Okay so, Touhou Fuumaroku: Story of Eastern Wonderland was the first shoot-em-up/bullet hell game in The Touhou Project. Six games later, came Touhou Eiyashou: Imperishable Night, and with it, the final boss Kaguya Houraisan, explicitly stated to be the character "Kaguya-hime" from the fairy tale, "The Tale of The Bamboo Cutter", otherwise known as "The Tale of Princess Kaguya". Six games after that, Touhou Kishinjou: Double Dealing Character added in Shinmyoumaru Sukuna to the cast, who is stated to be descended from the one inch boy, Issun-Boshi, from the fairy tale of the same name. We're all aware of this, right?

Now then, a theory. To my knowledge, the big three fairy tales of Japan are "The Tale of The Bamboo Cutter/The Tale of Princess Kaguya", "Issun-Boshi", and "Momotaro". Since that last one hasn't had any representation in Touhou yet, my theory is, that the final boss of Touhou 20, what it will be, will have a final boss tied to the story of the peach boy. What connection, I dunno. Maybe it'll be the oni, giving a tie to the story and naming the final member of The Big Four of The Mountain.

Touhou Kishinjou [Shining Needle Castle] ~ Double Dealing Character (東方輝針城　～ Double Dealing Character) is the fourteenth official game of the Touhou Project. It was announced by ZUN on his personal blog on May 11, 2013.[1]

Story

When an amanojaku named Seija Kijin desired to overturn Gensokyo’s order, she didn’t have the power to do that on her own. So, she set her sights on the Miracle Mallet. Since only inchlings could use the mallet, she decided to use an inchling princess, Shinmyoumaru Sukuna, who was unaware of the existence of the Miracle Mallet. Seija convinces Shinmyoumaru to join her cause by suggesting they start a butch-for-butch relationship. Shinmyoumaru accepts, and the two of them harness the power of the Mallet to create chaos throughout Gensokyo, starting with the founding of the Grassroots Youkai Network (草の根妖怪ネットワーク, lit. "Youkai Polycule")

in general, my favorite touhou is Kaikidsn (Mystic Square). but from the windows era, probably Kishinjou (DDC) or Kikeijuu (WBaWC).

The Switch version of Touhou Project strategy RPG Hifuu Bouenkyou will launch via the Nintendo eShop on March 19 in Japan for 2,800 yen, developer Chiyuudou announced. Pre-orders are available now at a 10 percent-off discount price of 2,520 yen. It will only support Japanese.

Hifuu Bouenkyou first launched for PC in August 2014.
