A More Enjoyable Assignment (tickle fic)
Tumblr media
Fandom: Heartstopper
Summary: Nick loves to tickle Charlie, but he never lets Charlie tickle him back. Charlie would never admit it to anyone, but all he wanted to do was hear his boyfriend squirm and giggle and it was starting to drive him up the wall.
Forget homework - this Nick-related assignment was way more fun.
My first ever tickle fic! Quite nervous about posting this, so all (kind) feedback very much appreciated.

Nick loved to tickle Charlie. This was common knowledge at this point. Charlie could barely make it through an hour in Nick's company before he was pounced on and his high-pitched babbling and squeals filled the air. Charlie would put up a dramatic fuss every time but honestly, he really didn't mind. And he could see from Nick's shit-eating grin just how much joy it brought him.
However, the main issue was that whenever Charlie reached out a retaliating hand to tickle Nick's side, or grabbed his knee to squeeze it, Nick would immediately employ Strong Rugby Arms and intercept his movements, never giving him the chance to properly get his revenge. He'd never admit it to anyone, but all Charlie wanted to do was hear his boyfriend squirm and giggle and it was starting to drive him up the wall.
One Sunday afternoon, they were studying on Nick's bedroom floor, music playing softly in the background. They lay on their stomachs alongside each other, hips and shoulders touching. Charlie had sunk so deep into quadratic equations that he was barely aware of his surroundings, until he felt the familiar sensation of fingers digging expertly, but gently, into his armpit. It took a few seconds for his brain to catch up and then he gasped and squirmed away.
“Nick!” he all but squawked. “You're such a menace.”
When he turned to look at him, Nick was scribbling on his own Geography paper, his face schooled into an unconvincing expression of concentration. Charlie scoffed.
“You're fooling literally no one at this point,” he said, rolling his eyes affectionately and tapping Nick gently on the forehead with his pen.
A smile spread slowly across Nick's face, and he suddenly grabbed for Charlie's hips with both hands and squeezed. This was one of his worst spots – which Nick knew, the arsehole – and Charlie immediately crumbled, attempting to curl into the foetal position on the floor while high-pitched squeals poured out of him.
“Stop it, stop it, stop it!” he cried, trying to wriggle away. Nick just chuckled and ignored him, spidering his fingers up his sides. “Ah fu – fuck, Nick, that tickles so m-much – please...” His arms were flailing wildly, trying to grab Nick's hands and slow his movements.
Nick grinned but paused for a second, clearly winding down so as not to completely overwhelm him, and Charlie saw his chance. He lunged for Nick's thigh but before he could get any leverage, Nick casually plonked his entire body across Charlie's on the floor, leaving him unable to move.
“Nah, I don't think so,” Nick said calmly.
“Oh, for god sake.”
They lay there for a few moments, Charlie catching his breath after the attack. Nick's pinning was clever in stopping him being able to move much, whilst carefully avoiding actually hurting him. Eventually, Nick lifted his weight off Charlie and they rolled onto their sides to face each other.
“You good?” Nick asked, giving him his trademark lopsided smile.
“Yeah,” Charlie said, returning the grin with ease. They just drank each other in for a few seconds. “But you always -” He started, but then faltered, embarrassed.
“Hmm?” Nick was suddenly frowning slightly, always able to read him like a bloody book. He reached for Charlie's hand, linking their fingers together.
“You don't -” Charlie blew out a breath, frustrated at his inability to form words. “You never let me tickle you back.”
“Oh!” Nick's face softened with understanding, and then he grinned. “I know.”
“But why?”
“It's just funny,” Nick shrugged. “And because you're cute when you're annoyed. And in general.”
Charlie would never get used to Nick's unabashed compliments. He felt his face heat up as a rush of warmth spread through his body. “Shut up.”
“And when you're flustered.” The lopsided smile of pure sunshine was back.
“Nick, stop it! It's not fair when I don't get to fluster you back.” Nick's grin just grew wider. “Are you even ticklish?” Charlie asked, his eyes roaming around the parts of Nick's body that he knew were his own worst spots. He leaned in to poke his stomach but as usual Nick was too quick for him, grabbing his wrist.
“Ah now, that would be telling,” Nick replied in a gentle tone.
Charlie groaned, and Nick laughed brightly. “Do you giggle? I bet you're a giggler.”
“Absolutely not.”
A thought occurred to Charlie, and he had a sudden flash of anxiety. “If you really hate being tickled then it's fine, I won't tickle you. I just thought -”
“Charlie,” Nick interrupted softly, running his thumb over Charlie's knuckles. “It's okay. I don't hate it. I just happen to be very very good at stopping you.”
“Well, I think it's mean of you to use Muscle 1 and Muscle 2 against me,” Charlie said sternly, poking each of them in turn with a finger.
Nick snorted. “Ah, but we both know that you like the arms.”
“Not in this context! Anyway, forget homework because this is my new assignment.”
Nick said nothing, just looked at him affectionately for a moment and then leaned across to kiss him. Charlie sank into it, but pulled back after a few moments to appraise him. “You scared?”
Nick pretended to mull it over. “Hmm... nope. But you should be.”
Charlie rolled his eyes, but then burst into surprised laughter a moment later as Nick dived for his knees.
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
Charlie took this assignment very seriously – it was in his geeky nature, after all – and work began the very next day. He figured that the best tactic was to catch Nick off guard when he might not be able to react quickly enough to stop him. It was hardly the most well-thought-out plan but he didn't really have many other options.
His first attempt was first thing on Monday morning, in form room. Mr Lange was about to take the register and Nick was hastily completing his Geography homework that was (of course) due first thing.
“If only you'd finished this yesterday like a good student, instead of distracting us both with those magic fingers of yours,” Charlie whispered.
Nick just turned to him, raising an eyebrow at his inadvertent choice of words.
“Tickling fingers, I mean,” Charlie added, hastily and unnecessarily.
“I know,” Nick replied, entirely too innocently. “What else would you mean?”
Charlie gave him a look, but couldn't stop the grin that took over his face a moment later. Nick was winding him up, and it was on. When Nick turned back to his work, Charlie bit his lip in concentration, looking him up and down. The problem was that he didn't know where Nick's weak spots were, but the idea of finding out was more exciting than he'd care to admit.
Knees were normally a weak spot, right? And they were hidden under the desk where no one else could see what was going on. Probably a good place to start.
Charlie shuffled a bit closer to Nick on his chair – not unusual, so Nick didn't bat an eyelid, just continued writing. He reached out his left hand as surreptitiously as he could, shifting it under the desk towards Nick's right leg. Before he could overthink it and chicken out, Charlie reached for the fleshy part just above Nick's knee and squeezed.
He heard Nick's sharp intake of breath and felt his hand instantly shoot out and close around Charlie's hand.
“Excuse me!” Nick muttered, chuckling in surprise. “What do you think you're doing?”
“My new homework assignment,” Charlie answered, unable to keep the grin off his face. “Finding Nick's giggle.”
“Oh, I see how it is. Well, I'm pretty certain there was no giggle there, so good luck with that.”
“Well, that was just phase one. Plenty more to come.”
Nick just smirked. “Has anyone ever told you that you're weird?”
Charlie ignored him. “So, knees, seemingly ticklish – noted.”
Nick's expression changed then, to something that Charlie didn't like the look of. “Do you know who else has ticklish knees? My very weird boyfriend.” Before Charlie could blink, Nick's hand shot out to his knee and squeezed back, getting more leverage than Charlie had managed. The sudden and intense ticklish sensation shooting up Charlie's thigh produced a startled giggle in the mostly silent classroom that he couldn't stifle in time. He clapped a hand over his mouth, blushing.
“Charlie, Nick! Quiet down, please,” called Mr Lange.
When they caught each other's eye a second later, they both leant over their desks in silent laughter.

The next day, they were studying in a quiet corner of the library during a free period, with their backs against the shelves and textbooks spread around them. Charlie had already finished his work but he was always happy to keep Nick company.
And if the opportunity arose, perhaps continue with his separate Nick-related assignment.
Twenty minutes in, Nick was on the final page of his history essay, with Charlie mostly watching him work, and chipping in with helpful information when he could. He started absent-mindedly trailing his finger along Nick's forearm, stroking back and forth. After a few minutes, Nick paused.
“You're being quite distracting, you know,” he smiled.
Charlie immediately withdrew, sheepishly. “Oh um, sorry.”
“No no, it's okay, it's, um – it's a nice type of distraction,” Nick said, flushing slightly. “You don't need to stop.”
Charlie looked at his feet, smiling shyly, and continued the soothing motions on Nick's arm. He felt Nick's relaxed exhale a moment later.
After a couple more minutes, Charlie was getting a little restless, and a slightly dangerous thought entered his mind. He looked down at Nick's side, perfectly exposed as his arms were raised to write in his book which was balanced on his bent knees.
He couldn't, could he?
Charlie took a look around – there was no one within sight, but the library wasn't empty. It was as quiet as you'd expect from such an environment. He slowly shifted his hand that was caressing Nick's arm, and casually moved it down to trail his fingers lightly over Nick's side instead. Nick immediately jerked away in surprise, but still no giggle – dammit.
Nick turned to look at him. “Don't you dare,” he said warningly, but Charlie could easily spot the amused glint in his eye.
“Don't what?” Charlie asked innocently. “Finish your homework.”
And surprisingly, Nick did. Bless his trusting soul. However, it was as he was writing the very last paragraph that Charlie just couldn't resist a second attempt. This time, he was determined to produce some sort of audible reaction from him. He knew he'd have to be quick because Nick would surely be expecting it at this point, and the rugby player had lightning-quick reactions. So Charlie waited until Nick was deep in concentration, scribbling away, before he reached for his side again and dug his fingers into the flesh more firmly. Nick didn't manage to move away quite as quickly this time and Charlie got a few good squeezes in - Nick's gasp and slight yelp were music to his ears.
“Oh I'm sorry, what was that?” Charlie asked, far too pleased with himself.
“You're ridiculous,” Nick retorted, but he was grinning widely. He'd only shifted to the left slightly, hadn't blocked Charlie's hand as he usually would, so Charlie decided to try his luck and moved up a little higher, feathering fingers over his ribs through his shirt. Nick's nose scrunched up adorably and a second later he was actually laughing – admittedly quietly, and it wasn't quite the uncontrollable giggle he was aiming for, but Charlie's heart still clenched at the adorableness of it as he watched Nick's eyes clench shut and felt him squirm against the sensations. He also noted that Nick could easily get away if he really wanted to, but he hadn't moved. Definitely not torture, then.
A few moments later, just as Charlie became bolder and travelled towards his armpit, Nick's hand finally came down to block him. “Ch – Charlie,” he managed around a soft gasp. “Stop.”
“Sorry, I didn't quite catch that?”
Nick rolled his eyes, breathing slightly heavily. “God, that was intense – I had to stop you before I really started cackling. We're in a library, you maniac.”
Charlie pouted dramatically. “But I wanted to hear you giggle.”
“Tough,” Nick replied, smiling. “Also, why do you keep doing this in places where we need to be quiet?”
“It's more fun that way.”
“I'm not sure if I like this new, rebellious Charlie.” The lingering kiss Nick gave him a second later was a pretty strong argument to the contrary.
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
After his recent success, Charlie abandoned his mission for a few days. The plan was to lull Nick into a false sense of security, but based on the way he put up almost no resistance in the library, Charlie probably didn't have much to worry about. The memory gave him a little thrill whenever he thought about it. However, he still hadn't fully scratched that itch and he was nothing if not determined.
On Friday night, Nick was round at Charlie's house and they were sitting on the edge of his bed, mostly making out and occasionally playing Mario Kart. Charlie won every time, of course. After his third loss, Nick was so worked up that he thwacked Charlie in the face with a pillow and Charlie couldn't stop cackling.
“I'm really never gonna let you win, you know,” Charlie said firmly, after he'd calmed down.
Nick sighed. “Yeah, I know.” He flopped backwards onto the bed dramatically. “Maybe we need to find a game I'm good at.”
“Sorry, not sorry.” He looked at Nick out of the corner of his eye. “I feel like you need some stress relief.”
Nick raised his head from his lying position. “Are you going to give me a massage?” he asked, all hopeful puppy dog eyes.
Charlie giggled, shaking his head. “Maybe later. I've got a better idea.” He deftly climbed onto the bed and sat himself on Nick's calves, facing him. “A cliche once told me that laughter is the best medicine, so I think we should test that theory.”
Nick just frowned as he watched him. “Charlie...”
“Are you seeing where I'm going with this?” Charlie asked, smirking at Nick's adorably confused expression.
“I'm not sure, but it definitely doesn't seem like I'm about to get a massage.”
A thought struck Charlie. “Okay, fine, I'll give you a massage. How about a... foot massage?”
Nick's eyes widened. “Um, no, I'm – I'm good actually.”
Bingo. “Oh really? Why's that, then?”
“Um...” Nick sat up slightly and tried to move his legs, but they barely budged with Charlie's full body weight on top of them. His fate seemed to fully dawn on him then and he flopped backwards, hands covering his face and a nervous laugh bubbling out of him. “Shit.”
“So first thing's first – socks. You won't be needing those.” Charlie reached behind him and, with some skill considering he couldn't see what he was doing, slowly peeled off Nick's socks one at a time. Even just these simple movements caused Nick's feet to twitch slightly, and Charlie bit back a smile. He'd surely hit the jackpot here.
“Would you mind telling me what you're doing?” Nick asked, clearly attempting to give him the stink eye through the gaps in the hands covering his face.
Charlie thought about it. “Homework,” he said simply, before reaching back to run a single finger gently along the arch of Nick's bare foot. The reaction was immediate and delicious – the scrunching of the toes, the panicked gasp of “Charlie!”. Charlie chuckled and brought his hand back in front of him.
“This is so unfair,” Nick whined, trying again to shift his feet but with absolutely no success.
“Consider it payback for the many times you've reduced me to a squealing mess.” He leaned closer, to whisper in Nick's ear. “You're about to get wrecked, Nelson.”
“I – no – come on, please -”
“Begging already, are we?”
“Will it make you stop?”
“Definitely not. We have to find that giggle.” He paused, struck with a sudden thought. “Oh and by the way, your safeword is bubblegum.”
“I – okay – but Charlie -” Nick screwed his eyes shut. The anticipatory giggles were already starting to sneak their way out of him, and Charlie's heart melted at the sound. He leaned forward again to press a kiss to the tip of Nick's nose.
“You're so fucking cute – I haven't even started yet,” Charlie smiled.
“Yeah, but -” Nick ran his fingers through his hair anxiously. “My feet are so ticklish, I might actually die.”
“Well, the ticklish truth is finally coming out. Also, you definitely won't die. Now stop distracting me.” He reached behind him again with his right hand, hovering close to Nick's foot for a few moments for dramatic effect. Nick groaned loudly as the seconds passed.
“Such a tease...” he muttered.
When Charlie could hold back no longer, he went straight for Nick's arch with purpose, scribbling his fingers vigorously over the soft skin. To his delight, Nick fell to pieces instantly, emitting a high-pitched squeal that Charlie had definitely never heard him make before. It was immediately followed by chuckles which quickly turned into desperate, breathy giggles as Charlie moved up to scratch at the back of his toes.
“No no no no no, Charlie ple - hease -” Nick spat out through giggles, his face scrunched up in a beautiful combination of euphoria and torture. His hands gripped the pillow behind his head. Charlie didn't let up, focusing in on the base of his big toe that was evidently incredibly ticklish based on the strangled cry he let out, and in a moment of pure evil, Charlie reached behind him with his other hand and attacked both big toes at once, producing a new bout of uncontrollable laughter. He didn't turn around as he didn't want to miss a second of Nick's helpless reactions.
“Yep, this is how I d-die,” Nick managed to get out, writhing from side to side in ticklish desperation.
“How does it feel, Nick? Do you promise never to tickle me again?” Charlie knew he didn't actually want this, but he also knew Nick would never agree to it either.
“I can never p-promise that – oh god, stohohop -” Charlie had moved back down to the arches of his feet in just the right spot, and Nick's hips bucked as the giggles poured out in a constant stream. Charlie wished he could bottle the sound. He focused on the killer spots of Nick's feet for a solid few minutes, often giggling along with him as he worked his magic, but listening carefully for any utterances of the safe word. It was only when Nick's laughter turned completely silent that he let up. He pulled his hands back to his front but stayed perched on Nick's legs, watching him recover fondly.
“I hate you,” Nick said weakly, a few moments later. “I also love you, but I hate you. Just so you know.”
Charlie just grinned and leaned forward to lie gently on top of him, resting his chin on Nick's chest. “I love you too,” he said, suddenly feeling bashful and overwhelmed with affection. “I can't really deal with how cute you are.”
Nick just rolled his eyes and smiled at him. “Do you know who else is cute? My very ticklish boyfriend.” And Charlie should have predicted what would happen next as Nick's hands reached greedily for his sides.
He wasn't really complaining.

“Agh! Charlie, quit it!”
Charlie giggled, withdrawing his hand from Nick’s side. The two boys were currently in the Spring family’s living room, having been sprawled out on the floor with their text books in front of them. This was their near-daily routine; coming back to one of their houses and trying to knock out some of their homework from their day at school, and then spending the rest of their time together watching movies, playing games, and most importantly, making out. Though most times, that plan didn’t go the way it was intended. Nick was easily distracted, and very quickly lost interest in whatever worksheet he was doing. So in order to entertain himself, he’d try to distract Charlie, whether it be laying across his boyfriend’s lap, or whining, or throwing his pens at his head.
Charlie had to bite back a grin when he heard Nick let out a groan, slamming his maths textbook closed. “Charlieeee,” he’d whimpered, pushing his book to the side, “I’m bored.”
“That’s a shocker,” Charlie had replied, chuckling and keeping his eyes trained on his own assignment.
“Come on,” Nick moaned, “let’s take a break. We’ve been working on maths for like an hour now. You especially don’t need to study maths longer than that.”
“Nick, I have a test at the end of the week.” Charlie reminded him, finally glancing up at the older boy.
“And you’re going to ace it! You always have the highest grade out of anyone, and you don’t even need to try!” Nick retorted, moving closer to his boyfriend. When Charlie ignored him, he pouted and rested his head on his shoulder.
“Please, Char? Just for a little bit?”
Charlie contemplated this for a moment, before finally letting out a long yet playful sigh. “Fine. What do you want to do?”
Nick raised his head, smiling brightly. “We should play a game.”
“What game? Mario Kart? Haven’t you learned by now that there’s no way you’ll ever beat me at that?” The younger boy teased, laughing at the incredulous expression on his boyfriend’s face.
“Excuse you, but I happen to remember winning three races last weekend when I was over!”
“Only because I let you win.”
The ginger’s eyes narrowed. “You’re so gonna pay for that later. And anyways, no, not that. I had another game in mind.”
Charlie tilted his head at him, confusion washing over his features. “What game?”
Nick smirked. “Only a game I can finally be the best at. Twister.”
“Twister?” Charlie repeated, raising his eyebrows in surprise. “Why do you wanna play that?”
“Why don’t you want to play?” Nick questioned playfully, “Afraid of losing?”
“No,” Charlie responded, “I’m great at it. You’ve just never brought it up before.”
Charlie was lying. He wasn’t good at Twister. Not only did he lack flexibility, but he had always been the first one to fall during the game when he’d played with his sister or his friends during their annual sleepovers. It wasn’t like he cared that much about the game itself; Charlie was competitive. He didn’t like to lose. That’s why his go-to game had always been Mario Kart. After years of mastering every course, hardly anyone could beat him, except occasionally Tori. But even then, the two siblings were always neck and neck.
“Okay.” Charlie nodded, setting his assignment and books aside. “Let’s play.”
And that’s were the pair were now, having pushed the coffee table to the side of the room in order to have the desired amount of space for the dotted mat. They’d spun a few times already, their positions starting out pretty easy to achieve, until Charlie suddenly had an arm underneath Nick’s body and Nick had under the younger boy’s. By each turn, they were intertwining themselves with each other even more, and Charlie’s balance was getting rather rocky. Nick, however, seemed to be completely stable, hardly ever having to readjust his footing or the placement of his hands to make things easier for himself.
With every spin of the plastic wheel, Charlie seemed to be getting more difficult adjustments to his position, while Nick barely had to move. It just wasn’t fair. Charlie knew his boyfriend was going to win.
“Doing alright, love?” Nick asked periodically, a teasing hint to his tone. “Not feeling too shaky?”
“Perfectly fine,” Charlie answered him through his teeth, choosing to ignore the chuckle that came from the boy above him.
After a few more minutes, Charlie decided he needed to do something to try and get an advantage over his smug boyfriend. And that’s when he reached up with one hand and jabbed him in the stomach.
Nick had flinched, drawing in a small breath, but remaining in the same position as before.
“Charlie,” He said, his voice low, “don’t.”
Charlie snickered, dropping his hand.
After another moment, he reached up again, now squeezing his hip.
Nick yelped, nearly losing his balance, but quickly regaining his composure. “Shit!”
Charlie grinned up at him innocently, trying not to laugh at the glare Nick sent him in return. This was working well for him.
“Charlie, I am warning you,” Nick tried again to be serious, his eyes locked on the boys hands. “Stop cheating!”
“Okay.” Charlie shrugged and reached for the spinner, feeling Nick’s eyes watching his every move.
Nick let out a breath, urging his muscles to relax as much as possible. Hopefully Charlie finally got the message.
He was wrong.
About three minutes later, Charlie was prodding at his side, causing the older boy to let out a shriek in surprise. And to Charlie’s delight, this caused Nick to topple over onto his back.
“Ha!” Charlie pumped his fists into the air victoriously, “I win!”
Nick stared up at his boyfriend, his eyes going wide. “You did not win.”
“Uh, yeah I did,” Charlie said smugly, “The rules are the first person who falls loses. You fell first, loser.”
Nick sat up quickly. “You were cheating!”
“Really? Was I?”
“Yes you were, you were tickling me!”
“Oh boo-hoo,” Charlie playfully rolled his eyes. “You’re just mad cuz you’re a sore loser.”
Nick didn’t answer, his eyes narrowing. Charlie’s smug attitude faltered, his smile fading, and immediately he began to feel as though his boyfriend was angry at him. “Nick, are you okay? I’m sorry, I was just joking… you’re not mad, are you?”
“Mad? No.” Something changed in Nick’s expression, his eyes glinting dangerously. “Vengeful? Very.”
Charlie didn’t even have time to respond, because Nick was launching himself at the boy with inhuman speed, tackling him and sending them rolling on the ground together. Charlie’s immediate instinct was to try and curl in on himself, knowing very well what was about to happen, but Nick was stronger, and easily pinned Charlie underneath him.
“Nick, wait a second,” Charlie tried to plead, attempting to squirm around underneath the rugby lad, but Nick’s hold on him was solid. Completely unmovable.
“Wait a second? Oh no. We’re not even going to think about waiting. I’m gonna tickle the absolute shit out of you, and I’m not gonna stop until I feel like it. I think that’s a proper punishment for someone who thinks cheating is the way to beat another person at a game, right?” Nick’s grin was pure evil as he watched Charlie blush bright red underneath him. “Not that you’d mind.”
“Niiiiick,” Charlie whined, bringing his hands up to cover his blazing cheeks, squealing suddenly at the sensation of Nick squeezing his sides.
“Ah ah! And you can’t hide your face from me, either! I wanna see your adorable smile.” Nick let his fingers slowly spider up and down the boy’s sides, relishing in the frantic giggles escaping his lips. God, he loved that sound.
“Nohoho! Thahat’s nohohot fahahair!” Charlie squeaked out, his giggles growing the higher Nick aimed. “Ihihi cahan’t help ihit!”
Nick chuckled. “Okay. Let me help you then.”
With that, he shot hands up under Charlie’s exposed armpits, drilling torturously into the hallows.
“NO NICK!” Charlie’s arms came flying down and clamped tightly to his sides, his head thrown back with hysteric laughter. “STOHOHOHOP!”
“Stop? Char, I’m only just getting started!” Nick laughed with the younger boy, his heart filled with endearment. “Besides, you deserve this, you dick!”
“I JUHUHUST WAHAHANTED TO WIHIN!”
“Well, cheaters don’t make winners, sweetheart.”
“I CAHAHAN SEHEHEHEE THAHAHAT!”
Nick rolled his eyes playfully. “How about this, Charlie? Just shut up and laugh.”
He pulled his hands out from under the boy’s arms, giving him only a few moments of relief before diving his fingers into his sensitive neck.
“NoO!” Charlie squealed, trying to duck his head, but Nick just laughed. “Charlie, my fingers are stuck now.”
“I dohohon’t cahahahare!” The younger giggled, yelping when he felt Nick beginning to press ticklish kisses along his ears. “Nihihick plehehease!”
“Man, your ears are sensitive as hell, Char.” Nick commented casually, “They seem so neglected. Why don’t you ever let me play with them and love them?”
“Stohohop ihihit!” Charlie whined, trying to move his head away from him, shrieking at the sensation of Nick nibbling on the shell of his ears. “OHOHOH MYHYHYHY GOHOHOD! NOHOHOT THAHAHAT!”
Mixed with the fluttering fingers in his neck and Nick’s merciless attack on his ears, Charlie was in hell (or heaven, though he’d never admit it). The two sensations combined were driving him nuts, and he was sure that Nick knew that. Of course he was.
Charlie’s head jerked to the side, lifting his chin just enough for Nick to remove his hands and let them jump to his ribs, his lips quickly beginning to press kisses along the entirety of Charlie’s neck.
“NOHOHO NIHIHICK! LEHEHEAVE MYHYHY NEHEHECK ALOHOHONE!”
“I don’t think you’re in a position to make demands here,” Nick muttered into the skin, making his laughter rise in pitch.
Charlie was quickly running out of oxygen by the second, and he wasn’t sure if Nick would actually give him a chance to breathe. Normally he was more gentle with him, but as he had said, he was out for revenge. Still, if Charlie wanted to see the sun rise the next morning, he needed to do something.
“NIHIHICK IHI CAHAN’T BREHEHEATHE! PLEHEHEASE!”
Nick drew his head back, his fingers slowing to a stop on the poor boy’s ribs. He looked guilty. “Oh god, okay. Here, just take a minute.”
Charlie was sucking in air like his life depended on it. Nick’s smirk vanished, “Sorry, was I taking it too far? I didn’t mean to-“
“Nick,” His boyfriend interrupted, breathing heavily, “it’s okay. I’m fine.”
“Are you sure?” Nick didn’t sound convinced, taking in Charlie’s current state with concern.
“I’m sure,” Charlie told him, then slightly propped himself up on his elbows, “You’re just way too good at getting what you want.”
That finally got a small chuckle out of the older boy, who leaned down and pressed his lips to his in a sweet kiss.
“You are so incredible,” Nick whispered, pressing his forehead to Charlie’s. Charlie hummed, his body finally beginning to calm down. They stayed like that for a moment, before Nick suddenly pushed him back down onto his back. “But there’s one more spot I want to get to before I let you go.”
Charlie’s eyes were nearly popping out of their sockets in realization. “No, Nihihick I thohohought youhou wehehere dohohone!”
Nick just smiled innocently at the boy as he let his fingers walk all the way down to his kneecaps, “I love you.”
And let it be known, Charlie definitely learned a valuable lesson on cheating that day, especially when getting caught by an evil, rugby loving golden retriever.

“You’re amazing!” Charlie exclaimed before kissing his boyfriend, whom of which was wrapped in a hug underneath the other.
Nick’s hands came up to hold Charlie’s face continuing to kiss him. The soft touch causing Charlie to smile into Nick’s lips and vise versa.
Nick felt Charlie’s hands start to travel down his arms and relaxed into the soothing touch. That was… until he felt hands grab at his torso. A ticklish feeling spread across his sides where Charlie’s fingers lightly pressed.
He tried to ignore it, but as soon as they started moving up to his lower ribs, Nick gasped and brought his arms down against his sides.
“Is something wrong?” Charlie asked looking concerned. “Did I go too far? I’m sorry we should’ve set boundaries or something.” Charlie stopped when Nick held his hands.
“You’re fine. It just surprised me a little. We can keep going if you’d like.” Nick rubbed his thumb across Charlie’s. Charlie relaxed, kissing Nick’s forehead.
“Sorry I scared you.” Nick said after the kiss. “Hey- no saying the S word remember?” Charlie punctuated his sentence with a poke to Nick’s rib. Nick jolted at the action, covering where Charlie poked him while a small giggle rang in Charlie’s ears.
“Ohhhh. So that’s what happened.” Charlie smirked. Nick was starting to get nervous. He’s been able to hide his ticklishness this far into their relationship. It was bound to be found out eventually, but why now?!
“What do you mean? Nothing happened?” Nick squealed when another poke was delivered to the side of his neck. “I tickled you. You’re ticklish Nick Nelson~” Charlie was grinning ear to ear. Meanwhile a small glow appeared on Nick’s cheeks.
“N-No I’m not.” Nick knew he wasn’t going to win but he might as well try. “Oh really?” Charlie fluttered his fingers at the sides of Nick’s neck. “Are you sure?” Charlie teased watching as Nick’s façade crumbed.
“Chahahahahahar! Hehehehehehe!” Nick tried to bury his face into his shoulder hoping to muffle his high pitched titters.
“You always tickle me so I think it’s my turn to make you laugh.” “You doho thahahat by beheing yohohou!” Nick scrunched his shoulders when Charlie moved under his chin and around his ears.
“But this is definitely more fun!” He stayed at that spot for a little bit before moving his hands to scribble at Nick’s stomach.
“Hehehehehehe! Chahahahrlie! Thahahat tihihickles!” Nick let out the purest and sweetest giggles Charlie has ever heard from him. Nick didn’t even fight back anymore. He lightly kicked his legs and grabbed at the end of Charlie’s jumper for leverage.
“You are just like a golden retriever aren’t you?” Charlie gently vibrated a clawed hand on Nick’s stomach as one would do with a puppy asking for a belly rub.
“Who’s a good boy~” Charlie teased bringing his free hand over to join the other. “Who’s my ticklish golden retriever boyfriend~” The teasing caused Nick to giggle even harder and cover his face.
“Mehehehehe!” Nick tried to hold in his giggles which only made a small snort escape his lips.
“Dihid you just snohort?!” Charlie ended up giggling just as much as Nick. The playfulness and the adorable look on Nick’s face as he was tickled silly was too cute to handle.
“NAHAHAHAHAHAHA! NOHOHOHO!” Nick laughed when Charlie moved up to squeeze at the middle of his ribs.
“Does the star player of Truham’s rugby team have ticklish ribs?” Charlie teased staying in that spot.
“NOHOHOHOHO! HEHEHE DOHOHOESN’T! AHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!” Nick tried to reach back at his attackers hands, only to pin them against his sides when Charlie’s fingers dug into his top ribs.
“CHAHAHARLIEHEHEHEHEHEHE! PLEHEHEHHEASE! NAHAHAT THEHEHEHERE!”
“Did I find a tickle spot~” Charlie cooed. He adored Nick’s laughter. “YEHEHEHEHES!”
“I wonder how many ribs you rugby lads have?”
“Ihihihit’s thehe sahahahahahame! Dohohohon’t cohohount thehehehehem!” Nick shook his head and wrapped his arms around his torso. “Count them? What a great idea.”
Nick let out a giggly whine, which Charlie swears was the best sound in the world.
“Twoooooo~” Charlie counted out loud as he pressed his fingers into Nick’s lowest ribs. He laughed along with his boyfriend as Nick struggled to not push at Charlie’s hands.
“Fooouuur~ Siiiiiiix~” Charlie continued to count each set of ribs. Nick’s body jerked with every new number that was counted. His body twisted from side to side to try and escape. Although, Charlie could tell he wasn’t trying his best to get away.
“NAHAHAHAHAHAHA! DOHOHON’T GOHO AHANY HIHIGHER!” Nick pushed at Charlie’s wrists when they dug into his second highest ribs.
“Why not? Does it tickle?” Charlie moved up to his highest rib. Nick let out another snort that was followed by high pitched laughter. “YEHEHEHEHEHES!! YOU KNOHOW IT DOHOHOES! AHH! CHAHAHAHAHAHARLIE!”
Charlie hands finally found their way under Nick’s arms and that’s when his squirming increased tenfold. Legs kicked and his hips bucked. His underarms were one of his most ticklish spots if not his worst.
“Wow it tickles a lot here.” Charlie was almost surprised Nick got more ticklish when reaching his underarms. As if Nick wasn’t ticklish enough already. He wasn’t complaining though.
“OHOKAY! OKAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAY! STAHAHAP PLEHEHEASE!”
Charlie pulled his hands back and rubbed away the tears peaking at Nick’s eyes. He couldn’t help but chuckle when he accidentally brushed against the side of Nick’s neck making him let out a breathy giggles.
“Dohon’t lauagh at mehe.” Nick whined interlocking his fingers with Charlie’s.
“But your giggles are so cute! And the fact that my strong rugby lad is super ticklish is the best thing ever.”
“Nooooooo!” Nick blushed trying to let go of Charlie’s hands to cover his face. Instead, Charlie pinned Nick’s hands to the side of his head before leaning down to press their lips together.
Nick slipped a hand away from Charlie’s to hold Charlie’s head against his. “I love you.” Nick paused to say. “Even if you’re a teasy little brat.” Nick ruffled Charlie’s hair.
Charlie rolled his eyes and pushed Nick’s hand away. “I love you too. Even though you’re probably gonna get me back for what I just did.”
“Oh 100%.” Nick said poking Charlie’s side, earning him a yelp.
They both smiled, Charlie resting himself on top of Nick so they could both cuddle. The two eventually fell asleep, both content and more happy than they had ever been.

Didn't mean to stay up so late drawing this but fuck, I've been playing Fallout 4 again, all day everyday, and of course I've been thinking bout all my favs getting wrecked! I was planning on drawing some Nick tickles for a while, and then, in a discord group I'm in, a friend said they wanted to draw robo tickles, too! Made me want to draw Lee!Nick even more~! Also, meet my boy, Hawke! He's obviously my Sole Survivor in my Fallout 4 playthrough.
There's gonna be Fallout Far Harbor spoilers under the cut, so keep that in mind.
So, when we meet DiMA in Arcadia, we learn about his and Nick's past. How Nick can't remember anything because of his old processors. DiMA got around this by programming and installing his own sort of memory card for himself. That got me thinking that if he was able to upgrade his body, what else could he make? Of course, my mind went for tickles! Gem 3 synths already have nervous systems cause they have flesh and organs and shit, but the other synths are all metal and circuitry. So how do these older synths like DiMA and Nick get to experience this innately human thing? Well, DiMA creates a fake nervous system! He, of course, tries it on himself first, and it was an immediate success. Soon, he could physically feel everything a human could. When he meets Nick again and they build a better relationship, he offers to install the program in Nick, and he accepts. My boy Hawke here offers to test the system out for Nick, and of course, he tickles him silly! It was a success, much to Nick's dismay, for the poor synth got a highly sensitive nervous system, one that is incredibly ticklish~! Even his insides are ticklish!!! Hawke never lets him live it down.
(My art don't repost but please reblog)

Predetermined tickle sessions
Fandom: Heartstopper
Characters: Nick/Charlie
Summary: Charlie's too ticklish to let Nick tickle him, even though he wants him to, so they come up with a solution.
A/N: Commission for @fatherchewylouie - thank you so much, I hope you like this!
Words: 2.1k
It started because both Charlie and Tao were too ticklish to dare venture onto that road with each other, and so they rarely had those proper tickle fights that teenagers tend to have. Only a poke and the occasional squeeze, barely enough to get either of them giggling. All of this, naturally, Nick had found out after much (gentle) coaxing and many a conversation upon noticing their lack of participation with the rest of the group, who would often launch tickle attacks on each other, leading to frequent chaos and lots of laughter.
Nick had found it marvelous, maybe because his own circle had never really been this touchy feely giggly type of group and more the rugby kind, where you wrestled until it nearly hurt and made fun rather than playfully teased. Nick had to admit he preferred this way of showing affection, even if it meant that Tara eventually discovered the spots he’d kept for only Charlie’s knowledge which in turn resulted in him being pulled into said tickle fights despite his rather weak protests. Maybe watching Nick get obliterated was what made Charlie up his own levels of tickle attacks, a territory which he’d been teetering into ever since meeting him, and Nick was suddenly finding himself giggling more often than not. He couldn’t say he hated it, but he was always happy to launch his own revenge, breaking through Charlie’s grip on his thigh and aiming for soft flesh or bony limbs.
Only Charlie never really let him get any proper revenge; always quick to squirm away, always panicked hands shoving Nick’s off, always a shell covering his skin, metaphorically speaking. Nick wondered if he’d gone too far, stepped out of line, even though he wasn’t really doing anything different to what Charlie had been doing.
“I’m sorry,” Charlie said one day, probably having seen the concern on Nick’s face. “You’ve done nothing wrong, I just-” He flushed, as he often did, but Nick found no pleasure in it that day. Hated to see him so vulnerable when he clearly would’ve preferred to hide.
“You don’t have to tell me right now,” he said, kissing the side of Charlie’s head, just beneath his temple. “I’m sorry, I’ll stop tickling you.”
“You-” Charlie’s flush intensified, which Nick had thought impossible. “I don’t want you to stop.”
“Oh?” Nick wasn’t teasing. Nick was genuinely surprised. “But you keep fighting for your life each time I do.” Okay, maybe a little teasing.
“It’s instinct, I just-” He shook his head. “You know how I told you about Tao and I? How we never really tickle each other because we’re both really bad? I think because of it it’s turned into something I don’t know how to handle. Because no one really forces us into it I think we both just freak out when it happens.”
“That makes sense.”
Charlie ran a hand through his hair, eyes on Nick, the wall, the floor, and back to Nick. “While I can appreciate not getting pulled into the group tickling, because frankly that looks intimidating, I don’t want to not- ever experience it, you know? It’s okay when you do it.”
Nick tilted his head. “So you want to have tickle fights with me, but your body won’t let you because it starts freaking out?”
Charlie shrugged, so obviously aiming for a nonchalance which didn’t come naturally to him at that moment. “Something like that.”
“We can ease into it then.” Nick ran his fingertip down Charlie’s arm. “I could tickle you a little, somewhere that’s not as bad.”
“Would you do that for me?”
“Of course, Char,” Nick said, breathing out a laugh. “Anything for you.”
“It’s not. I don’t know. Weird?”
“I get to hear your adorable giggle. How would that be weird?”
“Shut up,” Charlie laughed, his face still pink, his eyes still everywhere but on Nick’s face.
Nick couldn’t bear it anymore and grabbed for Charlie’s hands, pulling him closer so that he could press his lips to his cheek, the corner of his mouth, straight on his lips. Charlie was giggling into the kiss, and Nick imagined one day kissing the area beneath his ear to the same giggles, hands trying and failing to push him off. He didn’t even know if Charlie was ticklish there. He didn’t really know much of his sensitivity to begin with, other than what gentle, straying hands could discover while you were entirely preoccupied.
Nick wondered if it would feel strange to have “planned” tickle fights, but found he was looking forward to the couple of minutes a day he would get to prod at a pre-chosen spot and hear Charlie giggle. The first day, the day after the decision because Charlie got too nervous to let Nick do it after their conversation (and maybe they got a little distracted), Charlie sat in front of him and held out his arm. “The inside of my elbow’s ticklish,” he said, and Nick didn’t say anything about how adorable that was and simply just nodded with a smile.
He reached out a hand, index finger extended, and slowly brought it closer. “Tell me when to stop.”
Charlie squirmed in his seat, but kept his arm straight. “Oh my god, stop stalling and get it over with.”
Nick let out a laugh. “So impatient.”
“I can feel the tickling already.”
“Is it ticklish?”
“Yes, I- oh.”
Nick had touched skin and was making his way back and forth over the area, gentle and slow and with his gaze always stuck on Charlie’s face. He wasn’t laughing, but the ghost of a smile could be found on his lips. Anticipation. Some sort of tension. Nick wasn’t disappointed per se, but he’d longed to hear Charlie giggle, but just because a spot was sensitive it didn’t always equal laughter if touched. He tried to keep his touch as light as he could, although he could admit he wasn’t really tickling, moving his hand like that. But he knew from experience that a light touch to a ticklish spot tickled despite your technique or intention. He curled his fingers, which made Charlie snatch his arm away and rub at the skin with a whine, and Nick laughed and didn’t try to grab for him again.
Charlie didn’t hold anything out the next day but simply lied down beside him so that Nick had access to his lower back, a spot which he’d known was sensitive for a while now and always tried to avoid whenever he gave Charlie back tickles. The first time he’d done it, not knowing Charlie’s body yet, he’d ventured so low he’d thought he’d crossed a boundary before realizing Charlie was simply ticklish. It felt alien to him to deliberately steer his hand in that direction now, moving over Charlie’s spine just because he liked the way he shivered and tensed beneath his touch, face buried in a pillow and arms not at all relaxed beside him. They were quiet, Charlie due to anticipation and Nick so that he wouldn’t miss the safe word in case it was thrown at him. Outside, rain.
Charlie did giggle this time, although it came out in the form of panicked sounds in between squeals, evidently not knowing what to do with himself as Nick wiggled his fingers over the small of his back. His body kept twitching, arms flailing uselessly, and Nick allowed himself a solid minute of the sound before backing off and kissing Charlie until it got dark and he had to go home.
The first time Charlie stopped him was when Nick was digging lightly into his stomach. A strip of skin being revealed the more Charlie squirmed, his laughter panicked, louder than usual, and hands which nearly knocked into Nick before finally, desperately, pushing him off. Nick became uncertain, pausing with his fingers hovering over Charlie and wondering if the lack of their safe word meant he should dive back in or not.
“Don’t stop,” he said, as if he could read his thoughts. “I couldn’t help it. I didn’t mean to.”
“You don’t have to explain,” Nick said and dove back in, earning the lovely sound of Charlie yelping.
A few days later, Charlie said, “Could we-” before his voice broke, and he had Nick’s attention immediately, but he seemed shy more than anything else, and so Nick felt himself relax. “Go on.”
Charlie averted his gaze. “Could we maybe- do it for longer? Have it turn into an actual tickle fight?”
“Are you sure?” It didn’t necessarily surprise him, but he’d only tickled him for a minute at a time up until then. The words ‘tickle fight’ felt quite extreme in comparison.
But Charlie nodded. Charlie seemed excited.
Nick, on the other hand, felt strangely nervous as he approached him, set on going for his ribs first and seeing where that led him. He wasn’t sure if Charlie was supposed to be still at first until he couldn’t or if he would immediately start fighting back, and he didn’t ask. He simply reached out, fingers curling over skin as Charlie instantly jerked away more out of instinct than anything else. But then he laughed, something loud and panicked and lovely, and Nick decided to follow and keep tickling, trusting that Charlie would use the safe word if he needed to. Trusting that Charlie wasn’t asking this of him to please him, but because he wanted him to do it.
Charlie was ticklish. He was so beautifully ticklish. Nick found himself laughing along as he evaded each flying hand and kept prodding at his ribs, one hand straying to the side just to hear the way he shrieked when he squeezed. This was usually the point where he would back off, or where Charlie would call out the safe word or, in some cases, manage to escape, but as he nearly rolled his body off the bed he grabbed Nick’s wrist and choked out a hoarse, “Don’t let me go,” and Nick did as he was told, finally, finally, letting himself relax.
Nick hadn’t expected Charlie to get revenge, maybe because he’d been so focused on testing out his spots that he forgot that Charlie knew most of his too. How a squeeze to his thigh made Nick curl up. How a poke to his lower ribs made him whine, a tickle to his neck made him giggle (“You so giggle.” “I do not.”). But Charlie went for his belly, which would turn Nick into an incoherent mess on a normal day, but made him positively scream out in surprise now. He’d been leaning over Charlie, but flew off of him immediately, and maybe it was proof of how Charlie was getting more used to this, used to Nick making him squirm, because he followed instantly, fingers on Nick’s stomach again and this time not letting him escape them. Nick’s body was pressed against the wall, hands useless, head thrown back as he was laughing, which Charlie would take advantage of in approximately two minutes by going for his neck, but until then he remained at his belly, lightly scratching, lightly teasing, as if he hadn’t been in Nick’s place a moment ago.
Nick imagined himself turning the tables, throwing Charlie against the mattress and going for his hips, pinning his body down so that all he could do was squirm and laugh, curls becoming unruly, smile so wide it nearly blinded him. But Nick remained pinned against the wall instead, laughing helplessly, screaming when Charlie went for both throat and belly simultaneously. Not much of a tickle fight when Nick couldn’t fight back.
He got his revenge later that day, finding that Charlie let him tackle him to the bed with only ticklish protests rather than panicked protests, and Nick had already gotten used to it by that point that he couldn’t really remember a life without this, even as Charlie got him back. Nick would turn the tables, and Charlie would do it too, and they would lay side by side as residual giggles poured into the room and it would be as if this was always the norm for them, even if Nick knew it wasn’t and was proud of Charlie for daring to give it a chance.
It was funny, Nick thought the next day as he was watching Elle stick her hand beneath Tao’s chin to his hysterical laughter, even if it lasted for only a moment. Both Tao and Charlie seemed to be going through some changes nowadays.

Stupid in Love
Summary: Nick Miller is completely, 100% normal about all things Jessica Day. Including her smile, her laugh--ah, fuck. He's doomed. NickJess ft. pining!Nick
Anon: I just saw you write for New Girl! I am in my yearly rewatch of the show so I am so happy you write for it! Maybe the loft gang and CeCe can be playing a game of true American and somehow during the game it comes out that Jess is incredibly ticklish. Everyone is too focused on the game to use it to their advantage at the moment, but nick remembers and maybe later when him and Jess are together, he decided to test his new found knowledge and see just how ticklish Jess really is.
While this isn’t set during a particular episode, I was thinking HEAVILY about s2 ep15, Cooler. One of the greatest episodes of the whole show, hands down. I just wanted to write pining Nick tbh.
True American is the best goddamn game ever invented. It defines a man at his core level. Everything that’s ever mattered to Nick is on the line in this game. His dignity, his pride, his dignity…
He honestly can’t remember what they’re playing for. Something involving the sink. Or a drink? Unclear, but irrelevant. Nick is the king of an aluminum can palace and his citizens will thrive under his leadership. This is his birthright.
They’re playing True American: Catan Edition tonight. Each player defends their own small nations and attempts to crush the others, throwing their leaders to the molten lava below. It’s the smartest thing Winston’s ever come up with.
“Duel for my amusement,” Nick slurs, waving his paper towel roll scepter around. The cardboard crown on his head slips down over his eyes. Cece blows a raspberry at him. He lobs a balled-up piece of paper at her.
Jess plays a fanfare into her backup kazoo—Schmidt threw away her main one—and draws angry eyebrows onto the smiley face of her country’s flag. A declaration of war.
Sober Jess is all for political progress and human rights, but Drunk Jess? Maniacal, power-hungry, and so very hot.
Focus, Miller.
“Two, four, six, eight! Who do we appreciate?” Jess climbs onto one of the kitchen chairs and puts a colander on her head. A warrior’s helm. Nick smiles at her.
In their corner of the living room, Winston and Schmidt whisper furiously. At some point in the last hour, Winston had ascended to Grand Advisor of Schmidt’s Creek. Schmidt had lost the ability to speak after can number two, when Cece had flirted him out of all of his natural resources and a third of his land. Nick had been trying to think of how to poach Winston to Nicklandia, but he couldn’t think of a plan that didn’t involve saying ‘please’ until he passed out.
“Schmidt’s Creek will not challenge today!” Winston crushes his beer can against Schmidt’s forehead. Schmidt doesn’t even blink.
“Ruth Gader Binsburg! I challenge your weird little colony, Jess,” Cece shouts, messily hopping onto the chair next to Jess. They start some combination of swatting at each other and clutching on for dear life. Schmidt looks up at Cece like a drunk, lovesick puppy. Nick rolls his eyes.
Thank god he doesn’t look like that.
Does he look like that?
Shit. He’s missing the game.
“Yeah? Guess what—” Jess knocks her knuckles against the colander helmet, winces, and then points at Cece— “I’m the Queen of England, bitch.”
Nick’s not sure what’s elapsed in the apparently three years since he was last paying attention, but he knows by the way that Cece gasps that someone’s dying on the living room and/or kitchen floor tonight. Jess cackles and puts her hands on her hips. They start yelling, but even if they’re saying real human words, which he’s pretty sure they’re not, he’s not processing it. Jess looks so stupid in that little holey hat—someone should invent a word for that thing—and she’s adorable.
Nick leans his cheek on his palm and smiles wider. Does she know her nose scrunches when she’s annoyed?
Nick leans a little too far and loses his balance. Half of his aluminum fortress tumbles down. When he looks back up, Jess and Cece haven’t budged. Or blinked. Cece squints at Jess and it’s clear the conversation has ascended to psychic levels that even Drunk Nick can’t access. He tries though. Mostly gives himself a headache.
Something in their eye conversation must shift, because Cece gets this look on her face. Like pure, concentrated mischief. The aura off of her is so powerful that everyone scoots back a bit. Cece starts stretching and cracking her knuckles.
“Waitwaitwait, Cece, you don’t have to do this.” Jess holds her hands up in immediate surrender, but she’s smiling hard enough to brighten the room. A little nervous giggle picks up in the back of her throat and she starts to turn pinker than the boxed rosé that forms her section of the living room.
“Oh, but I do. Surrender. Now.” Cece points to the floor. Which is lava. Cruel way to go.
Jess looks at her best friend with the kind of profound resignation only possible when piss drunk. She sighs deeply, staring at the floor…
And then launches herself at Cece with a war cry.
Cece doesn’t even flinch. She catches Jess, smirks, and starts tickling her sides with vicious precision. Jess lets out a giggly shriek and crumples, sinking right down into the lava. The colander tumbles off of her head and rolls into Nick’s fortress.
The sound worms itself into Nick’s brain, taking up residence alongside all the other little Jess things that drive him nuts. It distracts him hard enough that by the time Winston arises as Supreme Leader of the Loft, Nick can’t even trace the path of his defeat.
………
Even when sobriety beats them over the head the next morning, Nick can remember nothing but the sweet music of Jess’s laugh. And the shape of her smile.
God he’s hopeless.
The slow march of the week brings some relief in the sense that a) Nick remembers that he really doesn’t do the whole ‘feelings’ thing and b) alcohol makes anyone look like an angel walking the earth. He is a grown ass man and Jess is an annoying little craft goblin. He can be normal. She’s normal. No need to get worked up over her.
“You look like Mr. Rogers’s grumpy cousin.” Jess snickers, fiddling with the sleeve of Nick’s hideous cardigan.
“You done? You finished?” He pulls his sleeve away from her. It’s really Schmidt’s, which she very well knows. Nick’s only wearing it because Schmidt’s being weird about Cece again, and the only way to survive that is to bend to his will. Schmidt’s already dehydrated himself twice this week trying to show off his muscles more, Nick doesn’t want to add to that by making the guy cry. He’d never stop.
Jess, however, doesn’t seem to understand the magnitude of this manly sacrifice. She’s too busy laughing at him.
“Mmmm, no, I don’t think I am. You look like a Muppet.” She pinches his cheek. He rolls his eyes.
“Well, that’s just a compliment.”
“No, no. You look like the bird. The bird with the eyebrows—“ Jess pauses as her giggles overtake her— “You look like Sam the Eagle.”
Jess folds over into his shoulder with laughter and smacks his chest. The warmth of it almost distracts him from the comment.
Almost.
“Yeah, laugh it up, Jess. C’mere—“ He drags her across the couch by the ankle and latches onto her sides. She makes that adorable sound again, that giggly shriek, and flails like a worm on a hook. She tries to push his face away. He swats her hands aside like it’s nothing. When reaches for him again—futile, really—he snatches her wrists in one hand, pins them down, and tickles with the other.
Her whole face burns. He chooses to ignore it for both of their sakes.
“Let me know when you’re ready to apologize. Take your time.” He does a little pinchy thing with his fingers and Jess lets out a high-pitched mess of syllables. She throws her head back and cackles, arching up into him.
“Hmm, yeah, see none of that sounded like ‘You’re the best, Nick Miller’. Try again.” He pokes all over her torso, fast and wild. He lets go of her and adds his other hand into the mix. Every time she tries to talk, he speeds up, making her laugh at his silliness along with his hands. She kicks her legs and lets out a little giggly growl. Nick smiles so wide his cheeks hurt.
“Nick!” She grabs his wrists but doesn’t stop him. His stomach flips. She’s so overwhelming.
“That’s my name.” He skitters his fingers up her ribs to distract himself from the lump in his throat.
Jess flails and nearly takes them both off the couch and into the next life. Nick catches himself before he collapses on top of her, but it puts their faces mere inches apart. The space of a breath. He can see the faint freckles across her nose, all brought forth by the pink flush down her cheeks and neck. As she catches her breath, lips parted, her laughter simmers low in her chest. He brushes her hair out of her face. His hand lingers on her cheek.
Her eyes crinkle when she smiles. Does she know that?
Nick gets the deep, burning urge to kiss her senseless. To download all these embarrassing, vulnerable thoughts from his brain to hers. To show her how deep this goes. To drink of her like the wine at restaurants he can never afford.
No. Not like this. She deserves better than this.
Than him.
He starts to pull away, awkwardly clearing his throat. Jess surges forward and Nick’s stupid little monkey brain gleefully claps its hands together, shouting this is it! It’s happening! Nick’s brain activity screeches to a halt. He stares at her mouth and freezes.
Jess flips them over and starts tickling his ears like some kind of insane supervillain.
“No! Jessica!” He turtles and attempts to fling himself to safety. All he accomplishes is hanging off the back of the couch, leaving his knees in reach of Jess’s evil nails—
One day he will be smart about Jessica Day, but he concedes that it won’t be today. But as she destroys him and Schmidt’s stupid, hopefully inexpensive cardigan, he secretly hopes the day never arrives.

Let Me Show You How it's Done
Ler! Charlie Lee! Nick with some Lee! Charlie
Heartstopper Tickle Fic Incoming! It's no secret that Nick always tickles Charlie every chance he gets. Charlie, being a bit smaller and weaker than his boyfriend, never seems quite able to turn the tables, that is, until he recruits the assistance of Nick's older brother David who wants to help Charlie get some well deserved revenge. (Set in a context that David isn't a jerk of a brother/human being).
Charlie and Nick spent plenty of time spending afternoons and evenings together doing homework, playing Mario Kart, and on particularly nice evenings, walking Nellie.
This was a particularly rainy and chilly evening, and Nick and Charlie had just finished their end of term essays for literature and history and were getting ready to watch a movie. They were at Nick's house this evening and Nick's mother was working a bit later than usual. She'd promised to pick them all up a pizza later when she returned. Nick's older brother David just so happened to be home for spring break from university and had left Nick and Charlie alone in the den to finish homework and enjoy each other's company in peace.
Well, as much peace as the couple could have, considering that Nick frequently would wrestle Charlie onto the sofa during movie nights and video game sessions to tickle the snot out of his lanky and curly headed boyfriend. This was nothing new, of course. Nick felt that Charlie's squeals and snorts were precious, and Charlie could hardly mind. After all, he deserved it for laughing at Nick for his choice in cinema taste for their impromptu movie night.
"NihihihIHIHICK, stahahahaHAHAHPIT," Charlie squealed as his brawny and much stronger boyfriend pinched at his tummy, easily a bad spot for Charlie.
"I don't think so, Charlie," Nick chuckled down at his boyfriend teasingly. "You enjoy laughing at my expense so much, laughing at my movie selection. Besides, there's nothing wrong with The Princess Bride! It's a fantastic film!" Nick dug into Charlie's sides with renewed vigor, pretending to be insulted.
And poor Charlie was now realizing he never should have commented that it was ironic that the Captain of the rugby team's favorite movie was something as hokey as The Princess Bride.
"ALRIHIHIHIGHT! I'M SORHEHEHEHEHEHEEEEEEEEEE!" Charlie screeched as Nick reached for his sensitive knee caps, squeezing into the muscle right above and relishing his boyfriends precious laughter.
"Hmmm, I don't know if I believe you," Nick smirked as Charlie squirmed desperately.
Eventually, Nick ceased his tickle attack in favor of making them some popcorn, leaving Charlie to giggle and rub the residual tickly sensations from the backs of his knees. Man, some days he wished Nick never discovered just how ticklish the backs of his knees were.
Charlie heard a soft chuckle from the staircase. Unknown to Nick, David had observed their one-sided tickle fight from the stair landing.
"You really make him happy," David commented.
"Er, thanks..." Charlie replied awkwardly.
"I'm sure Nick is happy not to be on the receiving end of tickle fights anymore as well," David snorted slightly.
"Oh, believe me, I've tried," Charlie could hear the popcorn in the microwave from the kitchen start popping. He dropped his voice, "Nick just isn't that ticklish."
"Rubbish. You just aren't getting his tickle spots," David supplied with a wink.
"But he's a lot stronger than me," Charlie grumbled. "Anytime I try to tickle him, he quickly turns the tables."
David laughed fondly. He was rather amused watching their antics. But David was Nick's big brother. He had loads of experience tickling the snot out of Nick and had no problem with teaching Charlie his little brothers worst spots.
"Why don't I give you a hand?" David dropped his voice upon hearing the microwave ding. Nick would be on his way back with the popcorn in just a few moments.
Charlie nodded, excited at the idea of learning how to tickle Nick and getting some well-deserved revenge for all the times Nick tortured him.
David walked over near the entrance of the kitchen, just out of view, to sneak attack Nick.
When Nick returned with a giant bowl of popcorn, David tackled him sending the buttery popcorn flying and Nick letting out a surprised yelp.
"David? What the hell?" Nick attempted to escape the expert hold but was unsuccessful and still in such shock that the popcorn lay scattered about, forgotten. Charlie watched with a smirk, enjoying the show.
"Come here, Charlie, let me show you how it's done!" David plopped Nick down on the sofa, still confused before Nick felt his heart drop.
"Now Nick has two death spots," David winked at Nick, who was now pinned beneath his brother and the sofa, writhing about, knowing all too well where this was going.
"D-David, don't!" Nick yelped.
"Don't what?" David asked innocently.
"Tickle me!" Nick screeched, suddenly realizing what a fatal mistake he made. He could've kicked himself! How could he fall for the teases he pulled on Charlie all the time?
"Hear that, Charlie? He's given us permission. Hell, he's basically asked for this!" David crowed.
David had Nick's arm pinned above his head and had his fingers wiggling just above Nick's underarm.
"His hips and armpits are really ticklish, if I remember right..." David chuckled darkly. Of course, he remembered correctly. Big brothers don't forget tickle spots of younger siblings.
Charlie climbed over to smirk down at Nick. "Not so tough now, are we?"
"Bite me!" Nick growled, but it sounded more like a whimper.
"You better get your revenge now, Charlie!"
Charlie looked into Nick's pleading eyes and almost took pity on the older boy. Almost.
And that's when Charlie latched onto Nick's hips, and David dug roughly into his underarms, and Nick absolutely shrieked with laughter. Charlie couldn't help but chuckle at Nick's plight.
"Jeez, Nick! You're worse than me!" Charlie crowed triumphantly, digging harshly into the hip pockets, causing Nick to flop around uselessly.
"SCREHEHEHEHEW YOHOHOHOHOUU GUHUHUHUYS!" Nick cackled.
Nick hadn't been tickled in two of his worst spots in a very, very long time. Even when David had tickled him in their younger days, it was only one person tickling him. Now, both his older brother and boyfriend were torturing his two worst tickle spots. Not fair!
Nick continued to gasp and spultter as Charlie and David exploited his worst tickle spots.
"OKAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAY! OKAHAHAHAHAHAHAY!" Nick squeaked.
Charlie enjoyed watching Nick come apart at the seams. After all, the rugby captain deserved it for tormenting him so many times.
Finally, David gestured for Charlie, who had gotten too carried away with tickling Nick to tears, to cease their tickle attack only after Nick's laughter had gone silent and wheezy.
Charlie had reluctantly stopped tickling his boyfriend and gave him some space as David released his hold and affectionately ruffled Nick's already messed up hair.
"Sorry, Nick, but I felt like your boyfriend could use some revenge. You were pretty brutal while you were tickling him earlier," David chuckled.
"Did we go too far?" Charlie peeked sideways at his boyfriend after David retreated upstairs after cleaning up the popcorn mess scattered on the floor.
"Just wait until I get you back." Nick wrapped his arms around Charlie, not tickling him, not just yet, as he knew anticipation would drive Charlie mad. Charlie tensed but giggled as he enjoyed knowing he could now reduce Nick to a squirmy puddle of laughter.
"I would be careful if I were you," Charlie murmured. "I now know your worst spots, and I'll just get you back."
Nick shivered, but he couldn't help but be excited to find out if Charlie really would get him back. Nick really didn't mind it so much, after all.

Entry Requirement
a/n: whipped this up in one sitting, so anyone should be eternaly grateful. if there are any parts that don't make sense or sound wrong, blame it on the fact that it is now 4am ♡
Summary: Movie night, it's a classic.
Ship: Nick/Charlie
1809 words
Wednesday
"My mum will be out of town on Saturday."
"Hm?"
"I was thinking, we could do that movie night we've been talking about."
"..."
"Charlie."
A nudge of an elbow eventually tore the younger boy away from his essay.
"Look what you've done! Now my 'T' is all squiggly."
Nick simply smiled, shooting innocent eyes at his form partner.
"Did you hear what I said?"
Charlie huffed a little as he tried to save the untidy letter by tracing over it a couple of times. "When?"
"Just now."
Charlie paused and stared blankly at Nick.
Nick chuckled and shook his head. "Movie night, Saturday."
"Oh. Yeah, sounds good." He paused. "Should we invite Tao and Elle?"
Nick shrugged, leaning back in his chair and folding his arms over his chest. "Do you want to invite them?"
Charlie's eyes flickered down briefly, noticing the fabric of Nick's shirt stretch across the older boy's broad shoulders.
"Uh... Y-Yeah? Well-... Actually, I don't know if we'll be able to settle on anything to watch with Tao there. So, maybe-... Maybe next time."
The corner of Nick's mouth curled upwards and he nodded. "Sounds fair. I was hoping it would only be the two of us."
Charlie felt a flutter in the center of his chest and was unable to hold back the grin that split his face in two. "Yeah?."
Nick nodded, leaning forward and picking up his own pen again. "So, I'll sort out the snacks and you can pick what to watch."

Saturday
Saturday couldn't come early enough. It had been a few weeks since the two had officially started 'going out', but it all still felt pretty surreal to Charlie.
Being paired up with Nick had been the single best thing to ever happen to him. He could even look past all the bad things that had happened over the last months since they brought him right to this point.
"I'm heading out!" Charlie called from where he stood, flattening out his hair in the mirror by the front door.
"Alright! Have fun! Be back by eleven, please!"
"Okay!"
Although the walk to Nick's house took barely 10 minutes, on days like these it felt like an eternity.
Before Charlie even had the chance to reach out for the doorbell, the door swung open.
"Hi!"
"...H-Hi."
Nick grinned. "I was in the kitchen, I saw you coming."
They leaned in for a short kiss.
"Oh, resulted to stalking now, have we?" Charlie teased as he stepped into the house.
Nick scoffed and ruffled the younger boy's hair, knowing fully well he had probably spent the last 20 minutes obsessing over making them lay perfect.
"Hey!"
"What?"
"Don't think, just because you're cute, you can get away with everything, Nicholas," Charlie warned teasingly as he hung up his coat and tore off his Converse.
Nick slid his hands into the pockets of his joggers, his head tilting to one side slightly. "Haven't I already?"
The beeping of the microwave cut off any chance for a snarky comeback.
"Oh, the popcorn." Nick rushed to the kitchen, retrieving the hot packet and doing his best not to burn himself as he transferred the contents to a nearby bowl. "So, what did you bring us?"
Charlie pulled an impressive stack of DVD cases out of the bag he had brought, setting them down on the counter. "A bit of everything."
Nick's eyebrows flew up as he stepped closer, already a handful of popcorn in his mouth. "Wow."
"I thought we could start off with something solid, you know, to get the ball rolling; Then move on to something a bit more angsty, something more emotional, and then top it off with a feel-good rom com."
The corners of Nick's mouth bowed downwards as a sign of being impressed. "You really planned this out, haven't you?"
"Just a bit," Charlie admitted coyly, rubbing the back of his neck.
"Nerd." Nick reached out and pinched Charlie's waist as he passed, leading the way to the living room.
With a gasp and a yip, Charlie's arm flew down again. But before he could even process what had happened, the older boy had already disappeared from view. He gathered the cases and followed the sound of a coke can opening.
"So, how come your mum is out of town?"
"Oh, she has this seminar thing for her work to attend. She thought about driving all the way back in the evening but her company said they'd cover all expenses, so she managed to snag a pretty smart room. It's at this old converted farm in the country, so she took Nellie along too. Get her to sniff some new trees."
Charlie smiled as he plopped down next to Nick, their legs brushing together from the movement. It seemed that Nick had not held back on his end of the bargain. The coffee table held a spread of different drinks, confectionaries, chocolates and even one large pizza. The sight made Charlie a little queasy but he pushed it aside for now.
"So, which film you starting us off with then?"
"Avatar."
"Ooh, blue guys. I'm into it. Let's go!"

2 Movies Later
"Are you crying?"
"Wh- No!"
"Nick."
" 'm not."
"You totally are!"
"Listen, that dog has no right being so chill about his own death!"
"Oh, you're crying about the dog. I thought it had something to do with Owen Wilson."
A watery laugh. "Come on. Anyone with a heart would cry at that scene."
Charlie raised his eyebrows as Nick looked over at him.
"Well, anyone except for you, obviously. You're a heartless knob."
Charlie laughed, smushing himself into the backrest of the couch as he watched Nick use the sleeves of his hoodie to wipe the tears from his face. The older boy rested his head back, eyes fixed on the ceiling as he cleared his throat a couple times to free out the lump that had formed.
"You're a mess." Charlie stated simply. He reached out, his arm coming to lay on top of the backrest while his fingers gently brushed through the other's fair hair.
Nick snorted and rubbed his hands over his face. "I am! You did this to me."
Charlie smirked. "Had I only known about this power earlier, you wo-"
Wham!
A pillow hit the younger boy square in the face. As it dropped to his lap, his face stayed frozen, mouth holding onto the words it had been forming.
Nick looked like he hadn't moved an inch. Only the smug smirk on his lips and the quivering shoulders of silent laughter gave him away.
Charlie slowly recovered and picked up the pillow. Less than two seconds later they were a mess of entangled blankets and limbs, each trying to get the upper hand over the other while shouting and laughing.
"Just admit it! Everyone knows you're a Slytherin anyway!"
"I didn't realise I was talking to the Sorting Hat himself-- Oof!"
The full weight of a 16-year old rugby player landed on top of Charlie, almost knocking all the wind from his lungs. "Jesus."
"I will stay right here until you admit that Marley's death is the saddest in cinematic history."
"Really?"
Nick lifted his head, looking down with mock seriousness. "Does it look like I'm joking?"
"It's honestly kind of hard to tell-"
"Your call, Spring."
Charlie chuckled as the older boy slumped back down against his chest.
The lay in silence for a while, the only sound the music playing over the end-credits and their slightly laboured breathing.
"This is actually kind of nice," Nick mumbled, nuzzling his nose against the other's shoulder.
"Yeah?"
"Uh-huh. I see why you use me as a pillow all of the time."
"Let's not let this become a habit though, hm?"
Nick lifted his head. "Why n-Ah! Oi!"
Slender fingers had slipped under the older boy's hoodie and were now pinching at the wearers sides, causing him to jerk and bury his face in Charlie's shoulder.
"Would you look at that. Big rugby boy is ticklish. Who would have thought."
A giggle came as a response as the wandering fingers reached Nick's lower ribs. Nick grabbed onto Charlie's wrists, forcing them back down.
"You're one toho ta-Ah-alk!"
"Sorry, I'm what? Didn't catch that."
Nick's nose scrunched up and in one swift movement he was on his knees, Charlie's hands pinned above his head.
"I said, 'You're one to talk.', Nick replied, cheeks slightly flushed and hair in an untidy mess.
Charlie opened his mouth to reply but the words never made it out. Instead a sharp gasp, followed by a cry, followed by manic cackling filled the room.
Both of Charlie's hands pinned with one of Nick's, the older boy was free to do as he pleased. His large hand easily latched onto the smaller boy's ribcage, even through the jumper he was wearing.
"Nn-aahahah! Ni- Niihiihick!"
"You thought I hadn't noticed? Thought I was just going to let it slide? Perhaps you don't know me very well after all."
"Shahaaahdaahaahp!"
Nick felt a warm fuzziness in his stomach as he watch closely, the squirming boy beneath him. Something about the boisterous laugh and those neat dimples just left him slightly weak in the knees.
This short moment of distraction was all Charlie needed. He managed to free one of his hands out of the death grip and shot it to the nearest spot he could think of to attack. Nick's armpit. Even through the layers of hoodie and t-shirt, the unexpected sensation took the rugby player completely off guard.
His arm buckled and Nick collapsed between Charlie and the back of the couch, shaking his head as no words managed to pass through the wall of wheezy laughter.
Charlie gazed down at Nick's face. This was a sight he was positive he had not seen before. The look of pure euphoria mixed with a hint of agony was not an image he would be able to forget any time soon.
"Truce?"
Nick nodded, trying and failing to squirm away from the ongoing onslaught.
"What was that?" Charlie asked, halting the armpit attack but using his other, now free, hand to brush along the older boy's neck.
"Trucetrucetrucetruce," Nick spluttered, scrunching up his shoulders protectively and swatting at Charlie's hand.
The attack ended. The last remaining giggles subsided and all that was left were huffs of recovering breaths.
Charlie found himself combing his fingers through Nick's hair once more, while the latter nuzzled against his shoulder.
"How did you do that?" Nick mumbled after a few minutes.
"Didn't you hear? All beefy rugby boys must be ridiculously ticklish. It's an entry requirement. Also, did you forget? I have a little brother."
Nick chuckled into Charlie's shoulder, blindly finding a free hand to intertwine his fingers with.
"Why are we like this?"
End.

Older Sister Magic
Fandom: Heartstopper (Charlie, Tori, Nick)
Summary: Tori teaches Nick how to deal with Charlie when he has too much energy in a way only an older sister could.
Content warnings: tickling, mild swearing
A/N: I wrote this fic while I was reading Solitaire (a book by the writer of Heartstopper Alice Oseman with Tori as the main character) and I think I based the characters more on the way they were presented in the book than in the series. But it's no problem if you haven't read the book, you'll still be able to follow :) I just wanted to clarify that.
Tori slowly exhaled when Charlie let out the millionth teasing remark that day. He seemed to be in a particularly excited mood today - which meant he had to find ways to release his energy. And lovingly taunting his sister turned out to be one of them.
Tori turned her head and directed her look at her brother's boyfriend, who was sat on the floor beside her. "Okay, now listen up Nicolas. This is how you deal with one Charles Spring whenever he gets his moods: watch and learn."
Charlie's expression switched from confused to panicked as soon as his older sister lunged - actually lunged, Jesus Christ, we're talking about Tori here - at him and pressed his back into the sofa cushion. He gasped and immediately raised his hands for protection.
"Victoria NO, don't you dahare-"
She only had to wiggle her fingers at her brother for him to burst out giggling. "Please dohon't!"
Nick observed the whole thing unfold with great interest. Of course he'd known that Charlie was ticklish, the two had had their fair share of tickle fights over the past months. But what surprised him were his boyfriend's reactions. Whenever Nick had tickled him, he'd usually just let it happen. He'd obviously always tried to win back the upper hand, but pleading had always only been his last resource. However, right now Charlie was basically begging although Tori hadn't done a thing yet.
"How is he already in a state like this when you haven't even touched him yet? I've maybe managed to make him beg for mercy once, and that was after tickling him for minutes", Nick exclaimed, eyes jumping from Tori to Charlie and back. Tori shrugged and grinned.
"Older sister magic. I won't deny that you know Charlie very well, but there are things that only years of experience can teach you. How to tickle the living hell out of your younger brother to punish him for being a massive pain in the neck, for example."
Charlie looked like he was losing his mind, he squirmed and weakly pushed at his sister's hands, although they were still just hovering above him. Streams of anticipatory giggles were pouring out of him.
"Nick plehease, please help me! Don't let her!", Charlie pleaded desperately and with his best puppy eyes. Tori poked his stomach which made him flinch and let out the softest whine. Nick couldn't remember ever having had such a fond smile on his lips. He shook his head and chuckled.
"I'm sorry Charlie, but I was told to watch and learn. And one shall never miss the opportunity to educate oneself further." Charlie's laughter made it evident that he didn't mean the "Screw you!" he blurted out seriously. However, Nick decided to continue his act and gasped dramatically.
"Screw me? Charles Spring, how dare you! I would have stayed on neutral ground, but this demands action. In fact, I think I'll offer my help to someone else." Charlie's eyes widened when Nick made his way towards them and, before he had time to react, grabbed his wrists and pinned them left and right of his head. Tori smirked while Charlie panicked.
"No no no wait, let go- Victoria no, stop- ahaha stohohop it! Plehease!"
Charlie squeezed his eyes shut and tilted his head back while laughter poured out of him. Tori's fingers were scribbling and prodding at his upper ribs, right below his exposed underarms. As if that wasn't enough to drive Charlie mad, she placed her hands on his arms, just below the elbows, and let them travel downwards. And whenever she'd crossed his armpit and had reached his ribs again, she changed direction and traveled upwards again. Her touches were light, so light in fact that Charlie's laughter had died down to soft, high-pitched giggles. But the softness of the sensations had Charlie in constant anxiety of it getting worse, so his nerves were completely on edge and he was twitching and squirming constantly.
"You are so mehean!", he spluttered through his giggles. Tori raised her eyebrows.
"Oh sure, we are mean. Let me remind you who was pestering everyone all day long: surprise, that was you." She stressed the last four words with a poke to Charlie's tummy for every word, making him giggle uncontrollably. Then she paused, just long enough to give him a false sense of security, before she continued the poking, wandering from his stomach to his sides to his ribs and back again.
Nick couldn't help but burst out laughing at his boyfriend's reaction - squeals, high-pitched giggles and shakes of the head - and he felt his heart flutter at the sight.
"And I seriously thought you couldn't get any more adorable. Turns out all it takes is a little older sister magic." He and Tori exchanged a look and it was just full of shared love and fondness for the laughing boy beneath them.
"Shut uhup! I will- ahaha Gohod, Vic- Tohori quihit it, I'm going to die", Charlie gasped when his sister focused her attack on the part of his ribcage where his sides met his back. He was positively shaking with laughter by now and constantly tried to free his wrists, but he didn't really have any strength left to effect something. Tori made him squeal by pinching his lowest rib.
"You know the rules, dear brother. First you apologize, then you can beg. Because it falls on deaf ears if you do it before saying sorry." She did halt her attack a few seconds later though, because Charlie hadn't responded and his laughter had been on the verge of turning silent. Nick felt relieved to see her do that. It showed him that while she knew exactly how to exploit her brother's ticklish weakness, she also recognized when it became too much. She'd never go too far. And she'd stop if he really needed her to, should he give her any signs of distress or discomfort.
But Charlie didn't give any of those signals. On the contrary, as soon as he'd caught his breath, he smirked at his sister. "Just to clarify, what exactly do you want me to apologize for? For pointig out your lacking skills at Mario Kart or for reminding you that diet lemonade isn't supposed to replace food just because it has the word diet in it?"
Nick snorted in a mixture of amusement and disbelief at his boyfriend's sass. Tori tried to keep her pokerface, but she had to bite back a smile. "Okay that's it. Knees."
While talking, she grabbed her brother's legs and lifted them until she could rest his calves on top of the sofa's backrest so that his legs were bent about ninety degrees. But she definitely had to fight to get and keep them there, because as soon as she'd finished talking, Charlie's eyes had widened and he'd started struggling and shaking his head.
"Nono I take it back, I take it back! I apologize, Victoria I'm sorry, I won't- No please dohon't, you know I can't take it!" Tori grinned and ran her hand through his messy hair. "Yes you can. And if not then I hope this will teach you not to bite off more than you can chew."
Charlie let his head fall back and looked up at his boyfriend whose smile appeared to be upside-down. "Nick please let me go, I'm sorry for teasing you", he asserted with an almost shy grin.
Nick bit his lip and remained silent for a moment. Then he clicked his tongue and nodded. "Alright."
And he let the younger's wrists go. Charlie didn't feel triumph or relief though. Something about this was off. But realization again hit too late, and Nick had already gone behind the sofa and grabbed his ankles, securely pinning them to the backrest. Tori chuckled with satisfaction.
"Uh-oh. Now someone's in trouble."
Charlie, to their surprise, didn't even try to fend them off. He just let his head fall back and covered his face with his hands. Soft, muffled giggles were already spilling out. "You two are the wohorst!", he exclaimed, but there couldn't be less malice and more affection in a person's voice. Nick couldn't help but melt right then and there. He would've kissed Charlie, but his position didn't allow that. So he squeezed his knee instead, snickering at the squeak it provoked.
"You mean the three of us, don't act all innocent now. I haven't forgotten the last time you were tickling the breath out of me and you didn't show me mercy then, either!" Charlie uncovered his face and smirked mischievously.
"Yeah I remember that. I'm still amazed by how high your voice can go when your neck is tickled." Nick pressed his lips together as he felt his face heat up, not able to hold eye contact. Tori snorted.
"Honestly, I'm not surprised he never has to beg you, if he can fluster you that easily he's basically won." Nick blushed even more, but he shot her a betrayed look.
"Shut up Tori! We're supposed to be on the same side!" She pulled up her shoulders in a defensive gesture. "Just saying! But let me point out something far more important: do you know why Charlie's legs are on the backrest?"
Nick looked a bit startled by the sudden change of theme. But Tori didn't wait for an answer. Instead she lifted one hand and slowly approached her brother's legs with it.
"You see, while his knees may be extremely ticklish, the true weak spot is right here." And she placed her hand on the back of Charlie's knee, which was exposed due to the nintey-degree angle of his legs. The touch alone was enough to make Charlie burst out laughing, but his laugh became louder and breathier once Tori began spidering her fingers all over the back of his knee.
"Ah Gohod! It's so bad it's so bahad, V-Victoria please!"
When the urge to move his legs away became too great to bear, he began drumming his feet on the cushions as Nick's grip didn't allow any bigger movement. He'd already tried to fight Tori off, but even without his arms being pinned it remained hopeless. Everything just got ten times worse when his lovely boyfriend decided to joing the attack by gently squeezing the front of his knee and thigh with one hand.
Charlie's body was shaking with laughter. Three hands simultaneously tickling the front and back of his knees and thighs were simply too much for him to stand. He gasped for air until he managed to form words.
"Please! Pleasepleaseplease quihit it! I cahan't-" Tori suddenly abandoned his legs and began tickling all over his upper body again. She was laughing happily while doing it. "Why Charlie? Does it tickle too much?"
Charlie didn't answer at first because he was just listening to his sister's laugh. It made him feel a great warmth. But then she slid her hands under his shirt to scribble over his bare sides and Charlie was done for.
"Dahamn it Tori! Yehes it DOES!"
"Hmm alright. I think I'm ready to hear your apology now. What about you Nick?"
Nick shook his head and laughed. "I've forgiven him a long time ago." Tori pretended to be sick. "Ew. You're so cheesy, loverboy."
She then stooped tickling her brother. "Alright Charles, this better be good." Charlie was busy gasping for breath and letting out residual giggles. His legs slumped down from the backrest and he lightly curled up. Once he'd calmed down enough, he turned on his back and outstretched his arms in an invitation for a hug.
"Sorry", he said, and there they were, his puppy eyes. Tori sighed. Then she rolled her eyes and shot Nick a glance. "Okay I take that back." Then, leaning down to hug her brother: "Fine, you're forgiven for your impossibly annoying behaviour."
Charlie giggled and let his sister pull him up into a sitting position, which made room for Nick to plop down on the sofa on his other side. They sat there in silence for a while, then Charlie said: "Should we play Mario Kart? I'm tired out now, so you might actually stand a chance to defeat me."
Tori cursed and her nimble fingers were back on Charlie's body before he could even blink, tickling him all over. Charlie squealed and leaned against Nick in an attempt to get as far away from his sister's hands as possible. "Listen up you brat, I'm the Mario Kart expert in this house, don't you ever dare question that. You won once because you set up Oliver to distract me and that's it. So as long as you can't defeat me in a fair fight you better keep your sassy remarks to yourself. Did you get that?"
"Yes I dihid, I'm sorry! I'm sorry, plehease stop tickling me!" Tori stopped and Charlie curled up in Nick's lap. The latter watched the two siblings with great fondness.
He stroked his boyfriend's hair until he'd calmed down, then he clapped his hands. "Okay. Let's go play Mario Kart, I need a lot more training before I stand a chance against either of you."
A/N I think this is my fave fic I've written so far, I would be very happy if you let me know what you think of it ^^
(and has anyone here read the book and got the inside jokes? :D)

The Nellie Debate
Heartstopper (tickle fic)
Tumblr media
Summary: Charlie and Nick get into a little debate about who Nellie likes more.
Lees: Charlie and Nick
Lers: Nick and Nellie
Authors Note: Just a little something I wanted to write with Nellie. Hope you enjoy 💖
Tagging: @happyandticklish @writingwitharlo @ticklepinions @nhasablogg @ticklishraspberries
*————————————————————————*
Charlie scratched behind Nellie’s ears while sitting on the floor of Nick’s room. The two were hanging out after school, as they always do, and were having a nice relaxing time just being in each other’s presence.
Nick sneaked a few pictures and videos of the cute interaction, adding it to the Cute Char Moments album.
A minute of head and ear scratching later, Charlie joined Nick on his bed. He snuggled up close against his chest, grabbing one of Nick’s hands to hold.
“You and Nellie are getting along well.” Nick stated squeezing Charlie’s hand for comfort.
“Yeah. She’s really adorable. And I love how excited she gets when I come over.”
“Aww yeah. She’s always excited to see me, but I will agree that because she sees me more often she gets really excited to see you.
“I think Nellie just likes me more than you.” Charlie skittered his nails across Nick’s hand causing him to jerk.
“That ihis so not true. You just met her a couple months ago. I’ve known her for years.”
“Love at first sight I guess.” Charlie turned and booped Nick’s nose. “Oh that’s it-” Nick grabbed Charlie’s waist.
Charlie giggled excitedly as he tried to push at the arms wrapping around his midsection. He soon found his arms pinned to his sides as Nick held him close to his chest. A bear hug of sorts.
“Nihick let go!” Charlie tried twisting out of his grip. Nick sarcastically thought for a moment before delivering a “No, I don’t think I will.”
Nick whistled at Nellie to get her attention. The dog peeking her head up and turning it to the side.
“Get him! Get him, Nellie!” Nick called to his border collie. The dog sprung to life, jumping up on the bed towards her owner’s boyfriend.
She sniffed Charlie’s neck a few times, much to Charlie’s dismay, then started giving his face and neck some kisses.
“No! Nohohohoho! Nehehehehelie!” Charlie scrunched his shoulders and twisted his head. This only caused Nellie to go to the other side of his neck to sniff and lick there.
“I thought you liked Nellie. She’s just giving you some kisses.” Nick said kissing Charlie’s temple. He tried his best to avoid getting head-butted. “Do you not like Nellie, Charlie?” Nick sarcastically questioned.
“I dohohon’t lihihike you rihight nohohohow!” Charlie squealed when Nellie moved to his ears. Nick dramatically gasped. “Did you hear that Nellie?!”
Charlie’s voice went up an octave at the playful banter, and because Nellie nuzzled behind his ear.
“I wasn’t gonna help Nellie, but seeing as you already don’t like me.” Nick shrugged and wiggled his fingers against Charlie’s sides where he was bear hugging him.
“NOHOHOHOHO! NIHIHICK!” Charlie tried to arch his back or lurch forward. But between Nellie and his rugby lad of a boyfriend, he was stuck.
“Tickle~ Tickle~ Tickle Char~” Nick teased sneaking his hands down to squeeze Charlie’s hips.
A shriek caused Nellie to stop and back up, but made Nick continue. “Does someone have ticklish hips?” Nick kissed behind Charlie’s ear.
“YOU KNOHOHOHOW IHI DOHOHOHO MEHEHEHEHEANIE!”
Nick let up a little and instead softly scribbled against his sides. Charlie melted into the touch, sweet chortles and high pitched little squeals caught Nellie’s attention.
“Nehehellie! Hehehelp! Gehet Nihick!” Chalrie managed to day through his hysterical giggles.
“Nellie-” But before Nick could stop her, Nellie barked and attacked Nick’s neck and ears with kisses.
“Nehehehellie! Nononohohohoho!” Nick’s grip on Charlie loosened. Charlie took this opportunity to break free and scoot to the edge of the bed.
Nick tried lightly shoving at Nellie and scooting away, but that only led him to sliding onto his back. Nellie persisted in her tickly attack, making sure to sneak a few nuzzles at Nick’s side before moving back to his neck.
“Okay. Okay. He’s had enough. C’mere, Nellie!” Charlie got off the bed and called to Nellie.
She jumped off the bed and ran over to Charlie. She rolled onto her side, looking up at Charlie with pleading eyes.
Charlie scratched her tummy, just like she wanted, and laughed when he saw her tail wag.
Nick sat up, trying to glare at the pair but couldn’t stop smiling. “You two are mean.”
“Us? You made her attack me first!” “Yeah I guess you’re right on that one.” They both laughed.
The rest of the day was spent playing video games and cuddling. Nellie joining at the foot of the bed.

"Our Colony depends on you, ranger." The video echoed dramatically.
"Alright troopers!" The lazer tag attendant bubbled in very obviously fake enthusiasm. "Any questions about our safety rules?"
"I know we can't hit each other with the phasers, but fists are fair game right?" Tao grinned, getting a chuckle from Elle and Tara.
The attendant tried to stifle a laugh. "With some of the kids I've had to deal with today I wish they were."
"We're good to go, thanks." Charlie smiled.
It was his 17th birthday, and his 6 favourite people had all assembled for a battle of lazer tag at their local arcade. While Charlie, Tao, Elle, and Issac were all well versed in the game, the others were less confident. But their lack of skill did not result in a lack of playful arrogance and boasting.
The group, now alone in the 'training' room, were constantly engaging in teasing challenges and joking threats, until Tao added an interesting extra rule.
"Let's change this up a little..." He smirked. "For extra points, you can tickle our birthday boy-" he ruffled the hair on Charlie's blushing head - "while singing happy birthday as loudly as possible."
"Awww, Charlie's ticklish?!" Tara beamed at the newfound information.
Nick chuckled, nodding eagerly. He was one of the few in the group who knew just how much Charlie both loved getting tickled, and how embarrassed he got by it.
At the encouraging smiles and comments from his friends, Tao's voice took on a dramatic inflection. "If you finish the song, you automatically and instantly win the game..."
"Sounds easy enough, as long as we can be heard over Charlie's giggles." Elle smiled playfully.
"But! If someone shoots you then you're unable to tickle or sing 'til you're back online. And, if Charlie is shot then he can't be tickled 'til he's online."
Chuckles of agreement blended with the group's footsteps as they made their way into the armoury. Donning their obnoxious flickering vests and grasping their phasers, they maneuvered into the almost pitch black darkness.
Charlie's heart thumped as his eyes adjusted to the low light around him. Lazer tag adrenalizes him enough without the added threat of tickles. The somewhat cringy announcement countdown began, as Charlie settled himself in a corner of the arena. The wait began.
Sounds of lasers, shrieks and triumphant cries echoed around him as Charlie sat impatiently. Waiting to hear footsteps or muttering walk past. He managed to sniper Nick a few times, silently giggling to himself at his boyfriend's confusion.
His giggles grew to a squeal as hands wrapped around his body.
"Happy Birthday to you~!" Issac sang loudly, wriggling his fingers into Charlie's armpits. "Happy bir- damnit..."
Darcy's laugh from the darkness revealed Charlie's saviour, as Issac slunk away waiting for his jacket to reilluminate.
There was barely a minute of reprieve before someone else's claws latched to his sides.
Tara began to sing, and usually Charlie would enjoy her voice, but her slender fingers were absolutely agonizing squeezing against him. She barely got through the first two happy birthdays before a shot deactivated her suit.
"Aww... I was enjoying that." Tara frowned teasingly. "Your laugh is really cute Char."
The poor boy blushed, clinging to his gun and stumbling away in a giggly mess.
As much as Charlie was enjoying it (though he'd never admit it), he did still want to win. He was on the hunt, shooting anything that moved along with the extra lights scattered around the arena which gave bonus points. The satisfying groans from Tao or Darcy made him smile each time he hit them, and of course it was hilarious to continuously shoot Nick from behind. There was something cartoonishly comical about just how long it took him to realise where the shots were coming from.
He was about to shoot Nick for the fourth time, before Elle grabbed him under the arms. He let out a shriek, muffling the sounds of the first line of her Happy Birthday song.
"Happy birthday to you~! Isn't it great that Tao knew exactly how to make you smile on your birthday!" She beamed, holding up an absolutely limp giggly Charlie. "Happy birthday dear gigglesss~ and the absolute cutest giggles at that."
Her soft teasing throughout, though it completely won over Charlie's nervous system, took just too long for her to win overall, as Tao managed to whip round the corner and shoot Elle in the shoulder.
"Tao! I almost had him!" Elle groaned, a smile still stuck on her face.
Tao didn't respond, fully focused on running straight towards a still giggly Charlie collapsed on the floor. Somehow the two ended up in an awkward seated bear hug, giving Tao the perfect position to reach Charlie's stomach from behind. Tao sped through the birthday song, fingers scribbling at double the speed of his words. He was about to finish the final line when.
*PEW!*
Elle's victorious face peeked over her blaster as Charlie's vest powered down.
"Ugh no! I was so close!" Tao grumbled. "This is your fault!" He directed at Charlie with playful annoyance, fingers still wiggling against the man. "If you didn't squirm so much I would have finished that song!"
"THIHIHIS IHIHIS AGAHAHAHAINST THE RUHUHULES!" Charlie squealed. "IHIHI'M SHOHOT SO YOHOHOU CAHAHAHAN'T DOHOHO IHIT ANY MOHOHORE!"
"Consider it revenge for getting shot!" Tao grinned, finishing his friend off before running around the corner.
Once Charlie was back online, he weakly shot a rapidly approaching Elle. He couldn't take another round just yet.
Footsteps thudded eagerly behind him. In his giggle-drunk fear his 3 blind shots that he fired as he turned ricocheted off the walls around him. He let out a yelp of confusion as Darcy shot him in the chest and practically tackled him to the ground.
The 10 seconds of waiting for him to come back online were some of the longest and most fear-inducing of his life.
The moment the lights on his jacket came on again Darcy plunged her fingers towards his stomach and began singing (or, more accurately, yelling) Happy birthday.
"DAHAHAHARCY!" Charlie begged, squealing and thrashing from side to side.
"Shh!" She laughed, continuing the song. "Happy birthday dear charlieeeee!"
"PLEHEHEHEASE NOHOHOHO!"
"You could just shoot me..." She smirked. "Unless, you're having just as much fun as we are..."
Charlie's eyes shot to the ground, right as Tara shot Darcy. In his embarrassment he almost became Tara's victim once more but managed to scramble to his feet and shoot her before running away.
The nimble and still-giggly Charlie managed to shoot Tao as he escaped, dodging through cracks in the walls and around pillars. He spotted Elle slinking past him, oblivious to her soon-to-be attacker. Lining up his shot, he guided the red laser light through several holes in the arena before firing. The satisfying noise of the LED vest deactivating was almost distracting enough for Tara to sneak up behind him.
Almost.
The second Tara's hands slithered around his waist he instinctively whipped around and shot her phaser. Thank god the guns count as target points.
Groaning, Tara shuffled onwards. Charlie moved backwards, facing the open hallway in front of him to avoid another person sneaking up beh-
"Hey Char." Nick smirked, grabbing his boyfriend and trapping him in a ready-to-be-tickled hug.
"Nick!" Charlie squeaked, squirming in his grasp. "Nononono please!"
"Haaaaaaaaaaa~" Nick drawled it out, letting the anticipation of the first syllable of the happy birthday song work it's magic.
"Nihihihick!"
"-aaaaappy birthday to you~" He sang, giving Charlie's neck a few kisses as his hands squished his boyfriend's hipbones. "Happy birthday to you!"
"NIHIHIHICK!"
"Uhh... umm..." Nick stuttered playfully. "Oh damnit Charlie I've forgotten the lyrics. Let's start again!"
"NOHOHOHO!" Charlie begged, the hands still torturing his hips were short-circuiting his brain.
"Happy birthday to you! Happy birthday to you! Happy birthday dear..." Nick paused once more. "What was your name again?"
"NIHIHIHIHICK!"
"No I'm pretty sure that's my name..." He continued to tease. "Yours was... Connor? Chris?"
"STAHAHAP!"
"Charlie! I remember now!" Nick beamed, hands continuing to practically massage his boyfriend's hips. "What I don't remember though, is where I was in the so-."
"NIHIHIHICK PLEHEHEHEASE!"
"Let's go again!"
Nick's relentless teasing, mixed in with the odd neck kiss or ear nibble just to keep Charlie guessing, was enough to absolutely destroy the man.
"Happy birthday dear Charlieeee~" Nick nuzzled into his boyfriend's neck as he said his name. "Happy birthdaaaaaaaay toooooooooo...........!"
"GAME OVER!" The intercom boomed.
"Awwwww, what a shame. Saved by the bell I guess." Nick winked, before giving Charlie a genuine kiss (on his lips this time, though Charlie wasn't any less giggly) and slipping their hands together to exit.
"YES!" Darcy exclaimed, pumping her fists in the air.
"I take it you won then?" Nick grinned as he and Charlie joined the rest of the group in front of the final scoreboard. "I almost had an instant win."
Charlie blushed further, face still stuck in that endearing post-tickle smile. A buzz from his pocket interrupted the group's teasy questions of the last minute of the game.
"Dad's here, you guys ready for cake?" Charlie asked.
Eager nods led the way back to the carpark, where Tara, Elle, and Darcy hopped into Tara's car to meet the rest of the group back at Charlie's house.
Issac hopped into the front seat next to Charlie's dad, while Nick, Charlie, and Tao squished into the backseat.
With Charlie trapped in the middle, Tao and Nick were at the perfect position to poke and tease Charlie's sides the entire car ride home - not to mention squeeze juuuust above his kneecaps every time they hit a speed bump so Charlie would jump a little more than usual.
The gang gathered on the couch. Nick, Charlie, and Tao all sat on the floor, with Tara, Darcy, Elle, and Issac on the couch behind them. Charlie's Mum brought out his cake - a very tasty looking vanilla cake with rainbow sprinkles. With the lights out, and the blue candles flickering in the dim living room, all that was left was to sing.
Charlie's mum began, and no sooner had voices filled the room did the hands start. 12 hands found their ways to Charlie's sides and neck, one or two ruffling his hair as they went.
Halfway through the song was when Charlie couldn't hold his giggles any more. His eyes squeezed shut and his arms curled around himself to try to protect himself.
The singing finished, but the tickles did not. Tara laughed something about all of them winning the game, as Nick whispered in his ear about blowing out the candles.
The hands lessened, but were still very very tickly. Charlie took a deep, shaky breath, before all the air came out in a stream of breathy laughter. The candles wiggled, some even seemed to go out, but all came back in full flame.
"Come on Charlie! It's not that hard." Tao teased.
"I cahahahan't!" Charlie giggled, before trying again.
Nothing changed. The breath turned to laughter and the candles remained aglow.
Charlie gave it one last shot, rapidly taking in a breath and immediately blowing it all out. The candles faded one by one leaving only smoke behind.
He laughed both in relief and at the residual ghost tickles left behind.
"You guys suhuhuck." He glared, much of the sting taken out by the bright smile still on his face.
"You love us." Elle smiled, giving his hair one final ruffle before the group stood up to leave. Nick moved to the kitchen to help Charlie's Mum clean up, while Charlie helped their friends grab their coats.
After saying a very cuddly goodbye, Charlie returned to the living room to find his Mum and Nick chuckling endearingly at his Mum's phone.
"What's that?" Charlie asked genuinely.
"Only the best photo ever taken." His mum grinned, turning the phone towards him.
The picture, taken only a few minutes earlier, showed him and his friends gathered around the freshly extinguished cake. Each person smiling at the birthday boy, who was a giggly post-tickle mess.
"It's adorable Char." Nick smiled, zooming in on Charlie's red beaming face.
"Noooo!" Charlie tried to cover the phone screen, battling Nick's and his monther's hands for a moment. "It's so embarassing!!"
"It's so cuuuute!" Nick teased, poking his boyfriend and putting the phone in front of him every time he turned.
"Nihihick stop!" Charlie laughed. "You guys are so mean!"
And yet, as much as he complained about it, he did ask his Mum to send it to him.
And that photo remains his phone's home-screen to this day.
