After the warm hills of the Hidden Forest, we climb higher and higher until the raindrops become snowflakes. When a cold wind blows in our face, we will see stunning views of the most developed region and the cultural capital of the ancient kingdom - the Valley of Triumph.
Life on the cold cliffs, where winter takes up most of the year, seems impossible, but the inhabitants of the mountains had their patron, who stood between warm-blooded people and winter blizzards. Ognivo.
Tumblr media
One of the most important holidays held in honor of Ognivo was days of fortune. The inhabitants of the mountains believed that once a year, Ognivo dies out and is reborn in a new body. This day was considered the beginning of the new year and was celebrated with a big festival. In this way, people demonstrated their gratitude to Ognivo for their patronage by creating masks symbolizing the new appearance of the deity. All the appearances of the Ognivo included various animals, which were repeated, making up a cycle. This cycle was depicted as a golden ring and was similar to the zodiac known to us. According to it, they also made a kind of horoscope and believed that the year in which you were born affects your personality.
In the Valley of Triumph, writing appeared before everyone else, and therefore, the myths about Ognivo were re-read from generation to generation. It can be said that Ognivo were not just a god. They were the national hero of the Valley. They were a friend and relative of any inhabitant of the mountains, from young to old. But with no one did they have such a friendship as with Elder Priestess. When the future elder appeared in the Valley, of course, she found out about the Ognivo. Not every deity could boast of such love. Priestess, being a semi-divine entity, could see inhabitants of limbo and, accordingly, Ognivo themself. Ognivo was wary of the guest at first but soon realized that Praistes is a pure soul who loves the Valley with all her heart, just like them.
Tumblr media
It can be considered that the union of Ognivo and Priestess is the opposite of the confrontation between Teth and Dryad. The Priestess ruled the people, leading them to the Megabird, and Ognivo ruled the valley itself. After all, why should they divide something if together they will bring much more benefit?
Tumblr media
One day, everything changed.
The cult of Ognivo lasted much longer than the other gods of the pantheon. That's because when Daleph and Alef arrived in the Valley, the Priestess refused to get rid of Ognivo. "They are part of the Valley. They were here, even before me. We have no right to drive them away." Aleph was not happy with such an outcome. He did not want the cult of the Megabird to compete with any other. But he did not argue with Priestess. Time passed, and Ognivo outlived the pantheon, seeing how the Four of the Isle, Prismix, and Dryad fell one after another. Alas, even Ognivo were destined to go out forever at one moment.
It was a great joy for the whole Valley when the elder had children. But it was also a great shock for the Family because no one thought that such a thing was possible. The mischievous twins won the hearts of the inhabitants of the mountains, and everyone was waiting for the moment when they would rule the Valley on an equal footing with their mother. But unfortunately, this was not destined to happen. After the birth of the twins, the Priestess's core received too much damage and began to gradually lose strength. Priestess did not die in a bang. She've been fading away for a long time, year after year. Until her inner star has completely outlived its light.
Tumblr media
Ognivo was inconsolable.
The orphaned twins were too young to rule the Valley on their own. And while they were mourning for their departed mother, the Family assumed responsibility for the mountain kingdom. They decided to get rid of the Ognivo first. It's not like the old deity had the strength left to fight. They were not defeated. They were imprisoned in their own altar. After that, at the state level, people were forbidden to celebrate the days of fortune. However, Alef soon realized that the days of fortune were not just a celebration in honor of the deity but an important event for the people themselves. It was a celebration of family unity, folk festivals, and gift exchange. It cannot be so easily erased from history. For this reason, the prince appointed a new holiday - days of feast. The meaning is exactly the same, but the date is different, and all mentions of Ognivo have been erased. And so the last god of the pantheon fell ingloriously.
Recently, those new crystals from the Vault have become popular among skykids for recording messages. But I hope that despite this, we will not forget to periodically leave candles on Ognivo's altar. After all, they actually read them.

Hot Take: "Equal Fights" Predicted Online Faketivism
Tumblr media
In some ways "Equal Fights" hasn't aged well in its effort to teach about feminism, that the execution wasn't handled as well as it could have been & that it wound up painting the feminists as straw men stereotypes. Rumor has it that even Lauren Faust, who did storyboards on the episode, isn't a fan of it in hindsight.
However this episode feels a lot more relevant to me now in our current age of online purity culture.
We live in an age of social media where young people, who had little to no power before, now have a tool at their fingertips to signal boost for those who need help the most. Teenagers can be everyday heroes in their own right. Frankly I respect you kids for being motivated in your sense of kindness & nobility.
However the problem is that unfortunately what good that can actually be done gets drowned out by a lot of harassment & bullying in the name of social justice. Especially if these young people's sources are very dubious & self-serving.
That's basically what Femme Fatale is as a character. She's a grifter who uses a progressive movement, feminism in this case, as her means for her own gain. Namely, robbing banks.
It's understandable that every super villain has a gimmick. Two-Face has the Number 2 & duality, FF could've just been a devious collector of currency with women imprinted on them. (I myself wish they would discontinue the bulky, useless penny & bring back the Sacagawea dollar.) But beyond that, she uses it as an excuse to get out of getting arrested, to claim that what she's doing is good for society at large, & above all to manipulate & influence the young & impressionable Powerpuff Girls.
The girls, being literal children, take her words to heart & implement them in ways that do more harm than good. From bullying boys in the schoolyard to letting Femme Fatale get away with her crimes.
Reminds me an awful lot of kids & young people on Tumblr & Twitter who get riled up by the words of self-proclaimed progressives who turn out to be TERFs, grifters, or members of the Leopards Eating My Face Party. Namely, the people who use progressivism & online activism to their own end.
And it's not just the Youtubers with the large subscriber base. It's also the individuals who reblog, retweet & bully even on a small scale to make themselves look good or feel like they're making a difference. Not to mention the burner & bot accounts being used to fan the flames of discord within progressive circles.
But what I find the most telling is that FF claims to be a feminist, she collects Susan B. Anthony coins, but she doesn't even know who Susan B. even was & why she was so important to American history.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Reminds me an awful lot of certain gay or trans Youtubers who would try to have you believe that "queer" is a slur, when in reality we not only reclaimed it as an umbrella term to include bisexual, trans, intersex, asexual, etc. people, but is an important part of our very history.
The slogan chanted demanding our basic human rights:
"We're here, we're queer
Get used to it."
It makes me sick that there are multiple generations of people who don't understand our own history. That there are people within our community who would promote & capitalize on that ignorance.
That's who Femme Fatale is. Willingly ignorant herself, selfish, manipulative, & would promote such lack of values to the next generation for her own gain.
And that's why she deserves to serve time in prison, while online faketivist grifters deserve to lose followers, go broke, & disappear into obscurity so they can't do any more damage.

Aachen - Germany
The home to the throne of Charlemagne.
youtube
A tour of the city of Aachen: the throne of the Holy Roman Empire is here, in the Cathedral. The Byzantine style cathedral was later decorated with the rich patterns we see now. In the days of Charlemagne those weren't there.
Aachen is a fascinating city with a rich history, and there are many interesting facts that most people don't know about.
First of all, Aachen is located in western Germany, near the border with Belgium and the Netherlands. It was once the capital of the Frankish Empire, and later the Holy Roman Empire. The city is known for its historic architecture, including the impressive Aachen Cathedral, which was built in the ninth century and served as the coronation church for German kings and queens for centuries.
One of the most interesting facts about Aachen is that it was the favorite city of Charlemagne, the famous Frankish king who ruled from 768 to 814. Charlemagne spent a great deal of time in Aachen, and it was here that he built his palace, which became the center of his empire. The palace was known as the Palatium Aquisgranum, and it was one of the most impressive buildings of its time. Unfortunately, very little of it remains today, but you can still see some of the original walls and foundations if you visit the city.
Aachen was also the site of one of the most important treaties in European history. In 843, the Treaty of Verdun was signed in Aachen, which divided the Frankish Empire into three parts and laid the foundation for the modern states of France, Germany, and Italy. The treaty was negotiated by Charlemagne's grandsons, who had been fighting for control of the empire for several years. The Treaty of Verdun is considered one of the most significant events in European history, and it marked the end of the Carolingian dynasty.

The problem though feels like a lot of mainstream feminism no longer wants to dismantle the patriarchy. It's been coopted by systems of power that include patriarchy, capitalism, and white supremacy and deform and defang it. So many people are becoming disillusioned with feminism because the most visible face of it is #girlboss shit and other forms of commodified feminism. That's not a feminism I want to ally with, and it's the most common one to see around.
In addition, the the influx of radical feminist ideas and the poisoning of the well that MRAs did around legitimate men's issues, mean that even effective feminist groups are often suspicious to hostile of men and men's issues, and it's... tiring, trying to prove yourself over and over to people who've been hurt by other people that you're not like them and that your issues are important. That's if they even let you try to prove yourself rather than saying that you have no place trying because you're a man.
I don't think that men who are trying to take down the patriarchy are going to be able to find a home in most feminist spaces because #girlboss has no space for men and radical feminism has even less. Personally, I like Men's Lib. It aligns with the goals of feminism, but doesn't result in being told that I'm speaking over women for discussing our issues with patriarchy.
I mean, yeah! imo what you're describing is a kind of adjacent group, or internal group, of people who have similar goals to you already.
That's what transmascs who've been talking about transandrophobia have been doing, too. We're not outside of trans activism, nor are we at odds with any demographic of trans people. We're just not welcome in a lot of trans activist spaces right now; what we're doing is building communities and networks within ourselves, working with the ideas and goals of the rest of the community, and trying to build allyship between us and everyone else so we can be a stronger trans community overall.
It's not a 1:1 allegory, but the situation with feminism and men is similar. Mainstream feminism has absolutely been poisoned by libfem and corporate #girlboss bullshit; radical feminism is on the rise lately; those things all range from useless to openly hostile to men. But that's not all feminism is, either. Men's Lib is adjacent to feminism if not wholly a part of it, it's just doing that in a way that's productive.
My saying "MRAs are not your allies, feminism is" is not me saying I think men should try independently to join and change spaces that are hostile to them. Obviously that's unsafe and unproductive. What I'm saying is that the spaces we need to cultivate in order to make progress need to be seeking allyship, not confrontation.
Feminist spaces are currently pretty hostile to men, particularly those who want to talk about what they face under patriarchy, and who want to participate without being pressured to self-flagellate or allow themselves to be a target for other people's unrelated frustrations. Considering there are actual problems that men face as a part of patriarchy, that's really unfortunate and really counterproductive to larger systemic change.
So yeah, find people who have similar goals. Join and form communities. But you have to do the work to make sure those communities are healthy, to course-correct as needed, and to keep your goals firmly in front of you at all times. Don't get sidetracked by MRA bullshit, and don't mistake them for your friends or allies.
Feminism is going through some shit right now, and that sucks for all of us. But we need to stand by and fight for the core values and goals, because that's what's ultimately going to fix the problems we're all working to solve. Not reviving misogynistic hate groups from 8 years ago.

Blue Flag
A beautiful story ruined by publishers?
Blue Flag is a manga series that started publishing in 2017 and ended in 2020. It is marketed as a shounen manga and it was published by shounen jump.(this info places part on my point) The story follows the lives of 4 high school students who go thru the motions on their identity and who they will be as adults. This story includes themes on queerness, misogyny, expectations to succeed, burnout etc. Pretty much a coming of age story, as you can tell this series is more related to the Josei genre but it is in fact marketed as a shounen meaning the publishers thought the main readers were gonna be boys. Have in mind I don’t think this story is perfect and I won’t take full fault off the mangaka, this more so an example on why I don’t like the manga marketing business. SPOILERS AHEAD FOR THE ENDING!!
One of the main plots of this story is how 2 of the 4 main characters know that they are queer and how they try to manage their crushes on their friends, not only that but how to survive in the type of society that we live in. The story beautifully demonstrate what is like to be a queer teen and as a reader you end up rooting for both ships. After all the ups and downs, all the crying from reading, all the details on the psychological effects on pressure, all the fleshed out characters, we suddenly get to the end.
As a reader you are suddenly confused, the ending chapter is completely on first person view and it barely has any details or info which is quite the opposite on how the story had been running. The ending is a very poorly done time skip on the teens being now adults and we are now seeing one of the girls is getting married. Not only do we find out the one girl who never cared about men ended up marrying a man who looks exactly like her crush who is the wife in the wedding they are attending. The story goes too fast and we only end up with an insinuation of the main character ending up with his male best friend. Truly bittersweet and disappointing end to the readers, it almost felt like disrespectful with how the story was portrayed before.
Now a lot of viewers were upset, I’ll say me included. Why the sudden change and ending? Well like I mentioned before, this manga is published by Shounen jump, a company very well known for only taking on series that follow the company’s formula. This makes it quite confusing on why they took this series, there are in fact mentions on how the mangaka had to fight the editors a lot because they wanted to change too much and cut a lot. This obviously makes sense because of how manga publishing companies work and are marketed. (I’ll make a later post that goes more into this topic) Even though this manga is on Shounen Jump+ it having such openness on queerness is a problem for the company. Now it is believed that the mangaka was forced to change the ending because it was “too much”, I believe that myself since it would not be surprising. Again I won’t take fault off the mangaka but at the same time, I believed she also tried her best to pass the line and show a true beautiful queer story that also went thru very real problems teens go thru.
Unfortunately the ending din’t lived up to the rest of the story but I still believe this is a worth read. Blue flag is not the only manga that has had this problem with publishing companies, that is why a lot of mangas also end up getting canceled. I would’ve loved to have read a beautiful ending of this story but thanks to bigotry and capitalism, this is just the result we get..

question for alpha:
what do you make of the stereotype that the french are cowards?
do you believe that people are straying away from this stereotype?
ive been getting into fandoms where french people are written like this and i would like to hear some perspective.
thanks
oh boy, *cracks knuckles*
so. i will be honest with you. i do not know where this stereotype comes from. or well i have a very vague guess but im not sure. i asked people around and they too just went big shrug. my only source of confirmation has been wikipedia.
see my closest guess here is that americans consider our surrender against the nazis in WWII to have been a cowardly thing or something, i dunno. weird takes on europe going on here and they seem to think we didn't fight before said surrender just cos only 46 days or sth bc apparently, blizkrieg who ? never heard of her or the absolute devastation they laid on my people. it also strikes me as a not particularly international take bc i genuinely never had heard it before being on socmedias used by americans. hell, the wikipedia page on french stereotypes lists it as exclusively american. this would match up with americans' tendency to equate cowardice and bravery as something the domain of war, which they care a lot about, whereas we just simply have other concerns, no offense.
anyways, see the stereotype we french people have about ourselves (and that actually is kinda relevant about reality), and a lot of people too, including americans, is closer to this-
Tumblr media
thats french for we yell all the fuckin time and make a ruckus about everything ever. les gueuleurs quoi.
although support of unions is lessening due to the current political crisis we have been stuck in for god only knows how long, the french has a large culture about revolution, unionizing, human rights, left wings politics and shit like this. it may or may not be war every fuckin day at my home actually because of the union stuff (not shitting on unions shitting on my dad's terrible work homelife separation and his tendency to yell at the TV every night, bc apparently the TV is a conversation partner but your kid asking you to stop screaming isnt).
we just are known to protest a lot and backtalk to politicians and shit like that. and it seems that the cowardly stereotype is lessening because people on social medias are starting to point out, hey ! this isnt being lazy actually. the french is actively fuckin. blocking roads and burning shit and all that and being cunts to their politicians, and they have universal healthcare and a decent retirement system which we are realizing we fuckin wish we had in this dystopia of a life. maybe theyre doing sth right. (and well theyre right unfortunately the french itself is slowly forgetting that.) this aside yeah recognizing that making a fuss about your rights is a good thing the french do is kind of incompatible with the idea that the french are cowards, especially with the recent crisis of the gilets jaunes where people protested tirelessly despite actively getting wounded and arrested and disabled for life and killed by cops. and it really has been like this for a good while too, since industrialization or so, when capitalism became widespread.
so in other words. subjectively ? i do think the stereotype is unbased/pretty darn recent and mostly a cultural difference, and nor can i really explain it besides blaming Capitalist Propaganda. i also do not know if objectively such stereotype is getting less support, but subjectively, from what ive read around and so on, people seem to be a bit catching up, and seem to be accepting that unionizing and strikes are NOT a laziness thing but genuine bravery when facing a system that is strikingly inegalitarian and running well oiled with the blood of the people.
take this as you want. i have to admit this is a bit personal because americans' agressiveness towards the french have genuinely made me feel like i was unwelcome online, ive seen people wish that france would sink under the sea or specifically would get nuked, with no single hint of irony whatsoever. and among the animosity found here, ive always keenly felt the difference between what was considered hardworking and invested for the french, and what was considered lazy and cowardly for americans and the faint smell of capitalist propaganda hiding behind it all
Addendum: So yeah that stereotype about the french being cowards who surrender immediately, of course it exists in Germany too. And it's also most likely due to WW2 and propaganda related to that.
- Aschen
True to the post-Soviet world as well.

Far Cry 6 Review: The Tale of "Not Cuba" Under the Rule of "Not Castro"
Tumblr media
Alright, let's get this party started with a game review. What better game to start with than one fresh on my mind because I just finished it last week on the PlayStation5.
I will keep it spoiler free. If any of you want my thoughts on the story later and are curious enough, I'll post a more spoiler-y review later.
For those unfamiliar with the Far Cry franchise, each game's plot surrounds taking down some kind of crazy tyrannical bad guy keeping a fictional area under an iron fist. For example, the previous installment, Far Cry 5 (and my personal favorite in the series) saw us in fictional Hope County, Montana, USA, going after a crazy religious cult leader forcing the populace to join with his group or suffer and die.
The latest installment in Ubisoft's FPS franchise takes us to the fictional Caribbean island nation of Yara (aka: basically Cuba). In true Far Cry fashion, "Not Cuba" and her people are suffering from the tyrannical rule of a megalomaniacal dictator, Anton Castillo.
"Not Castro" Castillo is played quite brilliantly by Breaking Bad and The Mandalorian actor Giancarlo Esposito. As far as I know, this is the first time the Far Cry franchise has employed a famous television actor to play their main villain, and my encounters with him in the game were some of my favorite parts.
You play as ex-Yaran army soldier Dani Rojas. Dani can be either male or female, and you pick Dani's gender, and therefore voice and appearance, at the beginning of the game (also a first for the franchise).
Tumblr media
Through a series of unfortunate events Dani is lucky enough to survive, Dani ends up fighting for the revolutionary force bent on taking down "Not Castro" called Libertad.
Now some of you may be wondering: What did good ol' Giancarlo do THIS time (he sure plays villains a lot, doesn't he? He's pretty dang good at it...)
Well, "Not Castro" has evidently been enslaving the populace of Yara to produce a supposedly cancer-curing drug called Viviro. Viviro is grown using a poison that the plants love, but sickens and kills humans if exposed to it for too long. Combine this along with other classic fascist tropes like mass killings for speaking out against the government, and you've got yourself quite a messed up government.
Tumblr media
You will be tasked with acting as Libertad's muscle and unite the various rebellious factions in Yara against "Not Castro".
You will be using an ungodly amount of customizable weapons, unbelievable furry and scaly animal companions called "amigos" (including a soccer-jersey wearing gator named GUAPO with a golden tooth and a ghost panther that EATS SOULS), a vast array of "Mad Max"-esque and military vehicles (you for real unlock a tank used in a previous revolution in 1967 named "Karlito" that shoots flames), and cobbled together super weapons called "supremos" to achieve victory and overthrow "Not Castro's" fascist regime.
Tumblr media
That's the basic premise of the game. If you were looking for a realistic FPS experience, this game isn't for you. None of the Far Cry games are for you, really. BUT. If you wanna feel like an epic, unstoppable freedom fighter with many much guns and explosives, then this game is definitely for you.
Tumblr media
Let's start with what I really liked about this game...
PROS:
The size of the map, the island of "Not Cuba" Yara, is incredible. It's definitely the biggest Far Cry game to date. The map is filled with all sorts of missions, outposts and bases to capture (in true Far Cry fashion), treasure hunts, caches to loot for weapons and clothing, and interesting side-characters to meet. I very much enjoyed exploring the island whilst taking down the FND ("Not Castro's" military forces) at every turn.
The map also features the sprawling metropolis of Esperanza, the capital city of "Not Cuba". In another first for the franchise, we get to sneak around and fight in a metropolitan setting. Previous Far Cry games have always been super remote with no big cities. The urban combat in Esperanza was really fun. If you venture to the city though, be warned: the toughest enemies lurk there.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The vast availability of weapons at your disposal was very refreshing. A massive armory of pistols, rifles, shotguns, rocket launchers, bow and arrows, and the aforementioned "supremos" are available for use once unlocked or found, most of them completely customizable (if you have the crafting components).
The "supremos" I mentioned are a unique component to the game and new to the franchise. They are essentially super backpacks you can craft (using depleted Uranium you can loot from the FND...lol such Cold War references) that have different attacks or effects. The game's starting "supremo", the Exterminador, is one I couldn't bring myself to part with. Why? It shoots missiles from your back. MISSILES! That lock onto enemies and blow them to smithereens.
Tumblr media
Other "supremos" can do things like release EMP charges that disable vehicles, improve stealth, heal yourself and allies, and so on. I stuck with the missiles, though. For reasons.
Boom.
Now some of you may be thinking that's too OP. Well good news. "Supremos" need to recharge after you use them. So don't go thinking you can use the Exterminador over and over for easy victory. It ain't that simple.
The PS5 ran the game beautifully. The graphics were incredible, and I often found myself just looking around at the tropical landscape of "Not Cuba" as I traveled from place to place. There are small loading times when you fast travel or when you first load up, but they are insanely short and it never bothered me.
Tumblr media
Also a first for the franchise, the cutscenes were mostly 3rd-person instead of 1st-person like before. I found that unique and fun to watch. I will admit it did ruin the immersion of it for me at times, but again, not really a big issue for me.
Once you complete the game, you can continue exploring the map and complete any missions you haven't completed in a way that doesn't retcon the story and everything you did. In addition, every real-life week, the FND will recapture a region of the map and all the bases and outposts in that region that you have previously captured. The enemies guarding these retaken regions are strong, and present unique challenges, rewards, and replayability after the game has been completed.
Tumblr media
The vehicle selection, as I mentioned before, is really fun. In addition to the Libertad and military vehicles you can unlock, there are 4 special vehicles you can unlock throughout the game that you can customize with weapons, armored plating, and colors (again, provided you have the crafting components).

As you can see, the selection of vehicles is hilariously 1950's and 60's, which "Not Cuba" does well to reflect actual Cuba.
Actor Danny Trejo is in the game for seemingly no reason. He has his own side-mission you do for him and everything (defending him from the FND while he cooks tacos). It's delightfully entertaining.
Tumblr media
A FREE STRANGER THINGS DLC MISSION. 'nuff said.
Tumblr media
A fighting game-style mini game where you literally use roosters you find around "Not Cuba" in a COCKFIGHTING RING. It's frankly hilarious.
Tumblr media
CONS:
My main gripe about Far Cry 6 is the story. In the most non-spoilery way possible, I will try to explain why.
Most of the characters that are a part of the main story are...forgettable. They have you running around doing everything for them; the most you interact with them is via phone when they are telling you what to do. Later, when some of these characters die, it's clear that the game wants you to feel bad, but I didn't. It's hard to feel sympathy for character you barely interact or have chemistry with. There are some side-characters I really enjoyed, though. Like Juan Cortez (the guy that makes your "supremos" for you) who tells you ridiculous stories about toppling countries with the CIA and the KGB...which can't be true...right?
Tumblr media
The ending is lame. I expected some kind of big payoff after the main story end; a dramatic conclusion against "Not Castro"...but nope. Just...ends abruptly. Made me feeling unsatisfied with all the work I did.
Your character, Dani, doesn't have an interesting backstory besides the ex-Yaran military thing combined with an orphan trope. As the game goes on, I expected to learn more about Dani, but...he/she is just kinda there in the middle of the revolution. Which, I guess could be interesting? But it really wasn't.
Sometimes, the story has you make decisions that seem pretty important. But they really aren't, and don't have an impact on the story in the long-run.
Moving on from my story gripes, here are a few others:
Ubisoft's games have been pretty buggy lately, haven't they? Assassin's Creed: Valhalla has come under fire for bugs and glitches, and Far Cry 6 is no different, sadly. In addition to standard bugs like clipping and lag, there are potentially story-breaking bugs that can happen. There was a story mission where you have to blow up some rocks over a canyon to stop an FND convoy to steal some supplies. Once all the enemies were taken out, the mission objective was to wait for a certain character to show up and confirm the mission success. I waited for probably about 5 minutes before wandering around the mission area, trying to find the NPC in question. She was trapped behind some of the boulders that came crashing down the canyon as part of the ambush, and I had to reboot the game. Mission-breaking glitches happened like this a couple of times.
Tumblr media
I really had no interest in the multiplayer. Usually games like this have fun or interesting co-op or multiplayer scenarios, but Far Cry 6 is lacking. The game tries to get you to do these side-missions (which you can do solo if you want, but it's kinda boring) where you have to steal chemical weapons from the military that overheat and explode if they are in sunlight for too long.
(Try stealing the dang things at night, guys...come on...)
The rewards for doing these optional side missions are lacking, so I didn't have any inspiration to do any more than 1 of them by myself.
There is a co-op feature as well for when you are on the main map doing missions and exploring, but I didn't see the appeal of playing with strangers. At time of writing, none of my friends or family had the game on PS4 or PS5.
There is a real-time, passive mission system that can net you extra rewards in the game called "Benito's Banditos". Essentially, you send Libertad members on missions (that you don't see happen or get to be a part of) and rely on arbitrary percentages to hope the mission doesn't fail catastrophically and get your resistance soldiers killed. Later in the game, I just started ignoring it because my weapons were fully upgraded and I didn't need or want anything else the system could offer. Just ended up taking time for nothing.
Tumblr media
There is DLC for this game, by the way.
In addition to the thievery of wanting you to spend real money in their Ubisoft game store for cosmetic items and epic weapons, they also have 3 DLCs out (which can be obtained if you purchase the season pass). Evidently, you get to play as 3 of the previous games' villains (the ones from Far Cry 3, 4, and 5). So...yeah. Haven't played the DLC and don't plan on it right now. If I ever do, I'll add another review for them later. I doubt it, though. I don't have the season pass, and alone, each of the 3 cost about 20 bucks.
Tumblr media
I'll have to look into them further...see if they are worth it. Maybe you guys have played them and have comments. I'd love to hear from you.
Tumblr media
Overall, Far Cry 6 is a decent addition to the franchise. It definitely isn't as engaging or gripping as the previous 3 entries in the series, but it was a a good deal of fun anyway (if you aren't a stickler for good stories like I am, maybe you would rank it as bit higher).
My final score is:
3.8/5
Let me know your thoughts on Far Cry 6!
And remember,
~Viva Libertad!

Another little-known fact about Aachen is that it was once one of the most important centers of learning in Europe. Charlemagne was a great patron of the arts and sciences, and he brought many scholars to his court in Aachen. The city was home to one of the first schools of music in Europe, and it was also a center for the study of theology and law. Today, you can visit the Carolus Magnus Center, which is dedicated to the life and legacy of Charlemagne and includes a museum and a library.

Longer writing (part 1)
The Dead Man’s War
As I clammer off the piece of rubble I call a bed, the ground shakes from the pounding of the great guns from above. Strangely nobody, including me, even flinches; guns that leave holes the size of small villages just stop feeling like they matter when it is all you have known for a year now. But it is stranger when it stops, when the great guns stop firing. Then in the distance we hear the sirens activate, the ones that have laid dormant since the barrage started. Soldiers look even more panicked than I remember at the start of this. As panic starts to spread throughout the civilians, a gunshot shuts us all up. An officer whose rank I can’t discern steps up on a soapbox and tells us what we most feared: “The A.I. have landed on our world” he says solemnly as the entire crowd stares at him. It feels like all the world went silent, even the birds trying to process what this man just said. But before anyone could fully understand what he had just said, he broke our world for the second time in 2 minutes. “You will all be shipped to the capital to defend welcome to the FDF soldiers” seconds after he finishes talking, his men start handing out rifles, pistols, and whatever other weapons I presume they have scrounged out from the broken armory or the police station. I am handed a pistol and two magazines of ammunition. The soldier who handed me the gun ushers me toward the truck that will take us to the capital. Me and a hundred other people from our village are forced to abandon our homes and fight for people we have never met. Of course no one is happy, but we all listen to the officer as he tells us we are being formed into the 48th civilian defense company. He introduced himself as our commissar. As he blabbed about details that I really just didn’t care about, I was too busy watching the only home I had ever known disappear into the distance. Disappearing behind the great horizon. After what feels like the longest drive in the history of man it appears, as my home had disappeared. Great towers loom, breaking the horizon from which the sun peeks through. Right now they are but silhouettes, however as we grow closer, the great buildings that must have towered over the people are filled with holes bigger than all I have ever seen but the towers stand. Every minute that passes we grow closer, and every second that passes the dread of the car rises. Even the commissar, who has been stone faced up to this point, shows subtle signs of dread. A twitch is all I need to know that he is feeling what we are. As I stare at the people around me, the truck suddenly grinds to a halt. A pound on the side of the truck tells us that it is time to face what we had all dreaded. As we hop awkwardly off of the truck, distant artillery fire shakes the ground beneath us. Less than two minutes later we are ushered into an old movie theater now turned into an orientation room. A man dressed in an extremely extravagant military uniform stands up and pulls out a piece of paper. Suddenly he says “Welcome to the capital, as you probably have already been told you have been summoned here to fulfill your duty to the Great Admiral by throwing the A.I. off the sacred world. You have your weapons and your unit and I wish you the best.” After that, we are told that we are going to the senate building. While it is one of the most important buildings in the city the district it was placed in is unfortunately the best place of attack for any invasion, so while we were not told what was happening outright, we were basically being sent to die.

How do Beauty Standards Affect Society?
Tumblr media
Beauty standards are something that always has happened during our society's history. Each society has different standards, but all of them have standards. Their importance may vary, but it is a fact that beauty standards affect both society and individuals deeply. However, how does it affect society? Are beauty standards something excellent or negative?
What is a Beauty Standard?
There is little consensus in the academic field on why the beauty standard exists. What we know for a fact is that it has always existed in more civilized societies and that it profoundly affects everyone in it.
Some sway that the beauty standard exists because our human nature seeks reproductive health in others, so the standard is anyone who looks healthy enough to have kids. However, this theory fails to explain social or cultural beauty standards, focusing only on why we can feel the natural need to fall for health-looking people.
Capitalism has played a massive role in our lives, including in how we see each other. It changed our beauty standards profoundly—for example, the culture of tall, white, and skinny models. The beauty and clothing industry sold the idea that women are beautiful only if they are so thin that you can grab their entire waist with only your arms.
Social media also plays a significant role in the ever-changing beauty standard. After many decades of the thin standard, a huge part of society agreed that maybe what is beautiful is to let people be themselves. Forcing them to be extremely thin isn't exactly the healthiest behavior. So, many movements became famous, including the body positivity movement. Most of them were only possible because of social media.
Unfortunately, we are seeing a comeback of the 1990s and 2000s beauty standards, which can be exceedingly hurtful to many, independent of their gender. After all, when we discuss beauty standards, we usually focus on women since they are the people affected the most. Yet, it is essential to remember that everyone lives under these standards.
How Does It Affect our Society?
Beauty standards affect all of us deeply. They are the reason why we pick certain clothes, why we want to look a certain way. Colonization is an excellent example of how beauty standards change and how they affect society.
Several countries started to accept white and fair skin as the most beautiful type of skin after European countries colonized them, especially in America and Africa. Other European characteristics also became part of the beauty standard, such as the shape of their noses and cheekbones. As said above, being thin and tall are also characteristics of our current beauty standard.
Now, imagine that you are a person born in Nigeria. All of your parents are black, and all of them are from Nigeria as well. How do you fit in these standards? You are not white or have a European facial structure. Does that mean that you aren't beautiful?
No, obviously. You are beautiful, and everyone is. Beauty standards are used to control people's bodies and minds. They put people into molds and make them all look identical. They make those who don't fit feel left out and powerless. They are used to control, and we must go against it. We can't let random people put us down because we don't fit their concept of beauty.
Yet, that doesn't mean you can't care for yourself when you're fighting. Everyone likes to feel beautiful, but self-esteem is hard, and it is very sensible. That's why treating yourself well can help you to feel prettier.
You can do some beauty treatments that can help you with your insecurities. For example, if you're looking for eyelash extensions in Austin, you can check Parlor Beauty Bar. They are the answer if you've wondered, "where can I find great eyebrow waxing near me?". Check their services and see if you like them.
