father-son story, offbeat humor and the excellent songs by the fictional popstar Powerline. (Runner-up: “Before Sunrise”)
Tumblr media
COURTESY OF DIMENSION
1996: “Scream”
Growing up, I wasn’t a horror kid. I was more likely to watch the Muppets take Manhattan than Jason. But by 1996, I was already a fan of Mel Brooks and Monty Python and had a growing understanding of parody. The idea of “Scream” being both a satire and an example of the slasher genre intrigued me. The humor made the scares more palatable and piqued my interest into further exploration of the horror genre. (Runner-up: “Jerry Maguire”)
Tumblr media
HOLLYWOOD PICTURES
1997: “Grosse Pointe Blank”
For years, John Cusack was my celebrity man crush because he was the perfect balance of vulnerability, sarcastic wit and nonchalant coolness. All of that is on display here as Martin Blank, a hitman who decides to go to his 10-year high school reunion. Also, I often discover music from movies, and this film’s killer soundtrack (pun intended) introduced me to a lot of great punk and New Wave music, including The Clash’s “Rudie Can’t Fail,” The Violent Femme’s “Blister in the Sun” and The English Beat’s “Mirror in the Bathroom.” (Runner-up: “Good Will Hunting”)
Tumblr media
COURTESY OF PARAMOUNT
1998: “The Truman Show”
Like many ’90s kids, I became obsessed with Jim Carrey’s style of comedy. I drove my family crazy shouting catch phrases like “allllll righty then” and “ssssssmokin’.” But ‘The Truman Show” was different. It was still funny, but in a more subtle, satirical way, and showed that Carrey had dramatic range. I was 15 when it came out, and it made me feel clever that I was able to pick up on the film’s commentary. (Runner-up: “The Wedding Singer”)
Tumblr media
COURTESY OF FOX 2000 PICTURES
1999: “Fight Club”
My love of social critique and satire continued to grow with “Fight Club.” I clearly remember watching “Fight Club” in a theater and my jaw literally dropping upon getting to the big twist. Not many people saw “Fight Club” in theaters, so my friends didn’t believe me when I said it was great, especially since I couldn’t explain why without spoiling it. It’s a film that not only holds up to repeat viewing but benefits from it as there are Easter eggs hidden throughout. (Runner up: ”Dogma”)
Tumblr media
COURTESY OF COLUMBIA PICTURES
2000: “Almost Famous”
Around this time, I made a decision that I wanted to be a film critic, so Cameron Crowe’s autobiographical film about a teenage rock journalist in the 1970s hit me in all the right places. The protagonist is an awkward, geeky kid in love with and in awe of the rock world and that was me with movies. When I became a journalist, I only learned to love this movie more for everything it gets absolutely right. (Runner up: “High Fidelity”)
Tumblr media
COURTESY OF UNIVERSAL
2001: “Josie and the Pussycats”
There are absolutely better films that came out in 2001 but I continue to stand by this silly satire of the music industry and consumerism. I’ve been a defender of this film since it came out. I even had the poster up in my college dorm room. It did not make me cool but, in a just world it would have. The original songs are genuinely great, and the cast, especially Alan Cumming as a villainous record label flunky, is perfect. (Runner up “The Royal Tenenbaums”)
Tumblr media
COURTESY OF UNITED ARTISTS
2002: “Igby Goes Down”
Growing up in rural Maine, I didn’t have access to a lot of independent films, but that changed when I went to Keene State College to study film. Keene had two theaters that showed indie films: The Colonial Theatre and the on-campus Putnam Theatre. “Igby Goes Down” was one of the films I fell in love with while at KSC. It’s essentially a modern riff on “The Catcher in the Rye,” but with a more likable lead played by Kieran Culkin. There’s also an amazing supporting cast, including Susan Sarandon, Jeff Goldblum, Bill Pullman, Claire Danes, Ryan Phillippe, Amanda Peet and Jared Harris. (Runner up: “About a Boy”)
Tumblr media
COURTESY OF LIONSGATE
2003: “Shattered Glass”
While at Keene State College, I was able to go to collegiate journalism conventions. At one of them, there was an early screening of “Shattered Glass,” which tells the story of Stephen Glass (Hayden Christensen), a journalist who fabricated dozens of articles while working at The New Republic. The film instilled in me a desire to be an ethical journalist with integrity. It also has one of my all-time favorite lines: “If I were to throw a party where all we did was play Monopoly, would you guys come?” It’s absolutely something I’d say. I just wish that it wasn’t said by Glass. (Runner-up: “Lost in Translation”)
Tumblr media
COURTESY OF WORKING TITLE
2004: “Shaun of the Dead”
Edgar Wright has become one of my favorite directors for how perfectly constructed all his films are. His first film, a zombie movie set in England that he co-wrote with star Simon Pegg, is the ideal genre blend of horror, comedy, romantic comedy and drama. This is the first film in what became dubbed the Cornetto trilogy, a trio of genre-bending films directed by Wright and starring Pegg and Nick. While it is mostly played for laughs, the dramatic moments hit hard every single time. (Runner-up: “Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind”)
Tumblr media
COURTESY OF DREAMWORKS
2005: “Wallace and Gromit and the Curse of the Were-Rabbit”
I was already a big fan of the stop-motion animation Wallace and Gromit shorts, so I was thrilled the English human and dog duo were making their feature film debut. I was in England getting my master’s in journalism at the University of Westminster when the film was in theaters. I went to visit my friend Natalie Toy in Hull to see it, and watching a film that is so thoroughly British in England is a memory I cherish. (Runner-up: “Batman Begins”)
Tumblr media
COURTESY OF SONY PICTURES
2006: “Stranger Than Fiction”
This is a film that takes a high-concept — a man (Will Ferrell) suddenly finds his mundane life the subject of a voice-over narration only he can hear — and executes it with humor, heart and intelligence. A dialed back Ferrell gives one of his best performances, and he’s surrounded by a great cast, including Emma Thompson, Dustin Hoffman, Queen Latifah, Tony Hale and Maggie Gyllenhaal. The film features some of my favorite romantic moments, including Ferrell playing and singing “Whole Wide World” on guitar and giving “flours” to Gyllenhaal’s baker character. (Runner-up: “Little Miss Sunshine”)
Tumblr media
COURTESY OF DREAMWORKS
2007: “Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street”
Tim Burton’s film adaptation of Stephen Sondheim’s musical about a vengeful barber (Johnny Depp) and his partnership with the baker Mrs. Lovett (Helena Bonheim Carter) was my first introduction to the material. While liberties were taken, Burton was the perfect person to transition it from the stage to screen. I immediately fell in love with it. I’ve since seen it on stage three times and had a Sweeney Todd movie marathon with my friend Brian McElhiney in which we uncovered other obscure versions of the story, including one from 1936. (Runner-up: “Juno”)
Tumblr media
COURTESY OF WARNER BROS.
2008: “The Dark Knight”
Christopher Nolan's second film in his Batman trilogy is the strongest and is not only one of the best superhero films ever made but a great film regardless of genre. Heath Ledger’s Joker is an iconic film performance for the ages. His performance is the glue that holds the film together, but the rest of the cast, including Aaron Eckhart as Harvey Dent, and the slick storytelling proved that a comic book movie could and should be taken seriously. (Runner-up “Iron Man”)
Tumblr media
COURTESY OF PIXAR
2009: “Up”
Pixar has a history of making animated films that make adults cry, but with “Up” they weren’t messing around. The first 10 minutes, which shows the entire course of a relationship, has the power to crack even the most stone-faced viewer. The rest of the film is the charming adventure of a balloon salesman (Ed Asner) who attaches thousands of balloons to his house so he can fly to the mythical Paradise Falls. This film will always have a special place in my heart because it was the theme of my wedding. Adventure is out there everyday with my wife, Ashley.  (Runner-up ”Inglourious Basterds”)
Tumblr media
COURTESY OF UNIVERSAL
2010: “Scott Pilgrim Vs. the World”
Director and co-writer Edgar Wright’s adaptation of Bryan Lee O’Malley’s six-part graphic novel — a pastiche of comic books, video games, anime, romantic comedies, rock musicals, sitcoms, kung-fu movies and even a dash of Bollywood — immediately spoke to me. I became obsessed. I read the books, played the games, bought the toys, listened to the soundtrack and even got a tattoo of Scott Pilgrim and Ramona Flowers. I connected with it in a way that put it alongside my childhood favorites. As I get older, it only becomes more emotionally resonant. (Runner-up: “TRON: Legacy”)
Tumblr media
COURTESY OF SONY PICTURE CLASSICS
2011: “Midnight in Paris”
My relationship with Woody Allen films has become a complicated one. What he may or may not have done in his personal life colors his work, but can you separate the person from the art? I have to because so many of his earlier works helped shape me. This whimsical time travel comedy with Owen Wilson hobnobbing with literary and artistic idols in 1920s Paris is Allen’s last truly great film. It is a funny and thoughtful exploration of nostalgia. (Runner-up: “The Muppets”)
Tumblr media
COURTESY OF MARVEL
2012: “The Avengers”
Marvel Studios experiment in creating a shared universe of superheroes paid off with Joss Whedon’s “Avengers,” which brought together Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.), Captain America (Chris Evans), Thor (Chris Hemsworth), the Hulk (Mark Ruffalo), Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson) and Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner) for the first time. For better or worse, Marvel has continued to further expand their cinematic universe and experiment with serialized storytelling in film, but this first crossover event still holds up and is wildly entertaining. (Runner-up: “Looper”)
Tumblr media
COURTESY OF WORKING TITLE
2013: “The World’s End”
This the final installment of co-writer/director Edgar Wright’s Cornetto trilogy, a series of genre homages starring Simon Pegg and Nick Frost. “The World’s End” lampoons alien invasion films but is also a surprisingly sincere exploration of alcoholism with Pegg’s Gary King trying to recreate the best day of his life: a pub crawl he did with his friends as a teen. This is Wright’s third film on my list. I adore his storytelling and visual style. Everything is carefully constructed and paid off. Plus, I regularly quote the “Let’s boo-boo” line from his film. (Runner-up: “Pacific Rim”)
Tumblr media
COURTESY OF FOX SEARCHLIGHT
2014: “The Grand Budapest Hotel”
Idiosyncratic filmmaker Wes Anderson has a style all his own, including eccentric characters, deadpan humor, absurdist flourishes and a mise-en-scene in which everything is framed symmetrically. “Grand Budapest Hotel,” which centers on the misadventures of a hotel lobby boy (Tony Revolori) and a concierge (Ralph Fiennes), is possibly the most distilled version of Anderson’s particular brand of filmmaking. Anderson embraces the ridiculous and finds the beauty in it. (Runner-up: “The Lego Movie”)
Tumblr media
COURTESY OF WARNER BROS.
2015: “Mad Max: Fury Road”
Director George Miller returned to the “Mad Max” franchise 30 years after the previous installment, but this is not a shameless cash grab. This is pure action filmmaking of the highest order. “Fury Road” is a visceral, nearly non-stop chase. But this isn’t faceless or mindless action. The film has personality to spare, including a character playing a flame-throwing guitar. As there’s little dialogue, this is also an example of strong visual storytelling. (Runner-up: “Inside Out”)
Tumblr media

2016: “La La Land”
After coming out of “La La Land,” I posted this on Facebook: “For anyone who has ever created something, done something artistic or has simply been passionate about something, ‘La La Land’ will speak to your soul.” After seeing writer/director Damien Chazelle’s exuberant, funny and ever-so-slightly heartbreaking musical about a jazz musician (Ryan Gosling) and an actress (Emma Stone) trying to find success and love in Los Angeles, I wanted to create. I began rewriting an old script that would eventually be performed in New York City in 2018. (Runner-up: “Yoga Hosers”)

COURTESY OF MARVEL
2017: “Thor: Ragnarok”
This is my favorite film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe thanks to director Taika Waititi providing a much-needed tonal shift to the Thor (Chris Hemsworth) character. Waititi is a quirky filmmaker with an offbeat sense of humor that managed to shake things up at a time when the Marvel formula was starting to become a bit too familiar. “Ragnarok” remembers that comic book movies are supposed to be fun. It is colorful, funny and ridiculous, but also has strong character moments. Plus, Jeff Goldblum at his most Goldblumiest.(Runner-up “Baby Driver”)
Tumblr media
COURTESY OF WARNER BROS.
2018: “A Star is Born”
Co-writer/director/star Bradley Cooper’s “A Star is Born” is the fourth filmed version of the story of a fading star meeting and falling in love with an undiscovered talent (Lady Gaga), and using what pull he has left to make her a star. The first 30 minutes are pretty much perfect and the rest of the film builds on that promise. I’ve only seen the film once and I can still vividly visualize scenes and the emotions attached to them. (Runner-up “A Simple Favor”)

COURTESY OF COLUMBIA PICTURES
2019: “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood”
Writer/director Quentin Tarantino is one of my favorite filmmakers. I even taught a class on him for the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute. “Once Upon a Time,” Tarantino’s love letter to Hollywood in 1969, is basically a hang-out movie centered on a has-been TV actor (Leonardo DiCaprio) and his stuntman (Brad Pitt). In the background, Tarantino offers a revisionist history of the Manson family. It’s rich with location and character detail, and is both hilarious and unexpectedly poignant. (Runner-up: “Booksmart”)
Tumblr media
COURTESY OF WARNER BROS.
2020: “Birds of Prey and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn”
Margot Robbie’s portrayal of Harley Quinn was the best thing in 2016’s “Suicide Squad,” but this film is what made Harley one of my favorite DC characters and led to a further exploration of the character. Robbie is joined by an assortment of strong female heroes, including Black Canary (Jurnee Smollett-Bell), The Huntress (Mary Elizabeth Winstead) and detective Renee Montoya (Rosie Perez) to face off against the sadistic Black Mask (Ewan McGregor). This is the first comic book film directed and written by women, and the strong female perspective makes it unique and vital. (Runner-up: “Freaky”)
Tumblr media
COURTESY OF SONY PICTURES
2021: “Ghostbusters: Afterlife”
As previously mentioned, “Ghostbusters” has been a huge part of my life, so I was thrilled when this long-awaited second sequel was announced. (For the record, I do genuinely love the 2015 remake). While the original ghostbusters only make a cameo appearance, this is a loving tribute to the late Harold Ramis (who co-wrote the first two films and starred as Egon) that passes the torch to a group of kid ghostbusters led by the amazing Mckenna Grace. This is nostalgia done right. Plenty of laughs, action and, yes, tears. (Runner-up: “The Mitchells Vs. the Machines”)

2022: “Everything Everywhere All at Once”
This completely bonkers multiverse adventure is difficult to describe but is a fully engrossing mix of sci-fi, martial arts, comedy and family drama. It is a terrific showcase for Michelle Yeoh, Ke Huy Quan and Stephanie Hsu. Its sincerely sold themes of optimism, kindness and love gives it weight and heart. Quan was in “Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom” and “The Goonies” in the 1980s, but hadn’t acted in 30 years. He’s so good here, it makes me sad that we missed on decades of performances from him. (Runner-up: “Glass Onion”)

Can you rank the parents of shatter me series? From best to worst. Please?
This is such a fun question. Let's go!
✨Best to Worst.✨ I'll only list the parents who have made an appearance. Lena might have a Dad, but we don't know that, so let's keep it simple. And this is just my opinion, feel free to pitch in your two cents if you have stuff to add or dispute.
(This got quite long, so I'll add a keep reading.)
I think the best parent of the Supremes is Castillo. (Nicolás and Valentina's father). We know barely anything about this man except that ✨he's from Argentina.✨ However, the reason I'm putting him on top is because Valentina is trans and considering how good of a transition she seem to have, he's definitely supportive. If he didn't like her being trans he probably could have wiped her brain over and over, erasing her identity; but he didn't! Gold star!
Next up is Omondi. (Stephan's father.) He's just here. We don't know anything about him. I guess he sent Stephan to England to receive an education, which is really weird because there are plenty of options in Africa that would also result in an English accent. (cough, Mafi why did you even have to do that??, cough). Thanks for coming Omondi. This is the point where we descend into the bad parents.
Third is Tatiana Mishkina. (Lena's mother.) Abuse-wise, she doesn't seem that bad. Lena has a scar on her leg, but we don't know where she got it. We don't hear anything about Lena's home life except that Tatiana and Anderson wanted Warner and Lena to get together. When they broke up I assumed she got upset because Lena was upset. The reason she's third is because she allows her daughter to be openly transphobic and that's not cool. You'd think she'd try to stay on good terms with Castillo, but she doesn't seem to care.
Now here's the thing. I was pending between putting Max and Muza third worst. Because in a way, Max revoked his parental rights as soon as Ella was sent away. After that his daughters became experiments. I don't think he sees himself as a parent anymore. Emma and Ella become tools for Evie, and he's there to support Evie. Muza on the other hand, is still actively raising his children, and that's almost worse in my mind. Like, if you're going to call yourself a parent, you need to step up. You have all the resources of Asia at your disposal, how is your son suicidal?! In the end I decide that Muza is better, because he at least cares for the (physical, not emotional) well-being of his children. He wants Nazeera and Haider to be returned safely to him. (Surely to wipe their minds afterward, but it's for their own good you know.) Then he shoots Nazeera's plane out of the sky, but you know she can fly so she was fine...! 😄
Max. I don't care if she killed your wife, you don't offer to pimp out your daughter, MAX.
Second to worst is Paris Anderson. I had to keep reminding myself that my fanfics aren't real. That, in canon, he was ready to drop a bomb on James, he beat the crap out of Adam as a child and he did, and does, all kinds of things to Warner. However, in a strange way, he believes what he's doing is what's best for Warner. He wants him to become a strong, ruthless leader that will rule the world once he steps down. He wants to see Warner have a life, succeed, and goes quite the lengths to assure his survival; unlike our last point on this list.
✨Evie Sommers. ✨ She created a pair of daughters for the sole purpose of using them to take over the world. They are tools to her, and they're not permitted to have control over their own lives. She turned Emma into a jellyfish. She let approved the plan of letting Anderson lock up Ella into an asylum. Then she tortured her. She even let them have a normal life beforehand, with pancakes, bikes and strawberry picking, which is almost worse imo! If you're going to do science on your kids, do it the Stranger Things way.
And that's all of them! I hope you enjoyed :)
Thank you so much for the ask~!

________
2012
Tumblr media
“Stephen!” Principal Warner crosses both arms after yelling out loud for the millionth occasion this semester. Overhead lighting beams all across the football field and its nearest areas.
Once again, delinquent high school senior Stephen Holder lights up one of those poisonous cigarettes while standing under hard line bleachers. Across this railed section of metal gate, other students cheer on a team that barely wins games.
Not even caring, Stephen blows another drag and fumes these vapors towards Warner's aging face. By now, almost everyone located on school grounds knows better than to keep debating this kind of behavior, regardless of campus guidelines.
Without gaining an education, Holder surely would’ve panhandled on dark Seattle streets as a homeless student. At least either one of his parents cared enough to drop him off each morning, even if parent-teacher conferences weren’t rosy.
“What’s your problem? I’m not smoking near the football players.” Holder stubs his cigarette onto the ground, patting down its ashes with his sneaker. He’d wanted kicks like Jordans for years, but these discount shoes were all Mom could get now.
“Why not stop hiding and pick up snacks from our concession stand? You haven’t even watched the game, Holder.” Principal Warner tries to boost his mood and grin towards Stephen, but the young man only scoffs in return.
“Come on. The only reason people show up to football games is because there’s nothin’ else to do, Warner. For real. Besides, basketball here gets more attention since we ain’t swamped after midterms.” Stephen rolls his eyes, telling the truth. He’d much rather watch basketball anyway.
“Visiting the games gets you kids away from these damn phones, too.” Warner lifts his own cellular device and remembers how much his own teenagers scroll through bullshit every single day.
“Whatever.” Holder says. He’s brushed off Principal Warner comments before opening a bag of chips and sitting down not far away from the bleachers.
Oh, well. I’ll try again next time. Warner thinks, moving away to leave Stephen alone.
________
The team lost this time around, but you still don’t care. As long as tickets stayed cheap enough to attend these games almost every Friday, you’d be happy.
For just about two hours, homework didn’t leave your brain scattered, snacks were plentiful, and you could dance along with the cheer squad, laughing regardless of how cheesy you felt.
While enjoying your last slurpee of the night and heading towards your car to drive home, someone clears their throat out of nowhere.
You turn around, wearing a school spirit t-shirt. Another classmate had given this shirt to you after it shrunk in the dryer one day.
“Oh, hi.” You pause mid-stride and lift this slurpee cup after recognizing Stephen Holder. He’s sporting a hoodie with jeans and sneakers. His blondish is swept to the side as usual.
“Hey,” Stephen clears his throat awkwardly without keeping a cigarette between long fingers. He fidgets and pockets both hands into his sweatshirt, looking quite restless in one way or another.
You’ve heard many rumors about him and his family, but there’s no room to judge like other people around here.
“Is everything okay?” You take out your keys and unlock the car. Lights of this vehicle brighten Stephen’s pale face for a moment.
“Yeah. I just…” Holder trails off his words as soon as another car pulls up not far away. Music gently plays from the radio before someone lowers its dial and rolls down the window.
“Stephen!” A man almost yells out loud from the driver’s seat and unlocks that passenger side door. Stephen is left with no other choice but to leave you alone until next time.
“Oh, bye.” Stephen clips the farwell, hardly waving goodbye to you.
“Bye!” You wave and smile back regardless. Someone probably needed to pick him and rush home before darkness loomed everywhere.
On the other hand, you slide into the driver’s seat of your own car and pull off, heading home to cool down from this amazing night at the game.
______
“Sorry for being late, kid. Your mother’s still working at the hospital and I just got off work myself.” His father sighs once more and Holder fights an urge to roll both eyes.
Dad gives the same excuse every semester. Stephen thinks to himself. He only shows up if Mom is busy, not because this man actually cares about the kids.
“It’s all good.” Holder puts a backpack in the spare bedroom of this small apartment and turns around to face his Dad. “Good night, Pops.”
“Good night, but are you sure that you’re not hungry? Ordered up some pizza earlier if you want some.” Dad points towards the fridge, but Holder shakes his head.
“No, thanks.” Holder refuses once more and slumps into the extra bedroom, closing the door behind him.
______
To Holder, this spare bedroom is now his only saving grace found in Dad’s apartment.
Athletic or music posters lined almost every wall. One small basketball hoop is clipped behind the door. A decent television has mounted nearby. Both doors of the closet align outfits, shoes and hoodies. Thankfully, Stephen’s own bed is comfortable and there’s still enough space that fits everything for homework.
After lining up his cell phone to charge and turning on this cornered desk lamp, Stephen organizes essentials and clicks one pen, ready to complete homework assignments early.
I’m graduating, dammit, even if I gotta crawl across the stage. Holder gives himself that reminder once again and focuses, dreaming of college acceptance letters.
Stephen can’t let you down, either, someone who’s actually proud of the school.
______
By the following week, Stephen already feels like he’s standing on top of the world.
He’s aced quizzes in class, completed homework without struggling much beforehand, and even Principal Warner hasn’t bugged him in days.
While he didn’t rush through this gate to attend this week’s football game, Stephen  dares to visit the concession stand first and orders snacks.
Other classmates gasp in surprise as Holder carries popcorn and a drink before walking towards his favorite end of the bleachers.
For once, more people smile than frown near him, however fleeting their own expressions might be.
______
“Stephen!” You wave almost frantically while holding another slurpee in your opposite hand.
“Hey, Y/N.” He reveals your name and gestures for you to move closer towards the bleachers without spilling that beloved drink.
“You’re in a much better mood.” You complement Stephen and sit near him, cornered away from the large crowds.
“Thanks, girl. An advisor said that If I keep this up, I’ll be back on track for graduation.” Holder responds while facing you. He’s giving out the first true smile in weeks, looking joyful.
“Good. I’m not walking without you, either.” You encourage him. You tonight might not have always bonded with Stephen like great friends, but you still looked out for him.
“Deal.” Stephen promises. “Now, let’s see if we’ll win tonight.”
_________
“You don’t drive?” You ask Holder the question after zipping up his hoodie and standing in the parking near your car later that night.
“I’ve had my license for a while, but I can’t afford a ride of my own yet.” With consent, Stephen has looped his arm around your shoulder to beat Seattle chill as fall arrives. “Maybe I can drive alone before college.”
“I’m sorry.” You pout, genuinely sad for him. In the few classes you’ve had left with Stephen, you know how bright he truly is, but home life still isn't too great compared with you and others.
“Don’t trip, Mama. It could be worse.” Holder shrugs. You unzip his sweatshirt and want to return it before going home, but he then stops you midway.
“Oh,” you struggle to speak for a moment . “What?”
“Keep it. Please. It’s freezin’ tonight.” Stephen notices how chipper the air feels, even without snow falling outside just yet.
“Really? Thanks.” You smile towards him. Stephen thinks that you look cute in his hoodie regardless, having put it on during halftime.
“No problem.” Stephen clips those two words just as headlights of his father’s truck loom in the distance.
“See you soon.” You say goodbye and go your separate ways again as Holder leaves you behind.
****
After meeting up during football games and returning home separately almost every week, you and Stephen finally change plans. Not long after another game ends, Stephen drives your car out of this lot. You turn up the radio, jamming.
Because of the late night hour, you and Stephen resort to sitting back in the car after picking up takeout.
As long as street lights beam outdoors, both of you have peace of mind before heading home.
“What do you wanna do after graduation?” Stephen is sitting across from you in the passenger seat again and corners himself to somehow eat without making a mess in your car.
“College. To be honest, I want to get out of here as soon as possible.” You offer the truth and have dreamt of studying under palm trees.
“I’m not even sure where I’ll go for college, but applying for scholarships still ain’t easy, girl.” Stephen answers you between bites of his meal from the styrofoam box.
“Don’t worry, you’ll find a good place to go.” You encourage Holder once more and smile, finishing your meal first.
“Thanks. Ready to go? I’ll drive us back.” Stephen makes an offer again and smiles once those takeout boxes are settled away.
“Sure.” You nod, thankful that Holder is respectful enough to be careful this evening. At the wrong time, anything could’ve happened.
____________
More football games. More late-night food. More joy.
Months later, when graduation finally ends the semester, you want to cry.
Not only is Holder standing right in front of you, dressed in his well-earned cap and gown, but he looks adorable, smiling like a kid who just found Halloween candy after school.
“My cap still doesn’t fit right.” Stephen pouts. The tassel swings and covers his eye. Even then, he prepares to give you the best hug and soon kisses your cheek. You can’t help giggling.
“I don’t care.” You smile in his arms, grateful as he rocks this embrace back and forth.
“Stop hugging. I’m about to gag.” Linden, a brilliant redhead who kept your  connection with Stephen quiet until now, jokingly whispers before moving along to see members of her own family.
Even both of Stephen’s parents are here, waiting and actually proud. Unfortunately though, Holder’s sister Liz hadn’t shown up with nephew Davie because she couldn't afford to fly through.
“Got a surprise for you.” Stephen talks again after moving away from your hug and gives your an envelope.
“What, did you find enough money that’ll cover my tuition?” You joke and wink towards Stephen before opening the envelope.
“No. Sorry, Baby Girl.” Stephen shakes his head, but ends up smiling anyway. He’s kept this surprise away from you for weeks and only his parents know.
“Dear Mr. Holder, it is with great pleasure to announce that…” Realization washes over your entire face and you don’t need to finish the letter’s opening statement.
It’s an acceptance letter. Stephen has wanted to secure his own placement with one of the Criminal Justice programs forever.
“C'mere." Stephen hugs you from behind before the letter can fall out of your trembling hands. Words cannot express how proud you feel.
No matter what happens in the future, at least you’ll have each other now.

Season 3 segment names solved
Alright, let me get to the bottom of all of these segment names once and for all. Literally, I have figured out almost every single segment name for the season, with near 100% certainty. This post will contain the biggest
SPOILERS
I've ever posted on this blog.
(It’s not really that spoilery, though, just the same thing you’ll see when you log into Hulu to watch season 3. Episode descriptions and titles.)
I went digging myself on ui.eidr.org, where many of the leaks originally came from. I was able to match the episode titles with the descriptions we now have of the episodes to definitively say which is which.
I would like to credit this ask for prodding me to look deeper into this.
Episode 1 is "Previously On/Season 3 & WB/How to Friendship"
Tumblr media
Previously On will likely be a lead-in to Season 3 & WB, recapping what happened in the season 2 finale.
Episode 2 is "Soda-pressed/A Starbox is Born/Royal Flush"
Tumblr media
I know this because the title "Royal Flush" matches up with the description of "Brain plans to rig a high stakes poker game to become the new Kind of England". Now look at the first description for this episode. That's right, the influencer episode is not "Teeniacs." It's "Soda-Pressed." I was reluctant all along to say for sure that the teen influencer episode was actually "Teeniacs", and it turns out I was right to be skeptical.
Episode 3 is "Planet Warner/Talladega Mice: The Ballad of Pinky Brainy/D.I.WHY?"
Tumblr media
So "Planet Warner" has nothing to do with aliens or Warner creatures and is actually the segment about a day on the Warner Bros. lot.
Episode 4 is probably "Fantasy - Cold Open"/"Über Nachtmare"/possibly more
There are only 9 complete episode titles listed out of 10 for the season, so I had to piece this one together out of random segment names that didn't have a home in any other episode title. This one has by far the most uncertainty. "Über Nachtmare" is the segment with Scratchy and Wakko in the car together.
Episode 5 is probably "Teeniacs/Starbox & Cindy: Dog Days/Groundmouse Day Part One"
Episodes 4 and 5 have no descriptions. I put this episode here through the process of elimination, and because it stands to reason that "Groundmouse Day Part One" would be in the episode immediately before "Groundmouse Day Part Two"/"Groundmouse Day Again". This episode could just as well be episode 4, though.
"Teeniacs" actually probably is the one with older Dot, which is what I thought in the beginning, but we got led astray. Full circle speculation.
Episode 6 is "Animaliens/Murder Pals (Part 1)/Groundmouse Day Again/Murder Pals (Part 2)/The Island of Dr. Warneau/Murder Pals (Part 3)"
Tumblr media
This one has two different titles on EIDR, with the biggest difference being that "Groundmouse Day Again" was alternatively called "Groundmouse Day Part Two". I have no idea what Murder Pals is.
Episode 7 is "The Wrath of Khan/Lawn in Sixty Seconds/All's Fair in Love and Door"
Tumblr media
Don't have much to say about this one. I did guess that "All's Fair in Love and Door" was the PATB alternate reality one, based on the trailer clips.
Episode 8 is probably "WARnerGAMES/Starbox & Cindy: Bedtime/WARnerGAMES 2/Crumbly's Moment"
Tumblr media
This one is weird. There are two episode titles with "Starbox & Cindy: Bedtime" in the middle. The other one is "Ready Warner One: Part One/Starbox & Cindy: Bedtime/Ready Warner One: Part Two". The "Ready Warner One" title was created months before the "WarnerGames" title, so my theory is that "Ready Warner One" was recently renamed to "WarnerGames".
Episode 9 is "How the Brain Thieved Christmas Part One/Santamaniacs/How the Brain Thieved Christmas Part Two"
Tumblr media
Looks like a fun Christmas episode. I find it interesting that Brain is "desperately" trying to take over the world. Is he realizing his time is running out, or just sick of all the failure?
Episode 10 is "International Mouse of Mystery/Aliens Resurrected/Joe/The Stickening/Slappy's Return/Everyday Safety: Giant Adirondack Chair"
Tumblr media
The global warming segment is "Aliens Resurrected" or "Joe", and it does sound like aliens are threatening to destroy Earth unless Yakko convinces them otherwise with a song. Animaniacs ends with "Everyday Safety: Giant Adirondack Chair", which is either fitting or disappointing. I'm really curious to see how they turn that into an ending. Slappy returns in the finale, but it doesn't seem like her segment will be very long.

Why Pinky is my Favorite Animaniacs Character (Day 2 of Pinky Week)
(Quick note: This was supposed to come out yesterday, but due to an unforeseen conflict in my schedule, it had to be postponed to today. I've updated my upload schedule to extend an extra day to Pinky Week, therefore ending it on 3/18 rather than 3/17.)
Hi everyone! So, I decided in honor of the upcoming mysterious announcement from the Animaniacs Twitter plus it being Pinky’s Narfday, to dedicate an entire week on my Tumblr blog to talking about Pinky! That’s right! For 7 whole days, I’ll be talking about the different aspects of Pinky from his character to some of my favorite moments to explaining his relationship with Brain. I’m going to be covering it all. The unofficial beginning of Pinky Week was the post I made on Saturday, so go check that out for a start to the week! Also, be prepared for Brain Week, which is on its way in about 18 days . That will follow a similar formula, but will be better planned out. Alright, without further delay, let's begin! Happy Pinky Week!!!!
Tumblr media
(sorry this looks like crap but it's my official picture so)
3/13/23- Why Pinky is My Favorite Animaniacs Character:
2020-2021 (also known as the Warner Age): When I first started watching Animaniacs in 2020, I, like every other newbie to the fandom, latched on to the Warner Siblings. I just loved their comedic energy and adventures and couldn't get enough of it. I especially enjoyed Yakko, admiring his fast-paced energy and quick innuendos to a massive extent. When I finally watched the first 25 episodes of the original Animaniacs, I was ecstatic to see the Warner Siblings on my screen to be watched over and over again. Heck, when I first saw the trailer for the reboot, I solely focused my attention on Yakko, Wakko, and Dot, ignoring the other things entirely. I still had an appreciation for Pinky and The Brain and Slappy Squirrel, but I didn't think Pinky and Brain were all that funny (most of the jokes went completely over my adolescent head). I liked the mice because I thought their plans for world domination were cool and I found the plot of each segment interesting. Boy, the times have changed since then. I still had a large amount of respect for Pinky and Brain, but nothing else. The Warners were still number one. I even planned my first fanfictions around them. Unfortunately, I didn't have Hulu at the time, so watching the rest of the franchise was out of the picture. I had to rely on Animaniacs content from YouTube in order to experience the siblings. For the reboot, I watched song compilations and clips; I didn't even know what Brinky was for a long time. Regretfully, in early 2021, I took an extended hiatus from the Animaniacs fandom, returning back to Disney from March of 2021 to September of 2021. I'd occasionally make glances back at the Warners, but I wasn't that involved anymore. That was until some things re-kindled my appreciation for the fandom and started some new admirations: one video, two gay laboratory mice, and a fanfiction.
September 2021-November 2021 (the return)- One day, I was in a very crappy mood, so I decided to watch an Animaniacs video. It was the best decision I'd ever made. It instantly made me fall in love with the franchise and characters all over again. However this time, I fell in love with a certain duo after realizing that maybe, they weren't so bad after all. After discovering Fanfiction.net, I started reading a Brinky fanfiction. I instantly fell in love with the idea of the two being together, especially as someone who was questioning my own sexuality at the time. I started to watch Brinky compilations on YouTube, and I fell in love with the ship even more. When season 2 of the reboot came out, I found myself basically forgetting my previous obsession with the Warners, and began to dedicate my time to the mice.
December 2021 (Pinky gets personal): Then, I began to watch season 2 again, and I realized that I was connecting to Pinky in a personal way. I admired his love for Brain, his dedication to being kind, and how he didn't care about how others perceived him, rather he wanted to be himself. He showcased his gender non-conformity in an amazing way and no one judges him for it. It is taken 100% seriously with Brain not criticizing him for his wants. Pinky also doesn't care about how his sexuality will be seen as. He just wants to show his admiration for Brain in passionate ways, not caring if the latter doesn't desire these actions. I felt so secure whenever I watched him on T.V, like he was comforting me and protecting me from the troubles of the world. Sure he was inane at times, but that didn't matter. I still admired him and cared about his feelings and relationship with Brain. I was going through a tumultuous time during this period. My best friend abandoned me for a new girl after I'd came out to her. I was feeling super lonely and Pinky helped to aid in those woes. He'd make me laugh so hard I'd start crying and would fall to the floor. His voice brought a smile to my face and he could sing so well that I would start tearing up. While Brain served as someone I could relate to with his temperament, self issues, and dedication to those he "tolerated", I could relate to Pinky due to his emotional views and struggles for appreciation.
January 2022-Now (Fanfiction, Tumblr, Season 3, and Pinky): A lot has changed since 2020. I've started writing fanfiction for the first time to modest success, I've joined an amazing community on Tumblr and now have over 40 followers (thank you guys, you mean so much to me!), and my admiration for Pinky has only grown. Season 3 was a true surprise with how much my love for this mouse increased. I related to him, I loved his loyalty to Brain, his affection for his friend was amazing, and Pinky was seemingly perfectly fine with dressing in female clothes and interacting with Brain in a non-platonic way. Also, I noticed a few things with the third season that made me very happy. Firstly, Pinky actually has a real/possibly serious mental issue that I also suffer from!! His anxiety and stress problems are highlighted in the episode "Talladega Mice" much to my and a majority of the fandom's delight. Pinky's anxiety attack was portrayed with such realism that it was almost surreal. In fact, a very similar situation had happened to me before. It was also handled in a very nuanced, yet comedic way, not only being relatable, but being hilarious. Pinky's ways of coping with stress are scarily similar to the ways I cope with stress (i.e. having someone talk to me in a silly voice, laughing, physical touch). It's kind of comforting. His relentless optimism also is admirable, even in a stress-filled situation. Another thing I notices was the fact that Pinky never mentioned a female love interest in any capacity during this season. In the previous two, Pinky is given a female love interest or mentions one. But in season 3, he focuses his attention on Brain. This kind of shows some character development, as Pinky seems to alter his affections from random female characters to his closest companion. I only noticed this change after re-visiting the series. Pinky really knows his priorities. After watching season 3, I loved Pinky even more than I had before due to his expanded character. This admiration only grows larger day after day.
Conclusion (Why Pinky is my favorite Animaniacs character): Many fans of Animaniacs latch on to characters like Yakko, Wakko, Slappy, or The Brain. However, it's quite bizarre that I decided to latch onto a character that doesn't go through a major character arc (Brain) or has a huge cult-like fanbase (Wakko). But yeah, Pinky is my quintessential comfort character; he's always a riot and manages to make me feel better on my worse days which I've had in abundance. He is one of the reasons why I've been staying on the franchise for such a long time because I've wanted to see more of him. Pinky's continuous love and support for Brain is so charming to see. He has a beautiful singing voice, a wide variety of humor that appeals to both kids and adults, and he manages to be one of the nicest cartoon characters I've ever seen (except for in Pinky, Elmyra, and The Brain. What did they do to him? Why is he so rude to Brain for no reason?). Pinky will always be my favorite Animaniacs character, no matter what. The ways he's helped me through hard times is something that other cartoons can never do. Brain is another character that I appreciate on a more personal lever, but his companion will forever have my heart and my pick as best mouse.
Ok, that got just a little personal at times, but I hope you enjoyed! And if you think I'm joking about anything I've said here, I'm not kidding. Pinky truly means so much to me and has helped me when my emotions spiral out of control. Alright, that's the second entry to Pinky Week! Stay tuned for tomorrow's post where I detail the evolution of Pinky from 1993 to today, talking about his changes in personality, appearance, and voice! Have a wonderful day and/or evening! Narf!

Well, my dear followers, I did not come empty-handed, but with new facts about my new characters that you love so much. This new fact will be about Belle and her friend Polly. Both mice have been childhood friends with one friend who is a gray squirrel named Slappy. Here is a photo where Polly and Belle (in the mouse version) were friends with Slappy (albeit in the form of a Gacha Club, but still).
Tumblr media
The girls had a great friendship until Belle, for some unknown reason, decided to take over the world. Polly immediately agreed to help her, because she did not want to leave her friend. But Slappy gave up on Belle's idea and walked away from them. It is known that Slappy is alive and has a nephew, Skippy, but it is not known what relatives she has. But there is one interesting fact. When Slappy first met Pinky and the Brain, she knew immediately that the two were descendants of her former girlfriends, but she didn't tell the boys that herself, because those two could have asked her about their grandmothers they didn't know when they were kids (but you know that Pinky and the Brain later found out about their grandmothers when they met them by chance in the world SCP, when Larry was alive). Slappy, when meeting Pinky and the Brain, pretended to see mice for the first time in her life. And yes, if Slappy ends up in the SCP world, then she would probably reunite with her friends and have a photo of them like this.
Tumblr media
Slappy herself can be seen in "Animaniacs 1993" and "Animaniacs 2020" (only in the first (end of episode 5 called "Good Warner Hunting") and third (last episode called "Slappy's Return") seasons) and "Pinky and the Brain" (in the very last episode of the very last season called "Star Warners").
Slappy's date of birth in my AU is November 9, 1923.

Dumb Luck- Steve Harrington x OC
Steve Harrington x Ella Warner
Description: Steve has been acting weird, and Ella is surprised when she finds out the reason why.
Word Count: 2.2k
Steve had been acting weird lately. Like, really weird. And that was saying something considering who he was friends with and everything that had happened to him since becoming friends with them. This wasn’t a mind controlling Mind Flayer type of weird or anything like that, he was just…different as of late. He was just being distant.
Steve loved to touch Ella. It was just how he showed affection for her - he always needed to be touching her in some way. When she cried he always cradled her face as he dried her tears, when she was scared or nervous he’d hold her hand or have an arm around her. When she was upset he would wrap her in a cocoon-like hug that always helped her feel better. Even when nothing was happening he would be touching her via hand holding or something similar. It was his way of showing her that he was there when words failed him.
That wasn’t to say that Steve stopped showing her affection altogether, it was just a rare occasion when he spent the usual amount of time doing so. Ella could count on one hand how many times Steve had touched her for more than a few seconds in the last few weeks alone. Not only that, but his heart wasn’t as into their conversations anymore. Steve was a very emotional person and he always put his heart and soul into just about every conversation he had. That didn’t seem to be the case lately though.
It was worrying Ella. Any time she wasn’t in his presence she would rack her brain in an attempt to figure out what could be going on. She went over any small thing that he’d said to her lately to see if it would clue her in, but she came up short. As far as she was aware, things were fine with his friends and family, and he was still happy with his job at Family Video. So, what was wrong? She had no idea, and she didn’t know if that scared her more.
“Oh, you guys will never guess what I got today,” Wendy said excitedly. She, Robin, Steve and Ella had been hanging out at her house lounging around on the couches all day, trying to keep cool from the summer heat. The others couldn’t help but laugh at the randomness of her exclamation as she picked up her bag and rummaged through it. After a moment of searching she made a noise of triumph and pulled out a VHS tape, allowing the others to look at it.
“Return to Oz?” Robin read aloud incredulously.
“Hey, it’s a good movie,” her girlfriend defended.
“It’s creepy,” Ella shot back, shivering dramatically. “God, those Wheeler characters gave me nightmares.”
“What is it?” Steve asked curiously, making the girls look at him.
“Hold on, you’re telling me that you work at a movie store and you haven’t even heard of Return to Oz?” Wendy asked, feigning annoyance as she glanced at her girlfriend. “Can you believe this guy?”
“The absolute gall,” Robin added while shaking her head disappointedly. Ella giggled at the interaction, and Steve looked like he was ready to smile at the sound, but he quickly forced it down. The girl’s laugh faded quickly and she looked away.
“Well, how about a movie night?” Wendy suggested, cutting into the awkward silence that almost fell upon the group. Robin grinned and nodded.
“Great idea. Steve, go to the convenience store at the end of the street and grab some snacks for us.”
“What? Why me?”
“It’s my girlfriend’s house, I’m not leaving her, and Ella didn’t drive here,” his friend answered simply with a shrug. The boy groaned, but stood up. He slid on his jacket and grabbed his keys then stayed in the living room long enough to press a kiss to the top of his girlfriend’s head before making his leave. All three girls watched as the door closed, then as soon as it clicked shut Ella looked at her friends.
“Can I ask you guys something?” She asked.
“Does it have something to do with the fact that Steve’s been acting like a weirdo the last few weeks?” Robin retorted, earning a nod from the girl.
“Do you know what’s going on?”
“I was hoping you’d know. You’re his girlfriend after all.”
“I don’t know,” she groaned, leaning back in her seat defeatedly. “Do you…you guys don’t think he’s going to break up with me, do you?”
“What?” Both girls exclaimed in shock. Ella shrugged defensively.
“I’ve spent so long trying to figure it out and that just feels like the only logical explanation.” Robin looked at her girlfriend anxiously. Wendy, knowing that Robin only rambled when she didn’t know what to do or say, decided to take the lead.
“Ella, honey, I think that you’re automatically assuming the worst because you’re so worried about him, and don’t get me wrong there’s nothing wrong with that. It’s okay to worry about him because yeah, he’s acting really weird, but you’re overthinking and that is making you believe that he doesn’t love you anymore. And that in itself is absolutely ridiculous. I’ve never seen someone look at you the way that Steve looks at you. Like, he looks at you like you hung the stars in the sky. Steve loves you, everyone can see that. He may just be going through something at the moment that he doesn’t want to tell you yet. The best thing you could do is just be there for him and remind him that he can talk to you if/when he’s ready.” Ella sighed as she mulled over her friend’s words, then ultimately nodded.
“You’re right, thanks Wendy,” she responded with a weak smile. The girl offered her a reassuring smile, then once Ella turned away she fist bumped Robin. All of them faced the door when it opened again.
“Honey, I’m home,” he joked as he set the bags down on the coffee table. The girls flocked around the table and began going through them. A bright smile appeared on Ella’s face as she opened a bag and noticed a bag of Reese’s Cups.
“They were having a sale,” Steve explained as he retook his seat. The girl’s heart fluttered as she looked at him. Maybe Wendy really was right; maybe she was just assuming the worst.
The rest of the evening went by normally - well, as normally as it could be given Steve’s behavior. Ella continued to receive mixed signals from him during the entire movie. He didn’t have an arm around her but he got up and got her more soda  without being asked when he noticed she was out. He barely held her hand, but he also found a blanket for her when she grew cold. It was weird and all the more confusing.
Once the movie was over Steve and Ella took a minute to help clean up before they said their goodbyes before heading out. The actions of inconsistent meanings continued as Steve both opened the door of the car for her and put in her favorite tape as they drove, but he inadvertently refused to touch her or really look at her that much. When they finally pulled up to her house, they just sat there for a minute. After a moment of neither of them doing anything, Ella opened her mouth.
“Steve…” she trailed off slowly, catching his attention. “You know you can talk to me, right? It doesn’t matter what it is; I just don’t want you to feel like you have to hide anything from me.” The boy looked surprised by her words, and he offered her an awkward grin.
“I know, babe,” he muttered.
“As long as you remember,” she muttered with a small smile, leaning over to kiss him goodnight only for him to pull back at the last second. Hurt and disappointment shot through her, and she tried not to cry as she turned away.
“Uh, goodnight,” she muttered dejectedly, but before she touched the door handle Steve spoke up again.
“Wait,” he said quickly, making her look at him. She waited patiently for him to figure out what he wanted to say. It was clear he needed a minute.
“I just…” he sighed, falling back against his seat. “It’s you.”
“Me?” Ella repeated, both offended and shocked simultaneously. The boy’s eyes widened when he realized how bad that sounded.
“Wait not like that,” he amended quickly. “I…I feel like I’m not enough for you.” Now the girl was just confused.
“What do you mean?” She asked, much softer this time.
“I mean, look at you,” he gestured vaguely in her direction. “You’re working your dream job, and you’re making some good money off of it. You live on your own in a nice house with no responsibilities and you’re comfortable with your life. Me? I’m twenty and still live with my parents while working an average wage at Family Video. I’m still best friends with high schoolers and have basically no friends my age. I just see you living your life and being happy, and I keep getting nervous.
And I don’t want you to think I’m jealous of your life or anything. I’m really not, I’m just…I’m scared of the day you wake up and realize that I’m not good enough for you. And not only that but I can honestly see a future with you and I want to be able to provide for you when you need it because that’s the kind of guy you deserve.” Ella stared at him in shock as he finished speaking. Out of anything he could have said, that wasn’t even in the top ten.
“Steve, that’s absurd,” she said after gathering her thoughts. “You wanna know what happened to me? Pure dumb luck. I have absolutely no idea how I got that job at Mythos because I definitely didn’t have the experience to do so. And I moved out on my own because I had to. My parents were getting close to unbearable and I knew that if I didn’t get out of there then I would just become bitter like them. I just happened to be lucky that there was a landlord willing to work with me for rent. Believe me, it wasn’t my first choice to move out straight out of high school. And those high schoolers? They’re my friends too. Robin and I may as well be sisters at this point and the kids come to me for advice when yours doesn’t follow through, which is much more often than you may think.” That elicited a laugh from Steve, which in turn made Ella smile. She carefully took his hand, lighting up when he flinched but ultimately didn’t pull away.
“My point is that I just got lucky with all of this. And I know not everyone gets that, but I think you did too. Sure, you work an average wage job and you live with your parents. But there’s nothing wrong with that, and you get to work with one of your best friends. As a matter of fact you have an entire friend group that has your back no matter what, and they know that you have their back. Even if they may be a little younger, they’re still a rad group of people that view you as their friend.
And as for you being enough for me, I know myself better than anyone else. That means I know what’s good for me and what’s not, and you are good enough for me. As long as you’re content with your life, that’s more than enough for me. It doesn't matter what you do or where you live as long as you’re happy. That’s all I want out of a partner, that’s all I want for you.” She squeezed his hand gently once she finished her rather passionate rant. Steve looked like he felt much better now as he nodded, and he lifted her hand to kiss her knuckles.
“Okay,” he muttered upon lowering their hands back to the middle console.
“And hey, if your living situation really bothers you that much, you can move in with me anytime you want,” she added nonchalantly with a shrug as she faced forward again. Out of the corner of her eye she noticed her boyfriend perk up.
“Wait, are you serious?” He asked, tone bordering on excitement.
“Sure,” the girl answered with the same enthusiasm. “I mean, we’ve been dating long enough for it to be acceptable to move in together. Besides, at least you won’t have to travel all this way just to pick me up for a date.”
“We could have more date nights at home,” Steve added cheerfully, which made her giggle as she nodded.
“Totally!”
“Let’s do it,” he said eagerly, now holding both of her hands while he leaned over the middle console. Their grins were infectious to each other.
“We can start tomorrow,” Ella responded. “As for tonight, why don’t you just spend the night? It’s getting pretty late.” Steve nodded in agreement, then pulled away to turn off the car and get out. As usual, he jogged over to her side and opened the door for Ella. They walked up the steps of their (future) shared house hand in hand, and everything felt right again.
