ablughblugh i love writing william because like. the guy. the middle aged father. look out there is a man and he feels entitled to your money and your youth and your life! he feels entitled to your ideas! he feels entitled to your blood! it is 24/7 about Him and His Needs! he's daddy seated at the head of the table isn't he? who decides what's right and wrong? father decides! father always decides. and do you always do what father says? of course. you cannot comprehend how sincerely he believes that the world revolves around him. that he deserves every indulgence, every comfort, and all of your understanding. and shockingly not even in a patronising mustache-twisting way! he's not rubbing his hands together and scheming! he's not actively thinking about all the ways he could take advantage of his social position to satiate himself! it's passive. it's a background belief. his customers matter less than him. his friends matter less than him. his kids matter less than him. you matter less than him. he doesn't give gifts telling himself that the receiver needs to lick his boots but he sure freaks out when they don't fall over themselves thanking him! it's not willful evil. it's not smart. it is a lack of emotional regulation stemming from the core foundation that the culture has built in him. and that's reinforced every time he gets away with something ugly. yeah he killed his friend's daughter. he was stressed okay? he's under a lot of pressure. you don't know how hard he works. and he contributes so much to the community. and he had to drink to relieve the strain. and the alcohol made him do it. so really he's the victim here. of life. and not the girl he hit with his car or beat to death in a back alley. it was her fault actually for being in his fucking vicinity when he was trying to cope with his feelings! the eleven year old did this not him.

2. A headcanon you weren't sure about at first but have come to like! Ok this is hard to answer because I forget what's canon and what's intricately-woven-into-my-brain headcanon but I'll say the "Kariya was an Angel" theory! I never disliked it, but I never liked it more than the simpler explanation of "Oh he's just been around the block a couple of times, that's why he knows more than the average Reaper but still couldn't pick out Joshua as the Composer-that stuff's above his paygrade." Even now it's not "canon to me" level of headcanon, but I can see the appeal and really I appreciate anything that inspires people to look a littler closer at characters like Kariya or Uzuki. Also it's really good when played for comedy. His ass is showing up at the Angel convention, stealing as many appetizers as he can, and bouncing before anyone can point out that he got fired 30 years ago for skipping meetings to go play Tin Pin with random Wall Reapers.

3. A character that fandom has helped you appreciate It's too easy to say Coco so Beat! It's embarrassing to admit but I kinda had a bone to pick with him when I was first getting into the series for sorta "replacing Sho" in neo. I didn't think he was as interesting (and to be fair he really isn't in neo until you take his relation to Rindo's arc into consideration; he works wonderfully as a back for Rindo to hide behind even if his own story was very much concluded by the end of the first game. Then there's also his dynamic with Neku, which is very very good, but he didn't need to be a player character for that. Anyways). Beat analysis posting made me actually pay attention to him while replaying the games and realize how much I'd missed skimming over him in W2 (the poor guy's really gotta try to compete with fan darling Joshua and Sho, aka the loudest fucking man alive, for screen time). His stint as a Reaper is incredibly fascinating. I forget who, but I always distinctly remember someone talking about Beat getting prepped to try and deaden his heart and become as brutal and merciless as a Reaper is supposed to be before ultimately choosing kindness in both his siding with Neku and sparing Kariya and Uzuki in W3 and man.....yeah. He's just such a good guy. He's easily in the top 10 favs now, if not the top 5

And kind of? The two fics share similar headcanons and backstories for the characters, but some of the events are different.

For example, in Encore, Magnus found out why/how Charles left his law career well after the fact and in W3 he's going to find out right away. I think Magnus and Charles' relationship was more casual leading up to the formation of the band. But Magnus coming back after dying caused him to be in his feelings more.

So it's not really a separate universe, but it's kinda like this

hmm thinking i might add canon characters to my muse list too idk.... mainly cuz of rereading the series + the next gen update for w3 coming out soon.

like can someone pls give me my dream headcanon plots of either:

a plot revolving the future of skellige ??? (either of the an craites as the ruler) and the potential turmoil that surrounds whether or not there will be a civil war between the clans of the isles or how members of the clans try to undermine the new ruler through politics or combat ??????

omg not the mention a plot involving the scoia'tael (which include all non-humans not just elves !!) and how they manage to keep the fight alive even through the warring northern kingdoms with nilfgaard (witcher 3 cut content with iorveth) ???

speaking of cut content ... a plot that includes the search for a cure to the catriona plague (involving keira, lambert, geralt, ciri, shani ????).

DISCLAIMER: My version of Shani is based off the W.itcher 3 game. I have read her background in the books and other games and may potentially touch base on those other areas when writing threads, but for the most part, she is W3 heavily based. She can be placed within N.etflix's world as well, just message me about it first.

BIOGRAPHY ( TW: mention of the body and medical operation but no details )

Not much is known about Shani’s childhood, but she graduated from Oxenfurt Academy in Medicine. While Shani learned many things in university like how various organs and parts of the body work, and how to properly operate on someone for different ailments, she specialized in medicine specifically, finding that particular field most intriguing. After graduating, Shani has done her fair share of traveling and helping those in need of medical assistance. Due to the dangers of traveling by one’s self though, a fairly sized dagger given to her by a friend is kept on her person, just in case. Shani isn’t too well versed in combat, but knows different areas of the body to poke at in case she needs to defend herself properly. Pressure points work for even closer combat, though she’d rather not get that close if she can help it. Shani lived in Vizima with her Grandma for some years before traveling back to Oxenfurt, and has since set up her own practice there. It wasn’t easy stocking the place up to the brim with various herbs, powders, medical equipment and test subjects (mostly rats she was able to find within the city), but after a few months, she was in business and business continues to thrive for the medic. She enjoys visits from her university friend Jaskier, dabbles in alchemy when working on new medicines and is a major plant mom.  On days when she’s not helping the sick, Shani enjoys the outdoors and keeping a log of various kinds of plants within the different areas she visits when out for a stroll. In a sense, she’s also a budding botanist. She will frequently have lunch with a friend or two, or delight in a party if asked to join. If she’s not out enjoying the outdoors, she’s baking something sweet her Grandma taught her, for a little taste of home.

since i'm adding my william to my multi i wanted to say that i'm pro-wilry but specifically in a way where william was closeted obsessed with him and henry was oblivious and thought they were boybesties until much, much later. engaged in the horror of finding out that not only was the guy who murdered my beloved daughter and trapped her in arcade hell my close good friend, but he has notebooks filled with lustful ramblings about my middle aged midwestern penis. like idk i'd go berserk. i'd completely lose my shit. simulator state of mind perfectly understandable. your frothing confession is overshadowed by the fact that you crushed my child with your flying purple porsche. henry being the picture of 80s suburban 'it's not my business!' complacency via not wanting to cause a scene resulting in the death of his daughter, coupled with 'i thought he was just european' is really good to me. william had his hey arnold style bubblegum shrine and henry was like we should take our kids bowling together :] while william ate his fucking hands in repressed agony. all this to say him never hitting is essential. by charlie's ghost i'll tear your peepee asunder.

lora notes.

a direct company response to 'why is circus baby's so disjointed' and 'why is there a busty human woman in the furry lineup'.

lora is a swan animatronic. she's anthropomorphic like the rest of the cast, and has wings instead of hands.

her character type is still very 'haughty prima ballerina', but now it has a swan queen angle to it. instead of minireenas, she's followed around by loralings / cygnets / her swantourage.

since the funtimes have always been a bit chaotic, she's supposed to reel them in. the circus baby group gets redesigned as, well, a circus, with announcer foxy, magician freddy, dancer lora, and ringleader / group face lion cub baby, also styled as 'c.c.' or 'circus cub'. lora, despite being self-absorbed, wants the group to succeed -- but her ego can also get in the way, resulting in shenanigans.

her voice box is broken. she sounds like an autotuned bambi. a very nasal vocaloid.

she gets put on merch with chica a lot. there is an 'ugly duckling' line of plushes and shirts, and there was a time when little girls were pushed to 'grow' from loving chica to loving lora before the company realised that it didn't work, and they were better off simultaneously milking both.

she eventually develops a desire to be human. she's so humanoid already, despite her wings, and she's supposed to be adored by her audience -- what better way to earn their eternal love than to become one of them? she wants a heart. she wants flesh. she wants to be a real girl. she's very little mermaid / toy story / princess tutu / swan lake.

( with @funbonded specifically, she would not be above taking a look at his victims to get a better idea of what goes 'into' being a human, in the most literal sense. you've heard of crawling inside of skin suits now get ready for putting organs in the robot. )

Yaaay I was hoping someone would say Konishi!!

1. What do you like or dislike about this character? I didn't really think much about Konishi for the longest time, but then one day I wrote her pretty much by chance and developed a fondness for her from there :] I like how almost every scene she has leading up to W3 is her going "Yes sir of course sir right away sir" whenever Megumi makes some weird out-of-pocket remark or request and then turning around and thinking to herself "Wow this is a sinking ship if I ever saw one. Thank god I'm the smartest one here and will surely make it out of this alive." I like how she acts like a perfectly loyal, professional underling on the outside while on the inside she's always trying to work out a loophole to exploit if things go well and an escape route if they don't. She's very Quintessential Reaper that way, acting on ambition and ambivalence rather than outright malice towards her coworkers (at least how I see it. I don't think she particularly minded working for Megumi or had any desire to see him fail, she just worked out that it was the most likely outcome and sought to benefit from what was probably already a foregone conclusion).

Really I think the only thing I don't like about her is her Noise form.

It's cool, but it could have been done better. It's a bit too anthropomorphic, which irks me when her male counterparts all have very distinctly animal bodies in their Noise forms

But nooo she's gotta have the cleavage and the six inch waist :/ She looks more like a circus performer than a monster, which I wouldn't even mind if that was the theme, but it's not, and the more I look at her side-by-side with the others the stranger it gets. Oh well. All that said I do like how she reclines with a bored/annoyed look on her face and her claw up like she's taunting Beat and Neku.

12. What's a headcanon you have for this character? She's actually closer to Megumi in age than Uzuki, Sho, or Kariya. She died in her mid-to-late-20s under a lot of pressure to find a husband and have kids, something she adamantly didn't want. She's incredibly pissed that she now has to spend her afterlife wrangling three of the world's shittiest teenagers.

(Uzuki's the one she tolerates the most. She sees something of herself in her. Kariya she can't get a read on and it unsettles her, especially since he's been around even longer than she or Megumi have. She cannot STAND Sho. Had she survived the fight against Beat and Neku she would've thrown him under the bus the moment she got the chance.)

Also, I like to think that her erasing 777 wasn't necessarily an act of malice or payback, but a strategic move on her part to curb any potential rebellion. The UG's got enough petty bitches, in my mind Konishi doesn't do anything without good reason. The Reaper's Game is eat-or-be-eaten. You break a rule, you face the consequences. No hard feelings, kid. Since no one ever fully trusts anyone else, that kind of "backstabbing" isn't considered particularly abnormal or even "cruel" in a sense, it's par of the course. 777 should have known better.

Hmmm... besides Ciri being some flavour of trans that I already mentioned in the other ask? Probably that Kaer Morhen was largely self-sustaining and the remaining witchers still do a lot of homesteading themselves, and Geralt spends his winters making armour for himself and sometimes the others! Look at those silver studs all over his armour and tell me that doesn’t scream “I was snowed in for three months and needed a project” (also, super self-indulgent headcanon that he made Eskel’s TW3 armour for him)

Okay I'm using this anon as an excuse to expand on my Magnus/Charles post, now with my personal au.

My default backstory (i.e. regardless of fic) is that Magnus and Charles "met in college". The specifics of that vary depending on which fic I'm focusing on, since I want them to be able to stand on their own. So in W3, they were roommates for 3 years, had a "will they won't they" dynamic, and they learned a lot about each other's inner worlds including Magnus meeting Charles' family. But in Encore, the specifics of how they met are vague and they didn't go through as much together back then.

But my timeline for them (which mostly remains unchanged) goes like:

Magnus and Charles meet in college (again, specifics vary).

They part ways post-college. Magnus settles down in Arizona and Charles goes to Harvard Law and later gets a job in a New York law firm.

Magnus forms Dethklok with Nathan. They do hire a different manager (as seen in DSR), but that fails to work out.

Magnus goes "hey, didn't I go to college with someone who's good at this number shit? And tries to poach Charles, as if he's going to give up his cushy lawyer job to manage a brand new death metal band.

Charles does, because Magnus was able to ask him at a time when he was vulnerable and miserable enough to drop everything and start over (the specifics of this bullet point is that Charles was going through a major depressive episode after battling a serious substance abuse problem).

Upon realizing that he gave up his lucrative career to manage Dethklok, Charles goes into overdrive making sure this does not fail. But he and Magnus still rekindle their relationship, which they're keeping a secret.

In an attempt to maintain his dignity, Magnus goes along with being Charles' secret.

Charles gets Dethklok a record deal. Yay, Magnus has good taste in management.

But not good taste in drum patterns. Magnus gets kicked out of Dethklok.

Magnus assumes that his closer relationship with Charles will grant him some special treatment. But when Charles hears the specifics of what happened, he refuses to even humor in. Again, Charles' entire livelihood and reputation is resting on this band doing well.

Using his legal savvy, Charles convinces Magnus to sign away his rights to Dethklok's music in return for paying off (some of) his medical bills and not taking him to court. He's not leaving any loose ends.

Magnus spends the rest of his days in obscurity and in dumpsville.

Overall, Magnus was way more into Charles than the other way around.
