Looking for New Writeblrs!

With the recent twitter exodus and bot spam flooding my notes, I want to find new people who are actually people. I know y'all are there lurking, so take this as an opportunity to introduce yourself and turn this into a follow train! I'll go first...

You can call me Etta or Etta Grace, and I write fantasy of all kinds. Most of my stories resolve around family dynamics, and I run a website where I post weekly book reviews, writing advice, excerpts, and goals. I've been involved on writeblr since Summer 2019 and so I know a fair number of folks here, but I'm always happy to meet new people and learn about your WIPs! Hey guys

I just wanted this to be my full formal apology. I've been needing to write this for a few months and I think I was blocked from the right words to say, out of anger and my own struggles. Let me explain

I started this blog last year to get away from writeblr drama and like, some people I considered friends who we all turned on each other and now no longer speak to each other.

I admit I have a part to play in the blame, what I said and did was wrong and I pushed some very important people away when I didn't intend to. I'm learning to be a better person and learning from my mistakes because sometimes I don't understand things and they're not really explained well.

I thought what I was doing, was helping people but maybe I wasn't doing enough, or I was doing too much of the wrong thing. All I know is, looking back on it - I was wrong. And I was too hurt to see that.

I only want to make writeblr and my friends and everyone else, happy. I want writeblr to be a nice place for everyone to get along with, to get feedback and support and all that jazz.

That doesn't make things better. I know I can't go back and repair the bridges that have been burnt and I can't repair those relationships. But just know that I am very sorry if I ever came across as rude or weird. It was not my intention.

Looking back, I could have done things a lot better and through learning things about myself, I've learned that I need to do better. I want to understand. I want to help.

Words can't describe how sorry I am and I know that won't bring anything back. But hopefully we can look to the future now. I want this year onwards to be a good year for everyone I'm friends with, with those who want to get to know me. I don't want to fall out.

I've met so many wonderful people and I really owe everything to you guys. Ya'll are amazing.

WIP(s): The Serpents They Stone - In an alternate version of our world where gods lived alongside humankind and brought them to a new level of technological prosperity, the dreaded World Serpent Jörmungandr reveals herself to have survived Ragnarok while rescuing her villainous old flame, the Phantom Queen Badb. Quickly finding herself pursued by the entire world for the prophecy that promises she will end the world, Jörmungandr dedicates herself to saving Badb from the "Black Pharaoh" that enslaves her - even as Badb is forcibly driven to remain sinister and create chaos.

Miasma - Based on the Anglo-Norman invasion of Ireland & the later Black Death, the island of Ériu is besieged by the foreign Anglii and their High King is killed. His daughter, Hail, dies with him, but she is resurrected by the serpent goddess Corchen with one objective - to kill King Godric across the ocean, no matter the cost. Her mission soon intertwines with that of a mysterious plague doctor's, who seeks to stop an oncoming plague - one that could spell the end of all life.

Mythology(ies): All, but predominantly Norse, Egyptian, Aztec, Celtic (mostly Welsh/Irish), Greek, Japanese, Chinese, Greek, Sumerian, Mayan, Slavic, Hawaiian, Christian, etc.

WIP(s): Maidens and Monsters: sapphic retelling of Scylla’s monsterization, in which she is so beautiful, the ocean (and it’s patrons) cannot help but be drawn to her and too much divine attention in one place always leads to ruin.

Light and What Lies Below: In-between of Maidens and Monsters and OH, in which Calypso makes a deal with Hades, creating Davy Jones’ locker before the sailor is even born.

Ocean’s Heart: Dual POV retelling merging Ogygia Calypso with Davy Jones Calypso, in which when he binds her to a mortal body, he binds her to the island as well.

Her Name is Kore: Persephone/Hades retelling in which Kore knows, even as an unannounced goddess, that she is destined to be something more than just Demeter’s daughter.

Mythology(ies): Greek

WIP(s): Kingdom of Ichor (A YA fantasy series) A modern retelling of classic Greek myths with the gods and goddesses being a focal point. Each book in the series will be told in dual POV following a potential couple. I don't know how long I want the series to be, but I do know it's gonna be pretty expansive! The first book is titled Of Flowers and Darkness, which will be a retelling of the myth of Hades & Persephone.

WIP(s): Fuck Gods (also referred to as WIP MILF). Life has not been kind to those at Nueva Vida Institution, a residential facility for “deeply disturbed” individuals. The institution seems normal from the outside, but a group of friends on the inside think that there’s more to this place than meets the eyes: they think it’s a end-of-life sacrificial home for those the gods have chosen, and that their life-forces are being drained. They’ve decided that before the gods can get to them, they’re going to complete their life-long goals of getting closure. And to do this, they plan to kill some gods.

Mythology(ies): Greek myths are retold through the character arcs and through parallels. Achilles, Sisyphus, Medusa, Icarus, Pandora's Box

Set in the fictitious province called San Andres, following the lives and misadventures of related characters, all while uncovering the secrets of their ancestors and the land. The expanding universe of the series is affectionately named, Elementaliaverse (@elementaliaverse).

Fair Waters: A novella set in Elementalieverse. | The story follows Elias Hernandez, a photojournalist, and aspiring news writer. He finds himself traveling to the northernmost province of the archipelago after discovering the mysterious case of one of its islands. Soon, he realizes the mystery he’s trying to unravel goes as deep as the ocean. And himself, a pawn to more malicious affairs.

Mariang Makiling: A retelling of the legend of Mariang Makiling. | A group hikes across the inland territories of Maquiling to visit its apparent hidden waters. Failing to reach their destination in time, they camp near a burial ground. There, they would discover something ancient and vile.

They fucking saved you, but this is far from over, I mouth to him, before allowing my attention to be dragged to the newcomer. He’s tall and slender. Dark messy hair, dark brown eyes that look tired and like he’s seen too much. He looks like he doesn’t get enough sleep.

For betray (from the 2nd Fall of the Sirens novella):

“He has betrayed his people,” he tells them, tone calm though there’s a slight air of disgust in it. “He tried to hurt his own child.” “She was the one that betrayed us!” Someone shouts in argument against him. I hear the pause in his statements as his eyes meet the man’s that spoke up. His lips are tight and pursed together, though he offers no response for a long time.

For annoy (from An Animal's Apocalypse):

“God, would you stop whining already?” An annoyed voice sighed impatiently. I leapt up, not expecting to hear any voices. After I realized I was alone, I figured maybe my anxiety was causing me to hear voices. So I started to walk around again, but that’s when I heard wings flap from behind me.

For breath (from Nyr Death Experiences):

“You don’t remember me coming by?” She repeated. “I don’t,” I confirmed, taking the milk and chugging half of it, then wiping my lips. Some of the food spat at her and she hissed, cursing under her breath, then returning to the conversation at hand.

For yellow (from In the Eyes of Pets):

However… as he carries me away from my home, I start to smell something that shifts my focus completely - it’s that yellow stuff I love so much! It’s the yellow stuff he always gives me when I do things he wants me to do! The tasty, wonderful yellow stuff that has such a nice feel in my mouth.

9 Lines, 9 People Tag Game

Context: Briar and Semira know that Achaemenes is part fey and they're trying to figure out if he's part of the disappearances happening on campus.

Now that Achaemenes knew what was going on exactly, he was a lot more comfortable in this office. “So, where’s the interrogation?” he asked, leaning back in his chair with his hands behind his head. “Who’s the good cop, who’s the bad cop? Unless you just wanna drop that, cuz it won’t take that to get me to talk. I don’t give a shit now.”

“’Now’? What changed?” the dark-skinned woman—Dr. Adams?—asked.

“Oh. I wasn’t sure why I got dog person vibes from them in class,” Achaemenes began, pointing to Briar, “but now I know the vibes weren’t off. You don’t have a dog, you are one. Kinda. Part time.”

“I—wh?! You don’t—know that!” Briar sputtered.

“So,” Achaemenes continued as if he’d never heard Briar’s objection, “she’s not gonna kill me. She’s palling around with a werewolf, and technically, I’m not even fey, so if she won’t kill you, she won’t kill me. Besides, killing me in her office? On campus? That’s probably the actual worst murder plot. I figured you guys were at least going to take me out into the woods.”

“I don’t kill before I know that I’ve gotta. But how do I know you’re not lying about any of this? If you’re not full fey, you can lie more reliably,” Dr. Adams pointed out.

“Give her a gold star or whatever you do for good students,” Achaemenes told Briar, pointing at Dr. Adams. “I can. But I don’t. For one, it makes me feel like shit, lying’s like…whatever you all find stressful. I feel like you looked when I outed you as a wolf,” he said in Briar’s direction. “And, for two, I really don’t care enough to lie to you two. If you decide to try and get me in some sort of trouble for being fey, Briar -- I’m sorry, Professor Rackham-- is my collateral. That wolf pack in the woods has fucked up a lot more shit, at least in the eyes of cops and monster hunters, than fey have.”

“The werewolves aren’t why people are disappearing,” Briar pointed out, tone more hostile and accusing than Dr. Adams’. They seemed uncomfortable at people knowing about their wolfy secret, and that gave Achaemenes confidence.

“People have been disappearing for forever, but now that it’s the college kids everyone’s all up in arms. How do you think that cult commune thing started?” he asked rhetorically. But Dr. Adams and Briar just looked at each other, confused.

Thinking about things lately.

I'm sorry I fuck up sometimes. I'm trying to support you guys with good intentions, I don't want to be an asshole. I want a free Palestine, I want to care so much about real world problems but it's so draining and depressing that I'm genuinely not allowed by my psychiatrists and family to watch the news. I'm so tired of seeing my friends targeted for shit, simply for being queer, jewish, autistic, disabled, and more.

I've said some stupid things in my past but I'm trying to learn from my mistakes. I want my blog to be a positivity zone for writeblr and any arts and crafter. Or anyone for that matter

I know I still need to properly introduce Tali, but I won an art raffle last month on Twitter and I just got the finished art for my sweet baby girl and I need to show it to everyone. Big thanks to Clamlynn on Twitter for drawin this. I think they had a lot of fun with this because of all the refs I threw at them. (Careful NSFW Artist!)

And here we are, and yes I gave refs for the wedding clothes if anyone recognizes it lol You can also see her little ears and tail she has half transformed as hyena and yes she is a spotted hyena.
