anyway i'm seeing a bunch of art and stuff for episode 162 of The Magnus Archives (probably because mag-a-day just hit it in their rotation, that's such a cool blog i love them) and it's really cool but nobody's including my favorite line from it:

(spoilers under cut? I guess? it's been out for years but if you haven't listened to 162 and want to experience it totally fresh there's a few lines from near the end)

Stay within my false defenses, cling so close to what you desperately wish to save, and live in shaking fear of the things beyond that may take it from you. Throw another log on the fire and curl up close. There are always more logs for the fire here. This is your home, and here you can be safe, as you putrefy, body and soul.

anyway Corruption episodes almost always wig me the fuck out and this one is no exception. Something about the way the Corruption is written just gets under my skin and gives me awful creepycrawlyheebiejeebies in a way none of the other episodes really do.

The nearest thing in terms of badfeelingness is probably the Vast? but honestly even that is a distant, distant second.

I’m actually sick over this because yeah he was full of the kind of reckless abandon that made him great and yeah in another world it’s what could have killed him but not in this world.

No, in this world, the tragedy of Gerry Keay is that he was great, he saved lives and gave his life but what snuffed out his flame in the end was something completely tragically mundane and unavoidable — brain cancer.

I love the comedy in the fact that everyone but Jon knew that Martin faked his CV. Literally everyone, Tim, Sasha, Elias, and of course Martin all knew but not Jon. His direct superior who he interacts with on a daily basis and who at the time hated his fucking guts. That’s hilarious.
