Twisted halo deep dive: Monsters #2

Missy Kissy

Missy kissy is a boss enemy encountered by Susie in the starting phases of her journey throughout the studio. This monster is a towering spire of ink and arms covered with lipstick marks with a face sporting a massive grin and two large googly eyes with constantly asymmetrical pupils.

Missy kissy reaches to the tips of the ceiling rafters and is bound to her puddle therefore relies on her long spindly arms to drag other ink creatures towards herself. She mechanically acts like a Rafter witch monster but with twice the reach and with the ability to slam on the ground delivering shock waves and breaking objects around her, such as floorboards and sofas. Additionally Missy kissy will often spin around spewing geysers of ink from her hands and body.

Missy Kissy represents Susie's repressed feelings while working at the studio. Susie was forced to hide her feelings of affection towards Allison and this is represented by the kiss marks on the monsters hands as she hides her feelings behind them.

The Maestro/The tired dancing dead (TTDD)

The Maestro is a gigantic thing lurking in the ceiling that commonly appears in areas with large quantities of alice angel corpses. The only part of this creature ever seen is it’s bloated hand with each spindly finger wrapped tightly with threads and hooks.

Upon noticing Susie it will drop down these hooks on strings to lift up and ‘animate’ the dead alice corpses to attack Susie and mock her. It is important to note that these alice corpses have not been brought back to life, rather their dead inanimate bodies are being manipulated and moved like puppets by the Maestro living up above. The only way to combat this creature is to cut their strings so that they cannot continue moving the alice corpses. Alternatively these corpses are in the process of rotting and can be easily hacked to bits. Regardless of the method of disposal the Maestro cannot truly be stopped and will eventually return in any area with enough corpses in it. It is an omniscient and relentless threat.

This Monster represents the endless workday, the feeling of having a new task demanding your attention the moment you complete your current one, and seeing a sea of work and tasks beyond the next one. This feeling of overwhelming and endless anxiety is what the Maestro represents.

Lonely Angel

This monster is a sinister siren that lurks in pools/lakes of ink within the studio. Upon first glance one is forgiven for assuming they are seeing a perfect toon Alice beckoning them towards her with her serene expression and soothing song. However this is not the actual toon Alice but rather an extension of a much larger creature lurking underneath the lake of ink. This fake Alice is the tongue of the creature and when other monsters are drawn near the song they hear they are snatched and gobbled up by the creature.

The singing of this creature can also manipulate standard Alices to attack Susie in order to protect the Lonely Angel, the song puts a spell on them that drives them to protect their ‘perfect angel’ violently.

This creature represents the false promise of Susie's job position and the role of Alice angel in general which lured in many unlucky voice actresses to their demise, blinded by the desire for stardom.

Miss Suckerpunch

Suckerpunchers are hopping menaces that can be commonly found with standard alices and Lindy Hoppers. These creatures stand out from the crowd by being efficient in both long ranged and close ranged attacks. When close these creatures will bite at Susie with their large teeth and when a distance away these creatures will extend a boxing glove on a spring from their mouth to knock susie down and give other enemies the chance to close in without retaliation. These creatures maneuver around by bouncing across rooms with their lower half made up of a plunger and spring system.

This monster represents Susie’s annoyance at her coworkers especially those who asked her for favors when she was already being drowned in work. It’s persistent nature and jittery appearance represents the utter annoyance Susie regarded these coworkers with.

Lady Groundworks

This monster is a droning and gloomy beast that emerges at random intervals from the floors and lower walls to swallow anything in its path. The monster will occasionally dredge itself from its puddle in order to pursue Susie however is usually so large that it cannot leave its puddle instead content to wait for unlucky creatures to wander into its mouth.

This monster represents the feeling of having the world being pulled from under your feet, the feeling of the ground opening up beneath you, and the overall type of uncertainty that can only be felt in a toxic/dangerous work environment.

I enjoy seeing your posts and love the talent and dedication you put into all of your stories. I absolutely love the way you add graphics to your stories and the texting/modern style that you share with us. It’s so amazing, I get so happy when I read them.
