That^ is my highschool band from my freshman year. It was supposed to be our assessment performance, buuuutttt we found out pretty much on that day that we recorded it- the day before assessment- that it was ‘postponed indefinitely’ due to Covid.
So my (old)band director, being the amazing man he is, saw that as ‘okay so let’s hope it is only postponed- but just in case- let’s record it.’ So that day, during our usual class time, we went through our music like a performance.
I think this was maybe the second take of this piece, but I don’t think we did more than three takes on any one piece.
I should probably mention; the piece was Homage- Three Tapestries
We did all three, the big pauses between parts being each movement/‘tapestry’
It’s just something I’m proud of and think sounds fucking AWESOME

(guy about to complain about a subset of tumblr users she wouldn’t even be thinking about if she hadn’t clicked on a random blog that was just in her notifications for a post she KNOWS only annoying people interact with). the thing that really does actually bother me about a lot of bbc merlin fans who like to criticize the show for its problem stuff. like the treatment of morgana both as a character inside the show and by the writers. or the like. magic genocide metaphors. that stuff. these people have apparently forgotten or never actually cared to know that bbc merlin was not created in a vacuum. bbc merlin is an adaptation of arthurian legends. which have been around for centuries and were created in misogyny times and contain many MANY misogynistic elements and characterizations. morgana bbc merlin is treated like that because morgan le fay is always treated like that. she has been for hundreds of years because men invented her to invent a woman to be mad at. the elements of bbc merlin you’re criticizing are steeped into arthurian literature’s core none of that shit was invented in 2008… and yet no one ever wants to critique the traditional cycles as a whole we just want to complain about a tv show. like whatever man

Writing Problem: The Story Goes Off the Rails in the Third Act
Problem: The Story Goes Off the Rails in the Third Act
Solution: Weaving a compelling third act necessitates a guarded understanding of how to view and interpret a story on the micro and macro levels. That is to say, an attention to detail is essential, but equally valuable is the opportunity to take a step back and view the whole narrative as the sum of its parts. Do individual characters achieve their personal goals? Are relationship arcs incomplete? Is the drama, humor, or sense of mystery that drove the story in the first two acts, present or validated by the third act?
If one thinks of the whole of a story as a tapestry of sorts, then one might also view each chapter, arc, or act as a meaningful shape, pattern, or attribute of that greater tapestry. These attributes cue the readers as to what facet of story (or character) to focus on, depending on the moment. These attributes can also expose consequential divergences from established narrative designs.
How should readers interpret and process, or otherwise organize, these complex stimuli? For example, an author who purposefully generates tonal proximity between characters or events will ensure emotional continuity from scene to scene or from act to act.
