[ID: Myrtle stands in a room of her house, talking to a friend who sits on an armchair. /end] Myrtle: Yes, I started exercising only yesterday and I've lost three eighths of an ounce already. Friend: Remarkable.
[ID: John Sappo sits on the train next to his friend Bill, who leans over from his paper to talk with him. /end] Bill: I think you should have phoned your wife that I was coming out to eat with you to-night. Sappo: Don't worry, Bill, that's all right.
[ID: Sappo and Bill walk down the road together. /end] Sappo: It's no bother at all. Don't let that trouble you.
[ID: Sappo walks across a room of his house. /end] Sappo: I'll go tell her you're here, Bill.
[ID: Bill stands, petrified with embarrassment, as he overhears Myrtle in the other room. /end] Myrtle: John, is that dumb-bell in the other room?
[ID: Sappo watches out the window as Bill sprints away from the house. Myrtle finds the dumbbell on the floor beside a footstool. /end] Myrtle: Oh, there it is. Behind the stool. Sappo: ?

Near our camp site this weekend was this vintage trailer. The people there saw Sulley and told me they had Australian Shepherds too, back at home. Using that as an ice breaker, I brought Ella and Oliver over for an Aussie party. Then those campers let me check out this adorable trailer.
The owners said they heard about this thing, rotting away in some barn. After buying it for a pittance, they dragged it home and spent a good deal of time refurbishing it. And by “refurbishing” they meant removing the outer skin, throwing away everything that was left, and basically starting from scratch. The outside shell, with those cool slatted windows remained all original.
The inside was so cute. There was a modern flat-screen TV on one wall. Keeping with the vintage theme, the owners found really old TV control knobs on Etsy or Ebay to use with a custom wood frame. The only thing missing was a TV remote control (i.e., “clicker”) with four buttons (channel up, channel down, volume up, volume down).

Dang. I wish I was that creative.
Back home, after Sheila and I cleaned and parked our trailer this afternoon, we went to REI for the Big Annual Sale. The parking lot was insane. inside, however, wasn’t so bad.
Speaking of vintage and REI... we saw this modern mini van in the REI parking lot today.
Who remembers 70s shaggin’ wagons with the bubble windows? This example here has a flat round window. I guess, as the old convex tube TVs transitioned to flat screen devices, it is not surprising the bubble windows went flat too.
Sadly, this Ram van was all white. I hope the owner looks into getting someone to paint a crazy desert or moon landscape all over the side, and covering everything else in orange paint.

We already own an enormous Yeti cooler that keeps a dead body cold for two months, or something like that. But it takes two to three young people wearing weightlifting belts to safely carry it without incurring back injuries.
I’ve been wanting something a bit lighter. When the people at the next camp sight say, “Come on over, Bob” (as they often do) I will be able to bring a my cooler of beer (or Diet Dr. Pepper) with and not have to ask someone for ibuprofen after I sit down.
We bought an REI brand version of a Yeti. It’s not completely equal to a Yeti, but it’s less likely to be a target of thieves and, at the sale price, cost a third of a similar sized Yeti. Fully loaded I can carry it myself. Empty, I have to set a large rock on it so the wind or a mischievous bird doesn't take it away.
We all had a good time this weekend.

conrad's family.
paternal grandmother: mairead o'malley (née kermode), born 1909. the matriarch of the family. highly opinionated and compassionate. activist. birdwatcher. took up watercolour painting in her late 40s and never looked back. loved the bones of conrad. no matter what. when she passed on, there was no one left who wanted to remember him, so a little bit more of conrad died, too.
father: theodore o'malley, born 1938. primary care physician, movie buff, and skilled juggler. (this is where conrad inherited his clownish tendencies.) still alive.
mother: dorothy o'malley (née doyle), born 1940. journalism and communication professor who had tenure at boston university. enjoys theatre, embroidery and bowling. still alive.
brother: nolan o'malley, born 1960. mechanic who specializes in repairing vintage cars. connie was his henchman growing up, although it didn't come with very many benefits since he would still steal food from his plate at every meal. still alive.
brother: loren o'malley, born 1961. the most saintly of all the o'malley children and wicked smart. lawyer and cat lover. closeted gay man (his family already know and are patiently waiting for him to realize that.) all the o'malley kids are/have been in therapy, but loren's opened up the most out of all of them about what happened to their brother. still alive.
sister: saoirse o'malley, born 1964. was the closest to conrad growing up - they squabbled and fought frequently but he was the only one of her siblings she could ever tell secrets to. headstrong and outspoken and restless. journalist looking for a career change. still alive.
sister: aoife o'malley, born 1970. thought conrad was the funniest person ever. didn't find him so funny after the unmentionable happened. stereotypical lesbian gym teacher and avid weightlifter. owns a rescue dog named kenny. still alive.
brother and sister: wilbur o'malley, born 1973, and wilma o'malley, born 1974. they were the two who walked in on conrad the night it happened. to them, conrad is a legend and a myth, and he has a recurring guest role in their nightmares. wilbur has a good education but struggles to hold down jobs. he self-medicates. wilma hasn't said a single word since 1979, although her speech development was markedly slow before then. she's a sign language tutor and works with deaf children. she takes after her grandmother - she's a phenomenal painter. it comes with a catch, though. she can only seem to paint rabbits. still alive.

Note
you probably build stuff
Again, I hope you know who you’re talking to, because the “send me an assumption” post has been reblogged over 1,000 times.
(Based on your wording, I do think I may be the one you’re speaking to.)
In short, yes, I do build things. Random Ikea furniture, Lego botanicals, 3-D art (such as restoration and re-painting of vintage Playmobil miniatures), sewing and fabrication of specialty items (I’ve made a leather replica of Bucky’s Winter Soldier vest, several specialty covers for medical equipment, and a fair amount of jewelry—both for regular wear and for cosplay—made from metal charms, jump rings, and various chains/cords).
The actual original designation of my blog as Builder was mostly meant to be a nod to my interest/obsession with weightlifting and body sculpting back around summer 2017, when I was at the prime of my ballet career, and I was receiving a good deal of cash and swag for gigs as a fitness model, brand representative, and the object of some publicity photos for my ballet company, etc.)
This is definitely not so true anymore; I have become disabled and chronically ill, so basic needs to move through my daily life are sometimes a struggle. I can’t work out and strength-train as I could have done 4 or 5 years ago. I still do my best to be healthily active with stuff like swimming and weekly open level ballet class, and I frequently work on planks, push-ups, and stretching with a theraband. I coach my little student with supplemental mini-lessons and stretching sessions, which are super rewarding.
I’m nowhere near the (bodybuilding) aspect of my previous life, but I still identify with that title, as I build my art and my stories, then polish them up into self-published projects to share with the rest of the world.
