Sweater Dresses for Toddlers

A batch of solid colored retextures of @deedee-sims 4t2 Casteru Sweater Dress.

The files are shown in numerical order on the swatch. And the swatch shows a diff knit texture - it stretched funny in-game so I redid the works with a different knit. The first sixteen are Fruit Punch, then five or so Colored Solids, soot and snow from Yeti colors, the last fourteen are Pushing Daisies colors.

my first collab with wonderful @applewatersugar! we're both a big fan of @jius-sims's shoes, just... not quite the polycount that they come with. so piper was amazing and manually poly-reduced all 6 shoes from their children's shoes collection 04, while i've converted them to ts2, plus made fullbody outfits for them to go with! 🥰

there are 6 pantless bottoms for children in this download, plus 6 fullbody outfits, for toddlers and kids, to pair with them! i tried to keep them all unique, with tights and stockings as decoration 🥰 where it made sense some of them are unisex, but more details are under the cut. everything is low- to medium-poly. we hope to continue this collaboration, and eventually convert all of jius's shoes to ts2, so stay tuned!!

PU Warm Dress (with pantalettes) - Regency Conversion Set pt. 1

This is a conversion and recolor of @simbury's Dotted Flowers dress, which was so cute that I decided to learn how to do 2t4 conversions. It's the first piece in a Regency-themed set (of indeterminate size) that I have planned for the end of 2023. I assume I'll be too busy for CC-making for a large part of 2024 (yay matriculation exams!), so you could consider this set an attempt to make up for that.

I've used the word regency a few times, but this dress is pretty timeless. Just like... 1800 to 1900. Kids' clothes are neat like that.

The very first swatch (the blue one below) is from the original ts2 dress, but the rest are my recolors.

Get to know you: Sims Style

I was tagged by @pockethamster and @furbyq-sims so here we goooo.

What’s your favorite Sims death?

In general: the satellite, cuz of the piano replacement that I have. It is also one of the most efficient ways to cull townies.

Specific deaths that have happened to my sims: Tiara dying in a toddler potty. No death in my game has ever/will ever be funnier.

Alpha CC Semi-realism or Maxis Match?

Semi-realism. Maybe it's cuz I started playing when that was the common style, but maxis match just looks very ... flat to me? Very papery. I've seen it done in a really fun, cartoon-y style by some creators, but that seems to be the minority and most of it seems to hew very neutral/natural toned and I am not about that lol. Even IRL, I like to surround myself with bright, colorful stuff.

Do you cheat your sims weight?

Like, keep them thin? lmao no. I let their personality determine whether they exercise, but that has nothing to do with them being fat, as far as I'm concerned. I use a lot of fat bodyshapes because I'm fat myself and I like to have a lot of variety in my game. I don't have any system for deciding whether I use the maxis default body or a custom shape, I just go with what looks right to me.

Do you move objects?

Are there people who don't?

Favorite Mod?

Hm, either ACR v2 or Walk Through Blocks. I like my sims to be able to make as many autonomous decisions as possible, and navigate the spaces that I cram full of clutter.

First Expansion/Game Pack/Stuff Pack?

In the Sims 1 the first expansion I got was Hot Date. I played TS2 from release, so my first expansion was University.

Do you pronounce live mode like aLIVE or LIVing?

Alive.

Who’s your favorite sim that you’ve made?

I mean, it has to be Mawreen, right? If only for the chaos that she's sown.

Have you made a simself?

Yeah a few throughout the years, and I haven't played them in ages. Mostly I just use them for silly little pics with @skulldilocks's selfsim.

Which is your favorite EA hair color?

One of the custom ones, I guess! I don't remember, I have all the EA hairs hidden lol.

Favorite EA hair?

I don't have one, really. Maybe some of the natural black hairstyles converted from TS4 but I couldn't name specific meshes.

Favorite life stage?

Adult! I made a custom aging mod so I can go through the other stages relatively quickly. The way my game is set up, they unlock all their traits and wants once they're an adult, and I like to see who they are as a fully realized person, so that's the most fun for me.

Are you a builder or are you in it for the gameplay?

Gameplay. I have a lot of fun making houses based on real floorplans that I find, but it's mostly just stage dressing for the little freaks that inhabit them.

Are you a CC creator?

Yeh.

Do you have any Simblr friends or a Sim Squad?

I mean, @skulldilocks obvs. People don't approach me much so there's only a few ppl that I talk to regularly like @furbyq-sims and @lilithpleasant. I am not really the "squad" type.

Do you have any sims merch?

This is a real thing?

Do you have a YouTube for sims?

Nope! I would never stream gameplay, the way I play isn't interesting. Lots of pausing and carefully adjusting angles to take pictures, getting distracted by other stuff, random crashes, etc. And editing that footage into something watachable would take ages. My play style lends itself better to picture entries, so I use Dreamwidth.

How has your “Sims style” changed throughout your years of playing?

More colors, more aliens, more [[JAM FACTORY]] lore.

Who’s your favorite CC creator?

@skulldilocks no question! I love watching her create anything for any game or craft. She's so talented. It doesn't matter if she's making sims cc or custom houses for Skyrim or doll clothes or anything else, she's my biggest inspiration.

How long have you had Simblr?

2010, babeyyyy.

How do you edit your pictures?

I have a tutorial here. I need to update it because I use different actions now, but most of the actual information there is still accurate.

What expansion/gamepack is your favorite?

I want to say pets because I love cats so very much, but in terms of actual content, probablyyyy FreeTime? I like anything that makes sims more unique and the hobby system is a lot of fun!

Hi there! Thanks!

So I don't personally use the 3t2 personality traits, but I'm obsessed with Epi's color traits and Epi's various mods to make certain things like the coffee cup, tooth brush, etc appear in a sim's favorite color.

For the premade sims in my Strangetown I just used what they were already wearing as their favorite color (ie - Olive Specter's favorite color is black...shock wow) and at the moment my plan for born sims is to use whatever they're wearing when they age into a toddler, although I may randomize it in the future if I start having lots of sims with the same favorite. Or in the case of Claire Loner - she arrived in the social worker van wearing that gray bear suit so I decided her favorite color is gray and gave her the gray color trait from Epi. Then dressed her in all gray, gave her a gray room, etc.

By themselves the color traits don't do anything other than serve as a reminder for me how to dress/decorate for said sim, but the mods to change the color of certain objects (cup, tooth brush, engagement ring stone, etc) are pretty neat. For example in this photo here where General Buzz set down his coffee cup on Ripp's desk. It's green because Buzz's favorite color is green and he has the color trait in his inventory. If Ripp, whose favorite color is purple, got coffee he'd have a purple cup.

I admire those who use the 3t2 personality traits and assign actual traits to their sims but I just don't have the patience for those. One singular color trait per sim though, that I can do.

What’s your favorite Sims death? Every death is hilarious--fire and drowning are iconic, ofc. My fave sims GHOST, however, is the Haunted one from SN, and the Hologram one from ITF.

Alpha CC or Maxis Match? Alpha CC. I don't mind Maxis Match in TS3, but EFF NO in TS4--get that clayfied crap out of my face, alpha all the waaaaaay~!

Do you cheat your sims weight? YES, I use a weight gain mod.

Do you move objects? MOOOOOOOO! 🐄🐮

Favorite Mod? I juuuuust made a whole post drooling over my faves.

First Expansion/Game Pack/Stuff Pack? TS1 Makin Magic. Iconic.

Who’s your favorite sim that you’ve made? My avatar sim, Sakura Rain, the time-traveling Japanese cherry-tree faery of the Unseelie Court. (She's inspired by all my fave pink-haired anime characters.)

Have you made a simself? Yes, but only when I play The Sims with my family members, and we take turns making each other and our home. It's so much fun.

Which is your favorite EA hair color? White. Especially after TS4 came out with no CASt or color wheel and I couldn't even recreate my main sims like wtf. I have a type, EA!

Favorite EA hair? PFFT! 🙄 I can't stand most of the hairs EA makes in general, especially not the ones for male sims, as most of mine have very long hair.

Favorite life stage? Young adult, by default. But as more mods have been made for kids (No Stretch, Child Magic, Toddler Interactions) I have been enjoying child sims FAR more than I used to.

Are you a builder or are you in it for the gameplay? I'm a builder--that's how I got into TS1 way back in the day. I like decorating interiors--my exteriors are usually sad, I suck at using CFE--and just cluttering up my lots. As a fandom-inspired storyteller, I rely on in-game interactions to give my sims the poses/scenes I need, so having deep and immersive gameplay that allows me to recreate whatever fandoms I want is key.

Are you a CC creator? Unfortunately.

Do you have any Simblr friends or a Sim Squad? A "sim squad"???

Do you have any sims merch? No, but I want one of those plumbbob headbands so I can dress up as a sim on Halloween. XD

Do you have a Youtube for sims? Technically no. I got into making TS3 machinimas inspired by my favorite music a few years ago, and would upload them to Youtube cuz that's what everyone did, but omfg all the recent changes in copyright and music policies has made it SUCH a headache uploading ANYWHERE--including Tumblr!

Like, my most recent IWTV insp. machinima on Tumblr has that stupid Copyright Guidelines thumbnail on it, even though Tumblr ACCEPTED the video and let it go through--it plays! It's not removed, so wtf??? No matter how many times I tried reuploading it I got the same problem--this BS is more trouble than it's worth, tbh.

How has your “Sims style” changed throughout your years of playing? My gameplay will always look a bit pudding, but I think/hope I'm getting better at recreating different fandoms, and getting the level of detail down just right.

Who’s your favorite CC creator? It takes a village. There is no ONE creator--especially since all my OG faves retired a long time ago: Luna, @qingshuangtongzi, Hekate999, etc. And new simmers pop up everyday that blow my mind, so yeah, it's just the community at large, really. 💚💚💚

How long have you had Simblr? 2013--this July will make it a full decade. Tumblr's trash but it's also the absolute best, LOL.

How do you edit your pictures? I suck at editing--in GIMP I just tweak the "Curves" brightness & saturation when the in-game lighting is hot garbage, then call it a win.

What expansion/ gamepack is your favorite? (TS1) Makin Magic, (TS2) Apartment Life & Night Life are tied for witches & vampires, (TS3) Supernatural, (TS4) Vampires. Like, Supernatural changed my life, I seriously doubt I'd've kept playing TS3 as long as I have without SN. I also love World Adventures and Into the Future of course, but Supernatural gave us Witches, Faeries, Werewolves, (I'm not even gonna talk about TS3's busted Vampires like how the EFF were they "updated" or "fixed" when we STILL didn't get a functional coffin, like what frikkin vampire would sleep on a frikkin altar exposed to the sunlight like a effing BUFFOON, EA?!) and all kinds of fanciful content that I just can't live without. Hands down. 🧙🪄🧙‍♀️✨

Is there anyone out there that might be willing to convert the Sims 2 pants with flames/fire on the legs to Sims 3, please? Those were my favourite pair of pants to use in the game and I have a character that I would LOVE for them to be used on. And, if it's not too much trouble, could the flames be recoloured? so, since i caught that one virus, i've been playing around a bit more with ts2 cc creation and finally had the time to work on converting a big set again. but then... what to convert? the answer came to me in the links section of a random lookbook... in a sort of fever dream. a set that captures the recent theme on my blog, families, and yet completely destroys it at the same time: my wedding trauma.

everything here is remarkably versatile. i mean, i know for a fact that people aren't just going to use that jumpsuit for a wedding, elvis needs more freedom than that! there are 9 cas items and 6 buy items for a total of 17 items in this set!

the original ts4 collaboration is complete perfection; it has just the sort of trashy, nonsensical vibes that the ts2 wedding department is sorely lacking. my conversion of this isn't perfect, i'm still learning how to do clothing and there are some minor issues mentioned below the cut, but overall i think that it came out pretty good and i hope it invokes some chaos in your game. 💥

Okay okay okay so before you ask "What is this and also why", you know that whole chronology thing in The Sims series? How the order of games within the lore is TS3, TS1, TS2, and then TS4 is outside of all that? And how additionally, TS2 is set in 2004, TS1 takes place 25 years before that, and TS3 takes place 25 years before TS1? Doing some basic math, that places TS3 in 1954.

Every so often I get these Ideas™ (some may say delusions) where I want to have things look a Certain Way, and The Sims is no different. I wanted to know what my Sims would look like if they were from the 1950s, and so I went on a huge dive through all sorts of tumblrs, looking for vintage clothing, specifically from the American 1930s-50s.

But that wasn't enough because of course it wasn't.

I realized that people are not always wearing the height of fashion for their current era (I, for example, am definitely not wearing whatever is the Thing for the 2020s). It's also important (so I said to myself) to keep in mind that hand-me-downs exist, that certain money-saving habits exist, and so Sims like the Brokes (known for being broke) might not have that stuff. So I then started trying to figure out what kind of clothes they would have, and how that would look, which eventually dumped me down a further rabbit hole where I asked one (1) simple question: when where the Brokes born?

Like if Flat and Flo were elders in The Sims 3 (which is ever so vaguely suggested to be the mid-1950s), then how old were they? When were they born? I decided to break the age stages down into

newborn: birth-6 months

infant: 7 months-2 years

toddler: 3 years-5 years (I know, a bit of a stretch)

child: 8 years-13 years

teen: 13 years-19 years

young adult: 20 years-30 years

adult: 40 years-60 years

elder: 70 years-death

With that in mind, Flo and Flat would have been around 70 in TS3. 1954 - 70 = 1884. Absolutely insane. This Sims are so old. But then I was wondering when they would have gotten married, since that is a pretty big life event. I had Flo and Flat get married a bit later in their young adulthoods, so I placed their marriage at 30 years, making it 1914. So then I set about looking up formal/wedding clothes that people wore in the early- to mid-1900s, which was the Edwardian era, and then starting to move into the Rawring 20s uwu, but again keeping in mind that Flo and Flat might not have been able to afford brand new clothes, they had slightly older wedding outfits.

I then did the same thing with Mary Lu and Buck, just with the difference in time. Buck and Flat have a huge age gap, Flat is an elder when Buck is still a young adult (towards the end of his young adulthood, but still). So I again tried to figure some stuff out, and decided that Flat was 30 years older than Buck. A very big age difference, barely possible, but still aligning with the established timeline (I must ask again why TS3 did this). We already know that 1884 + 30 = 1914, so that is when Buck (and Mary Lu, for convenience) were born.

Unlike Flo and Flat, Mary Lu and Buck got married as soon as they could, because they (very scandalously) had a child before marriage, so they got married at 18 (I did look up average ages of marriage around when they would have gotten married and it was in the early 20s), and 1914 + 18 = 1932. And so I again looked up general wedding garb from the 20s and 30s, and actually had to download some CC this time, and hey presto! I got everything taken care of.

The best part of all of this, is that the pictures are actually in my game, like I could replace the wedding photo I initially had for Flo and Flat and replace it (I might do it, I'm not sure), and now Buck and Mary Lu actually have a wedding photo.
