Slashers Playing Crusader Kings 2
-Herbert West would join the Hermetic group. His focus would be scholarship. I could see him looking for the Necronomicon if that event triggered
- Freddy Krueger would play the hell out of the Seduction focus. He would have a high kill count and sire lots of bastards. The first thing he’d build in his royal palace would be the royal bedchamber for seduction purposes. Golden throne? Nah fuck that, he’d have the skull throne.
- Michael Myers would have the Intrigue focus and also a high kill count. He would assassinate those who get in his way. He’d be less of a whore than Freddy, instead having a kid just so his character could have an heir.
- Bubba Sawyer would be all about diplomacy, and would have the Family focus. He’d have plenty of children and would fall in love with his SO in the game. He would have the Gavelkind inheritance so his kids could each have a portion of the kingdom, even if it means titles becoming independent as a result. He would expand through marriage and diplomacy, though if food supplies get low during a lockdown while an outbreak is in progress, he would have no problem eating rats and resorting to cannibalism. Unfortunately he may not understand why his subjects may think less of him because of it. If the twins get access to his save file, they’re going to go to war and save in the middle of it. As much as they love Bubba, they’re not above causing a little chaos for their own amusement and that includes fucking with Bubba’s diplomacy streak. When they play, though, it’s all about that murder, cannibalism, and incest.
- Thomas Hewitt may be less diplomatic than Bubba, instead being a Pagan warlord. However, he, too, would play with the family focus due to the importance of family in his own life. His wife, concubines, and children would be well taken care of and his empire would be vast.
- Otis Driftwood and Baby Firefly would do fucked up shit: cannibalism, satanism, murder, incest, pope seduction, and even the Prisoner Marriage mod. They would delight in the Omen event chain. If they forge a bloodline, it’ll be through bloodlust, resulting in the ability to create a cadaver tableaux.
- Jason Voorhees would have the hunting focus, and avoid the carousing and seduction focuses. He’d probably feel a bit awkward once he realizes that he loses if he dies without an heir. After all, if he’s gonna have an heir and win the game he’ll have to procreate and we all know what Pamela thinks about that. Also, Pamela would be in his head all like, “Yes, Jason, forge an empire for Mother.” He’d ki ki ki ma ma ma his way across the map.

Oh GOD you, too, are an online lectures geek pls consider this your invitation to talk about favs--ones that stuck with you, current obsessions--the more the better! In trade, I'll tell you the two things I'm currently adoring: Yale's Open Course podcast on The Civil War to Reconstruction done by David Blight (man forgot more than ten other civil war historians know even if he mumbles *constantly*) and A History of Christianity by Diarmaid MacCulloch (so! worth the Prime BBC free trial <3)
Hiya! Don't mind if I do!
So 99% of the lectures I've watched lately are on the Great Courses Plus which was recently and stupidly renamed "Wondrium", which I find profoundly stupid because instead of just saying, "Hey, check out the Great Courses, yeah you can kinda guess what the streaming service offers," I have to instead explain what this nonsense term "Wondrium" means, ANYWAY, they've got lectures about basically everything.
Essentially, it's Netflix but for college lectures. YouTube has become so unreliable as far as what's actual information and what's completely made up or even racist conspiracy theory BS that I find it completely untrustworthy. Also, most documentaries are trying to prove something new, or offer a new angle on something, OR they're SO rudimentary and 101 that even for topics I know less about in history I tend to already know everything they're going to say.
So I pivoted to college lectures because 1) it's a whole series so like, dozens of hours I can just throw on in the background while doing something mindless and 2) I know it's going to be trustworthy, reliable, and provide me a baseline on a topic instead of some "new controversial spin" on it. Like, goddammit, sometimes I just want to better understand the history of Ancient Egypt, not your stupid theory about how they were secretly all space aliens or that we've got the carbon dating all wrong or whatever made up nonsense.
So, here's a list of some of my favorites!
Hannibal: The Military Genius Who Almost Conquered Rome - I consider myself about as near an expert as a non-academic can get on Rome and this lecture actually taught me some things, which is rare, so I recommend it as a fantastic deep dive!
How the Crusades Changed History is a pretty good short version that I recommend to anyone who enjoyed The Old Guard's Nicky and Joe BUT, for the best Crusades lecture, I'd recommend this History of the Crusades podcast. Sharyn Eastaugh is not just insanely informative, but her dry wit made me laugh out loud at least once an episode at the sheer hapless ineptitude of the Crusaders.
In the Wake of the Plague is a fantastic new lecture by Wondrium, the lecturer is amazing and it provides a lot of objective insights into how humans react to plagues that is VERY relevant to current events, BUT their lecture on **The Black Death in general is the one that got me obsessed with their lecture series. I watched it in the first week of Covid lockdown and let me tell you, having this super in-depth, objective look into how people behaved during the Black Death was incredibly valuable (and chilling) going into those years because it all played out with astonishing similarity. Also, anything by that lecturer, Dorsey Armstrong, is awesome. She's a Medievalist of the highest order. I also recommend her lecture on King Arthur.
**The Birth of the Modern Mind: The Intellectual History of the 17th and 18th Centuries - this one wins the award for "Lecture I thought most likely to bore me to tears that ended up being the single most fascinating I've heard in YEARS." Seriously, the way it explores the evolution of how we think in the modern era, through the philosophers who first conceived of these ideas, was jaw-droppingly fascinating. I also recommend it to writers of historical fiction and fantasy for a crash course, by proxy, of how to write people who think differently than you.
The Other Side of History: Daily Life in the Ancient World - I once had beef with a post here on Tumblr that claimed that academic Classicists don't care about slaves or normal people during the Roman Empire, which is just profoundly absurd. I pointed out this lecture to them if they actually wanted to learn more about the subject instead of complaining that an art history professor may not have been prepped for a lecture about the lives of enslaved people in Ancient Rome. If that is a subject of interest, this lecture is great.
The Real History of Pirates - a must-listen for OFMD fans who want to get an introduction to historical pirates and the history of pirates in literature, which "Our Flag Means Death" owes as much if not more to than the historical figures.
**Turning Points in Middle Eastern History - One of the first lectures I listened to and still one of my enduring favorites. It's the first one I picked up for writing my Old Guard fic, Lights Out, when I wanted to write Joe from a more informed angle and I learned so much.
Understanding Japan: A Cultural History - One of my favorite lectures based on format, the lecturer picks a literary work or cultural concept as the entry point to explore the timeline of Japanese history. It's a fantastic way to give a wider and more holistic look at each era, pairing it with a cultural touchstone.
Shout-out to "The Mysterious Etruscans" because I just think they're neat. The lecturer is also very good and I highly recommend his lecture on ancient cities as well which taught me a lot that I didn't know.
Also a shout out to, "Warriors, Queens, and Intellectuals: 36 Great Women before 1400" for its subject and the lecturer who is great and she also has a really fascinating talk about the history of Spain.
Ok, I THINK that's some of the top ones! ;D

BSD Chapter 113 Historical Analysis
Basically, I can put my History and Religious Studies Degree and put that shit to use and do some good for society
Essentially, I think chapter 113 left us clues for hinting at the bigger themes of Bungo Stray Dogs and possibly some insight into Fyodor's motivation for being caught by Bram. This might get long so buckle up bitch.
OH AND I THINK I FIGURED OUT THE EXACT YEAR THE DUNGEON MEMORY TAKES PLACE
Okay, so the first thing to understand is the contemporary events mentioned in Chapter 113. The guards and Bram mention King Matthias, the Sultan, and the Holy Crusaders.
The Crusades, for those of you who don't know, are a series of so-called Holy Wars whose main objective was the "reclamation" of the Holy Land. However, not all crusades had this objective. There were several crusades within Europe itself. These wars, like the Cathar Crusade, were aimed at driving out paganism or "heretical” sects of Christianity. While the main Crusades happened centuries before the Dungeon scene took place (the first official Crusade happening in 1095) there existed later Crusades that often sought to limit the authority and scope of the Ottoman Empire. Which is also mentioned in the chapter with "Sultan"
Now the Sultan mentioned is Mehemed II, often referred to as the Father of Conquest. He was in power when King Matthias (Matthias was the King of Hungary and Croatia) ruled and often fought to expand Ottoman territory into the lands Matthias ruled.
Now, you know who else was a contemporary ruler? Our boy Vlad Dracul, the inspiration behind Bram Stoker's Dracula.
Now, Vlad Dracul was the ruler of Wallachia, which is basically Romania today. Now it is my belief that Bram Stoker. like a lot of characters in BSD, is inspired by the tale of Dracula and not the actual Bram Stoker. But, I think instead of using the character of Dracula, Asagiri is using Vlad Dracul (also known as Vlad Tepes) as Bram's inspiration. This is for two reasons. 1. The castle depicted in the manga is the same castle Vlad ruled from 2. Bram states that he wants Fyodor skewed like a little shrimpy on the grill. Vlad Dracul got his bloodthirsty reputation by impaling his enemies and leaving their heads on pikes outside his castle for several months at a time. In fact, I forget the exact quote, but a visitor of the castle during Vlad's reign said you could smell the decaying rotten flesh for miles before arriving at the castle. This is why Bram Stoker wrote Dracula based on Vlad Dracul.
Now as for the specific year the memory takes place, I personally believe it takes place in the year 1462, either summer or early fall. Once again this is based on the textual evidence given in the manga... The guards are clearly nervous about the sultan, who we have established is Mehemed II. This guy is responsible for the downfall of the Byzantine (or Eastern Roman Empire) and founded the Ottoman Empire. He also has beef with Vlad since Vlad brutally killed Ottoman envoys sent to Wallachia in an attempt to make Wallachia a vassal state for the Ottomans. Moreover, 1462 was the year that Vlad was imprisoned by King Matthias till his release in 1475. During this time Wallachia was essentially conquered. Vlad died between 1476 and 1477 (the sources don't have a specific date).
Now historically speaking there is reason as to why King Matthias imprisoned Vlad. A letter, which a lot of scholars think was made up, allegedly claimed Vlad pledged his allegiance to the Ottomans to help them conquer Hungary and Croatia. Now, strictly speaking for the events of the manga, having Bram imprisoned and/or taken out of power sounds like something Fyodor would do. So it makes sense that in the manga he would have something to do with Bram being imprisoned. If Bram is imprisoned that is to say since we still don't have clear motives for that.
It should also be noted that Fyodor warns Bram that the "Gods of Warfare come from the West”. historically speaking it was the Ottoman Empire that caused Wallachia problems and not the Holy Roman Empire aka the Romans mentioned in the chapter. The only reason I can think of the guards and Bram suspecting "holy crusaders" and "Romans" is because of their differing religious beliefs. Now Wallachia followed Orthodox Christianity while Romans obviously followed Roman Catholic traditions. Protestantism wasn't a thing yet, but these two groups were already tense and there have been several major conflicts (like the Crusades I mentioned earlier) and schisms within the church.
So, this is the only thing I could think of, but I'm not sure of what Fyodor's play is at here. Maybe he's an immortal being wanting to rid the world of abilities and having Bram Stoker in chaos would help in advance that goal. Maybe he can take people's life forces away like I've seen a lot of people suggest. I don't know. And the whole "come from the West" quote is the one thing throwing me off. Overall, I would love to know if Asagiri used any sources from the period to influence this memory scene, and if so...I wanna know which one's bestie!!
Please let me know what you think! If I just rambled or if my sleep-deprived thoughts and research make any semblance of sense. I would also love to know any fun theories and/or facts you have about this chapter or BSD in general. Also, would pictures be helpful?

I so normal I love a pony island 2
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Okay so from the details we know so far about Pony Island 2 it's compared more to "the Hex" than "Inscryption" BUT "there's a card game in there somewhere". What interests me a lot is the Earth Prison. My assumption is it's either an entirely seperate underworld OR it's the underworld under new management after the Crusader unknowingly broke the Devil out of the original Pony Island Arcade Cabinet.
Tumblr media
I believe this is the guy in charge now? I'm not well versed in Chinese mythology, but a quick search DOES reveal he's a real deity, a god of death.
Tumblr media
What interests me is the "Ten Kings of Hell" thing. Is it possible we're gonna meet those aswell? Could they be the new Daemons, or something similar?
Tumblr media
Core Files definitely continue to be a goal of ours, and HOLY SHIT, either we're gonna be seeing the original Daemons return, or perhaps this time the Ten Kings will act as the new protection system for the core files. I don't really expect any other DMG characters like P03 S-do or Rebecha to return since this is set in the underworld and they're, well, living world videogame characters. BUT there's a definite possibility we could see the Daemons make a return. Maybe some Gamefuna shenanigans could be afoot, though! I'm wondering where in the timeline this will all fit. Both Pony Island games seem a bit anachronistic - the first game had you play as a Crusader, and this one has you play as a Nomad, but in both cases the underworld is shown to be advanced enough to have it's own software and technology. Logically speaking, both games would probably be on the farthest end of the Mullinsverse timeline? I assume? So logically it'd be like Pony Island 1 -> Pony Island 2 -> Inscryption in development, Kaycee's burning -> The Hex -> Main Events of Inscryption. I'm so fucking hyped maaaaan I didn't even think Panda Circus would ever happen. I assumed if a Pony Island 2 were to actually be announced it'd be something else. It's really awesome to see how far the game's come since it's original reveal way back in Pony Island 1. Can't wait to see what Daniel Mullins has in store for this one

Baldwin IV x Fem!Reader x Saladin Smut part 2
Baldwin IV threw you on carpet. You whimpered in pain. Saladin noticing yelled at Baldwin IV and Baldwin IV apologized. You smiled at the young king knowing how difficult it is for him and how it really was accidental by him
"There is no way I am going to let him win." Baldwin IV took his sword and you looked at him in fear. You closed you eyes fearing the worst. Just then you heard a sound of cloth tearing. You looked down and noticed you bare breast exposed in front of two great crusading kings. You tried to protect your modesty but Saladin stopped you by pining both of your hands together above your head.
"Don't act modest. You sure weren't modest at thought of having sex with both of us"
You soon saw Baldwin IV leaning down. You gasped when you felt Baldwin IV giving you kitten licks on your left nipple. Saladin not wanting to loose started licking your right nipple. Both kings were licking your nipples. You felt shy feeling both rulers sucking, nibbling and licking on your nipples with Baldwin IV being shy and every once in a while staring shyly at your nipple. While Saladin was licking aggressively at your right nipple. Not able to control you moaned "Saladin".
That definitely got Baldwin IV attention and he stared at you in jealousy. While you could feel Saladin smirking above you nipple. Baldwin IV not wanting to back out started kissing your neck until he found your weak spot. Over there he nibbled and sucked it. You gasped, you could feel Baldwin IV continuing this action all over that area. Until you felt him moving away. Saladin growled and said
"Don't think making hickies will make you win this game"
"Watch me" replied Baldwin IV
He soon bent down and started licking your hickies. You gasped and moaned Baldwin's name. Just then you felt something thick and long entering your mouth
"I hate it when you moan another man's name" growled angrily Saladin
You were suprised with the turn of events you knew Saladin was rough but you weren't expecting this! You felt something below as well. You knew Baldwin IV was trying to push himself inside you. You were aware that Baldwin IV was virgin and hence shy, but that doesn't mean that the young teenage king would allow his shyness over power him
Baldwin IV moaned when you finally felt him enter inside you.
"It doesn't matter. You are a leper there is no way she could get pregnant by you. So it's okay you enter her. Besides you lack experience to satisfy women"
"She can't moan your name either since she is busy sucking my cock"
Baldwin IV felt furious and said
"That's what you thought about the Battle of Montigisard" "You never thought a 16 year old leper boy could cause you such devastation"
Baldwin IV roughly pounded inside of you so much that your hips shaked as he remembered that night. "I remember it took time for you to regain your reputation after that, just like that night. This night too you will loose your reputation".
Both men roughly pounded on you with Saladin taking your mouth and Baldwin IV taking your pussy. Just then you felt both of them cumming inside you. Both Baldwin IV and Saladin lay beside you as you fell asleep
"I believe she will choose me, I after all showed her. Who a true man is..."
That's the last thing you heard until you let sleep consume you

(Doll divine traces and the sunset one by me, blue shirt Razili and Bruno by @optimistic-violinist, Razili headshot and Razili and Bruno by @lvnamuraart)
Meet My and @optimistic-violinist 's Encanto OC, Razili Edel from Take Back the Kingdom (sort of)
Full Name: Razili Edel
Age: 37
Height: 5'2"
Eye Color: Brown
Hair Color:  Nearly black/ dark brown
Occupation: Pirate/Witch/Former Queen
Languages: Yiddish (first language), German, Hebrew, English, Spanish, French, Greek
Voice (and face) claim: Ofra Haza
Appearance: Light brown skin. She has long curly hair that she likes to wear down when practical. It’s usually not practical. She frequently wears it in either a single braid or a high ponytail with some sort of bandana. There is a scar on the bridge of her nose as well as one on her left eyebrow. Goes back and forth between skirts and loose fitting trousers and wears light colored long sleeved shirts with gathered cuffs and her stays on top. Her stays are nice enough she doesn’t usually bother with a third layer outside of her extremely recognizable purple pirate coat.
Relationship to canon: Bruno’s wife in our fantasy kingdom AU. It’s… complicated. Long story short, Bruno is immortal and is waiting for the kids to show up in the future, he doesn’t know when he sent them and 200 years in (including 150 years of fighting the conquistadors), he is very Not Okay™ and in serious danger of succumbing to his pretty much constant suicidal thoughts when he meets her.
General: Razili is at her heart a kind and nurturing person. However, she is also fiercely protective of the innocent/downtrodden and does not shy away from taking lives when she deems it necessary. She has lived through a lot of heartache but she doesn’t let it make her bitter. (In our AU magic comes from heartache but it’s only usable as magic if the person can be at peace with/accept the heartache. Razili is the one that taught Bruno this and helped him reconnect with his magic after being cut off from it for 200 years.) Due to her backstory and emotionally healthy outlook on life Razili is an incredibly powerful witch.
History: Razili is the youngest daughter of the king and queen of מקלט בטוח (Safe Haven (according to google, if anyone knows better please correct us)  Like the Encanto, Safe Haven is a hidden magical kingdom. It’s an island in the Mediterranean that was founded by Jews from Germany fleeing the First Crusade (1096-1099) by the time Razili was born they had lost a decent amount of the traditions of their ancestors. One of the things she did after leaving Safe Haven was reconnect with her Jewish heritage and faith.
When Razili was 25 she was the one member of the family (She had at least 2 brothers, we haven’t really fleshed her family out that much) to stay behind in case tragedy struck, which it did on that fateful trip, making her the next queen. She nearly married the son of one of her advisors but a week before their wedding she discovered that he and his father had been the masterminds behind her family’s deaths. Razili killed them both but as he was dying the son cursed Razili to freeze to the brink of death once a year for the rest of her life.
She ruled alone for a few years before picking a successor and leaving to travel the world. In 1698 on her first visit to the Caribbean she gets caught by witch hunters who are rounding up magic users to sell into slavery. This is where she meets Bruno who had also been caught. They go through a series of odd events together and end up as pirate co-captains. After the events of a fic we will eventually publish that includes a whole lot of character growth for Bruno, tracking down the witch hunters, angst, pining, UST, and a whole lot of denial on Bruno’s part, they get married.
There is sooooo much more to her that we are excited to eventually share. As for now Razili appears in the magic lesson chapter of Take Back the Kingdom, this valentine's day oneshot, and one of my entries for Encantober day 4: Cold

Black Royal Family, deaths and survivals
@funkyfrogwhore asked:
Hi! I’m writing a fantasy series with the primary cast of characters being POC. This particular submission is in regards to the Black characters. The series’ main driving conflict is colonization from a Catholic coded religious organization, and the royal family (the current generation of which is all Black) was converted a couple generations back. The primary catalyst event of the series is a coup overthrowing the queen and king following a religious crusade. I’ve been looking over this blog after seeing it recommended for sensitively writing characters of color as a white author and one thing I’m afraid of falling into in the beginning of the series is the abused Black people trope/Black one dies first trope.
For the first third of the first book in what I plan to make a trilogy, it appears that the oldest child, the son and heir, (aged 18) is the sole survivor of this coup. However, it is then revealed that the princess, his younger sister, (aged 17) survived as well, physically unscathed, and emotionally recovered for the most part. They were both taken in by lowborn people who had suffered at the hands of the church, (the prince’s group’s ages are 20, 22, 19, and 19, princess taken in by one man who is 20) which was heavily supported by their parents. The two siblings don’t reunite until the end of the first book, and the loss of their parents and the attempts on their lives during that coup are the only real violence they face throughout the series. The queen and king being overthrown and dying is intrinsic to the plot of the series (it’s the catalyst for everything else that happens). Their children regain power in the second book after they are reunited with their aunt, and the only real suffering they experience following the coup is emotional (pining for the lowborn romantic partners they fell for during the first book). I don’t plan on going into much detail about the coup (it’s told from the perspective of the prince who is out in the town incognito when it happens, so he’s away from the action). I want to be able to write these characters and events respectfully and in a way that isn’t triggering to Black readers. Any recommendations for that?
Hi! Focusing on your Black characters and not other plot aspects of the story:
This does not read as highly violent or full of suffering for your Black characters. They experience hardship, but it does not feel exploitative and has minimal physical impacts. It’s definitely unfortunate that the Black parents die, but 1) you do have prominent Black men and women 2) their deaths are highly plot relevant and are a catalyst for all the events to come. I’d say carry on with this story, sounds like you’re on the right track and doing an excellent job.
If other Black readers have anything to add or that this writer should keep in mind, please chime in.
~Mod Colette

look out it's a plot summary
the thought occurred to me that i'm over here rambling about a 600-page novel no one has read and it's the first book in a trilogy so if i'm going to be over here rambling about the second novel it might be nice to have a document i can reference during this shit storm. really ramble if i'm going to ramble.
only it started getting long so it's just going to have to be an ongoing project. it'll be like you guys are reading the book, but you're listening to the director's commentary instead.
Tumblr media
warning(s): this is an adult series. there is a time loop and a fixed point. main characters die several times. i follow two timelines, one of which is directly affected by said time loop: the 1872-1873 timeline, when sullivan met royston, resets in february 1873 and has "background" reset action happening that is affecting the characters' behavior; the june 1874 timeline is a Bad Ending that takes place when sullivan has about 24 hours left to live. because of all the dying and time looping, none of the three main characters remember the same event the same way ever.
i have had a headache since september 2023. come enjoy a headache with me.
we're going back to september 1872 for this headache.
september 1872
sidenote: the novel starts in june 1874, because i'm a hack who wrote a first draft with one flashback and no recognition of the existence of a time loop. i'm starting the summary when royston met sullivan so i can thoroughly bore you with the intricacies of the looping.
so 1872. september. 38-year-old first sergeant cole sullivan & 39-year-old surgeon-major erik hofer are stationed with the rest of their regiment at fort sarras*, kansas. they are in the u.s. army 10th cavalry, which is historically a pretty cool regiment.
a leavenworth analogue; we are in an alternate-history au where the u.s. has a military presence and settlers west of the mississippi river, but it's been with france's blessing the last few decades [no louisiana purchase] and with a leadership change france no longer wants america in their territory.
i thought it would be fun to base the alt-history setting on a cursed crusader kings 2 game where we lost an entire country and then saw western civilization both barely and completely changing at the same time. it's really lazy world-building and it was initially meant to support a much darker ending, so idk if it's really necessary anymore and it's something i go back and forth on on the regular.
anyway hofer is there with his family--wife clara, an obstetrician-midwife, and their 4.5 children. remember her for later. this novel was originally 200-smth pages, did not exist as part of a trilogy, and hofer didn't exist, i didn't mean for her to have such a small role in book 1 i love her.
sullivan begins the timeline with a mystery on his hands: someone derailed an army train carrying 50 head of horses and stolen eight of said horses. no personnel aboard were injured, and sullivan had orders in his pocket not to pursue the outlaws--this ends up killing him, in a sense, as he would have needed to have immediately gone after the horse thieves to have prevented anything that happened next.
i've run that scene (which isn't in any finished drafts btw i wrote the prelude for my own information NOT EVERYTHING YOU WRITE NEEDS TO BE WRITTEN FOR OTHER PEOPLE) several different ways and even in a world where sullivan would disobey a direct order and either send himself or a scout, the only person who doesn't get sensed and shot in the head at 100 yards by the horse thieves is sullivan. but then he gets in trouble for abandoning his post, since he's supposed to be at the train derailment site, not gallivanting through the prairie.
in town, he finds no one is willing to discuss what happened or who they think might have done it. he ends up in local shithole saloon, the pig & whistle, on the afternoon of thursday, september 5th, and begins talking to buchanan "buck" yeats, a 69-year-old former miner and current gossiphound who knows everything about everyone.
sullivan still wears spurs in this timeline. if you're reading this you probably know more about horses and cavalry history and the entire western genre than i do. if you're on my level and don't know shit about horses, you can learn why this is such a big deal in chapter 1.
then he meets 44-year-old arthur royston, who is not aware of why he does what he does next. we see royston go from chilling with the gamblers in the smoky back corner of the saloon to beelining across the bar to introduce himself to sullivan*.
*this behavior confused the shit out of me for 2.5 drafts. i'm about to reveal how little actual skill i have as a writer. i'm just a monkey banging on a keyboard. royston was intercepting sullivan when i wrote this the first time and it felt purposeful. being as royston was not working with the horse thieves in this version of the story, i did not know why.
well now i know it's bc he and sullivan are seeing each other again after going through a whole other novel. in this particular scene, if my argument is that i'm showing you the route that they're locked into going into book 2, they had to return to this moment bc it was the furthest back they could get thrown and have it matter w/r/t stopping emil powell, who we don't meet until 1874.
whole other novel. they started going together in october 1872, so they were together for eight months when royston pushed him off the train the first time. then they were separated for a year bc of army red tape and royston not knowing how to write, back together for less than 24 hours, half of which sullivan was rightfully pissed off at him. like... royston came to find sullivan, and it may have been for creepy evil obsessive reasons the first time. then he became possessed by a spirit that causes men to pursue the thing they want most in the world and the thing that royston wanted most in the world was sullivan. so everything in draft 1 worked out happy accident style whether or not royston was there out of love or bc he was solely after sullivan in an objectification way.
but it meant something to sullivan that royston made the effort to find him. and then they died LOL.
and that is what is going on with The Vibe at the beginning of the first flashback chapter.
are you still reading? if you're still reading i'm still going.
anyway buck tells sullivan (and by extension royston, who has bought sullivan a drink to force the hand of whoever is planning to attack sullivan and accidentally imbibed the poison himself*) about the huston brothers, led by notorious confederate army officer calvin huston. we learn calvin is rumored to have died during the War, and his bereft widow, delilah, pleaded to whatever god would listen to bring him back to her.
*re: memory retention between loops
according to the post it note map on the back of my door, the first run through the loop resulted in a TPK. nobody remembers doing this the first time, but bc i'm an asshole, physical proximity to sullivan, who is a fixed point, allows anyone who was on the path with him before to recall information with prompting.
royston does not remember that someone poisoned sullivan the first time, but he does know sullivan is important and someone is going to try to hurt him, so he runs over to try and intercept sullivan from buck, who we learn much much later was responsible for sullivan's being poisoned the first time, whether or not buck was complicit.
when they had to do the loop again, they reset in october. so they only did september twice. which is sad for them bc september looked like fun.
according to buck, whatever del did worked, and now she's got a contract out with a spirit--to keep cal alive as a revenant, del has to clothe him in the skins of former northern soldiers.
Tumblr media
"Ah, yeah, I always forget that part." Buck took a thoughtful sip of his beer. "Anyway!" -- September 1872
we also learn from buck that cal's middle brother, lon, has a vendetta against royston. back in charleston in 1868, lon purports royston cheated at a game of cards. when royston refuted the allegation, lon insulted him, flipped over a table, and hit himself in the face with a lit oil lamp. he no longer enjoys the use of his right eye.
Tumblr media
i cannot tell you how happy it makes royston when sullivan calls him a "scoundrel" and would prob get banned if i attempted to
as if summoned by the sound of his own name, lon arrives with his older brother frank and his 18-year-old baby brother nate. they antagonize royston, who is succumbing to hemlock poisoning, and sullivan won't stand for it. they trade shots, and royston uses a throwing knife to kill the bartender, who was approaching sullivan with a shotgun. sullivan has to carry royston out of the saloon after shooting lon in the shin.
Tumblr media
"You saved me," Royston through chattering teeth. Fading, and still running his damned mouth. The man was a wonder. "I didn't do much more than stand with my thumb up my ass and watch you hit Nate Huston in the head with a beer bottle."
i actually can't stand them.
next time i'll be rambling about a chapter one other person on the planet has read, and that's the one i jokingly refer to as "the aftercare scene."

Jojo OCs as TV Tropes Part 2.
Eris Raitt
1. Goth Girls Know Magic - A Stand user with frightening power, all the while covered head to toe in form-fitting black leather, gold and dark makeup, golden jewelry, fishnet stockings, silver chains, and a dark personality, making her a magical goth chick.
2. Supernatural Fear Inducer - Thanks to Enyaba's Stand arrow, she gained a Stand power named [Nephthys], after the Egyptian goddess of darkness and mourning, and it has the terrifying ability to make physical hallucinations of a victim's phobia and insecurities for the sake of murder.
3. Would Hurt a Child - Has absolutely no qualms in hurting anyone of any age just to satisfy DIO's wishes and fulfil her missions, this is more prominent in her debut arc when she accepted the mission to kill Kakyoin, a member of the Joestar group who is legally a child.
4. Yandere - She is unhealthily devoted to DIO and would do anything to please him, seeing him as her King, believing that having one's blood sucked by him as an honor, and gets jealous of anyone taking his attention away from her, which explains her rivalry with Medea.
5. Soft-Spoken Sadist - Much like her Master, she's a sadistic woman with a voice so soft, soothing, and raspy whenever she calmly speaks, which makes here even more terrifying. This kind of gets subverted whenever she gets angry, however.
6. Cold-Blooded Torture - Literally used [Nephthys] to torture her fellow Glory god Oingo just to demonstrate her Stand's power to her targets, showing no remorse in traumatizing him. She also did the same thing to a Cafe employee earlier just because he gave her his phone number.
7. Beauty is Bad - Apart from her foul personality, she is described as being a very attractive Egyptian woman, so much so that even some of the agents and denizens who aren't scared of her fell head over heels for her, this of course was before she scars them for life with [Nephthys].
8. Vampire Harem - Was once part of this two years prior to the events of "Stardust Crusaders", she was originally supposed to be DIO's next meal before finding Enyaba's Stand arrow, thus making her a Stand user. She still wishes to have her blood sucked by him, however.

Spitballing a Fire Emblem Jugdral mod for a Paradox Grand Strategy game + Some Alt History Ideas
This idea originally started off as thinking about a Europa Universalis 4 mod since that's the only paradox game I've played, but thinking about it later, Crusader Kings is almost certainly a better choice. I just don't know the mechanics as well so what follows is mostly alt history ideas with some EU4 mechanics that I think exist in some capacity in CK. The primary religion of most of Jugdral would be something resembling either the way different Islamic Schools work in EU4, or like Hinduism with every nation being locked into choosing patron Deities representing the founding Dragon of that country. Cult of Loptyr would exist in a few scattered provinces.
Grannvale would probably be something resembling the HRE, with Belhalla as The Emperor. Their heir dies at war with Isaach, and a regency council is implemented for Belhalla given Azmur is too sick to rule. This council would comprise of Reptor, Lombard, Arvis, Ring, Byron, Claud.
Chalphy would have a unique mission tree and events to subjugate surrounding territories and incorporate them into the Empire's territory, and Sigurd would be heir for the earlygame, with insane general stats. Event would fire giving him Consort Deidre of unknown Dynasty. Verdane probably has razing mechanics so Horde-esque government. Agustria probably has Eastern tech or some kind of boost to cav to infantry ratio. Artillery probably get represented by Mages depending on tech group and Archers (which are worse) are what you get if you don't have the right tech.
If Sigurd succeeds in subjugating Agustria, a event will fire with most members of Grannvale declaring a coalition war on Chalphy, Silesse will ally Chalphy but be having a pretender war rebel problem that has to be sorted out first.
Winning that war triggers the event where Arvis assassinates Sigurd and Revokes the Privilegia. Gen 2 then follows as you'd expect with state religion being changed to Cult of Loptyr for the Empire, and this leading to a revolution with Seliph at the head of it.
But, more interesting than this is the potential for alt history. What if Sigurd dies early?
Well, presumably, Grannvale descends into a Civil War. If Veltholmer comes out on top, the same broad plot will unfold, Arvis will just have to finish the subjugation missions himself before Gen 2 can fire.
If another Grannvale Duke wins, then we'll assume Julius has been born already and Manfroy takes him away. Manfroy can then start his own revolution with Julius at the head, and Julius himself would not be Literally Just Loptyr at this point, so he'd take a similar role to Seliph. There might be some kind of event chain that could be used to delay him falling to Loptyr possession, because it could get pretty interesting if he hasn't consolidated power yet but changes state religion to the Cult, you could get another internal conflict, possibly between him and Julia (religious league war).

Love the designs in the new comic! How would Richard's later years look like in the AU?
I actually haven't thought about how the boys would look like or what their lives would be outside of my Humorously Recreating Historical events--especially since the timeline is very compressed so everyone is basically speedrunning 30-40 years of Events in like 1-2 teenage summers lol. I wrote a lot of thoughts below (also going into overthinking of How Burger King Universe even works), TLDR the binary is he'd either be a Dead Teen who rocked out a little too hard and made the wrong random person mad or he'll grow up and become a completely normal guy with no relation or connection at all to the historical Richard the lionheart aside from that tumultuous period, but to do so one has to exit the story I make in my head hahaah
Burger King Edgyverse : In this verse it would prob sort of be one of those really edgy teen narratives that follow the Richard timeline of he goes to the crusade concert, has massive interpersonal drama stemming from the 10000 personal and familial issues that escalates and catastrophizes all the relationships, goes home, tries to fix things, continues to have massive drama, maybe comes close to fixing it but then ends up dying really randomly out of some weird karma situation IDK maybe it's like the legend where some kid who he forgot about HATES him and then idk hit him with their car or smth on Châlus street while he's busy beefing. And then everyone is finally like damn.....he was a hot mess but he did some cool stuff so now we are all going to watch his videos and think Abt his life from another angle recontextualized and we now think he was cool now (PR internet movement gets built up. ). idk I'm a bitch who loves weirdly anticlimactic tragedy so that's one universe.
Kind of is my processing and sticking to the main points of the historical Richard life which always struck me as very Dramatic and almost cyclical, which Is very fun for me. Idk there is something very "cursed" about all the family members and their ends and relationships so following up with that (in a more modern sensibility way) is fun to me.
ALTERNATIVELY:
I also thought about...what if characters in the Bk universe aren't cursed to that eternal return...idk. I had a funny thought earlier like that Geoffrey in BK universe doesn't die, he just becomes self-aware of and chooses to exit bc he's tired of the bullshit hahaa (tv equivalent of actor having to leave the show). In my mind, for the Narrative, some people do have to die, namely in my mind Junior does die in BK universe and shifts the mood from haha sillie goofy conflict to more strained and bitter. After all it IS an AU. Maybe BK Richard can leave being "Richard" timeline behind and be just a guy in an unrelated story who grows up past the predetermined historical event timeline parallels and can be a normal person with average life sort of thing. But that's beyond my scope since I'm mostly interested and focused on reinterpreting specific dynamics in that timeline, and deviating too much is when characters feel less AU and more distant and become different People to me (which would be the point...the historical figure must die for a person to live? Idk.
I know this feels like a weird distinction to make, and prob plenty of ppl probably see my delusions and think it's ALREADY so deviant but its more internal like in my mind I like having specific connections to historical stuff even if it's a weird tangled thread heheh. In general though, all is in good fun.....it's late so I may write later so apologies if this makes no sense at all but thanks for reading this far if u got it hahaah

Spoilers to GW2 story... Commander Deserving Gredit?
I have been wondering why does the Commander get most of the credit of defeating world threats. It’s clear that the Commander simply could not do everything alone. Their friends have saved them from death, was it in the actual game mode or the story.
Then again, I think in many scenarios the NPCs are supposed to revive the player character if they were down, but have been glitched due to time or some other reason and don’t do anything. Making it so that the Commander have to survive alone. ^^
Destiny’s Edge was famous of defeating Elder Dragons’ champions, but so far they have not managed to kill an Elder Dragon. In fact, their guild has not been active ever since they lost two people in their last Elder Dragon fight.
Then they discover this player character, that manages to impress them one way or another. With their guide, the player character begins explore world and learn more about it as well as the Elder Dragons. While doing so, we learn that the in-game-Commander is
1. Curious (points of interest)
2. Enjoys the beauty of the world (Vistas)
3. Likes to train their mind and physical being (Hero Points)
4. Doesn’t Like To Waste Time (Waypoints)
5. Likes To Help People, No Matter How Minor The Task (Hearts and Events)
I don’t know if Zojja or Trahearne, or Rytlock likes to run around the world doing these same things, but since the Commander does, he gains positive reputation from people by doing this. While at the same time in the story works his way up by overcoming the problems at the time and getting to be known by different titles and ranks.
Like with the asura, the first title earned was Snaff Savant.
With the charr, they were first Soldier, then Legionare, and then finally Centurion.
With human The Hero of Sheamoor and then the Advocate of the Crown.
With norn Slayer of Issormir.
And with sylvari the Valiant of the Wyld Hunt and then the Herald of the Pale Tree.
Then the Commander gets into an order, and climbs up the ranks quite quickly.
With Durmand Priory they are first Novice, then Explorer and then finally a Magister.
With the Order of Whispers they are first Initiate, then an Agent, and then Lightbringer.
With the Vigil, they are first Recruit, then Crusader, and then finally a Warmaster.
After they have formed the Pact, they gain the title they are mostly kown as: the second in command: The Commander of the Pact.
After cleansing the Orr, the King freed will temporary give the Commander the title of the Champion of Orr.
Now, here the NPCs say a lot that the Commander’s name will go down to history, hardly mentioning Trahearne, although he’s the one who actually did the cleansing. Maybe they mean it, that the Commander’s name AND Trahearne’s name will go down to history, but mention only the Commander because they are currently talking to them? ^^;
Now after Zhaitan got defeated, they gained the titles Destroyer of Zhaitan, Slayer of Zhaitan and the more general the Dragonslayer.
This was the very first time an Elder Dragon was killed, but because Trahearne wasn’t exactly with the Commander in this mission, he could not exactly gain the same title, although he was in a very important role still in all this. Destiny’s Edge was with the Commander. (Although they kinda come out of nowhere to people, who don’t play the dungeons, and ‘kind of’ for the reason that they were involved at the beginning.)
This was also the first Elder Dragon for the Destiny’s Edge. This also gave confidence to people, who weren’t that sure if something so powerful could be defeated.
So, the Elder Dragons have actually been fought many times in the past, but as soon as the Commander gets involved, the first Elder Dragon was killed.
If you asked me, the title Champion of Orr would fit Trahearne better, since he was the one who actually cleansed the Orr. While the Commander could have the Dragonslayer, since now that they were fighting an Elder Dragon with the Destiny’s Edge Zhaitan actually got defeated.
Even if Zojja was the one who shot the tail off, and the Pact shot him at his hand, injuring him to the point he had to land on a giant tower, the Commander was pretty much then just shooting at him, till his health was down.
You’d think others would have shot him too, and maybe they did, but only the Commander actually hit him. ^^; You’d think the Glory of Tyria airship would have the best shooters on it, but... - w -;
And I love how Caithe just kept running back and forth between her guild friends and the Commander. Probably a glitch, but I like to think she was feeling conflicted. XP
But I think the Commander did earn their title as the Dragonslayer, as well the reputation of a great hero. Yet, there were many who didn’t know who the Pact Commander was, still.
Now after this, we were now more confident about if the Elder Dragons were actually killable.
Trahearne did cleanse the Orr.
Zojja did shoot Zhaitan’s tail off and the Pact injured Zhaitan’s hand forcing him to land.
The Pact Commander shot him dead after he landed on the tower.
Next... the Commander decided to help two people, Braham and Rox, who they barely knew, and just because no one else would. Then was it Logan who sent the Commander to help Marjory and Kasmeer with the investigation. Then we get an invitation to the Queen Jenna’s Jubilee. The Commander was teh Dragonslayer, and Logan was a... friend of the Queen, so the Queen most likely had heard of them, and thought to invite them as a gratitude of killing the dragon, at least. Scarlet happened, and the Commander helps to save most of the people. But casualties were unavoidable, unfortunately.
Then we take care of the weird toxic tower in the Kessex Hills with Marjory and Kasmeer... And then the strange whirling flying object appears at the sky of the False River Valley, where we defeat with many others a giant marionette. After that Scarlet attacks the Lion’s Arch. The Commander helps a lot of people here as well, while also finally fighting the Scarlet herself and giving her the final deadly strike.
Now we have the title of a Hero of Lion’s Arch.
So now the Commander was known as Zhaitan’s killer as well as Scarlet’s killer.
With these new allies the Commander continues to investigate what exactly Scarlet managed to do. Did she really awaken another Elder Dragon?
Well, we did hear a roar as soon as Scarlet’s giant drill hit the lay line underneath Lion’s Arch. Soon after these strange vines start to appear at the Brisban Wildlands.
There we learn that another silvary had lost their mind and was now chasing the leader of these Glint fanatics’ leader. XP We take care of the sylvari, and I have to mention, that when he goes to that upper level while we fight him, the others don’t go there. Only the Commander climbs up to fight him there. The others pretty much fight the thorny vines at the lower level.
We plan to get the racial leaders to get together and talk about this threat, just so we more help with dealing with the Elder Dragon. And decide that since the Pale Tree really can’t go to other cities (imagine a giant tree suddenly starting to walk and be like, ‘I gotta go see the other leaders. See ya’ while the sylvari are still inside... ^^; ) So the leaders arrive to the sylvari home city.
But before that, the Commander has to help their friends to cajole the leaders to arrive at the meeting. It involves a lot of helping with the problems world wide.
Then comes the world summit, the Commander is the conversationalist in this situation, till the ale Tree gets attacked by the Shadow of the Dragon. Everybody else gets out of the Pale Tree except the Commander. They get trapped inside and has to fight the champion alone.
Alone? I don’t think they are alone. Even if the Pale Tree was injured, I think she still tried to protect the Commander by keeping the Shadow of the Dragon outside, where the others can keep on attacking it. And the Commander injures it from the inside of the Pale Tree. We chase it off and continue investigating.
This happening convinced the racial leaders that this new threat was very serious and could destroy the whole world.
The Commander takes part in finding Caithe from the desert with Canach, and we help the Pact to protect their base against te Mordrem attack, and we find the books in the Durmand Priory that opens the secret area where Ogden is. In the Glint’s lair the Commander pretty much fights themselves through, while Kas and Jory seem to casually walk around and have a conversation with each. other. At the end we fight off this giant crystal elemental, where Kasmeer gets injured, and Marjory fights with us. But because the Commander fought their through the Glint’s lair, they knew how to handle this giant too blah blah blah...
So in the end the Commander does a LOT. They are involved in every Elder Dragon fight, as well as the Lich King and Balthazar. They even help to take care of Minister Caudecus in season 3. while still taking time to admire the views, find interesting locations, and help other people.
Destiny’s Edge (Logan, Rytlock, Caithe, Zojja and Eir) was in the Zhaitan fight with the Commander.
Marjory, Kasmeer, Braham and Rox were in the fight against Scarlet in the final battle.
The Commander was kind safe inside the Pale Tree while fighting the Shadow of the Dragon the first time.
Second time, the Commander was trapped again, as if the Shadow of the Dragon somehow knew this individual was the worst threat out of them all. It somehow knew this Commander was the player character, so it had to try to eliminate them first. XP
The others were more like background supporters that threw stuff to the Commander that were helpful.
Little did the Shadow of the Dragon know that the player character never dies, at lest for good, as long as the developers keep developing the game. > w <
In season 3 Canach and Logan out of the major side characters were with the Commander in  the Minister Caudecus fight.
Taimi was with the Commander, but not exactly fighting, when we faced Balthazar for the first time.
In Path of Fire the Dragon baby and the Commander were fight Balthazar, and killed him for good. I guess you could say that Rytlock was the supporter now, because he gave the Commander his fire sword, the Sohothin.
In season 4 Braham was fighting the Lich King with the Commander, but were acting more like detractions for the baby dragon now as a teen could surprise him and attack... and eat him thus killing Joko finally.
At the fight against Kralkatorrik, it was Caithe, Braham, Gorrik, Taimi, Rox and Rytlock as well as Aurene (the dragon) were with the Commander fighting off the Kralkatorrik. If I remember correctly, the Commander was calling the shots and injured Kralk’s eye when had the chance. It all failed though.
But in the next episode the Commander and Aurene chase the injured Kralk through the Mists and finally manage to make it fall. We try to find a way to defeat him, till we finally realize, we have to go inside him to kill him. His body is dead, but he’s still somehow alive inside. So we enetr him through his mouth, find the power source, and find the consumed powers of Zhaitan, Mordremoth and Balthazar. The Commander destroys those with Aurene.
The Commander being the champion of Aurene, while we take on the two dragons, Braham becomes the champion of Primordus (Elder Dragon of Fire) while Rytlock’s cub Ryland now an adult becaomes the champion Jormag (Elder Dragon of Ice) and make them go at each other. While the two champions fight each other, the Commander weakens the two Elder Dragons, while making sure neither of the champions actually win, with others help. Especially Aurene’s. And after the two dragons were weakened enough and irritated enough they attack each other, destroying one another in the process.
One dragon remained.
We go to Cantha while fighting off the Aetherbaldes, while in the air going through the Mists again with Aurene. But we crash the ship.
There the Commander has to deal with political stuff as well as take care of very selfish man at the high rank with the man withe the hat. Then there’s Ankka, who plans on letting the Elder Dragon destroy the world. She was clearly suffering from some kind of depression and had reached a point where she felt nothing. She had become a sociopath.
Oh right, we fought Mai Trin again and also Scarlet in a way with Marjory.
And then finally, even if the final dragon was not aggressive, just like the other dragons she became corrupted, and started to act aggressive. We had to take care of her too.
This time a lot of people were helping. There were Marjory and Kasmeer, Logan and Caithe, Taimi and Gorrik, and Aurene.
The Commander was about to die at the pretty early state of this fight, which I find a bit starnge when you think of all the struggles hey have had, but one can use imagination and think of any reason why would the Commander be downed so early. Of course, because Aurene had chosen the Commander to be her champion, she’s not gonna let the Commander get killed. She does say, that if they try to fight seperately, they can’t win, but if they support each other they can win, and so she lends the Commander some of her power. The Commander returns stronger than before and is glowing.
Now, what I find interesting is that Joon and Taimi were already giving up. Were they in this state because they thought that the Commander was gone, or were they actually beginning to lose? Was it because the Commander lost or what?
Anyway, the Commander continued fighting by helping two people at each platform by supporting them with Aurene’s power, and each platform was the power of already defeated Elder Dragon.
Why wasn’t Balthazar’s power there?
Oh well, finally we had to face the corrupted Elder Dragon of water. With everybody’s help.
So what I think about the Commander getting most of the credit. I think it’s justified, but the Commander would have never ever managed to do it alone. So of course the others deserve credit as well. Anyone who participated in the fight does. But... the Commander was the one who made the most critical work most often.
Question is, would the tyria have been survived if the Commander did not exist?
Vividatt personally believes that someone else would have just taken his place, and saved the world, pretty much like he did. Maybe even done it better than him. Because first he was simply helping his krewe mates. Making inventions and competing in games... Rebelling against the Inquest... And soon he realized he was involved with the Elder Dragon fight. He struggles with guilt that his psycho side causes him, and is constantly afraid that this evil side of his takes over, and starts to harm people around him, including his friends, like he has done in the past. So, seeing death kinda inviting, he sees it as a reward, since struggling in guilt he sees as his punishment. This also drives him to help people as much as he can. While at the same time satisfying his urges to destroy by defeating bad people. He also has a strong sense of responsibility, which makes him keeping on fighting the dragons, since now he was too deeply involved. So the reason why he keeps fighting, is hoping to die, sense of responsibility, keeping his love interest safe, to satisfy his destruction needs, and keeping himself entertained. He can be quite competitive, so he also views it as a challenge and fun.
Also when you look at the achievements, if you have completed them, the Commander has killed at least 1000 of each enemy. Has taken part in every world boss fight. Has searched a lot of secrets of the world. Has revived a lot of people. Collects a lot of random stuff. So I would not be surprised if even the skritt would respect them. XP

William Cameos in WoW
I figured I would do a cameos post for my Death Knight here, William. This is similar to my cameos post I made for Damien last year: [Damien’s Cata - BfA Cameos] [Damien’ Shadowlands Cameo]
So here are William’s cameos.
Wrath of the Lich King
Tumblr media
1) The first time players can see William is in the Death Knight starting zone. During the assault on Havenshire players can encounter him fighting and killing civilians as a Death Knight Initiate doing the Lich King’s bidding along with his fellow Death Knights.
This cameo just shows that he was among those raised into undeath and chosen to be a Death Knight under the Lich King’s will.
Tumblr media
2) The second time players see William is later in the starting zone after furthering the assault against the Scarlet Crusade. He is among the Death Knights that are setting fire to the Chapel of the Crimson Flame, throwing torches at the church and cheering.
This cameo shows that William was among the initiates to be deemed worthy and allowed to ascend the ranks of the Scourge.
Tumblr media
3) The third and final cameo in Wrath takes place in Dragonblight within Wintergarde Keep, inside of the tavern. Upon walking into the tavern the players can see a short scene with William, a High Elf, and a Draenei:
William: “Stop saying that! I want revenge nothing more...”
Elsavia: *laughs* “Sure, that’s why you helped protect those civilians from the undead, and traveled with us across Northrend helping where we are needed.”
Tovaal: “William, my friend, there is nothing wrong admitting you are a good person.”
William: “Let’s just go. We need to get to Icecrown.”
The three then leave the tavern to head to Icecrown.
This cameo shows a few things in William’s story. First, he has a new Runeblade, and armor, and a tabard of the Ebon Blade signifying he joined up with them and is a member after the Lich King’s betrayal. Second, it hints to the fact that at some point after the events of the DK starting zone he came across Elsavia and Tovaal, and has been adventuring with them throughout Northrend during the events of Wrath of the Lich King. It also shows William is seemingly able to control his transformations as he is in human form.
Cataclysm
Tumblr media
1) The only cameo William has during Cataclysm is in Pyrewood Village, Silverpine Forest. Standing in the middle of the village he can be seen staring at the houses. Approaching him as a Horde vs Alliance player will garner different responses:
Horde (Unless the player is a fellow DK)
<William looks at you and grits his teeth before clenching a fist> “ Your people did this.. you destroyed my home. I suggest you leave me be, unless you want to lose your head.”
William then walks away and disappears.
Alliance
<William’s gaze shifts to you slowly before looking back at the buildings> “This was my home. It’s strange to be back here, last thing I remember of it was the Forsaken attacking a few years ago... I was killed in the battle and the next thing I remembered I was waking up as a servant to the Lich King.
<He lets out a sigh>
I have to get back to Acherus, the Ebon Blade will be wondering where I am.”
William then walks away and disappears.
This cameo gives some backstory for William by letting the player know that he was a citizen of Pyrewood Village, which explains why he is a worgen, and that he was among the populace when the Forsaken came through (per the Classic WoW leveling experience) and attacked the village.
Legion
Tumblr media
1) The next time players can encounter William is during Legion while leveling through Val’sharah, they can find him just outside of Bradensbrook in the graveyard. Kneeling by one of the graves the player can approach William and talk to him where he will say:
<Standing the worgen turns to you with a solemn look on his face> “Many left Pyrewood Village to escape the undead threat of the Scourge, among them were a few friends of mine. They thought leaving was the only option, but it seems they escaped one undead threat only to encounter another.”
<William clutches what seems to be a High Elven and Draenic necklace in his hand before looking back to the grave.>
“It seems I’m destined to lose everyone to the undead.”
This cameo shows a few things regarding William. First, it builds on William’s backstory of being from Pyrewood Village. At some point William learned of Bradensbrook, and traveled there in hopes of seeing friends who had fled Pyrewood Village during the Scourge march across Eastern Kingdoms, only to discover they had been killed by the risen undead that no plagues Bradensbrook. Second, it hints that during the war in Northrend, after encountering them leaving the tavern to head to Icecrown, apparently Elsavia and Tovaal were killed by undead something that still haunts William as he carries around necklaces that belonged to them.
Battle for Azeroth
Tumblr media
1) The next time players encounter William is while leveling through Drustvar. Along the cliffside of Corlain they will find him sitting atop a skeletal steed. Approaching him to talk he will say:
“Be careful out here, the magic used by these witches is unlike anything I have ever seen. I’m trying to get a better understanding of it and how it works, but it’s different.”
This cameo is rather simple but shows a few things. First, William has apparently acquired a Skeletal Steed as his own. Second, he has taken an interest in the magic used by the Heartsbane coven, for what reason he does not say but it is likely for the interests of the Ebon Blade.
