we’re really lucky to have an actor that loves his show, his character, his love interest and his co-star so much that he literally writes fucking POETRY about it in his spare time and shares it with us. like,,,, deep inhale and take in the magnitude of this. not every actor does that, not every cast and show is like that. hashtag really fucking blessed. (also same for tyler SINGING SONGS for this show. how are they even real?)

Things I wonder, since Vlamis writes a lot of Malex poetry.
I wonder will they ever take lines from Vlamis’s poetry and write it for a Malex music piece to stick in the show?

You wouldn’t expect an actor to be the Captain of his own character’s ship, ie. writes poetry for the ship, sells ship merchandise for charity, and films himself cussing out the guy who’s on the opposite side of the new ‘love triangle’ their in with the other half of the ship (whose actor also sells ship merchandise for charity and contributes to the ship’s/show’s soundtrack).
And, yet, Michael Vlamis (and Tyler Blackburn) exist.

here I stand
Michael writes a poem to try to deal with his feelings for Alex. Maria finds it and Michael and Alex talk about their feelings.
My response to @pastelwitchling‘s prompt about Maria finding the Malex poem.
Warnings for M!luca and a sex scene (Malex, not M!luca). Also, references to that scene in 206 and my own personal take on it, but not really delving into it.
The poem mentioned in here is Michael Vlamis’s.
***
“You don’t have to talk to me, Michael, but you should talk to someone,” Max says, sitting down next to him in front of the fire pit.
“I’m fine,” Michael says, forcing the easy-go-lucky act to stay in place. He’s ruined almost everything that mattered. He can’t lose what little he has left.
“You’re not. If you don’t want to talk to me, talk to Iz. Or Maria. Or Alex.”
Michael can’t help the flinch at that last name. One of the many things in his life he’s ruined in the past couple of months just trying to avoid this oppressive weight that has settled upon him.
“If not them, try writing it. That always helps me,” Max says.
Michael can’t help but roll his eyes. Max is a complete sap and he’s certain he won’t be trying that.
He’s certain, that is, until two nights later, when he sees Alex walking out of the Crashdown with Forrest Long. When he watches Alex letting Forrest kiss him before he climbs into his SUV.
That, combined with a bottle of whiskey, gets him writing the kind of sappy poetry he imagined Max would write for Liz.
***
“Michael?” Maria calls, sticking her head into the Airstream. His truck is here, so he has to be around here somewhere.
She’s just about to turn around and look elsewhere, when she spots a sheet of paper on his counter under a pile of his clothes. The words I’m your man peek out in Michael’s messy scrawl, and she can’t resist the urge to look, tugging it free, excited at the idea that Michael really feels that way, that the relationship she was starting to question was actually worth the price she paid to get it.
But then she reads the first line and she can’t believe what a fool she’s been.
***
Alex is at his piano, working on a song, when the pounding comes on his door.
He sighs, pulling himself tiredly to his feet, making his way toward the door.
Maria is standing there, looking furious. And he gets why. He’s been avoiding both her and Michael since that awful night in the Airstream.
“How long have you been screwing my boyfriend behind my back?” Maria instantly accuses, shoving something at his chest.
He stumbles backwards, clutching onto the crumpled piece of paper. “I haven’t- I’m not-” He straightens his spine, forces himself to breathe. “I haven’t seen Michael since I left the Airstream that morning. And the only time I’ve touched him like that since I found out you were interested in him was that night. Which you initiated, if I remember correctly.” He bites back the urge to say that he didn’t want that. He tells himself there’s no point. It’s already done. He can’t afford to lose the few friends he has over it. But he does allow himself one moment of pettiness, “I’m not the one who goes after the guy my best friend is in love with, after all.”
She steps back for a moment, as if stung, but then she’s glaring right back at him. “You said you were okay with that.”
“Yeah and I lied,” Alex shoots back. He forces himself to take a deep breath and let it out slowly, “Michael told me he was interested in you. You two got together. And I dealt with it. Because I know the both of you deserve to be happy. I don’t know what you think happened between us, but I have been trying to move on. I haven’t seen him in weeks.”
“Oh,” Maria breathes out. “I found that and I thought-” she gestures at the crumpled paper that’s in his hand.
He offers it back to her, but she steps away, back to the other side of the door. “Maybe you should talk to Michael about it,” he suggests. As hurt and as angry as he is, that’s one lesson he learned far too late. And, if Maria can make Michael happy, he’ll share what he learned from all the ways he failed Michael. Because, if anyone deserves to be happy, Michael Guerin does.
She just nods and walks away. And Alex closes the door and locks it again, making his way tiredly toward his couch.
***
Michael has finally finished repairing his last car for the day and he’s sinking down into one of the chairs in front of his Airstream, beer in hand, when Maria pulls up.
He wishes he was excited to see her. He knows he should be. But he just doesn’t know if he can summon the energy to play the dutiful boyfriend right now. Not after last night. Not after seeing that confirmation that he really has lost Alex for good.
She steps out of her truck, looking as tired as he feels, walking up to him and grabbing his beer before collapsing in the chair next to his. She takes a few sips of it before looking at him. He feels like she’s seeing right through him. He doesn’t like it. There’s only ever been one person who he felt safe with that kind of vulnerability and he’s lost that for good.
“I wish you would have told me you’re still in love with Alex,” she says tiredly. “I probably lost a twenty year long friendship because of this.”
“I’ll probably always be in love with Alex,” Michael admits softly. “Doesn’t mean I want to be.”
“I found the poem you wrote for him,” her voice is little more than a whisper. She takes another swig of beer. “It’s not that you don’t want to be in love with him. You want him to let you. And you should talk to him about that.” He’s trying to find a response to that when she takes yet another swig of his beer, before standing up. “We’re over. And he has your poem, by the way.” She doesn’t look at him once, making her way back to her truck. He watches her drive away.
***
Michael stands outside of Alex’s door for a long time, trying to work up the nerve to knock. He has no idea what he’s going to say, how he expects Alex to react. After all the times they both said they were over, after he tried to move on and after Alex had started to do the same, the last thing either one of them needs is this muddying the waters back up again.
But he knows he needs to explain things to Alex. So, finally, he knocks.
He can hear Alex on the other side of the door, moving. He can hear the sound of Alex’s crutch hitting the floor and curses himself for stopping by late enough that Alex has already taken his prosthetic off.
Alex looks soft and rumpled and good, wearing nothing more than an Air Force t-shirt and a pair of boxer briefs, hair a rumpled mess.
It takes Michael a moment to remember to speak. “Maria said she left…”
“Yeah,” Alex replies easily, moving aside and opening the door all the way. “It’s over on the table,” he gestures toward a table against the far wall. Alex’s laptop is sitting on it. He can see now that Alex has a keyboard set up. And his guitar is leaning against it. Pride swells in his chest at the knowledge that, even if Alex reenlisted, he hasn’t given up his music.
“She seemed pretty mad at me,” Alex says softly as Michael walks toward the other side of the room. The paper is crumpled up, but folded, writing hidden inside. “I don’t know what you said, but she seemed to think you and I were…” Michael finally picks the paper up, eyes on it, rather than on Alex. He knows what Maria assumed.
“Don’t worry. I set her straight,” Alex tells him. “And I told her she should talk to you about it, whatever it is. And, um,” Michael looks up to see that Alex is looking down now as he speaks. “You don’t have to worry. I didn’t open it. Your secrets are safe.”
“You didn’t-”
Alex shakes his head. “You were pretty clear about your boundaries. I’m trying to respect them.”
Michael considers keeping the paper, hiding it away, continuing to pretend he could ever move on. Alex would let him. He knows that. He asked Alex to stop coming around, to stop coming back, and Alex has listened. It’s the only thing he’s ever directly asked for from Alex and Alex listened. But then he knows Alex will move on too. And he’ll be stuck in a nightmare of his own making, watching Alex be happy with Forrest or some other man, someone who won’t push him away for something easier, all while Michael is still here, unable to look away from the one person who ever made him feel like he belonged.
“You should read it,” Michael says, finally, holding out the piece of paper. “I wrote it for you.”
Alex doesn’t reach out to take it though. “You didn’t write it with the intention of showing it to me. Or you would have delivered it yourself. And broken up with Maria. If you really want me to know what you wrote, you can read it to me.”
So Michael takes a deep breath and slowly unfolds the piece of paper, looking down at it, focusing on the black ink so he doesn’t have to look at Alex and watch as his last ditch attempt fails. “A veteran move as you limp into frame,” he starts, voice shaking a bit. “Longing to be your crutch, I want to consume your pain.”
He looks up to find that Alex isn’t so much looking at him as looking through him, focusing on the words. He has those familiar creases in his brow that Michael wants to smooth over with his lips. He wants to take those worries away too.
“So I loosen my belt, a familiar feeling,” Michael continues, turning his attention back to the paper in his hands. “Ten years later and my heart’s still reeling.”
He glances up again to find Alex’s lips pursed, like he’s holding back what he wants to say, giving Michael the time to continue speaking.
“Then you show up on my porch, floating down the stream,” Michael smiles softly. “While I swim uphill, running out of steam.”
Alex’s brow is somehow more furrowed now and, not for the first time, Michael wishes he could get inside there, know exactly what Alex is thinking.
“Lies upon lies, thighs upon thighs,” Michael continues, smiling when he glances up to find Alex blushing. “Love a woman’s touch, but damn that guy.” Michael can’t help the fondness that slips into his voice when he says, “The one who lifted my heaviest sighs with ease.”
The smile and blush are gone from Alex’s face, all sadness now and he wishes he could take it away from him.
“Too much pride to beg; I’ll let my looks say please.” He takes a deep breath, braces himself, and looks directly at Alex before he finishes, “So ignore my words, this is where I stand; you’re a pretty little liar, and I’m your man.”
Alex is quiet, brow furrowed, face going through a myriad of emotions.
Michael waits in silence for what feels like an eternity before finally dropping the poem back on the table. He glances at Alex again to find Alex still isn’t looking at him. So he heads toward the door.
His hand is on the handle when Alex finally speaks, “When did you write that?”
He turns to look at Alex, whose warm eyes are finally focused on him. “Last night.”
Alex purses his lips, putting together a thought. “Do you… Are you… Why did you write it?”
“Max told me I should write out my feelings. He thought it would help. And, lately, I’ve been feeling like… Everything hurts. And I thought maybe it would be easier if I just… Went for something uncomplicated. Something that doesn’t hurt. And that didn’t help.” He pauses before continuing, “And then I saw you with Forrest and I thought… I fucked up, Alex. I didn’t want to hurt, so I pushed you away and I…”
Alex surprises him by moving closer, offering out his free hand. Michael takes it and, oh, he suddenly feels so much lighter already.
“I think I was so caught up in our pain that I forgot that loving you isn’t just pain. Being with you… It’s the safest, most understood, most accepted I’ve ever felt.” He squeezes Alex’s hand, “I miss that. And I want that back.” He pauses to clarify, “Maria and I are over, Alex. That’s done. I never should’ve…” He takes a deep breath, holding his and Alex’s hand up between them, looking Alex in the eyes, “I’m yours, if you want me.”
Alex is still for a moment. And then he’s moving and his lips are pressed against Michael’s. Michael can hear the clatter of Alex’s crutch falling, but it barely registers because Alex is in his arms, holding onto him, kissing him. And Michael finally feels that weight that’s been crushing him get lifted.
Alex pulls away enough to get air, face still mere inches away from Michael’s. “I’ve been yours since I was seventeen. No matter how much I’ve tried to fight it.”
Michael can’t stop the grin that spreads across his face.
“I’m done fighting it,” Alex says. “I want to fight my own battles. And that means fighting for us. If you’re sure you-”
“I’m sure,” Michael tells him softly, leaning in to press his lips against Alex’s again. He pulls away, remembering what spurred him to write this poem. “And Forrest?”
“We had one date, Michael,” Alex grins. “He’s nice, but it’s not exactly serious.” And then, “Would you mind handing me my crutch?”
Michael doesn’t want to let go of Alex, not now that Alex is in his arms again, so he reaches out with his powers, floating it to Alex’s hand.
He reluctantly lets go, watching as Alex makes his way to the door, fingers hesitating over the lock, “Do you want to stay?”
“I’d like that,” Michael responds quickly, watching Alex turn the lock decisively before leading Michael to the bedroom.
Alex sits on the bed, placing his crutch to the side and beckoning Michael closer. And Michael comes without hesitation, leaning into Alex’s touch, pressing his lips against Alex’s again, winding a hand around his back, sliding under the t-shirt.
He delights in the soft sighs Alex lets out against his mouth, moving closer, pressing him into the bed.
Alex is reaching under his shirt now, inching it upwards, encouraging Michael to pull away long enough to pull it over his head and toss it to the side before returning his mouth to Alex’s.
He slowly kisses along Alex’s jaw, grinding his hips against Alex, reveling in the moans that escape him.
He only stops long enough to get Alex’s shirt off, desperate to get at more skin, to taste more of him.
Alex is reaching down for his jeans, undoing them blindly, Michael’s lips against his neck. And then he feels Alex’s hand on his length and he curses.
Alex expertly flips him onto his back, warm eyes on Michael’s as he helps remove Michael’s jeans, raising an eyebrow at him when he finds he went commando. But he doesn’t say anything, just pulling them down far enough for Michael to kick them off and toss them to the side. And then, oh, Alex’s mouth is on the sensitive skin of his inner thigh, moving up, up, up.
He doesn’t know how he ever thought he could live without this man’s touch lighting him on fire.
Alex looks at him in question, as if he hasn’t already agreed to all of this.
“Please, Alex,” he says, voice rough.
Alex surprises him by moving up the bed, reaching for the bedside table. Michael reaches out to stroke Alex’s hip through his boxer briefs as Alex pulls out a bottle of lube, showing it to him with a quirked eyebrow.
Michael doesn’t bother to speak, parting his legs and lifting them, holding his knees up, baring himself for Alex.
Alex lets out a low chuckle as he moves, “So eager.”
“For you? Always,” Michael smiles down at him.
Alex’s returning smile is warm as he opens the bottle of lube and liberally coats his fingers with it.
Then Alex’s mouth is on him, swallowing him down as one finger presses against his entrance and Michael is torn in the best way, wanting both to push deeper into Alex’s mouth and press back against Alex’s hand, take everything Alex will give him.
The latter wins out and he can feel more than hear Alex’s chuckle as he pulls off of him, pressing a kiss against his hip as he teases him with one finger. He takes his time before he adds another, leaving Michael desperate and cursing, pleading with him to hurry up.
But, as usual, Alex takes his time, working him open slowly with two and then three fingers until he’s good and ready and Michael is a mess, on edge and shaking with the effort it takes to hold still.
That’s when Alex moves back up the bed, laying back and reaching out for a condom, opening it and putting it on before grabbing the lube again.
Michael simply watches the show until he’s done. And then he’s scrambling up straddling Alex, hovering above him.
Alex’s hands move to Michael’s hips and Michael grabs onto his length, delighting at how thick he is, knowing that he’ll still be feeling him in the morning. He lowers himself down, taking Alex’s cock inside of him, enjoying the slight burn as he stretches to accommodate him, stilling on top of Alex when he’s in him to the hilt.
“Doing okay, babe?” Alex asks, voice soft and concerned, even if he sounds like he’s very carefully controlling himself, holding himself still for Michael.
“Missed this,” Michael admits. He can’t explain it’s not just the sex, though he did miss that to. It’s the way Alex sees him exactly as he is and still touches him as if he’s precious. It’s the way Alex takes care of him, even when he makes it difficult. It’s the way he always feels like he’s completely himself with Alex. Even more so now that Alex knows everything.
“Me too,” Alex’s voice is soft, one of his hands reaching out and tangling with Michael’s.
That’s when Michael starts to move, slowly at first, taking his time, delighting in the way Alex reacts to each little movement of his hips, in the way he can feel Alex’s dick just brushing against his prostate.. But he can’t do that for long, not with Alex inside of him. So it’s not long before he’s moving desperately, chasing his own orgasm, nearly coming the instant Alex wraps his hand around his length, moving in time with Michael’s hips, easily bringing him right to the edge. And then he’s flying over it and he can feel Alex following him.
He curls up against Alex when he’s done, ignoring the mess they’ve made, just enjoying the way Alex pulls him close, the feeling of Alex’s hands moving up and down his spine.
“How do you feel about The Crashdown for breakfast?” Alex asks finally, sounding like he’s trying to be casual.
“You’re gonna take me out in the light of day?” Michael grins, pressing a kiss against Alex’s chest.
“I mean, I could say it’s because I don’t have much in the way of food,” Alex admits. Michael knows that, not long ago, Alex would have used that excuse. Or, more likely, not let their relationship see the light of day at all. “But, yeah, maybe I want to take you out for breakfast. If you’re okay with that.”
Michael pretends to think about it for a moment. And then, “As long as I can have pancakes.”
“You can have as many pancakes as you want,” Alex laughs. He can feel Alex kiss the crown of his head.
“Deal.” He’s silent for a long time before he says, “We should get cleaned up, huh?”
“Yeah, probably a good idea.” He can hear Alex’s smile. So he pushes up, leaning forward to press another kiss to Alex’s lips before rushing off to the bathroom.
When he’s returned, Alex has tossed the condom in the trash and the bed is neater. Alex reaches for the washcloth Michael brought with him, but doesn’t object when Michael refuses to hand it over, taking his time cleaning Alex off too, following it with kisses to his damp skin.
Once they’re both clean, Michael gets back into bed, delighting in the way Alex instantly curls up behind him, chest pressed to Michael’s back.
“What do you think about me framing that poem?” Alex asks. “Maybe displaying it in the living room?” He can hear the teasing tone in his voice and is momentarily questioning what it means, thinking about drawing away. “For everyone to see?” Alex clarifies.
That’s when Michael laughs, “Max would never let me live it down.”
“I am keeping it though,” Alex says softly. “I promise I won’t let Max find it.”
“Good,” Michael smiles, reaching back until he finds Alex’s hand and pulling until Alex’s arm is wrapped around him.
“I’m your man too, you know,” Alex’s voice is soft. “In case that wasn’t clear.”
Michael knows it’s not all fixed. He still has problems to face. The weight that was crushing him before isn’t gone. It’s just, with Alex here, he’s not alone in carrying it. He knows Alex will help him, will be by his side as he faces all of the problems he’s been avoiding. He can’t avoid them, not with Alex, but they aren’t as scary anymore. And that weight that he was trying to run from feels as light as a feather when he’s in Alex’s arms.

I feel like a lot of the malex fans exited about forlex now will change their minds when the season starts and Alex is stuck with him the entire time writing cringy poetry or something equally as boring, separated from the main plot and has no meaningful scenes with Michael (if they have scenes at all) until Forrest leaves. The first Vlamburn s3 bts pic with the caption "Finally" we got was around the time they were filming episodes 3 and 4, that's also when the actor who plays Forrest left Santa Fe. Maybe I'm wrong and it wasn't their first time filming together but I don't expect any real Malex development while that guy is still around, just more wasted screen time.
LOL wow uh I don't think we're going to be seeing Alex writing poetry with Forrest nonnie. We don't even know how much Forlex there's going to be or if they were together or not during this "gap year". From the bts vid Vlamis posted, it does look like Michael will be in at least one scene with Forrest (the "f*ck Forlex" video) so who knows, there may be some tension happening with Malex/Forlex right from the beginning.
Yeah, it's extremely hard to do a timeline with so little we have to go by and I wouldn't go off the Vlamburn pics, it's still to too tricky to determine when the pictures were actually taken (and it's a covid set, which makes things more complicated) but who knows, they may be closer to accurate to when they actually get Malex going then what I thought. I don't think Forlex is going to be that much separated, not in the way it was in season 2. It would only make sense to do that if Forrest IS a part of Deep Sky which c'mon RNM let's do this! It would just be bad TV if otherwise and I thought Carina was gone... lol

Do you have any thoughts on Carina leaving? 😊
I’ve been wracking my brain on how to answer this, and in all honesty, I’m just feeling so much right now. A tiny twinge of it is sympathy, but that’s about it.
Since day one, I’ve been trying to give CAM a chance. Credit where credit’s due, she’s had her moments. I didn’t want to hate that woman because I don’t personally know her, and hate felt like such a strong emotion to waste. After her livestream with Vlamis, I wanted so badly to love her. Because she’s a writer, and I’m a writer, and I could relate to a lot of the things she said.
But the lies got more and more blatant, the blatant dismissal of fans and our feelings and concerns became more and more insulting, and what’s (arguably) worse; the writing became sloppier and showed more and more favoritism towards a few select characters (and a few select disturbing fantasies), disregarding the rest.
As a storyteller, it is your job to take responsibility for the world and characters you create. CAM has never once done that. You can argue that she took responsibility for not casting a disabled actor to play a disabled character, but no. She has, time and time again, thrown Tyler under the bus for that. She could’ve stuck by him and his talent and love and loyalty to Alex and settled with that, but she insinuated he had not been fit enough (ironic, I know) to play the role.
She has blamed us for choices she’s made, made us out to be the bad guys, the homophobes, the biphobes, the racists, the who-knows-what-else. And for what? For having negative critique about a scene? About a storyline? About a character/characters she’s destroyed? For being traumatized or feeling abused or taken advantage of? For breaking down?
We’ve been baited time and time again, we’ve been insulted, we’ve been dismissed and disregarded, and so have the characters she promised us she would take care of.
How do I feel, anon? The truth? Relieved, but not entirely for the reasons you might think. I don’t know who’s going to be the showrunner (I don’t think Chris was even confirmed to do it, and even if he was, we can only hope for the best), and I can only pray that whoever it is be someone kind, good, and someone with an idea of a coherent storyline that doesn’t drop plots and characters as if they never mattered or existed. Someone who won’t snap at us on twitter, and treat us like morons who can’t deduce for ourselves.
But I’m relieved because, since season one, I have been lamenting more than just Malex’s potential, but Maria’s as well. Here was someone I wanted to love but absolutely loathed because of what the writing had done to her.
I’m not saying I’m a Maria fan now (there is still much to fix there), but at least I can go into season 3, hopefully, feeling like her slate’s been wiped a little cleaner.
At least I can hope for Kyle, for his friendship with Alex. At least I can hope for a cute, fair romance with forlex, for an epic return of malex! Hey! Maybe we can even get some properly jealous Michael (since CAM hates jealousy scenes but loves love triangles, because that makes sense)! I can dare hope, I can dare be positive. I couldn’t do that before, solely because of CAM.
Honestly, and from the bottom of my heart, I wish her luck with all her future endeavors. I hope she gets to be a famous poet and sell poetry books like she wants to do. But am I sad to see her go? No. I’m truly sorry it’s come to this, but I can honestly say I am not sad at all.

I don't really like vlamis saying he wants forlex to crash when we had to endure miluca during the whole season lol I know it's out of his hands these decisions but he knows we're actually rooting for forlex to last even a little, that's why he says these things
He's just being playfully jealous and I think it's because he can't come right out and say "I want malex pls" in an interview, so he says "fuck Forrest, here's some poetry" and then makes emotional grabby hands

RNM 2x10 - American Woman
EPISODE SUMMARY:
SECRETS OF THE PAST — After uncovering a cryptic message from the past, Alex (Tyler Blackburn), Isobel (Lily Cowles), Max (Nathan Dean), Michael (Michael Vlamis) and Maria (Heather Hemmens) set out in search of answers at the reservation where Alex’s mother grew up. Meanwhile, Cameron (guest star Riley Voelkel) encourages Liz (Jeanine Mason) to reach out to someone from her past after Auturo (guest star Carlos Compean) gets detained. Marcus Stokes directed the episode written by Rick Montano & Vincent Ingaro & Jason Gavin (#210). Original airdate 5/18/2020.
DETAILS:
Tripp brings Louise to the Reservation in a body bag where the Navajo doctors are able to save her life.
"Your message said that you were gonna bring two women that would be no trouble.  This looks like a lot of trouble."
"I must have gotten the codes wrong."
"No, don't give me that Manes man nonsense. Not here in my own home."
"Her name is Louise. I promised her friend Nora I'd protect them. My brother triggered an ambush before I could get them here. And Nora…"
"Wait, what does the Air Force want them for?"
"They're not from around here. They're from...up north."
"Yìiyáh. No. She can't stay here… What if your brother comes here and finds a fugitive.  I can't put my people at risk for a white woman."
"Please. You're the only person I trust. If she doesn't make it, it was all for nothing."
"I'll have you remember that I was the one that saved your ass in Okinawa. I don't owe you anything. I'm only doing this because you're my family. And because I'm a damn fool."
A few notes on this scene:
--I don't know why Tripp pretends he got the codes wrong.  Unless he's spiraling and talking about the timing of the attack.  But it seems like he means the message that he was bringing them to the reservation.  Clearly things didn't go according to plan.  Though, it is always possible that we're still missing bits of the story.
--OG Easter Egg.  "They're not from around here.  They're from up north." For anyone who didn't watch OG, this is almost exactly how the exchange went when Max told Liz he was an alien in the 1999 pilot.
--Yìiyáh - I found nothing on this word.  I'm assuming that it's a curse word or general exclamation of negativity, but literally got zero results on google. It's possible, of course, that it's misspelled in the captions.  There were a lot of errors in the captions in this opening scene.
--While there really isn't any overt statement that Alex is half Navajo and this town is part of Navajo Nation (which has been in the news a lot lately and therefore is a good place in this country to be aware of), there's lots of clues or subtle enough statements that I feel like it can be accepted as fact, since: Harrison is a codetalker, the necklace is Navajo, tsela is a Navajo word. So I did a little peeking and it could work.  The closest Navajo town is about a 4 hour drive from Roswell.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Navajo Nation:
(side note - Navajo Nation has extreme poverty but also is utterly gorgeous. And the Tribe gets income from tourism. Just a few places there that I'm dying to go? Monument Valley, Antelope Canyon, Shiprock.  Check it out.)
Liz comments on Max's irregular heartbeat, with literally no acknowledgment of the fact that she's straddling him and has a history of causing his heart to race...and other forms of lack of control (think 1x03).
"I'm excited about this though. You know Alex dug up all that info on our bio Mom. You sure you can't come?"
"Got to take my dad in for his blood tests. I want to check on Jenna too.  Cannot believe she's back in the hospital again."
"She's been in pain for weeks. I have no leads on the mysterious hunting van, and Charlie hasn't made contact."
"Hmm. To be fair, I do hear that phone service is a little spotty in flying saucers."
"Okay, I get that. You think my alien abduction theory is bogus."
"I know you're worried that this has something to do with you, but I don't think this is an alien thing."
"Cam and I had fractal burns on our necks. We had no memory of what happened. That's alien stuff. I just want clarity on something."
--Note that it's past time to abandon all hope of anything resembling a defined timeline for this show...once again we have weeks passing between episodes. This is the second time this season that the time passing has only been generically described as "weeks".  It's been at least a year since Liz came back to Roswell (per her conversation with Diego), but a year would be summer (late May or early June, specifically), and in this episode Isobel mentions that it's winter (which would be a year and a half).
Maria's pitch:
"In conclusion, esteemed members of the Roswell Tourism Board, while the Pony is normally a sanctuary for locals during CrashCon, I think that my plan to turn it into the Contact Cantina Pop-Up Bar will be a hit with alien fans."
"We're talking more money than we first speculated, aren't we now?"
"You know, Mayor Bernhardt, I forgot to tell you about our new morning cocktail… It's coffee, vanilla cream, and our best bourbon. Let me get you a double."
Note: so this is the famous Mayor Bernhardt. Funded by the Long family. Doesn't like immigrants. Had a racist relative who wouldn't give first prize to the black man.
Tumblr media
Maria's vision…
Herself, younger, sitting at the Pony bar.
"You have to let me go! You're just crazy! And I'm trapped!"
And then she runs from the bar crying.
She's not wearing the necklace.
Describing it to Michael:
"I had a vision, but it was more like a memory. Of a fight I had with my mom when I was younger."
Isobel interrupts Michael and Maria to pick them up for the road trip. Just a few relevant excepts from this scene:
"Pack your bags. We're going on a family road trip."
"Is this why Max wanted the day off?"
"In the photo of Max and Isobel's bio Mom, there was a water tower. Alex recognized that water tower from the town where his mom grew up. You should come with us."
Alex and Forrest talk in the Crashdown:
"Hope that limp isn't from a paintball injury."
"Nope. Those bruises have mostly healed. I just got a new prosthetic. Takes a minute to get used to. You working on your book?"
"I write my book on my computer.  However, I write my angsty emo poetry in an angsty emo journal."
"I'm actually working on some poetry myself. Well, song lyrics, technically. It's a lot harder than it was in high school."
"Yeah, writing was easier for me when I was a kid too. Feelings...we bury 'em now. You just got to find that thing inside of you that doesn't have a voice. Lend it yours. You know? Listen, I have like, zero musical talent, but if you need help with the worst part, we could, uh…"
"Actually I'm leaving tomorrow for a few days to go talk to some recruits."
Michael interruptus, and the conversation goes casual.
--What happened to "angsty nerd isn't really my type." Or...was it FORESHADOWING!!!?! 😂
--Oh hi there clear shot of Forrest's clearly Deep Sky logoed ring…
Tumblr media
Cam has been having debilitating migraines that have been keeping her bedridden since the abduction.
Nurse Kate is a badass. she tries to keep ICE from getting into a patient's room. Liz hears her and hurries to the waiting room, where there's more ICE activity. Liz panics and tries to get Arturo out of the hospital, but she caught the attention of the ICE officers. However, Liz knows her rights.
"He has applied for his green card. I'm his sponsor, okay? This is his G-1145 right here."
"You can show that to the court."
"It's okay. Call the lawyer."
"No. He is a diabetic. It is illegal to detain a patient."
"Exigent circumstances. Move."
"No. Hey, this is an unconstitutional arrest and the ACLU will be all over you."
"Elizabeth, we respect the law in this family. If you're in trouble, who will take care of the mouse?"
--G-1145 is a request for confirmation that your green card application has been accepted:
--The timing of this all. Liz has been prepared for this moment all her life and would fight it to the point of getting arrested herself, if not for Rosa. Rosa's safety is the only thing that convinces Liz to step aside.
--As an only semi related note, this is a really interesting contrast to how they wrote Jeanine's character out on Grey's Anatomy.
--Also feel like it would be remiss of me to not point out Liz's reactiveness and fightinf mentality is mirroring how Liz initially reacted to Max pulling her over in the pilot.
"Okay. So the Deputy on call says there's one detention center in the county. Here's the info."
"He doesn't have anything left in Mexico. No one. Nowhere to go."
"You can't think like that right now."
"I think like this always. Rosa and I used to recite our escape plan for if our parents got deported and we got separated in foster care. I begged my parents not to tell Santa where we lived because I was afraid he'd ask for papers. My whole life was built on a fear of this day coming, and it's here. If I'd have kept better track of his health, he wouldn't need these tests. I should have made him move to California. I thought we were safe being outside the hundred-mile zone, but after this election I should have known better. And I should have made him wear a sweater this morning because it's freezing out there. And what if he…?"
"...okay think. Is there someone we can call?"
"Kyle's at a conference, but I can have him call his mom."
"Do you know anyone with some real power? You know, Federal muscle?"
Cam gets dressed to take Liz to the Detention Center and Liz calls Diego for help.
The road trip group arrive at the reservation and meet Gregory Manes.  He says he remembers them all from high school.  He takes Max, Michael, and Isobel to learn about Louise while Alex and Maria go jewelry shopping.
Meanwhile Gregory is taking the Pod Squad to Louise's grave, but pauses for some flirting:
"You're still the Isobel Evans who convinced the basketball captain to pull four different fire alarms to get out of AP Gov, right? Yeah, legend. Here she is."
"Oh my God, it's covered in flowers.  It's winter."
"Rumor is they grow year-round unattended. She was a healer. I'm told she helped with trauma, addiction, that sort of thing. All without speaking."
"This another grave?"
"She was pregnant."
"Louise arrived gravely injured. And the baby didn't survive.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
--Louise died the same day the Pod Squad came out of the pods, confirming that she is probably the old woman on the reservation that was described in 1x09.
--Michael found the mysterious purple flowers growing on Louise's grave.
Tumblr media
Alex and Maria at the trading post.
"Are you okay? Seem a little off."
"I had a vision during a meeting this morning. It almost cost me a deal that could save the bar. Maybe I should just wear the necklace. Go back to being a social media guru. Slash barkeep. Slash magical trope in our redneck mayor's fantasy."
"So why did you really come today? Your ideal day off isn't fighting for the radio silence with Isobel Evans, so…"
"This is the back of my necklace. The word stamped in the silver says Tsela. The necklace is Navajo, so I thought maybe that was the jeweler, but no one I've asked here seems to know who made it. I just want answers."
"Well, there's a ton of silver jewelry for sale here. So why don't we just keep looking for something with the same stamp?"
Tumblr media
Pod Squad sharing a bottle of acetone by Louise's grave.
"Noah said our planet was war-torn. But the hell they found here can't have been worth it."
"Do you think that Louise's baby died from her injuries or do you think maybe it was never going to survive?"
"What are you talking about?"
"I was pregnant. When you died. Obviously I'm not anymore. I just can't help wondering if that was my last chance. Assuming that humans and aliens can't procreate because they're different species. Maybe that little baby wasn't viable."
"You almost died during the abortion, didn't you? I could feel it. Noah almost killed you again, huh? Oh, I need a minute."
After Max leaves Michael offers to be a sperm donor for Isobel if she ever wants to have a kid.
Liz at the Detainment Center
"It's Ortecho. Arturo Ortecho. He's my dad. And he needs gliclazide and beta-blockers. I brought both."
"We can't take contraband here, but there is an infirmary on-site, if he's here."
"You know, out of curiosity, did Nebane Abienwi visit an infirmary before he died of a brain bleed in your custody? What about Johana Medina León? She was 25 years old, okay? People walk through those doors and they die...Who's your supervisor? You need prior approval before conducting enforcement in a hospital. There was a compliance memo."
"Right, a memo, which is just like a law only not. Unless you calm down, I'm gonna arrest you for obstruction."
"Okay, Liz, maybe sit down.  Sir, I'm Deputy Jenna Cameron, and we appreciate your interpretation of your guidelines, but we have an urgent health concern about an inmate here, if you just wouldn't mind checking the system."
Jenna goes with the agent…when she returns...
"Do you have a court case next week for a vandalism charge?"
"What? Yes, but I didn't do it. I'm just gonna plead guilty and pay the fine. It's nothing."
"They denied your dad's green card application because of a misdemeanor on your record. You can't be his sponsor."
Jenna's headaches overtake her. Meanwhile, the ICE agent comes back with news:
"Here just came up. Ortecho is being transferred to El Paso for his deportation hearing. You can see him there around Tuesday."
--Liz's misdemeanor is taking the fall for Rosa's vandalism from when she was arrested by Sheriff Valenti in 2x02.
Gregory takes the Pod Squad to see Harrison who is on his death bed.  Manes boys are always welcome here, the woman tells them. Harrison is the only one Louise ever spoke to on the reservation.
"He met my great uncle Tripp Manes fighting in WWII.  Harry was a code talker."
Michael gets Gregory to leave with him so that Max and Isobel can go inside of Harrison's head. Their conversation:
"You look like her."
"Harrison.  You look different."
"That was a lesson I learned from Louise. How to take your mind to a better time when you're in pain. Come on. I haven't seen the sky in a while. I'll tell you about her...I taught Tripp the codes in the Pacific. That's how we set up the rescue. He was supposed to snuggle Louise and Nora here, but the plan fell apart."
In the past between Harrison and Tripp:
"You've changed. The man I met on that ship obeyed orders."
"Guess I saw what happens when good men fall in line with bad orders. I'm a Christian, Harry. When evil itself tells me to kill a woman with child, I disobey. Even if the evil looks just like my brother."
A nurse rolls Louise into the room in a wheelchair.
"Did you find a family for her?"
"There should be music where you take her. I think she's a dancer."
"You can give her a house full of music, Louise. Nora wanted me to protect you so that you could protect the child."
"No. He's coming for me and I can't even move. No. When the devil comes, I won't be able to fight for her. Please. It is hard to be a woman on your planet.  It's only gonna be harder still for her. Roy Bronson believed in meeting hatred with compassion. And I want her to be like him. A light in the darkness. A little star on the ground. I want that for both my girls."
"Where did he take the baby?"
"Can't say."
"No. Tell us where our sister went."
"She isn't your sister. Louise rarely spoke, but when she did, she spoke of two daughters. Two stars on the ground. She had no sons. You aren't hers. You came from something else...She lived for decades longer than she should have, trapped inside of a body that could no longer dance, waiting for a sign that you would be all right. She loved you."
Jenna wakes up back at the hospital.
"I asked them to run a new test. Your headaches are spinal headaches. Because there was a hole torn into your spinal cord."
"I'm sorry, what? My kidnappers gave me a spinal tap?"
"Do you mind signing off so I can look at your tox screen?"
"Yeah, of course, but, Liz, you don't have to do this, okay? Your dad, and…"
"I need a distraction. I can't leave for El Paso until tomorrow, and they're not letting him have visitors other than his lawyer until Tuesday, so...thank you for being here. You used your privilege to help me. I'm furious that I needed it, but I needed it."
--Reposado is a type of tequila
--Spinal Headaches:
Isobel and Max on what they learned from Harrison:
"You've always been different than me and Michael, okay? Always. You were the leader. From the start. I mean, you're the special one. You're the healer."
"I was. Now I can't even sneeze without my heart skipping a beat. All my life, no matter how weird things got, I never felt alone. Because I was your twin. Maybe I'm different. Maybe I'm a freak...I can't stop thinking about being chained up when I was a kid. It didn't feel like someone bad chained me up. It felt like I was the someone bad."
"Max, you're not dangerous."
"Saving people destroys me. But killing Noah? That felt good. I was high. And whenever I think about what he did to you, I want to chase that high. I wish I could kill him a thousand times. Louise mentioned the devil. Maybe something evil was chasing them. And maybe that something was me."
"Okay. I want to show you something. You see this hand on her shoulder there? See, Michael thought it was just someone who got cropped out of the photo, but no. Any female would recognize that body language. She does not want that hand on her. Louise said the devil would come. I think something evil was after them, but it wasn't you. I want to find out who it was."
Alex and Gregory:
"Hey, I just wanted to say thank you before we go. I also feel like I should congratulate you on getting out."
"Of the Navy?"
"Of the family. Getting out from under Dad."
"You got to break free of him, man."
"Do you feel free?"
"I don't think I get to be free until you are, Alex. You know, you're my brother. I wish that I would've stood up for you more."
"You know, I think he's actually getting a little bit better. It's like the stroke melted away the psycho in his brain or something."
"If you can forgive him you should. Cast off the stone. Let me hate him for you. I owe you that much."
Back at the trading post with the whole road trip group.
"We scoured the store for jewelry that said Tsela on it, but nada. Although I did manage to spend an entire week's worth of tips anyway."
"Tsela?"
"Yeah it was printed on the back of my grandmother's necklace. I thought I might find some answers here."
"Well, apparently, it is Navajo for star on the ground. So, you guys ready to go?"
"Star on the ground.  Maria? What year was your grandmother born?"
"Uh, '48, I think?"
"Was she adopted?"
"Yeah. Oh my God."
"Your grandmother was my sister."
Note: The direct translation of Tsela is stars lying down. Interestingly, it's often a name in Navajo. When I googled it, the top results were names for Navajo boys.
Diego and Liz's conversation:
"Diego, I never would have reached out if it weren't an emergency. Thank your mom for me."
"The Senator was more than happy to call in a favor. She's always liked you."
"I like her too. We need more people like her."
"Look, we got lucky your dad got out at all, much less without an ankle monitor. And you pissed a few people off back there, so it's not likely that this is the end for you. Who's your lawyer? Or should I make some calls?"
"No, you've done enough. After what I did, I can't even believe you listened to my voicemail...How did you get here so fast?"
"I was at the airport in Phoenix when you called. Just had to reroute real fast."
"And how have you been?"
"Well, my fiancée left me. I'm kidding. No, I'm seeing someone.  It's getting pretty serious, so…"
"Good. Me too."
"Good. We can be friends...And don't take this the wrong way. Please tell me you're not wasting that incredible brain of yours writing alien hamburger puns."
"I am working on a few projects. Nothing I can talk about, but, I'm not wasting anything."
"Well, all the coolest studies make you sign NDAs anyway, so…"
"You know what? There actually is something...Do you know what butyricol is?  Worth a shot. It's this chemical I found in my friend's tox screen. I had never heard of it."
"Maybe you're slacking, Ortecho."
"I am sorry, it has only been a year. Did you literally forget everything about me?"
Note: I'm very pleased to say that when I googled butyricol, half of the top results were RNM related.  Definitely not a real drug.
Malex fight in the bunker:
"We're closed!"
"Hey, that alien console piece that Jim Valenti left me...You still have it?"
"No. I sold it on eBay."
"You didn't attach it to your console."
"I tried. Doesn't fit."
"So, Tripp left this for my dad before he died. My dad thought it was a code, but this is a reference sketch of this exact piece. My dad's been looking for this thing for 30 years and Jim Valenti had it all along...I'm gonna give it to him. I want to see what he does with it once he's got it. Look, if it didn't fit in your console, then it fits somewhere else. My dad could lead us there.""Your dad hunts aliens, Alex. He'll lead my family right off a cliff."
"I've protected you so far. That's not changing. Besides, he's different these days...I don't trust him, Guerin. I just…I'm asking you to trust me.""When we were kids, you believed people were good, despite humanity doing everything to prove you otherwise. And, God, I loved you for it. But what was charming when we were 17, it's just stupid now. How do you not see that? You believe there's some good in your father?"
"Yeah. Yeah I do. God forbid I have faith in people who don't give me a good reason to."
"That's not fair."
"No? Why is your hand covered? You miss your injury because you want to hurt. Your anger made you feel safe. I will always hate my father for what he did to you, but I don't want to live in that toolshed for the rest of my life. I don't want to walk around thinking that people don't change, that one day everyone's just gonna let me down, 'cause I am not building a damn rocket ship in a hidden lair. There's one way for me off this planet. And I need to believe in a reason to stay. I promise I'll keep you safe."
"Can't let you leave with that."
"What are you gonna do? Fight me for it?"
And then Alex leaves and is kidnapped. Hit over the head by an unknown assailant. The note from Tripp blows away.
Max and Liz are talking back at Max's house while Max drinks a lot of bourbon.
"You know, you never told me why your parents immigrated here in the first place."
"My dad wanted a family, but not in Juárez. There was no opportunity, no money. Women were disappearing there all the time. He didn't want my mom to be one of them. So he fled. You're wondering why your family came here."
"If I even had a family. I know so little about my own story. And the parts I thought I understood are just unraveling."
"Max. Family is the one area where I am certain that biology does not matter. Look, when I found out that Rosa was only my half sister that didn't change anything."
"This is different...There are only three of us on this planet, as far as we know. I mean, feeling disconnected from them makes me feel completely alone."
"Completely alone? I'm right here."
"When you needed a rescue today your Mensa society, old money son of a senator ex was there to answer your prayers. I couldn't even answer a call. You didn't need me."
"Oh my God. Okay, so would you prefer that I did need you? Would you prefer to come home to find me crying into my dad's windbreaker so that you can swoop me up and drive me to El Paso for his deportation hearing in the morning?"
"That's not fair. You wanted me to talk about today."
"Yes, okay. I'm sorry. I want you to feel better."
"Well, you think maybe you could go back in time and not meet someone as handsome as Diego? Seriously. He's like if someone mixed a cologne ad with a Kennedy. It's ridiculous. I will never feel adequate again."
"You're wrong. Max, let me be clear. You are objectively better in bed...And I never woke up on a Sunday morning to him singing Hank Williams in the shower...He never snuck unreasonable tips into my dad's checks. Or quoted Henry the Fourth. Coming home to you at the end of my worst days and my best days is the only rescue I need."
I actually found this background on the Ortechos to be fascinating.  In case you don't know Juárez is a pretty big city directly opposite the border from El Paso. It does have some huge crime issues. But it also is one of those border cities where the border is a little thinner. Like San Diego and Tijuana.  People live in Juárez and work in El Paso and vice versa.
If you want to see a really dark & gritty portrayal of Juárez, I'd highly recommend you to check out the American version of the show The Bridge.  Which literally deals with an investigation related to disappearing women.
Isobel and Maria at the Pony:
"She looks so determined."
"Yeah, neither of us would be here if she hadn't been. You know she was paralyzed 50 years and she still managed to use her powers to help ease troubled minds. You know how hard that is? To take on someone else's suffering? I mean, it doesn't just disappear. She would have been carrying all of that."
"She suffered so much loss."
"I don't know how to be worth it."
Michael on the bracelet.
"The beads are made with pollen from the alien flower. I found another plant growing at Louise's grave. Okay my working theory is that they grow from alien remains. There's this UFO lore about that Libyan desert where the flowers have been discovered before. You don't have to wear it if you don't want to. I know better than to think I can save Maria DeLuca. I hope you decide you can save yourself."
Max is still drinking after Liz went to bed.  At 4:04am Diego calls and wakes her up.
"I made a call, about that toxin in your friend's system. Butyricol. It's a drug. It's a memory eraser. It was developed by a private organization and purchased by the military for weaponization. There's no approved application outside of violent combat."
Liz tries to call Alex, but he's too busy being unconscious in the back of his SUV.  So his kidnapper pockets his phone.
Max has a memory flash. There's fighting, weapons clashing, a woman's voice...all while he's chained down in the cave. Louise appears and kneels down to touch his shoulder.  He looks afraid, but she's trying to comfort him (even though she has blood splattered all over her white clothes). She smiles and nods and then cuts Max free of the chains with her alien weapon. She offers him her hand, but before he can take it a figure in white appears and he and Louise fight. Max cries out and hides his face.
Present day Max is visibly shook by the flash.

Thoughts on RNM 2x10
Well it's Tuesday again. Time to get into the latest episode. A lot happened. I feel like we've gotten past the filler episodes. Hopefully we'll continue to move the plot along and get some answers to the many plots that have unfolded in such a short time. Let's dive in shall we.
Things I liked:
1. I really liked Harrison. I love that he was a code talker. It was a nice nod to the time period.
2. The they're from up north reference was hilarious. (It's an OG Roswell reference.) I swear Jason Behr had the same look on his face when he said that line all those years ago.
3. Isobel Evans cock blocker. I love her. Poor Max and Michael.
4. Forrest and Alex had an interesting exchange. I'm fully on the Forrest is bad train. Everything he does to entice Alex seems so calculated. From his look to writing poetry in his journal. He's everything Alex wanted to be when he grew up. (Kinda like dream chick was to Rosa now that I think about it.) But I do think he likes Alex. I don't think Michael was the only jealous one.
5. Speaking of which, I think we got the perfect amount of jealousy with Michael. He knows he has no right to be jealous. That's why he just gave them looks with those Vlamis puppy dog eyes. I know I said I wanted drama, but I think they played it right.
6. Another great OG Roswell shout out was the is Isobel your girlfriend question. That was always so creepy and wrong back in the day.
7. I really love the friendship between Liz and Cam.
8. I like Gregory. I say we keep him. So glad he doesn't appear to be a typical Manes man. Also. I am already shipping him and Isobel. (Let's be honest, I ship her with almost everyone.)
9. Michael wants a family. (sob) Isobel would make an awesome surrogate for him and Alex. Just saying.
10. I just loved that we got some serious quality Michael/Isobel time! Also, can we never say baby gravy again.
11. So we finally got an "issue of the week" that wasn't out of left field. We've been waiting for some immigration drama for a while now. Poor Arturo!
12. "Alex or Maria?" Yeah, you can stay Gregory. You can stay.
13. So Max isn't Louise's son. I'm still thinking Max is some kind of weapon.
14. OMG! That hug was so beautiful! If Gregory turns out to be secretly evil, I'm gonna lose my shit!
15. Diego is hot! And tall. Can't wait till Kyle meets him.
16. I am so shocked that Maria's grandmother is Isobel's sister. Said no one ever. Guess Maribel's out. I like that they still were antagonistic towards each other.
17. And now to the Malexness of it all. I liked the fight. Alex finally stood up for himself. I mean we're never going to get him saying anything about Milca, but he called Michael out on never giving him a reason to believe in him. It needed to be said. And Michael finally said that he loved him . Still past tense, but he said the words. And Alex was so correct when he talked about why Michael won't unwrap his hand. It's like Arizona told him in Texas, he has to reopen the wound for it to heal . And Michael's tear at the end. Come on! Stop drowning me in Guerin's tears Carina!
18. The memory erasing drug is interesting.
19. They continue to kill it with the music on this show. We've had Radiohead, The Pixies, and now Smashing Pumpkins! My little Gen X heart is full to bursting.
Things I didn't like:
1. Miluca. I didn't need to see that. Put your clothes back on please and thank you.
2. Did she actually say "That's my boy" after giving him stink eye for saying "That's my girl" a couple of episodes ago? I really hate Miluca.
3. I love how passionate Liz is, but did you have to act so suspicious at the hospital? No wonder dude asked to see your documents.
4. I guess we're going to just ignore "the scene" and Alex and Maria are going to be bff's no matter what. Puke.
5. Why is everything, including Isobel's abortion and Arturo's detainment, all about Max. He is so selfish. White male privilege anyone?
6. I'm torn about Maribel never happening. On the one hand, Isobel deserves someone much better than Maria. On the other hand, they have 10x more chemistry than Miluca.
7. Explain to me how Maria doesn't have alien DNA. That's a pretty big plothole.
Random thoughts and speculations:
What was Maria's vision about? Stop giving me crumbs people!
Did Harrison understand that up north meant outer space? Honestly, it would have been funny if he'd said Canada first.
Forrest totally saw his opportunity to nab Alex when he said he was going out of town for a few days.
So I'm guessing the fourth brother is a marine.
Wonder what the piece fits if it's not part of Michael's ship.
I think the stowaway Noah talked about is who Louise was afraid of. He was probably who had his hand on Nora's shoulder. I also think it's going to be someone we know or will get to know. I also think they might have been influencing Harlan all those years ago making him be extra afraid of the aliens.
I also wonder which side Nora and Louise were on during the civil war. Were they a part of the ruling government or were they part of th he rebellion.
Oh Michael's gonna lose his shit next episode. Cannot freaking wait to see him have to face the possibility if a world without Alex.
Well that's all I've got for this week. Sorry for the long post. My laptop is still giving me grief and my phone doesn't let me do under the cut. Hopefully it gets fixed before the next episode. Fortunately we have an extra week. I hope everyone has a wonderful holiday weekend. Stay safe my lovelies! Till next time.

I love Vlamis Malex poems.
They’re truly sweet. I think most poetry in general is pretty cringe but I appreciate them nonetheless.

[ Michael Vlamis, male, he/him/his ] — If you’re strolling Derry today, you might see [River Goebel] along the way! The [ twenty seven ] year old has been in Derry for [their entire life ] and can usually be found at [ Derry High School as a history teacher], when they aren’t busy with [calling their mom or acting like a fuckboy]. I hear they seem to be [ charming and earnest ], but they are also rumored to be [sassy and overzealous ]. I’m sure they’d never admit it, but they’re terrified of [heights/falling] — [ OOC: Anna, 22, EST,she/her/hers ]
Name: River Josiah Goebel
Age: 27
Birthday: March 27
Height: 5′11″
History: River has always been a bit out of place and a bit of a walking contradiction. Growing up he never fit into one clique or another, finding that he got along with the jocks just as much as the nerds and the arts kids just as much as the rich kids. But in all of those groups he wasn’t ‘all in’. Something always set him apart from the others in some way, leaving him on the fringe of all kinds of cliques. While this may have provided some middle and high school trauma for him growing up and wishing to fit in, it ended up proving incredibly positive for him, as he found that he had no choice but to be himself and forget about fitting in anywhere else. This caused River to become very independent and confident in who he is. No one would have guessed the loudmouthed lacrosse player would also have a secret love of poetry, or that the partying frat boy in college, actually aspired to mold the future generation of the world by teaching them about the past. As he’s grown up, River has learned to love the fact that no one can quite figure him out. He likes keeping people on their toes. And while it may mean that it’s difficult for him to get people that are close to him and can stand the whirlwind that he is, it means that those that do get close are really there for the long haul and love him for who he is, and he finds that incredible valuable.
River had always been a history nerd, and by the time he graduated high school he knew exactly what he wanted to do. He wanted to spread the love of history and the lessons it could teach people to others. So he decided he wanted to become a history teacher. He left Derry briefly to go to college at Villanova University on heavy scholarships where he double majored in history and secondary education, along with garnering quite the name for himself as a frat-party star, including being president of the Sigma Chi fraternity not one year, but two. However, he took the partying a bit too far one night, being incredibly intoxicated and climbing to the roof of the frat house building. In his raging, he thought he was on top of the world, even though he was only on top of three stories. Dared by one of his brothers, he decided to jump off of the side of the building in an attempt to land on top of a car parked nearby. But they had greatly misjudged the distance between the house and the street and, instead, River went tumbling onto the front lawn. The incident left him severely injured and could have cost him not only his degree, but his life. Luckily, he managed to survive the incident with only a concussion and a handfull of broken bones and torn ligaments that all healed with time, though he still gets occasional aches and pains from the six year old injuries. It also left him with a decent bit of trauma. It took several years before he would even think of consuming any kind of alcohol or drug again, and he has grown very afraid of heights and falling, even fairly moderate heights making him uncomfortable. It didn’t take away his partying spirit, though. And while there is rarely intoxicants or stupid stunts involved these days, River still holds the reputation of the eternal frat boy, and he doesn’t mind. Those who need to know there is an incredibly gentle and intelligent soul beneath all of that already know. He figures he could be known for worse.

RNM Sex & Candy Rewatch Thoughts
So, I kind of just typed while I watched. I tried to make it short, but I express better with words if I just write.
Isobel is a fking badass. Max really was holding in a lot of darkness. Hm. Relatable.
Forrest and Buffy!! The look on Alex’s face, letting himself be vulnerable. Mimi’s sight coming true.
Echo trying to become Echo again. The whole horse back riding date was everything they should have had the last time around. I am so glad that Liz told him about Diego, no secrets. Whiskey. Yas.
Alex being a snack in that jacket and tshirt. The Vampire Diaries nod. David Anders is so fking good andTravis is all the creepiness in one body. This guy is going to turn us into skin suits.” and of course Maria wants to split up.
KYLE IN A GAY BAR. Oh how I wish for more Kylex. I first, a tiny bit of me hoped among all my hopes, hoped that yas bi sexual Kyle. Alas, nope, Kylex shall stay a bromance.
Max talking about how he killed the drifter because he attacked Isobel on their camping trip. Noooo Liz, don’t let go. Oh honey, you are not the worst thing that’s ever happen to him. Cat tears= one.
Back to skin suit Alex and creepy Travis. Really? Tiffany? I Think We’re Alone Now? I’ll never hear that song the same again. They fight, he swings, Alex ducks and then BAM he’s stabbed and they cut to Maria. This is why he didn’t want to split up Maria! She goes for the ax and this is why i think she should hang around with Isobel more, she would definitely been able to get that ax out. Also, Marobel.
Kyle and Isobel dancing is the sweetest thing. Until it turns into sexy time and then it’s just really hot. Will Kyle do it? We all know he won’t. He really does like that doctor. I am curious to see where that goes hopefully next episode. But with the way they have been bouncing around, who knows.
Max remembers! I can’t believe he kept the bullet that Wyatt shot her with. I thought they might have just let that amnesia storyline stretch out a bit like a soap opera, but I’m glad they didn’t.
I’m so glad that Michael listened, or didn’t shoot fast enough. That night would have turned out very differently. Also, Alex doesn’t have to be told twice about leaving, but Maria is hell bent on finding out where her Mother was for three weeks. I don’t want to hear anyone tell me she’s not passionate and caring when it comes to the people she loves.
I love the scene when Max remembers Liz. God, those two have so much expression and chemistry. The tears in both of their eyes as Max tells her why he didn’t like the little green man shake. Fk me up again. Cat tears = 2. Sexy timeeeee up on the roof of the crashdown. Hell yeah Liz!
“It’s going to sting”:”I know” Fk me up Malex. That scene man. The love. They all love each other in one way or another. They had just been through trauma and they wanted to be close to each other to make sure that everyone was safe, like Maria said. The look on Alex’s face, he didn’t want to go home alone after that. The look down to Maria’s lips, oh they both knew what he really wanted. The look on Alex’s face when he leans over to readjust their positions. Fk yas. The tiger Alex fking Manes. Fk me up again!
The morning after they spoke about going too far and feelings that had already been talked about, but something about this time feels final. They both know that it was a one and done, and in a way it was a last time for Malex for a bit. Michael really wants to try things with Maria, now that she knows about the whole alien thing. Alex deserves someone that he doesn’t have trauma and pain and the fear that his Dad will fk it up. Man oh Man the look he gives Forrest, the way he looks when Forrest recites his poetry. Fking me up again. I am so excited for Forlex and to see more growth between Malex.
A petty part of me is living for all the Jealous!Michael tidbits I’m hearing from Vlamis. I can’t wait to see!!
I’m so glad to see Max and Isobel together again.
What the fk is up with that scene at the end?
Until next week,
xoxo Cat
