there are lots of things that make ted lasso one of my favorite shows, but maybe the biggest one is how consistently and how deliberately they pay off their own setups.
we live in a media era that’s so obsessed with being Spoiler Free that writers will make their endings, their Twists, so bizarre and so obtuse that they can’t possibly be Spoiled by anyone just. understanding basic story structure. and it has led to some of the most dissatisfying, unmemorable, disappointing stories that have been produced
game of thrones is nigh impossible to rewatch, because all the audience feels when they see all those threads being placed, all that intention that was there in the beginning of the story, is disappointment. it was the biggest show on television for a full decade and Nobody In The World rewatches it.
but ted lasso isn’t like that. so many of us who follow the show have been able to call so much of what has happened, in season two and now as season three is premiering, and i cannot emphasize enough how WONDERFUL that is! how glad i was to recognize the blatant queercoding of Colin and then have it paid off when he was confirmed queer! to have nate’s face-heel turn be devastating on a first watch and so obvious on a rewatch! to have expectations met and exceeded
i truly believe that season three will go exactly the way that they told us it would at the end of season one. relegation, then promotion, then victory. and i will be so, so happy when they do what they said they would.

I usually enjoy the seasonal anime recommendations of Mother's Basement on youtube (even tho I do think his recs are very shounen centric and he often dislikes or disregards shoujo or yuri shows), but tbh his video for the spring season is totally ridiculous to me lol

baldur’s gate 3 did not even remotely deserve to win game of the year that shit isn’t even properly finished, especially considering some of the games it went up against. they only added the epilogue in major patch fucking 5 and act 3 is STILL barebones as shit. and THIS beat tears of the kingdom AND spider-man 2????? nah i’m pissed about this, i’m fully convinced they ignored actual game quality in favour of what was hyped on social media close to award season
okay after thinking past the initial anger i’m adding this on the end just to make a more coherent point. goty is “given to a video game judged to deliver the best experience across creative and technical fields” (goty wikipedia page introduction). i fully believe that bg3, with its plethora of bugs, technical issues, and other mechanical problems that very much have been game-breaking for some people (and even when it isn’t, still wildly frustrating), very much does not deliver “the best experience across technical fields” by a long shot. i will say the creativity part is down to personal taste and therefore i would find this win a lot more acceptable if goty didn’t make any comment on mechanical functioning of the game, but the thing is it DOES. so because of this i am now sulking

right can i just. okay. lesbian is not a genre so im not looking to lump all these shows together. got that out of the way. im also not looking to pit queer people against each other so ok checking that off the list. i am however going to go ahead and throw the misogyny card out here because it’s fucking annoying how shows that center women, especially when theyre woc and/or queer, still just don’t take off even in progressive online spaces the way any shows with our darling young gay male couples will. i’m not saying that’s, like, the Cause of them being cancelled either because we’ve been shown numbers don’t matter. and many of the “”lesbian”” shows that have been cancelled were popular otherwise. just complaining xo!

5 episodes into Inside Job's new season and I'm wholeheartedly obsessed. Again. This is by far better than the first season. But like... question? Does Inside Job only appeal to millennials??

The fandom didn’t give Mason Dye enough credit for his acting. He was overshadowed by Joseph (don’t get me wrong, Joseph’s amazing, but Mason deserved SOMETHING).
send me a hot take!
