ok i’m in a total macdennis mood so i’m gonna post this tiny fic i wrote cause it’s making me emo:
It’s the early afternoon in late fall, Philly is brisk with the hint that winter is at the door. The gang are in their respective residences after a particularly successful scheme. Now that Dennis is back from North Dakota and Mac is out, the gang’s schemes seem to be pulling off without a hitch. They’ve gotten their flow back and it’s paying off.
Mac and Dennis are lounging on the couch looking at old photographs of the gang from back when they started running Paddy’s. Mac’s arm is around the back of the sofa and Dennis is staring at the pictures with a quiet contemplation.
He breaks the silence by holding up a photo of himself, right out of college, his arms around a smiling Charlie and a Mac who is looking at Dennis fondly. They were so young then.
“Ugh, what happened? I used to be so beautiful, I was in my prime, a Golden God. Maybe I’ve lost my spark...” he chews his lip thoughtfully and sighs. Mac’s heart twists as he gazes at Dennis, who probably doesn’t even realize he said that out loud.
“You’ve always been beautiful, Den.” Dennis doesn’t acknowledge Mac’s words with anything more than a muttered, “Y-yeah, yeah, I know.”
But Mac smiles warmly to himself because he can see Dennis’ face soften and the tips of his ears have turned pink. He grabs the throw blanket on his lap and tosses it over Dennis’ legs too, watching Dennis shiver at the brush of Mac’s hand on his thigh. Mac won’t say anything though, because he just wants to keep them here in this moment, just like this.
Mac looks at Dennis like Dennis is his forever.

“maybe dennis will get jealous!”: the future of macdennis
ok since s13, i’ve seen some of you lovely people on here talk about macdennis and rcg possibly going backwards with it and even making dennis straight, and i have some thots! this interview with rob and kaitlin, which we’ve all freaked out over already, heavily implies that rcg are planning on giving mac a love interest in s14. the article ends with kaitlin saying “maybe dennis will get jealous!”
with years of macdennis slow burn, gang tends bar, ptsdee, and then dennis leaving, there’s no denying that rcg were trying to build up to something between the two. we all kinda thought that mac and rex were gonna hook up and dennis would get jealous in s13, which would lead to mac and dennis, in some form or another, together. now that obviously didn’t happen, but let’s talk about what did happen. mac: gets a sex doll of dennis, doesn’t try to hook up with rex, keeps pining after dennis, and finds his pride. he generally is just trying to cope, make his own decisions (in the iasip wild way ofc), and be comfy with himself. dennis: is back, not talking about north dakota (but really wanting someone to ask about it), yelling again, pushing away mac’s advances, and it’s very apparent that his mental health is in decline. all of this made for a very tense dynamic between the two of them. even just now as i’m writing this, i realize that they seem like complete opposites. now yes, mac does tend to yell and get aggressive and dennis can be very sexual, but those don’t necessarily always translate to their intended actions towards one another. in s13, dennis is barely sexual at all towards mac, in fact tells him to stop kissing and touching him, and is very aggressive towards him, scratching and yelling at him. mac is barely aggressive at all towards dennis, in fact tries to caress his arm and compliment him several times, and is very sexual towards him, getting a fuckin sex doll that looks exactly like him. along with what i mentioned before, mac seems like he’s growing as a person and dennis seems very stuck in his ways, maybe even falling behind a little. mac and dennis are on complete opposite wavelengths in season thirteen, it’s unlike anything we’ve ever seen with other characters on this show.
but why would rcg do this? intensify things between them?
let’s pretend for a second that for some reason, dennis doesn’t get jealous if mac gets a boyfriend. in the beginning of s13, we see charlie and the waitress in a relationship after so long of charlie stalking her, and the waitress is now Always getting in the way. she calls him when they’re having a business meeting, she’s living with him now, and he constantly has to check up on her. frank isn’t even living with charlie anymore. but in the gang does a clip show, we learn through frank’s altered reality that he misses charlie. they also reveal that they’re living together again now that the waitress broke up with charlie, however frank Still fantasized charlie telling him that he misses him. frank needed that validation, that love, that security in their friendship. so how does this all relate to macdennis? well..this is basically a tiny condensed version of what would happen if mac got a boyfriend. the more i think about it, the more i see that the parallels are so clear. minus the obsessive stalking and possibly of someone getting pregnant ofc, mac having a boyfriend would very much get in the way of the gang’s dynamic. mac would spend a ton of time with him, spend less with the gang, and i wouldn’t even doubt mac asking him to move in. dennis would for sure have a problem with this. so even if dennis doesn’t get jealous in any sense of that word (which is unlikely but stick with me), he would still Crave mac’s attention that he’s gotten so easily for over 20 fucking years. he might try to get it from the rest of the gang, but it wouldn't be the same. especially now that he's back from nd, he's more fragile than ever, and he desperately wants things to be back to normal (clip show). mac's boyfriend would completely ruin that stability that dennis is craving. so, jealous or not, dennis would have some sort of a breakdown because of that.
let’s talk about rcg’s intent. in time’s up for the gang, dennis tells mac to stop kissing and touching him and “it’s never going to happen, at least not willingly, your time’s up.” we’ve talked about why dennis said this and his true feelings and all that so I'm not going to go into that, However, dennis seemingly shutting down the possibility of a relationship, but rcg Continuing and Continuing in the rest of the season (in the bathroom problem, gang escapes, and the clip show) to reference mac and dennis’ relationship in a romantic way (heart shaped lock, mac saying dennis looks good in leather, and mac and dennis holding hands) says a lot! it means..this isn’t over. even if dennis says it is. if we think about it in a meta way and say “yea rcg were probably telling us through dennis that macdennis is never going to happen and dennis will continue to say he hates mac” then why would rcg more than once make their tension and mac's pining very very clear? if they genuinely didn't care about macdennis anymore, they would've just had mac get the sex doll and then dennis tell him off in time's up. that would've been the perfect opportunity to end the possibility of them being together. the answer: they aren’t done with mac and dennis’ dynamic, or dennis' sexuality.
rcg are incredible writers and i highly doubt they’re just gonna keep going and even end the series with mac and dennis’ dynamic still like this. i think they’ve intensified their relationship in order for it to be more dramatic when they change it up completely with mac getting a love interest. at this point, it’s a really smart way to successfully make the dynamic different and to keep things interesting. but what if for some reason, they scrap the idea of mac getting a love interest? i still think rcg are gonna turn things around on us, in whatever way they come up with. sunny always subverts tv tropes and sticking to "gay guy pining over his straight best friend" just isn't funny and I have a feeling rcg Know that, and they're doing it for a reason. them continuing to explore macdennis, putting it in a romantic and even positive light, and also having dennis get Very friendly with a man and terrible at flirting with a woman in the same episode, really shows that this isn't all for nothing. even if mac and dennis never actually become boyfriends, just them being pals again, their dynamic shifting somehow would really make sense after all this strife. and maybe after all that conflict, mac and dennis, as friends or as lovers, will grow closer. i really do believe this is what rcg are trying to do.

Note
I recently read a fix where the gang played chardee macdennis and dennis tolled emotional battery and since I read it I keep imaging what would happen if Mac got it. Basically I imagine dennis would just go for the throat and talk about how mac is delusional and nobody really loves him (a lie in my mind he’s literally everyone else’s favorite member of the gang) how his parents never loved him and it basically just destroys mac and dennis is just confused cause it was just a game...
“You’re so pathetic, I almost feel sorry for you. We all hate you, you’re just too delusional to see it. Your own parents want nothing to do with you, they’ve never loved you. None of us have, but you keep trying anyway. It’s disgusting. Sad, really.”
Mac’s face is unreadable. There’s a steely glint in his eyes and splotches of color high on his cheeks. Jaw clenched, creating lines of tension on his face. To the untrained eye, he looks like he’s going strong. But he blinks, and Dennis can see the glossy shine of moisture collecting on his eyelashes.
It’s only a matter of time.
“None of us give a shit about you, Mac. We wouldn’t care if you were gone–your parents wouldn’t care, either. I bet some days your mom forgets she even has a son–”
He watches as Mac’s face crumples, dissolving immediately in to quiet, muffled sobs as he covers his face with his hands.
Dee crows beside him, slaps a crisp high-five against his left hand. He feels a swell of euphoria as the pleasant high of victory spreads through his body. Even after all these years, and countless wins, he and Dee still get the same satisfaction every time they win the game.
Charlie looks angry, but resigned. Sends them a dirty look before turning to pat Mac’s shoulder gently. Mac flinches away and stands, hand planted firmly over his mouth, and walks quickly to the front door, letting it slam behind him.
Dennis pushes down the tiny tendril if guilt that begins to claw at his insides, lets it burn away as he flicks the lighter and sets Mac and Charlie’s game pieces ablaze. Relishes in the release of tension and anger in crushing the weak, brittle plastic toys beneath his shoes. Yells and squawks with Dee as they stomp in unison, and thinks it’s times like these that he really likes having her as a sister.
Once they’re done and pack everything up—Charlie does most of the work, as another rule is that losers must clean up the carnage left behind by the game—Dennis grabs his wallet from behind the bar where he’d stashed it for safekeeping, and walks to the lot to head home for the day. They’d decided to close early—all the customers, even the regulars, had been driven away by the insane displays the Chardee MacDennis demanded of them. It doesn’t really matter to him. He got a decent day out of it, and an evening off work, which is more than he can say for about 95 percent of the time.
He stops when he sees Mac, curled up in the passenger seat, head pressed against the glass. He doesn’t make any attempt to acknowledge Dennis at all. Dennis reaches for his keys, only to realize that Mac has already started the car. He climbs inside, letting the warmth of the heater defrost him from the frigid December air.
“What are you doing out here, man?”
He tries to keep it casual. Conversational. He isn’t sure why Mac is acting so distant. Maybe he’s feeling sick.
“Nothing,” Mac murmurs.
Dennis feels a little stab of irritation in his stomach. Obviously something is wrong.
“Mac, you aren’t fooling anyone, and you’re starting to annoy me. What is it?”
He reaches out to brush Mac’s arm and Mac shoves him off.
“Don’t fucking touch me, Dennis.”
There’s heat in his words.
Heat in Dennis’ chest.
“What the hell, Mac? I’m trying to help.”
“Oh, thank you, Dennis. I appreciate it.”
His voice is dripping in venom, sarcastic and sharp, striking Dennis in the gut.
He’s wracking his brain for something, anything he could have done out of the ordinary, anything worse than his usual shitty love-hate relationship with Mac. They’d been on relatively good footing lately, their moods syncing up nicely so that they almost always ended up on the same page. Synchronicity had always been a cornerstone of their friendship, for better or for worse.
“Mac, I don’t…” he trails off, and he hates this. Hates that he’s letting Mac’s feelings affect him like this, rendering him powerless, speechless. Anger flares, white-hot in his head.
“Don’t play dumb, dude.” Mac fires back, his jaw set and his eyes glossy and full of badly concealed pain. “I know you’re not this stupid.”
“Mac…” something clicks in his brain. “Is this…is this about the game? You know it’s just––”
“Of course it is, dumbass! What the hell is wrong with you, Dennis?”
His face is pale, and his words sound choked and weak. There’s anger behind them, sure, but it barely registers in Dennis’ brain. Mac’s cheeks are flushed red again, and he can see the small beads of sweat collecting on his forehead, and shit, it is really hot in here. A stray tear drips down Mac’s cheek and Dennis doesn’t know what to feel, isn’t sure if he’s feeling anything at all. Shock, maybe. Surprise. Guilt? He’s not sure, it’s all happening so quickly and he thinks that his brain needs some time to catch up.
“Mac, it’s a game, you know that. You know that Dee and I will do anything to win. Hell, you did that shit to Dee and she tried to kill herself. It’s what we do, man. It’s…” he tries to make himself keep going, to find the excuses, the words that he needs to absolve himself of this feeling. “You know how it goes.”
The words sound hollow, even to him.
Mac looks impossibly devastated.
“But it’s us. I thought that we…I don’t know, I guess I’m an idiot for thinking––”
More tears roll down his face, and he doesn’t bother wiping them away, so they leave shiny tracks against Mac’s skin. Dennis feels sick, for some reason. He wants to brush the tears away, for some reason. He’s never felt this way after winning. Usually it leaves him on a winner’s high for a few days, at least. But now, he’s crashing, hard, and he doesn’t even know why. He feels like shit.
“What do you want, Mac? Do you want me to apologize? Tell me what to do.”
It comes out harsher than he wants it to. But he’s grasping at straws, anxious and guilty and he’s not supposed to feel this way right now. He pushes down anger at Mac for putting him in this position.
“I don’t know if you can do anything.”
He looks so pathetic and small and Dennis wants to scream, he wants to kiss the pain away, he wants to cry right along with Mac, he wants to drive the car into the river, he wants to run away, he wants to curl up in a ball in his bed and stay there forever. His hands feel cold and his face feels hot and he wishes he could be anywhere but here.
“Mac, I––I’m sorry. Okay? I didn’t…I didn’t know…I mean, I guess I did know how much it would hurt you, but I was just following the rules. I didn’t mean for you to take it to heart…I––shit. I’m terrible at this, okay? You’re not worthless, of course you’re not worthless, why would I live with you for so long if I hated you? Why would I let you take care of me? I think I’d…I don’t know where I’d be without you. So just…Please let me return the favor.”
Mac looks stunned.
“Do you mean that?” He sounds guarded, his mouth still set in a firm line.
“Yeah, man.”
“Can I pick the movie tonight?”
Dennis feels a tiny smile pull at the corner of his lips.
“Yeah, sure.”
Mac smiles back, small and hesitant and a little sad.

IT - Reddie (Richie Tozier & Eddie Kaspbrak)
Yours Truly by Buttercup12 (14/14 | 51414 | Mature)
Eddie Kaspbrak has it bad. He’s bullied for being a tiny, delicate, hypochondriac boy. He’s also bullied for being very, very, very gay. Long story short, his life isn’t the easiest.
However, that’s all a piece of cake when compared to his gigantic, pathetic crush on Derry High’s most popular and oh so very straight Trashmouth, Richie Tozier.
Richie has no idea he even exists.
Right?
Wrong.
ugly moon by weepies (27/27 | 79482 | Teen and Up)

The Roommate by DoAsYouWill (27/? | 277,882 | Mature)
Craig is off to college, where he is introduced to the weirdest person he's ever met. Unfortunately, or maybe fortunately, (Craig can't decide), that weirdest person is his roommate.
Just your typical cliche 'meet as roommates' story, but with a lot of nostalgic undertones.
Deadpool - Cablepool (Wade Wilson/Nathan Summers)
Incognito by CQHD (Comet_Kohoutek) (2/2 | 5,810 | Explicit)
Deadpool introduces Cable to porn.
The video, Deadpool realises belatedly, is way too quiet. There's no cheesy bass line that gets stuck in his head and makes him feel each pulse in his dick. There's just the soft rustling of clothes against skin as the man strips. It's got an aesthetic to it, but it doesn't stop Deadpool from hearing the catch in Cable's breath once the man steps out of his underwear and crawls on to the desk.
Toaster by edy (1/1 | 3,339 | Mature)
If someone were to strap you in and measure your heart rate, it wouldn't be a surprise to anyone to find it'd be beating in time with his own heart. The notion is meant to be romantic, as is customary in romances, and you think it might be romantic if an uneven heart rate wasn't a sign of a serious health condition.

02 macdennis
2: “I think I’m in love with you and that scares the hell out of me.”
Enjoy! I loved writing this.
“Do that for me. Okay, baby boy?”
Mac feels like he just got punched in the gut. The kind that you didn’t know was coming, that you have no way to prepare for. That knocked the wind out of you and made you dizzy. He was in full costume, in the living room of a stranger’s house, those kids right in front of them. But he feels like he has tunnel vision. He can’t look away from Dennis’ eyes. He wants Dennis’ hands on his face, on his body.
He feels bile rising in his throat. It’s not gay or anything if he’s playing a character. Still, the guilt is burning in his stomach and he doesn’t know how to make it stop. Maybe he doesn’t want it to stop.
If things were different, he wouldn’t be like this. If him and Dennis didn’t make such a great team, if being around him didn’t make Mac feel whole, if spending the rest of their lives together wasn’t the most wonderful thing he’d ever heard. If Dennis wasn’t right here in front of him, touching him, taunting him, pretending they were a couple, then maybe, maybe he’d be okay.
But he is, and his hands keep ghosting over Mac’s cheeks, his shoulders, his waist, and with each burst of bliss comes a dark cloud of shame and soon Mac is shaking with anxiety. He lets it bubble up to the surface, channeling it into yelling at the customers.
Dennis seems impressed.
Mac wants to throw up.
At the end of the day they’re back at their apartment, tired from the short-lived victory of getting to swim in that couple’s pool. Dennis is showering.
Mac is laying on the couch, curled on his side. He still feels the pull of panic in his brain, his fight-or-flight response ready to kick in at any moment. He tries to push the thought of Dennis’ hands on his face out of his head, but he can’t. Even playing a part, Dennis knows what makes him tick, how to calm him down. He gets him in a way that Mac isn’t sure anyone else does, not even Charlie.
What could be better than that? It’s more than anyone else has ever done for him. When he really considers the thought, it’s all that he could ever want. Someone that understands and accepts him. Someone to be there through the ups and downs and crazy schemes. Someone to get him out of jams. Dennis has caused him pain, but he’s also made Mac the happiest he’s ever been. Isn’t that…isn’t that all love is?
He feels the nausea return in full force.
His head is buzzing.
Obviously, he means love, like friendship. They’re best friends, of course they care about each other. A tiny voice in Mac’s head tells him that best friends don’t want to touch each other.
Best friends don’t want to kiss each other.
He hears the shower shut off and suddenly Mac’s heart feels like it’s going to explode. If he wasn’t so insanely fit, he would probably think he was having a heart attack. Is this a panic attack? He doesn’t feel right. He can’t remember if he’s ever had one. That’s weird. He can’t really think atall. It’s like his whole body is short circuiting. He feels dizzy and confused and he can’t breathe.
He pushes himself off the couch and stumbles to his bathroom. He splashes water on his face, curls up on the cold tiled floor next to the toilet. He feels like he’s spinning and the world is closing in on him and if he could just have a minute, just one minute, to breathe, to think, then he’d be okay. He could go back to reality where everything made sense.
A few tears make their way down his face, mostly an after-effect of being unable to catch his breath. He feels overwhelmed and weak. His dad would be so disappointed. The thought sends more tears cascading down his cheeks. He drags a hand across his face, tries to will them away.
As he tries to breathe deeply, blood rushes to his head and neck, and everything is white and hot.
He doesn’t even hear Dennis knock. Doesn’t hear him calling his name. After a couple minutes, the door opens and Dennis sounds like he’s somewhere far away.
“Goddamnit, Mac, didn’t you hear me calling you? Dude, come on, I thought we were gonna watch a movie. Jesus Christ, you look like a mess. Mac?”
He can’t make his mouth form words.
Dennis crouches down to his level, still-wet hair dripping onto thebathroom floor.
"Hey…buddy?” Dennis seems uncomfortable, confused, but genuinely worried.
"Can I… is it alright if I touch you?”
Mac thinks he must look like a deer in the headlights. His brain is screaming.
Please, please, please.
He nods and Dennis mirrors his movement.
“Okay. Uh…okay. It’s alright, just um, try sit up for me, if you can? Keep breathing,“ he adds, as an afterthought.
Mac, still feeling extremely lightheaded, lets Dennis help him sit up. He’s leaning against the toilet now, spots dancing in his vision.
“Just…um. Why don’t you pull your knees up, and let your head rest between them? It helps.” He seems to be gaining some confidence, reaching over to help Mac move again. Mac lets him, too out of it to tell him to stop.
"I’m gonna massage your shoulders a little, okay? I looked it up a while ago and it’s good for helping with anxiety.”
Mac doesn’t bother to ask why Dennis knows this, but he can feel his body vibrating with tension. He responds with a choked moan that’s just soft enough to mean “yes,” and hopes Dennis understands.
Of course, he does.
He rests his hands so gently on Mac’s shoulders that he almost breaks down all over again.
The movement is repetitive and relaxing and he feels the spasms calming just a little. Dennis works his way up Mac’s neck, stops at the nape, rubbing small circles there. Mac sniffles a little, his eyes burning. He doesn’t want to cry in front of Dennis even more than he already has, but it just feels so good.
His breath hitches when Dennis hits a particularly tight spot, kneading the tension out with expert precision and ease. A sob wracks Mac’s body. He doesn’t know what to feel. He’s still so confused, he feels hysterical.
Dennis’ hands pause, lift off of him.
"Did I hurt you?“ Dennis asks quietly.
More than you could ever know.
Mac shakes his head.
