decided last-minute to include another sentient species in Issadai, so introducing the Tousa--aka “elves, but make it weird”. they are hunter-gatherers who live in the jungles and mangrove swamps south of the Mysskaen Sea. their only major city, Hle’alu, is located on the delta of the Eto’a River where it flows into a lake, and it’s a center of trade for both Tousa and the human occupants of the region. Tousa are known among humans for being skilled fishermen, weavers, and mages. because of differences in vocal tract anatomy, they cannot pronounce some sounds (mostly certain vowel sounds) found in human languages, so a pidgin language has developed between Tousa and the human cultures they trade with that omits these sounds. 
they can interbreed with humans, but they’re much more fragile, physiologically speaking, so hybrid offspring are pretty rare. generally hybrids have a much better chance of surviving to birth if they’re being carried by the human parent.

IzuOcha Week 2020 day 1
Our flight over from Japan to Hawaii wasn't as long as I was expecting, only 8 hours in total. After we got off the plane, Ochako’s parents were ecstatic to finally be here. It's hard getting any time off when you are The Symbol of Heroism itself. Ochako and I have been dating since our third year at UA high and got together when the Meta Liberation Army attacked UA and I saved her life knowing that if she died I couldn't go on. That was five years ago and I haven't told her the true meaning to our little vacation. As far as she's aware we are bringing her parents here to spend 3 months in a five star resort on the main island. Not to flex on anyone or seem ungrateful but when you're a top ten hero let alone the number one pro hero, money isn't an object anymore. I don't do my job for it's ridiculous 12 digit salary, I do it because it is the right thing to do. The real reason I brought Ochako’s family here, including her of course, is to propose to Ochako. 
    Once collecting our bags from the baggage claim we make our way to the rental car center and then freak out slightly because they don't drive on the same side of the road as we do in Japan. Once collecting our car from the rental office we leave the airport destined for the main resort on the Island. King Kamehameha’s Palace resort, sounds like something out of dragon ball but apparently he was an actual person. Unlike the resort because the Author couldn't be bothered to look up a resort in Hawaii and is now having me break the fourth wall to let you all know that it's fake as far as he is aware, and seriously stop with the comments about fixing the wall I'm just going to break it again because the Author wants me to. Anyways, the resort is absolutely massive and when we arrive both Ochako's Mother, Tousa, and my brunette lover herself, pass out from seeing the lavish building that looks like it's made of gold. We get separate rooms and make our way to the east penthouse suite and Ochako’s parents are in the west one. 
“I can't believe it Izuku! This is amazing! Everything is so nice! The soap looks like it costs 10,000,000 yen to hold! And the bed feels so soft! We need a bed like this in the house!” Ochako exclaims as she sets down her toiletry bag and flops on the massive bed. I smile at her reaction before unpacking my bag and putting it in the drawers by my side of the bed. 
“You say that but most nights you end up sleeping curled around me like our little Mochi and Udon. Speaking of, do you think they will be fine staying with Eri and my mom? She already has 5 cats so the two rowdy kittens might be a little bit of trouble.” I respond thinking of our twin tuxedo kittens whose coats are the inverse of the other. One being black on most of her belly aside from her stomach and her brother being the opposite.    
“Eri will probably be snuggling with them all day. For cats those two are surprisingly lazy. Izuku… I never got to thank you for everything. Saving my life, going out of your way to raise my self esteem, training with me when you unlocked float, everything you've done with me or for me.” She says hugging me and laying her head on my chest. I rub my arm along her shoulder and kiss the top of her head.       
“You don't need to thank me Ochako, everything I did, I did for you because it is the right thing to do. Out of everyone that I have saved during my hero career, you were the first one in real danger when no one else was going to help. Kacchan doesn't count since All Might was the one who dealt with the villain after I ran in there attempting to free him. Always remember you were the first I saved, and the first and last I will love. There will be no one else except for you my sweet mochi.” I respond pinching her chubby cheeks slightly which causes her to pout adorably in response.  
“What time is it Izuku?” She asks as I pull my other arm around her and look at the time. 
“Well we need to get ready because we are going to a Luau soon. Which one did you want to do?” I ask as she breaks our little embrace and walks over to the desk where she put the brochure. 
“Hmm… I don't want to go to the whole scripted one that the hotel is holding all that much. Sure it is fun but we don't get to meet anyone local who enjoys themself instead of working. Let's go to Germain’s luau instead of the King Kamehameha one that one kinda sounds lame.” She says causing me to laugh to myself a little bit. 
“I'll text Maruki and let him know which one we are doing. Now How about we go see what that 360 degree shower is all about shall we?” I say causing her to blush as I pick her up bridal style and we head into our bathroom to get ready.
After getting ready and making our way down stairs we meet Ochako’s parents on the way to the bottom floor. Once down there we head to the parking lot and await the arrival of the bus taking us to the luau. As we were waiting, I told Maruki of what I had planned for this evening to which he gives me a look I have never seen before in anyone, even my father All Might had never literally glowed with excitement at what I had said. Once the initial shock wore off he slapped me on the back and said that he better have grandkids very soon. Not long after the bus arrived and we along with several other people including a rather fluffy hisapnic man wearing a hawaiian shirt got on the bus. We sat towards the middle and talked amongst the other passengers including that fellow who is very very funny. Soon the man hosting the party gets on the intercom and addresses us.    
“Hel- turn that down bro. Ehem Hello everybody. Welcome to Germain’s luau my name is Rino and you can call me cousin Rino just don't ask for any money y’know what i'm sayin’.” He says in english and I translate to Ochako and her parents, I learned it from Dad-Might and David Shield. “Now do you all have any questions?” 
Several other passengers started asking questions about the weather and if and or when we would get anything to eat. He responded in a way I wasn't quite expecting which caused me to laugh a little bit. Soon he takes a seat next to the driver and we exit from the resort and head towards the Luau. As we were driving through the tropical island we admired the view from the windows as Ochako and her mother gabbed on about our homelife and why we haven't bought a massive estate like most heroes own. She goes on to tell her mother that most of my money I give to charity and keep more than enough in savings incase we get sick of our apartment or if we are going to have a baby and need another room. Eri would be ecstatic if we were having a son or daughter. Though she's only 11 right now I can definitely tell that she not only will be an amazing hero but end up getting married to Kota by the way the act around each other. We arrived at a private beach with a gazebo of palm tree leaves strung with lights with tables and an open bar nearby. It took us quote ‘Hawaiian time’ to arrive at this private beach and all being said it was very nice for a small venue. 
We got off the bus and made our way around the tables and chairs before getting served our dinner by a massive barbeque pit behind the bar. Along the beach there is flaming limbo, a flaming coal walk and fire spinners. For some reason they really really like fire. Ochako’s mother and father order a tropical hard drink in a coconut and I notice that Ochako turned down the chance to drink the alcoholic beverage they were serving. She's always been a lightweight when it comes to drinking and doesn't do it too often so it didn't surprise me all that much. As we make small talk the event starts and one by one people start doing the various activities they have planned here. Some people trying the limbo, others watching the fire twirlers and fire breathers while others took turns walking across the coals. Ochako’s parents did every single activity there was at this event. When Ochako leaves to use the bathroom I walk over to the DJ and hand him 20$ saying that I need to make an announcement and to let me use the mic. He agrees and says that he doesn't need the twenty so I put it back in my pocket and simply thank him as well as hand him an autograph for his son. After Ochako comes back from the bathroom Germain in the booth gather’s everyone’s attention. 
“I hope you guys have been having a good time but this Malou here has an announcement to make. Take it away Deku.” He says handing me the mic and causing several people to gasp and take out their phones to record and take pictures of me. 
“Thanks Germain, Now the first person I saved before becoming a hero is here tonight enjoying this Luau. Will the number 5 hero Uravity come up here please? I have a very important question to ask you.” I say and I can visibly see Ochako’s eyes widen to the size of grapefruits after registering what I had said. “Everyone here knows we have always been a couple from Day 1 of our hero career. They know that we've dated for a long time and I think it's finally time to tie the knot.” I say before getting down on one knee and pulling out a gold ring with a paragon pink diamond as the centerpiece. “My hero, My best friend and My love Ochako Uravity Uraraka, Will you make me the happiest hero alive and marry me?” I ask trying to keep my composure and not stutter. 
“Y-YES IZUKU!!!! I WILL MARRY YOU!!!” She shouts before tackling me into the sand and peppering my face in kisses repeatedly. Everyone in the audience claps seeing this and cheers as we kiss each other for the first time as an engaged couple. I slip the ring on her finger before She herself goes over and grabs the mic from the sand.
“Izuku there's also an important thing I need to tell you. My number one hero and soon to be husband… I'm pregnant.” She says then I immediately pass out.

sentient peoples of issadai (pt 2): tousa
The tousa are a species of primate that received aetherial souls around the same time humans did. They aren’t as widespread as humans, who have proven hardier and better able to adapt to new environments, and live primarily in the jungles and coastal mangrove swamps south of the Mysskaean Sea (map). They have good relations with the human peoples closest to them, the Shuwafi, whom they trade with extensively.
Tousa are taller than humans, with the average individual standing about six and a half feet tall, and slighter, with long, thin limbs. Their species started out as gracile tree-dwellers, so at one time they had disproportionately long arms and hand-like feet. Their faces were also longer than humans’, with a snout-like nose, large canine teeth, and long opposable ears. Modern tousa have become bipedal land-dwellers like humans, and thus their body plan has become more human-like. Their faces, too, have become flatter and smaller-jawed, closely resembling the human face, though they have retained large, round eyes and a long nose. Most have pale or pinkish skin which flushes easily, gold or light brown eyes with little sclera showing around the iris, and coarse straight hair that ranges from gold to burnt orange in color. Their faces are heart-shaped, with broad cheekbones, a shallow brow ridge, and a low hairline that often has a pronounced widow’s peak. Their opposable ears are used extensively in body language, and their eyes retain the tapetum lucidum. Tousa generally have heavier body hair than humans, bordering on fur—except on the chest, belly, and face, which are usually hairless. They exhibit minimal sexual dimorphism. Tousa are semi-nocturnal; they are most active around dawn and dusk, and sleep through the hottest point of the day. Like humans, they live about a hundred years, and individuals with strong magic have the potential to live much longer.
The tousa vocal tract differs from a human’s; they have higher voices, usually in the alto or soprano range, and they cannot pronounce some vowels that are essential to the human languages. Because of this, a pidgin speech has evolved between the tousa and the human peoples they deal with, which omits vowel sounds that they cannot pronounce.
Tousa can interbreed with humans, but they’re much more fragile, physiologically speaking, so hybrid offspring are rare. Generally hybrids have a much better chance of surviving to birth if they’re being carried by the human parent. Most tend to take after the human parent in appearance, but it is common for them to exhibit tousa coloring.
Culture
Most tousa follow a semi-nomadic hunter-gatherer lifestyle, though within the last thousand years or so they have adopted agriculture from the human peoples they are in contact with, and since then have begun to build permanent settlements. They also rely heavily on fishing for food, and in human or mixed-species areas they can often be found working as fishermen.
The only major tousa city is known as Hle’alu. It is located at the broad, shallow mouth of the Eto’a River where it runs into Alo’ikalo’ani Lake, and consists of wooden structures that sit on stilt-supported platforms above the water, or on the hundreds of small islands that dot the river delta. There are no streets, and city-dwellers get around either by boat, navigating the channels between islands, or on narrow wooden bridges. Founded over five hundred years ago, it was built on the site of one of the first great tousa civilizations, the Eto’a River Valley Civilization, which grew up during their agricultural revolution. While the swamps that surround the city offer little in the way of farmland, the islands of the Eto’a River have been built up and expanded with earth over the centuries, creating tiered fields of rich, wet soil that is exceptionally well-suited for growing rice and beans, two main staples of the tousa diet.
Plentiful fishing and the rich farmland they have engineered has allowed the Eto’ans to devote time that had once gone to hunting and gathering towards the pursuit of art, music, and mathematics. They have also developed a writing system, Udu, which is written in ink on banana leaves, and used mainly for recordkeeping—at the time it was invented, Hle’alu had become a bustling center of trade, which it remains to this day. Farmers, craftsmen, and fishermen from villages both human and tousa travel to the city to participate in its floating markets. Hle’alu is ruled by a priest-king, who not only oversees the city government, but also performs the sacred rituals that must be observed on each holy day. The great temple and the priest-king’s palace are located on Gis, the large island at the center of the city.
Tousa are known as fine weavers, and their cotton is famous among the southern peoples for its delicacy and strength. Much of their clothing and other fabric goods are colored with an unusual reddish-purple dye called axim, which is obtained by collecting and boiling the mucus of a snail found in jungle waterways.
The primary Tousa religion, Qe’elateqa, revolves around a demigod hero named Ateqa. Son of the river goddess Yu’a, he is considered to be the father of the tousa, and the first sentient being in Issadai. They call themselves “tousa”, which means “children of the river” in their language, for this reason. According to tousa mythology, during the early ages of the world Yu’a, becoming lonely, created for herself a son out of the clay that lined her riverbank, breathing life into him. She named him Ateqa, which means “earth that walks”—because he had the soul of a god but a mortal body, he would someday return to the earth Yu’a had shaped him from. When Ateqa grew to adulthood, he left Yu’a to wander the world, awakening the sentient species as he went, and doing battle with the evil gods and spirits that threatened their safety. He was eventually killed while fighting Bedu, the leopard god of the hunt and of darkness, but the children he had with a tousa woman lived on to become a great line of wise and powerful mages. The priest-kings of Hle’alu have long claimed descendance from Ateqa.

Σε podcast με τον Φώτη Σεργουλόπουλο για τη Lifo, ο Διευθυντής του Οικονομικού Γραφείου του Πρωθυπουργού, Αλέξης Πατέλης, μίλησε για το πώς ο ίδιος δημοσιοποίησε ότι είναι γκέι και πόσο σημαντικό είναι αυτό για κάθε ομοφυλόφιλο. Ο κ. Πατέλης αναφέρθηκε στην οικονομική πτυχή της διαφορετικότητας και τόνισε ότι σήμερα υπάρχουν τρεις ανοιχτά γκέι άντρες στα ανώτατα κλιμάκια του κυβερνητικού μηχανισμού, ενώ στην προηγούμενη κυβέρνηση δεν υπήρχε ούτε ένας. Επίσης αποκάλυψε και κάποια ψήγματα από την προσωπική του ζωή, όπως πχ ότι ο σύζυγός του το καλοκαίρι του 2015 διαδήλωσε υπέρ της παραμονής της Ελλάδας στο Ευρώ, πριν από το δημοψήφισμα. Δηλαδή το πρώτο στάδιο πρέπει να είναι η αποδοχή από τον ίδιο σου τον εαυτό, που είναι και το πιο δύσκολο. – Για εμένα αυτό ήταν κάτι που έπρεπε να κάνω και που θα έκανα έτσι κι αλλιώς. Το ίδιο εξάλλου είχα κάνει και όταν δούλευα σε τράπεζες στο εξωτερικό. Ήμουν ανοιχτά ομοφυλόφιλος και εκεί και δεν υπήρξε ποτέ κανένα θέμα. – Ο πρωθυπουργός είναι ένας άνθρωπος που πιστεύει ότι πρέπει να έχει γύρω του ειδικούς και ανθρώπους από διαφορετικά περιβάλλοντα, είναι πάρα πολύ πολυσυλλεκτικός και πάρα πολύ ανοιχτός, πραγματικά φιλελεύθερος άνθρωπος και πιστεύει πραγματικά ότι πρέπει να παράγουμε τη δουλειά. Και εμένα, πιστεύω, ότι με αξιολόγησε με βάση την εργασία μου. Δεν τον ενδιέφερε το εάν είμαι ομοφυλόφιλος ή όχι, δεν είχαμε κάνει αυτή τη συζήτηση. – Η αποδοχή της διαφορετικότητας είναι μέσα στις αρχές του καπιταλισμού. Οι διακρίσεις είναι αντίθετες με τη βάση του καπιταλισμού, που είναι οι ίσες ευκαιρίες, σε θεωρητικό επίπεδο. – Πολλοί αναρωτιούνται γιατί ένας σύμβουλος του πρωθυπουργού ασχολείται με τέτοια ζητήματα που είναι, ας πούμε, κοινωνικά ή θέματα άλλων ειδικοτήτων. Φυσικά και υπάρχει η κοινωνική διάσταση στα δικαιώματα, πιστεύω όμως ακράδαντα ότι υπάρχει και η οικονομική. Μια χώρα μπορεί να έχει τεράστιο οικονομικό όφελος και ως Αλέξης Πατέλης έχω καταλήξει ότι είναι από τα θεμελιώδη προβλήματα της Ελλάδας η έλλειψη διαφορετικότητας. – Όταν αποκλείουμε ομάδες του πληθυσμού με βάση χαρακτηριστικά που δεν είναι αντικειμενικά, όπως είναι ο σεξουαλικός τους προσδιορισμός, αλλά και άλλα χαρακτηριστικά, όπως πχ το φύλο, η ηλικία, το ύψος κ.λπ. αυτόματα οδηγούμαστε σε ένα χειρότερο αποτέλεσμα. – Αν βάλεις σε ένα δωμάτιο 10 ανθρώπους διαφορετικούς, με διαφορετικές καταβολές, διαφορετικά χαρακτηριστικά, η σύνθεση αυτών των ανθρώπων θα είναι διαφορετική και η απόφαση που θα παρθεί θα είναι πιθανώς καλύτερη. Αυτός είναι ένας δεύτερος, πιο σύνθετος λόγος υπέρ της διαφορετικότητας στις επιχειρήσεις και στην αγορά εργασίας. Αλλά και σε όλες τις αποφάσεις που παίρνουμε. – Η ζωή ενός ομοφυλόφιλου ουσιαστικά χωρίζεται στο πριν και το μετά. Μετά το coming out η ζωή σου είναι τελείως διαφορετική. Ειδικά στην αρχή νιώθεις μια τρομακτική απελευθέρωση, ότι ο κόσμος είναι δικός σου, μπορείς να πετύχεις τα πάντα και είναι μια πάρα πολύ σημαντική στιγμή. – Είμαστε αναγκασμένοι να αποδεχτούμε τον εαυτό μας. Δεν έχουμε άλλο δρόμο. Αλλιώς αισθάνεται κανείς και με τον εαυτό του άσχημα, έχει κάποιες τύψεις οι οποίες τελικά τον επιβαρύνουν σε όλη του τη ζωή. Αυτό θα έλεγα και σε αυτούς που προτρέπουν καμιά φορά τα παιδιά τους να μη δηλώνουν ότι είναι ομοφυλόφιλοι γιατί αυτό θα τους οδηγήσει σε μια πιο δυστυχισμένη ζωή. – Ο σύζυγός μου προτιμά να μη συζητήσουμε πάρα πολύ για εκείνον. Είναι από το εξωτερικό, από μία χώρα στην οποίαν καταδιώκονται τα δικαιώματα των ΛΟΑΤΚΙ, ακόμη περισσότερο από την Ελλάδα. Οπότε κι εκείνος έχει διαφορετικές εμπειρίες. Συναντηθήκαμε στο Λονδίνο και ήρθε στην Ελλάδα. – Το 2015 ο σύζυγός μου κατέβηκε στην Πλατεία Συντάγματος, τότε με τις διαδηλώσεις, με τη σημαία της χώρας του και διαδήλωσε υπέρ της παραμονής της Ελλάδας στο Ευρώ. Γιατί ήξερε από τη δική του εμπειρία αυτό θα ήταν εν τέλει η μόνη δικλείδα ασφαλείας που έχουμε μεσο-μακροπρόθεσμα για να στηριχθούν κάποια δικαιώματα και κάποια ευρωπαϊκά ιδεώδη. Ήξερε ότι προερχόταν από μια χώρα όπου τα πράγματα ήταν πολύ χειρότερα και δεν ήθελε σε καμία περίπτωση την καινούργια του πατρίδα να διολισθαίνει προς αυτή την πορεία. – Θα προέτρεπα και τους ακροατές να συμμετάσχουν στο gay pride είτε είναι στρέιτ είτε είναι γκέι. Είναι μία πάρα πολύ ευχάριστη στιγμή. – Έχοντας πάει σε πολλά gay pride, στην Ελλάδα και το εξωτερικό, θα έλεγα ότι περιέργως το Athens Pride είναι από τα καλύτερα παγκοσμίως. Σε άλλες πόλεις έχουν γίνει κάπως πιο εμπορικά και λίγο περισσότερο σαν ένα τεράστιο πάρτυ. Στην Ελλάδα το gay pride παραμένει μια πάρα πολύ πηγαία έκφραση. Έχει διάφορα χαρακτηριστικά τα οποία το κάνουν πάρα πολύ ενδιαφέρον. Είναι από τις λίγες πορείες στο κέντρο της Αθήνας που δεν είναι διαδηλώσεις και στις οποίες δεν ακούει κανείς ρυθμικά συνθήματα με ντουντούκες αλλά ακούει μουσική, βλέπει μπαλόνια, χαρούμενα κ.λπ. – Aφού αποδεχτείς τον εαυτό σου και το δημοσιοποιήσεις, το εξηγήσεις στους άλλους, είτε είσαι γκέι είτε είσαι στρέιτ, θα ζήσεις μια πολύ πιο χαρούμενη ζωή. Θα έλεγα και για τους γονείς, να αποδεχτούν τα παιδιά τους, αν θέλουν την ευτυχία των παιδιών τους. Όσο πιο γρήγορα τα αποδεχτούν και τα αγκαλιάσουν όπως είναι, τόσο πιο ευτυχισμένα θα είναι τα παιδιά, αλλά τόσο πιο ευτυχισμένοι θα είναι και οι ίδιοι οι γονείς -που είναι και το ζητούμενο.

Solution Communism is a one-day symposium to be held at State of Concept Athens. This is the first gathering, meant to be followed by further exchanges towards a book, Solution 275 - ...: Communism (Sternberg Press), scheduled for late 2017.
The symposium and book are part of the constellation of activities titled The Kids Want Communism (TKWC), marking 99 years to the 1917 Bolshevik revolution.
We invite contributors to the symposium to provide new propositions for a concept that was supposed to be a solution, but in reality proved to be a problem: communism.
As the highest expression of social and political change ("the theory of the Communists may be summed up in the single sentence: Abolition of private property," wrote Marx and Engels in the Manifesto), communism also represents the circumstances in which the exploration of just and equal societies fail (for example real-existing socialism in certain periods). Still, in our current reality of anti-communisms fighting each other all over the world (fundamentalists, neo-cons, neo-liberals, nationalists) the question of communism as a solution and how to solve communism becomes ever more pressing. More than any other word, “communism” expresses the opposite of a reality that champions and celebrates exploitation and inequality. But wherever capitalism goes, it brings communism with it, as a possibility for its radical negation. Yet communism is not contented with merely describing the power relations and resulting class division of “us versus them”, but offers an additional axis – one where we become the future. This axis has one guiding principle, that being-together precedes being, any being; biological, political, psychological, familial, social and so on. Under the doctrine of the End of History, we have experienced the future as simply "more of now". As history is reawakening, sometimes in the most horrific ways, in the Middle East and Eastern Europe, in the US and Britain, in Russia and Turkey, in Greece and Germany - the future will again suggest radically different realities, and with them communism will re-emerge.
The Kids Want Communism is an ongoing clandestine and public series of events (February 2016 - August 2017) marking ninety-nine years to the Bolshevik Revolution. A joint project of numerous individuals and organizations hosting exhibitions, screenings, discussions, seminars and publications throughout 2016, The Kids Want Communism takes place in a variety of locations. Among them tranzit, Prague, The Visual Culture Research Center, Kyiv, Free/Slow University Warsaw, State of Concept, Athens, Skuc gallery, Ljubljana, and MoBY-Museums of Bat Yam.
The The Kids Want Communism, Installment Three will open this spring 2017 due to a delay caused by weather conditions. More details on MoBY’s reopening to be announced soon!

Παρ' όλα αυτά στην σημερινή πραγματικότητα όπου αντι-κομμουνισμοί  μάχονται ο ένας τον άλλον σε όλο τον κόσμο (φονταμενταλιστές, νεο-φιλελεύθεροι, εθνικιστές) το ερώτημα του κομμουνισμού ως λύση αλλά και το πως θα μπορούσε κανείς να λύσει τον ίδιο τον κομμουνισμό, παραμένει επίκαιρο. Περισσότερο από κάθε άλλη έννοια, ο κομμουνισμός εκφράζει το αντίθετο μιας πραγματικότητας που προωθεί την εκμετάλλευση και την ανισότητα. Όπου όμως βρίσκεται ο καπιταλισμός, "φέρνει" μαζί του και τον κομμουνισμό ως πιθανότητα για την ριζική του άρνηση. Παρ' όλα αυτά ο κομμουνισμός δεν ικανοποιείται με την απλή περιγραφή των σχέσεων εξουσίας ή των ταξικών διαχωρισμών του "εμείς" εναντίον "αυτών", αλλά προσφέρει έναν ακόμα άξονα - αυτόν όπου εμείς είμαστε το μέλλον. Αυτός ο άξονας τρέχει παράλληλα με εμάς και η βασική του αρχή είναι πως το ζω-μαζί, προηγείται του ζω, και του κάθε ζώντα: βιολογικά, πολιτικά, ψυχολογικά, κοινωνικά κτλ. Κάτω από την ομπρέλα του δόγρματος του "Τέλους της Ιστορίας" έχουμε βιώσει το μέλλον ως "Περισσότερο Τώρα". Καθώς η ιστορία ξυπνάει, κάποιες φορές με τον πιο τρομακτικό τρόπο στη Μέση Ανατολή και την Ανατολική Ευρώπη, τις ΗΠΑ και την Βρετανία, την Ρωσία και την Τουρκία, την Ελλάδα και την Γερμανία - το Μέλλον θα προτείνει ξανά ανατρεπτικές και διαφορετικές πραγματικότητες και με αυτές ο κομμουνισμός θα επανέλθει στο προσκήνιο. Participants’ Biographies:
James Bridle is a British writer, artist, publisher and technologist currently based in Athens, Greece. His work covers the intersection of literature, culture and the network. Angela Dimitrakaki is a writer. Working across Marxism and feminism, her theory work, including books and articles, focuses on the impact of globalisation on Europe's art scenes and societies. Her novels, in her native Greek, have been shortlisted for a number of literary awards. She works at the University of Edinburgh. 
iLiana Fokianaki is a writer and curator based in Athens and Rotterdam. She is the founder and director of State of Concept Athens the first non profit gallery of Greece. She has lectured internationally and locally and her texts have appeared in Frieze, Art Papers, Monopol, Leap a.o. 
Irena Haiduk artist, founder of Yugoexport, an oral corporation whose primary goal is to demonstrate how to surround ourselves with things in the right way. Ingo Niermann is a writer of fiction and speculative non fiction and the editor of the Solution book series (Sternberg Press). His latest book is the novel "Solution 257: Complete Love". Joshua Simon is a writer and curator, and is the director and chief curator of MoBY-Museums of Bat Yam. He is the author of "Neomaterialism" (Sternberg Press, 2013), and editor of "Ruti Sela: For The Record" (Archive Books, 2015). Simon holds a PhD from Goldsmiths College. Kostis Stafylakis, Art theorist and visual artist, Dr in Political Science, Adjunct at University of Patras.
Jonas Staal is an artist and PhD researcher based in Rotterdam, the Netherlands. Staal’s work includes interventions in public space, exhibitions, theater plays, publications and lectures, focusing on the relationship between art, democracy and propaganda.
Vincent W.J. van Gerven Oei is a philologist and co-director of independent open access humanities publisher punctum books, where he also manages Dotawo, the imprint of the Union for Nubian Studies.

sentient peoples of issadai (pt 3): merfolk
Out of all four sentient peoples of Issadai, the merfolk are the only aquatic species. They are somewhat isolated from the other three peoples, due to the fact that most have gills instead of lungs, and cannot leave the water. They also can’t speak human and tousa languages, lacking primate-like vocal cords. Because of these difficulties in communication, merfolk have historically been distrustful of land dwellers, and hesitant to establish contact with them. 
For their part, humans and tousa are also wary of the merfolk; their ways of life are so drastically different that there is little they can relate to. For most of Issadai’s history, land dwellers and merfolk have had a tacit agreement to simply leave each other alone, though certain people-groups and merfolk clans have a history of trade and even friendship. In more recent times, advanced sorcery has made communication with the merfolk much easier, allowing land dwellers to truly connect with them for the first time. It’s common now for most coastal peoples to have some sort of contact with the merfolk clans that live near them, and merfolk are starting to become involved in land-dwelling society as well, which has had consequences both positive and negative.
Early in recorded history, following the destruction of Issadai’s smallest moon, Ashan, the subsequent rain of meteors and deadly ash corrupted Issadai's water. This, combined with sudden volcanic activity that caused the deep-sea vents to start spewing toxic metals and other compounds into the oceans, wiped out a significant portion of the merfolk population. The remainder struggled to survive; many fish species they depended on for food had gone extinct due to the poisoning of the water, as well as the ice age that gripped the planet after the disaster. As the climate has recovered and the oceans cleared, the merfolk population has climbed back to its pre-disaster levels.
Merfolk have a humanoid head, torso, and arms. Those that live in open water have a long, supple tail and strong pelvic fins to aid in steering, while coastal merfolk may have a short tail and fully developed legs. All merfolk have gills set into the sides of their necks, and their hands are webbed and clawed. Over long distances merfolk communicate with a language that resembles whalesong, but close-up they speak in whistles, clicks, and pops somewhat like dolphins do. They are carnivores who can unhinge their jaws to eat; they have double rows of sharp teeth, gaping black eyes, slits for a nose, and crests on their heads that they flare to display status and defend territory. They also have throat pouches that can be expanded and flushed bright red for territorial displays, and for when females are ready to lay their eggs. Though merfolk social structures vary between clans, most are matriarchal. Males are small and slender, only slightly larger than humans and are fast and agile. Females are strong and heavy-boned, and do not stop growing throughout their lives, sometimes reaching the size of larger whales. All merfolk are born male, but about one in eight become female during puberty. Merfolk generally live to about a hundred years old, though two or even three hundred is not unheard of. Females tend to live longer than males.
Tropical and subtropical merfolk are slim, brightly colored and patterned, and have large fins that they use for communication. They live in large clans made up of several extended families; clans frequently trade with one another, but refrain from encroaching on each other’s hunting grounds, as doing so can lead to feuds that last for generations. A clan is made up of several adult males and only two or three adult females (referred to as matriarchs), as well as any juveniles who aren’t old enough to strike out on their own and find a new clan. The matriarchs rule the clan, deciding when and where they will hunt, as well as which members stay with the clan after reaching adulthood. When hunting, the males drive schools of fish towards the matriarchs, who corner them, allowing the whole clan to feast. To bring down large prey the males heckle it, inflicting many small wounds, until it is so exhausted that the matriarchs can finish it off. If one of the matriarchs of a clan dies, one of the males can become female to take her place, but cannot change back to male. Southern merfolk are more familiar with humans than their northern cousins, and even trade with coastal land dwellers. Despite this, they seldom emerge from the water and thus have long tails and pelvic fins instead of legs.
Merfolk that live in temperate and arctic waters are thicker-bodied, with dull coloring and long, eel-like tails. Those that live in open water have dark dorsal coloring and lighter bellies to camouflage them from both predators and prey. They have large eyes and tympanic membranes on the sides of their heads to help them navigate the dark northern waters. Unlike their southern cousins, they usually lead solitary lives, except when it comes time to mate or to migrate to warmer waters for the winter, when they come together as loose groups to make the journey south. Most northern merfolk do not go near shore or interact with humans in any way. Because of their mysterious and solitary nature, many northern land-dwellers fear them; merfolk appear as an alien foe or even servants of evil in the mythologies of many northern peoples.
Coastal and freshwater merfolk are markedly different from their open-water cousins—most have a short tail and well-developed legs instead of pelvic fins, as well as dual lungs and gills so that they can move freely between land and water. Unlike open-water merfolk, they display minimal sexual dimorphism; adult males and females are both about the same size as humans, and generally short and stocky. They tend to have green and brown mottled skin that serves as camouflage both in and out of the water, and their faces are more humanoid than their deep-water cousins’, with a prominent nose instead of flat nostril slits, smaller eyes with functional eyelids instead of nictitating membranes, and smaller mouths and teeth (thanks to the introduction of cooked food into their diets, via human influence).
Many coastal and freshwater merfolk clans have had dealings with humans for centuries, and participate in trade and cultural exchange with their land-dwelling neighbors. In many places, merfolk and humans have developed sign languages for communication between the two species. Some land-walking merfolk have even begun to use written language, consisting of hieroglyphics which in many cases are based on the form of the hand sign of the same meaning. When coming onto land, most land-walking merfolk don heavy robes and veils to protect their delicate amphibious skin from drying out and blistering under the sun. These garments are not only functional but have a religious purpose as well: merfolk attach amulets to their veils and robes to protect themselves from the spirits of the land, whom they believe see them as trespassers in their realm.
